A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Winter Truly Setting In

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on February 4, 2020

These post Super Bowl days are always bad but right now they’re worse than ever. Warriors: suck. Spring training is on the horizon but I can’t find a single reason to get remotely jazzed about the Giants. They’re going to be terrible. We don’t even get a little fake hope thrown our way. KNBR is hyping fanfest big time and you’d have to shoot me out of a cannon against my will to make it to that bullshit.

Also, this guy can kindly go fuck himself.

Screenshot 2020-02-04 at 6.08.41 AM

Let me get this straight, he’s never trolled the blog? Uh huh….

This fuck doesn’t show up here for literally YEARS and then we’re supposed to see it as a coincidence that he just magically re-appears the day after one of the worst sports losses in Bay Area history? And then he posts a video mocking Niner fan support of the team. I don’t give 2 fucks where the video originated from. You were trolling the blog yesterday you dumb motherfucker.

Instead of mocking the Niners, Dodger fans should figure out how to spin the fact that their team is mentally weak, unable to win anything of consequence for going on 31 years despite having the best talent on the field.

Great job of a summation, Flav: “Instead of mocking the Niners, Dodger fans should figure out how to spin the fact that their team is mentally weak, unable to win anything of consequence for going on 31 years despite having the best talent on the field.”

Fucking trolls. l wish I could take them all out behind the wood shed, and kick the living shit outta them. They don’t even deserve the precious air they breathe.

I am over the whole Niner thing. Disappointed? You bet your ass. But overall, I don’t think ANY of us had visions of the Niners ending-up in the Super Bowl. Sure, I wish like hell they won it all, but they are in good shape as far as the players they have.

A few tweaks next year (I think they need a lock-down corner added to the mix). They’ll also have to figure out what to do with Armstead (UFA – made 9 mil-plus last year), and Juszczyk (due a qualifying offer that would be a 6.7 mil cap hit).

Jimmy G needs to improve in a few areas, but I am good with him marshaling the offense. And hopefully Shanahan learns from his miscues.

And while the Giants are gonna suck ass, I am looking forward to the baseball season. May even make a trip to the Valley of the Sun, regardless…

As far as Shanny goes maybe it would be a good idea if GM Lynch stays on the sidelines every game and yells at Shanny when to take timeouts!!
And then theirs 70 year old Dusty Baker..
“He’s so old his underwear is Dusty”

Shit! I still have not reached-out to him recently. Have you had recent dialogue with him, Loo? What is his current address and release date?

  4. willedav said, on February 4, 2020 at 8:08 am

another thing Shanahan has to figure out is how Saleh’s defense handles mobile QBs. His D struggled to get off the field vs. Jackson, Wilson torched them and missed by an eyelash of beating him twice, even K Murray/K Drake combo of AZ Cards gave them fits. So did the less than mobile Goff–second time around Rams scored 31 points. This is strong division.
Saw suggestions Sherman’s days as corner might be numbered, with thought he’d make a good safety ala Chas Woodson for few years. Niners D seems to have depth of personnel and speed, just wonder if Saleh has answers for what is going to be thrown at them.

It’s true that not many thought the Niners would end up in the SB this year, but it’s so difficult to reach a championship game in any sport, you can’t just give it away when you’re there.
I watched the game at SFO as I continued what ended up being a 24 hour trek back home. Yep $14 beers and whatever those shots of Herradura cost me didn’t do much for the sting of that loss. I will say this, I was given a lot of respect at each leg of my trip, for continuing to wear the colors but that also meant having to go over that loss again with many strangers. Many of those conversations ended up talking about baseball…it was a long ass 24 hours.

Speaking of the Giants, I see Farhan is adding more depth to the OF by going out and signing Brandon “Another” Guyer. Am I the only one that thinks that Zaidi probably sent a spring invite to John Bowker, who I assume turned it down because he was having too much fun selling tires?
Maybe I should just go back to bed

    • willedav said, on February 4, 2020 at 8:33 am

yeah the going over it. Saw folks in town still sporting the gear and I yakked it up with Raider fan who was on our side Sunday. Not easy getting back either as history has shown for those who lose SB.
glad you made it back safe and sound tho after all you had to go through to get to Calif and back.

The Giants need to figure a way to be like the Doghairs. Yeah. As in winning the division 7 years running. And after that, still having so much minor league talent that they supposedly will give 3 or more top prospects for a guy like Mookie Betts. They haven’t won the big one during that run, but they’ve been in the mix while still finding young talent to keep it going like nobody’s business. That means they have a scouting and talent evaluation organization that kicks ass. Oh yeah, Zman had a bit of a role in that. Give the guy some time and a couple more drafts…

Trying to decompress. So annoyed still. Anyone asking how in the world Mostert didn’t start? We keep hearing he goes with the ht hand. 220 yards not hot enough? Stars win games. Also…Why isn’t kittle getting the ball more?

Lastly. Can you imagine if we had stopped the chiefs on 3rd down but had a helmet to helmet hit on the posterboy Mahomes? Why no discussion about the no call on the hit on jimmy? Clearly a penalty in todays NFL. Augh

  9. mrsprtdude said, on February 4, 2020 at 8:37 am

@ willi… Niners handled moble quarter backs. Look at the scores. Mahomes is a looser who got crushed by us if the 3rd down pass / hail mary isn’t complete. That play was a drop back pass. Jackson out up 20 points against us when they were averaging 30. None of the big 3rd down plays except one were on mahomes runs. handled as well as they could have. We lost cause our offense only put up 20, and din’t move the ball at all with the game on the line in 4 tries. Some of the reason is we went away from our strength and KC defense still fresh because we passed the ball so much vs the running we did in the previous games.
And last thought…Just as the Angels were pissed becaus Dusty gave the ball to ortiz as a keepsake for the winning start in game 6… Chiefs were pissed the way niners celebrated after the last int. Celebrate when the games over morons!

A couple of football related questions for chuck and BigFlavor

Chuck – I think they’ll retain Armstead and maybe let Ward walk. Where do the Niners need to add? Seems like WR, Offensive Guard need improvement. I also think they missed DJ Jones and Thomas just isn’t an impact guy so maybe DT as well?

Flav- Around draft time last year you were blasting Bosa but I’m assuming your take on him has done a 180.

Hard to say I’m excited to turn the calendar to baseball but hey, pitchers and catchers report next week.

    • chipower9 said, on February 4, 2020 at 12:47 pm

I agree with Kat re: a lock-down corner (stated so at 7:08 AM this morn).

  11. alleykat69 said, on February 4, 2020 at 10:11 am

Dirt..I think they have to go and try and get a shutdown corner back first. Sherman isn’t getting any younger and now getting beat occasionally like in the SB. They might even consider moving him to Strong Safety/are Safety. They’re should be a couple decent players at the bottom of the draft available. And yes more depth on the OL would be good, and I’m not ruling out another RB.

    • dirtnrocksnomo said, on February 4, 2020 at 10:36 am

Good point about a CB. I’ve had the same thought about Sherman. He’s a better fit for Safety at this point and I think he could easily handle the position but you have to get total buy in from him or he’ll become a pain in the ass in the locker room. I’m less worried about RB. Shanahan’s system and philosophy seems to be the same as his dad’s in that they could more or less plug and play late round draft picks. Mostert has definitely earned the spot going into next year imo. Does McKinnon ever get back on the field for SF or that guy’s done?

  12. sandy32koufax said, on February 4, 2020 at 11:31 am

Such typical whiner fans, obsessed by your losses to the point that you have no sense of humor or perspective. I’ll write about a couple of things, then you amazingly angry guys can tee off for the rest of your angry lives. Mahomes beat your team, period.

I didn’t know that baseball is football and deflection is the easiest way to cope with your bitter loss. You guys are disingenuous af. I’ve been quite a good sport where the jints have been concerned, even in 2010, 2012 & 2014. I’ve even congratulated them and you. Y’all? Crappy people. I’ve got your troll, finally. Whine on bishes.

    • chipower9 said, on February 4, 2020 at 12:49 pm

Yep, I’ve met Koufax many time since the 1960s and he finds it hilarious how childish jints fans like you are.

Lastly, and most importantly, I have been back here periodically, but like you twits got bent yesterday you actually besmirch the memory of The Codger. Hasta, Buffoons.

McKinnon..2 straight years of injuries to his knees (a death mark for a RB) and 6.5 million due this year, my guess he’s cut,are some guy of injury settlement.
Good point Dirt about Sherman buying in to the team if they did ask to switch positions, his selfish pride may come into play.

“Infielder Wilmer Flores and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a multiyear contract, sources familiar with the deal told ESPN’s Jeff Passan

Flores, 28, hit .317/.361/.487 with the Arizona Diamondbacks last year”

    • alleykat69 said, on February 4, 2020 at 1:22 pm

      Yeah you scooped me Dirt!
This crazy Giants situation with they’re infield/out field continues!
Atleast Wilmer”crybaby” Flores is a familiar name with some pluses.Giants must have little confidence now in Dubon to keep bringing in all this extra competition. This will make Loo happy 😃, maybe they still are in play for Puig 🤯

  15. unca_chuck said, on February 4, 2020 at 1:53 pm

Corner, safety, O line, WR depth. I like Hurd and I think he will be great next year, but Taylor can’t even get on the field. Bourne proved his worth as a red zone threat. Deebo and Samuels are solid. Armstead earned his spot. Ward prolly goes. He had a good year, but like Culliver before him, picked the wrong day to have a bad game. Moore needs to go away. He’s fucking brutal. His PI was terrible. Harris as well.

Sherman s a corner sounds good, but I’m not sure how he will take that. Lott did it, and made all-pro at both spots, so it does happen successfully, but again it’s up to Sherm.

Watched All-22 at work with a guy who has it,and there were 3-4 plays where Bosa was blatantly held. And Jimmy G wasn’t right after the shot to his head late in the 3rd quarter.

  16. unca_chuck said, on February 4, 2020 at 1:55 pm

The candy-ass PI call on Kittle, and this non-call stink. But them’s the breaks.

  23. unca_chuck said, on February 4, 2020 at 3:27 pm

They allow hand-fighting. At least they sort of do. The defender initiates the contact. I was a little surprised Shanny didn’t challenge the call. Seeing as he wasted all that fucking time to end the half.

  38. zumiee said, on February 4, 2020 at 8:12 pm

  41. Flavor said, on February 4, 2020 at 8:22 pm

i don’t know if they gave up too much, Betts is worth a lot. I just don’t think he’s a lock to take them over the top with the league switch and moving out of that weirdo park in Boston. And they only get a year of him before he bounces.
Anyway, it’s a bold move, one that I’d expect from them since they are in desperation mode having not won shit in the last 31 years……

  42. willedav said, on February 4, 2020 at 8:53 pm

why was Betts adamant about going FA and not interested in staying with Red Sox? Dodgers have young pitching on the way and looks like they didn’t give up any of it beside Maeda who doesn’t start much anymore.
And Betts unfortunately is lot better player than Pederson and Verdugo.

I happen to like DLo Russell. Unlikely they keep him beyond this year I guess but he’s been fun to watch imo, even as bad as Warriors have been. think they are in town @ Brooklyn tmw.
