funny column yesterday Chron on Embree family. Jon, TE who played in NFL and coached Tony Gonzalez for KC, coaches TE for SF. Each of his sons are assistants, Taylor defensive asst. for Chiefs and Connor offensive asst for Niners. Of boys, Dad said, “Watching football in our house was a contact sport.”

Come on. What prop bets and odds? If I was Demi Lovato, I would bet $10,000 on the ‘under 2:01’ and sing it like Speedy Gonzales.

    • willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 9:08 am

That’s who is singing SSB??? Oh man, no way do you bet the under. All these singers using term loosely, turn all of “home of the brave” into 5 syllable words.
admit I am anthem freak. Isn’t a great song but just do it the right way, pls

  3. unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2020 at 8:48 am

Bos at 15:1 for MVP, and Hardman to score the 1st TD 14:1.

    • djloo27 said, on February 2, 2020 at 9:05 am

      Puking in elevator: 20-1
      Breaking a gate: 30-1
Waking up in an ivy hedge: 50-1

      • willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 9:10 am

        lulz.
still to be alive and well at his age, Unc kinda defies “Darwin” jokes.

      • alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 9:38 am

Johnny Winter had a album cover “Still alive and Well” which was some classic rock &roll on it.

      • eddacker said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:16 am

Ahh, those were the days . . .

      • unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2020 at 11:48 am

Back then, my odds of waking up in a hedge were about 3:1.

  4. snarkk said, on February 2, 2020 at 9:31 am

This game hype reminds me a lot of the ’85 SB down at Stanfoo.
Marino, the young phenom, couldn’t possibly be stopped.
    His WRs, speedy and uncoverable.
    They can score at will.
    We’ll see…

  5. snarkk said, on February 2, 2020 at 9:40 am

There are apparently quite a few prop bets on the half time show.
I don’t think there is one on Shakira’s full hip shimmies.
    O / U at 310 ?
I wouldn’t bet, but hoping for the over…

  6. wilcojoe said, on February 2, 2020 at 9:55 am

I did prop bets for the first time during the College Football playoff while in Vegas last month. Made the games much more interesting and you can find some very enticing plays. I think there are only a few sports books that actually do prop bets. Ended up placing mine at Binions since I was staying downtown….Damn Flav, that is a shit load of bets. Good luck and Go Niners!

    • blade3colorado said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:25 am

Joe, sent you an email . . . At your convenience, give me a shout regarding Draftkings questions I have.Thanks.

      • eddacker said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:34 am

Hey, where is everyone playing fantasy baseball in 2020?

  7. Flavor said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:32 am

    Whoa. Eddacker sighting!

    • eddacker said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:36 am

great to see you Big Flav – my betting maestro. Palo Alto still holding it’s own?

      • blade3colorado said, on February 2, 2020 at 11:27 am

Good to see ya Ed. Dunno. I think Giant Head (Peter) is the only one who plays season long fantasy baseball. I quit 5 or 6 years ago after I bagged 2 championships in one season via ESPN and Yahoo leagues. Now, I only play daily fantasy and quite frankly, not that often (as I am usually out of the country and Draftkings and FanDuel do not allow bets unless you are in the USA). Joe and Flav are the resident experts on that stuff.

  8. eddacker said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:33 am

In the bag for all you niners fans. As I believe most of the hype and “big-time” analysis is to keep the $ rolling thru – including the bets. You have to have previous knowledge of some kind to get information that’s useful.
    IMHO
Which I do not! Having not followed the niners or any football for years.
The only thing I remember about any superbowls in the last 20 years was the advert for the guy running the faucet while he brushed his teeth. And I did not see that during the game.

I did end up accidentally watching the niners-saints game from start to finish and immediately jumped on board that train. watta game.
Against kansas I thought Baltimore showed up kinda like the niners did at the falcons game. A ‘what happened’ game.

Nice to see ya’ll still here as we move in to “The Home of Your Computerized San Francisco Giants.”

  9. mrsprtdude said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:57 am

I have kittle as MVP 15-1, total score for Niners at 36. 20-1, Jzuscheck (sp?) 1st TD at 25-1. Just for Fun!

    • Flavor said, on February 2, 2020 at 11:02 am

I got one of those Juice bets. Also got him at 35-1 to score last td

  10. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 11:31 am

Don’t know what his odds are but I think Deebo Samuels will be the man hoisting the MVP trophy!!

  11. unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2020 at 11:50 am

Deebo would be a good bet. I think KC will overcommit to stopping the run and we hit a lot of mid-range passes.

  12. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 12:56 pm

Pretty cool tribute for Kobe at the Waste Management Tournament in Phoenix..
The Crazy 16th hole which is a enclosed Arena of raucous fans partying, the pin placement today is 24 paces on from the front and 8 paces off the left side for Kobe’s 2 former jersey numbers..

    • Flavor said, on February 2, 2020 at 1:08 pm

I’m tired of all this 24/8 bullshit. Kobe was ok, man, just ok. Prince dying was a way bigger deal IMO

      • djloo27 said, on February 2, 2020 at 1:25 pm

  13. dirtnrocksnomo said, on February 2, 2020 at 1:06 pm

Cool local blurb on my friend’s uncle who played for SF back in the day. Chuck, you might remember my friend from when we met up at the Giants game.

  14. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 1:25 pm

whoa Dwaine Board was awesome. Out of NC A&T, same school as Al Attles.

  15. Macdog said, on February 2, 2020 at 1:30 pm

Good luck to everyone today rooting-wise and betting-wise. I’m probably the only one here who isn’t a fan of either team, but I’ll be pulling for Loo’s Chiefs to end their 50-year drought. At least it should be a better game than last year’s clunker.

    • djloo27 said, on February 2, 2020 at 2:40 pm

      An hour to go.
      Signing off…

  16. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 2:27 pm

All national anthems are generally overwrought rubbish, and boring. No wonder singers try to spice them up with usually bad ideas. I never knew all the lyrics to “O Canada” until just now. The song has a pretty good melody but the lyrics are terrible.

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 2:30 pm

“With glowing hearts we see thee rise.”
      “Thee”? Oh man, that’s cheesy.

      • alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 2:52 pm

Never thought the Canucks were very bright..
Those long winters must cause brain freeze to the majority of Canadians..

  17. Macdog said, on February 2, 2020 at 3:34 pm

I predict the final score will be 24-8.

  18. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 3:39 pm

Geez already confusing on the coin toss!
Sherman calls tails and it is, and they want to defer the ball for second half, and the refs saying to KC do you want to defer???Huh? They don’t have a fucking choice but to start with the ball..

  19. wilcojoe said, on February 2, 2020 at 3:43 pm

“Give him a tip Joe”. That was pretty cool.

  20. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:02 pm

Surprised the Niners declined that illegal receiver downfield penalty.

  21. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:07 pm

what were the odds Jimmie Ward is first guy injured and out of the game?

  22. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:16 pm

Coleman starting over Mosert surprising to me.
Guess a 220 yard rushing day don’t me squat..

    • willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:18 pm

in there now I think Kat. surprised at success of Chiefs running game so far.

  23. snarkk said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:33 pm

Ok, jimmyG with the usual dumb pick. Good to go now…

  24. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:35 pm

Good stop to hold them to a FG after Garoppolo stupid throw. He has to tighten up shit, if they want to hang in this game..
Chiefs controlling the clock is not good..

  25. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:37 pm

    Nice answer on ground game.

  26. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:40 pm

That sure was a Juicy score!!!

  27. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:46 pm

mm both offenses are rolling under doesn’t look like good bet.

  28. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:52 pm

Nice job by the defense bottling up KC on that series.

  29. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:56 pm

that’s a hmmnn on Shanahan’s part. Niners lose this game by a FG, fans are gonna wonder why he didn’t try and score some points especially after how quickly they scored the TD to tie it.

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 4:58 pm

      Strange decision. Very conservative.

    • wilcojoe said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:05 pm

It’s that type of conservative play calling that led to Atlanta’s second half collapse two SB’s ago against the Bellechicks.

  30. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:05 pm

Perfect throw by Jimmy. Kittle might have caught it without pushing off. Dumb penalty.

  31. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:05 pm

Yeah very conservative with 3 TO and you get the ball to start the 2nd half? Agree if that comes back to bite them it’s on Shanahan having a Falcons flashback!

  32. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:10 pm

wasn’t that a fav Belichik move? score to end the first half, get the ball to start second and score again? that could be 10 point swing.
    yeow time for mute button.

  33. Flavor said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:12 pm

Cashed a nice bet on the under first half. Didn’t want to sweat the entire gm. Now, I’m swearing for other reasons. This gm is hanging in the balance, no idea what happens in 2nd half

    • Flavor said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:21 pm

Sweating not swearing.though I was swearing pretty good on that bullshit PI call . He fucking touched him. What has football become?

      • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:25 pm

Gotta disagree on that. Seemed like textbook offensive pass interference to me.

  34. Macdog said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:25 pm

The best part of the halftime show is not hearing Joe Buck for 15 minutes.

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:33 pm

      Horrible music, though.

    • alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:34 pm

      So true MacDog lol 😂

  35. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:28 pm

Great camera shot of Lynch wanting the timeout with 1:20 left.
1:20 at your own 20, with two timeouts left. You have to WANT that situation.

  36. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:37 pm

49er wide receivers are getting close to a taunting penalty.

  37. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:51 pm

wow great defensive stand. They’ve taken the big plays away from Chiefs since that one long one earlier.

  38. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 5:54 pm

Now we’re showing Mahomes, that yes this defense is damm good!

  39. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:00 pm

17 consecutive points by SF. the G looks pretty comfortable and passing game seems to be rolling.

  40. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:01 pm

Yeah baby!! Make that a 10 point lead!!
    Mosert,Juice,& Bourne lead the way!

  41. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:03 pm

And Jimmy G lookin sharp!Even the throw to Sanders was on the money that the Chiefs defender was clearly holding!!

  42. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:11 pm

O-O which is always a great number for your football square is banking big money tonight with halftime and 3rd quarter wins!!

  43. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:17 pm

    Bang Bang 49er Gang!!
    Mahomes feeling the heat🔥🔥
2Picks!!!Time to eat some clock and add on!

  44. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:19 pm

you have to keep throwing and get another score here.

  45. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:34 pm

Cannot give up a bomb on 3and 15!!’

  46. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:37 pm

Well, here it is for Shanny and Jimmy. Here’s the opportunity.

  47. wilcojoe said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:37 pm

Alright Kyle. Big time possession now, what are you going to do?

  48. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:38 pm

Way to easy getting that score after playing so good up to that point.

  49. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:41 pm

    3 and out. Wow.

  50. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:42 pm

Can Shanny get points in the 2nd half of a Super Bowl?

  51. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:47 pm

I don’t think he’s in when foot is OB.

  52. wilcojoe said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:51 pm

James runs the same route on every return.

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:55 pm

He only got to the 15. That’s pretty ridiculous.

  53. wilcojoe said, on February 2, 2020 at 6:55 pm

Too bad John Candy’s not in the stands.

  54. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:01 pm

    Fuuuuuccckkkk!

  55. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:04 pm

2 Super Bowl 2nd half shutouts for Shanahan.
Oh well. It was a great season for the Niners.
Congrats to Loo, Dawg, and other KC fans.

    • willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:10 pm

yes did what they had to do on both sides of ball in 4th. Niners couldn’t score/couldn’t stop them.

  56. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:05 pm

Guess we can only win a SB with Walsh& Seifert!!!

  57. willedav said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:08 pm

    wow 4th Q of ugliness.

  58. wilcojoe said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:09 pm

Yep, congrats to the KC fans and Andy Reid who probably just punched a ticket to Canton.

  59. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:14 pm

Sherman got beat for a big play. The whole secondary looked confused in the last 20 minutes of the game.

  60. James said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:16 pm

That 3rd and 15 completion was ridiculous. The receiver looked like he was waiting for a punt.

  61. blade3colorado said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:22 pm

Just what I said would happen last week . . . Although I was hoping for the 49ers to win, I didn’t bet that way and won all 4 of my DraftKing entries. My take is that son of “rat face” blew it at the end of the 1st half and again, in the 4th quarter. Twenty one unanswered points. Sheesh . . .

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:24 pm

That first half ending was inexplicable. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in even a regular season game.

  62. alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:24 pm

They played the 2nd half like they all came down with the coronavírus at the same time😩😤

  63. blade3colorado said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:27 pm

You guys have the pulse of the bay area . . . Does this performance get Shanahan fired?

    • blade3colorado said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:29 pm

      Also, is Chuck sober?

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:32 pm

Shanahan’s job is incredibly safe, Blade. Niner fans appreciate the great season, and like the direction of the organization with Lynch and Shanahan running things.

    • alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:35 pm

No that won’t happen.Kapler will be fired first.
Shanny &Lynch have 3 more years on they’re contracts, they’re not going anywhere..

  64. snarkk said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:31 pm

    He won’t be fired.
However, I don’t get that last drive after they’re down 24-20.
Plenty of time after that Mostert 19-yard run. Run the dang ball. Instead, JimmyG stuck in the pocket throwing slant after slant, getting them knocked down. They had 3 time outs left to get 65 yards for the TD at the 2 min warning. Very doable. Plus, they abandoned the run game when they were up. Lots of head scratching…

    • blade3colorado said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:35 pm

Yeah, but did you see that look on Lynch? He was pissed that Rat Face Jr. didn’t call a TO. Anyway, I guess like Zumiee said, Niner fans love him, so the job is safe.

      • snarkk said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:38 pm

They went from outhouse to Super Bowl in 3 seasons. Shanny is safe for quite a while…

  65. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:34 pm

KC never stopped the reverses, but the Niners stopped running them.

  66. James said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:34 pm

At least Bosa won’t get to visit his buddy in Washington.

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:40 pm

Ha! Bosa said Trump was the best president in U.S. history. What a stupid thing to say. What history classes did he take at Ohio St.?

      • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 7:44 pm

        Classes? I know. I made a funny.

  67. wilcojoe said, on February 2, 2020 at 8:03 pm

Trump just tweeted congratulations to the KC Chiefs, saying they made “the entire state of Kansas proud”. He deleted it but not before it was too late….You can’t make this stuff up.

    • James said, on February 2, 2020 at 8:10 pm

      It’s entrapment.

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 8:17 pm

He’s not very smart. In addition to being a criminal sociopath.

  68. unca_chuck said, on February 2, 2020 at 8:21 pm

No way, Blade. This team is young. The offense had a 10 point lead. The defense fucked this one up. James is right. The 3rd and 15 play where you leave the best guy on the team wide fucking open is a huge fail. Ward fucked that up hard. Sherman got burned. Shades of Culliver against Baltimore. Moore out there on the PI with Kelce was huge. It would have been 20-20 instead of 24-20. Frankly KC’s defense did a good job. The tipped passes killed a couple drives.

  69. mrsprtdude said, on February 2, 2020 at 8:24 pm

SOOO annoying. Run the fucking ball. 2 super bowls in a row for us we deserted a dominant running game. maybe shanahan is like Dusty. Great manager to play for, gets a lot out of his players, but can’t coach in the clutch?
A little goes on Salah too. D line was clearly tired. Can we call up just 1 blitz please? And lastly. Was Ford hurt in pregame warm ups? I swear I never heard his name called 1 time the whole game.

  70. dirtnrocksnomo said, on February 2, 2020 at 8:46 pm

Tough loss but congrats to djloo & sandawg.

  71. djloo27 said, on February 2, 2020 at 8:58 pm

It feels like a gift, if not a miracle. Mahomes was awful. Never looked comfortable till after that parachute to Hill landed. Williams was 100% OB when he broke the plane. There was one frame that clearly showed it.
Did Reid even have a game plan?
Had a great PG chat with SanDawg.
He is one of the best guys you could ever meet, if you haven’t already…

    • Macdog said, on February 2, 2020 at 9:18 pm

      Matriculation Jubilation!

  72. zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:14 pm

“”They had three timeouts, and it was 10 to 10. The last thing we’re going to do there is allow them to get the ball with three timeouts left, especially with their quarterback and the offensive speed, and go down and score before half, Shanahan told reporters after the 49ers lost to the Chiefs, 31-20. “Felt good at 10-10, especially with us starting with the ball [in the second half””

It’s like he still doesn’t totally get it after that 28-3 blown lead debacle against the Patriots.

    • zumiee said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:23 pm

He’s basically saying: “I took into account the fact that they’re better than us, so I was just hoping we could get lucky in the 2nd half.”

  73. mrsprtdude said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:29 pm

He was in a tough spot there. Being aggressive with the lead vs pats cost him. If Niners pass and stop the clock and KC scores he would be crucified. That’s how we lost the Seattle game.
His mistake was not sticking to a run heavy offense. Their defense had life at the end because we hadn’t knocked them around like we did to Minnesota and GB. Niners passed it way more than running. Went away from what had worked for them all year. Grr. key stat Mostert 12 rushes 58 yards. Why only 12 ????

    • alleykat69 said, on February 2, 2020 at 11:10 pm

And better yet why wasn’t Mosert starting?
Because Shanny had a relationship with Coleman in Atlanta, and felt obligated that this would be his only SB appearance?Shit the dude’s coming off a dislocated shoulder, and he starts over a guy that clearly was they’re best back coming off a 220 yard game.

  74. mrsprtdude said, on February 2, 2020 at 10:37 pm

Ok last word..Breakdown on a site like the athletic says it is on Jimmy G..2;40 left Shanahan called a play that got kittle wide open and JG threw the ball somewhere else. A play designed for kittle. Also 2 WR’s open on the long pass and jimmy over threw him by 10 feet. may have a point…
