A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Don’t Call It A Comeback

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on February 17, 2020

We are finally and completely in the sports dead zone. No legitimate sport is being played right now. The Wondrous Land seems so far away…..

One thing that’s kinda cool about this Astros scandal is how it will all play out. If Houston can make it back to the post season it will be riveting stuff. And if they win it all without cheating? Hey, EVERYONE loves a comeback story.

It could happen. They have great players still. The only difference now is, everyone hates them.

The 2020 baseball season can’t start soon enough!

Dang it, Flav. I just posted my thought on the Astros at the end of yesterdays thread. Oh well.
    Full squad workouts today.

that was good. Yeah I can’t believe this existed in a vacuum. And Manfred knew it was going on with other teams way back in 2017, including Red Sox. and here in 2020 he still hasn’t figured out what to do about it.
Guy is lame. Since he is tool of owners, wonder if Dodgers or others upset about losing WS they might have gotten robbed have pressured him yet?

If Manfred wants to do something meaningful (yeah, right) he should ban Houston and Boston from post-season play for 5 seasons. John Smoltz was saying this is worse than steroids because it was a team effort that was at least condoned by the front offices of the teams, not some low-level deal done simply by the players.

  3. alleykat69 said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:59 am

Smoltz is right, when a whole freakin team is in coverup mode compared to a few individual juicers it’s 10 times worse!
And Manfred is a tool.If Fiers didn’t blow the whistle he would still be sweeping this mess under the rug!
Manfred needs to hand in his resignation, and let someone with a pair go in and clean up this mess..

Do the Astros have a good team? How do we even fully know?

    • Flavor said, on February 17, 2020 at 9:17 am

A’s are legit this year. Astros better fire up the buzzers in those games or they’ll get swept.

  5. Flavor said, on February 17, 2020 at 9:28 am

looks like the Panda is back to his *off season work outs are optional* routine

    • snarkk said, on February 17, 2020 at 10:41 am

      Now that’s a strenuous workout.
I spent more energy doing yard work yesterday as I fought a thorny climbing rose and some pesky weeds.
RSox are still paying him, they’re only on the hook for a $5 million buyout this year…

  6. alleykat69 said, on February 17, 2020 at 9:32 am

Damm can you imagine a wild crazy Flapalooza at Oracle getting tickets 1st row behind the Astros dugout screaming obscenity’s and having fake buzzers attached to are shirts and wearing Garbage Can hats for 9 innings to really get under the cheaters skin, are actually until they kick are whole section out to the roar of the remaining crowd as we all take a bow heading over to Momo’s..

Photo from 2019. Where’s the tattoo? I guess he could claim he had it removed.

    • zumiee said, on February 17, 2020 at 1:09 pm

Oh wait. This photo was before the playoffs. Never mind.

      • zumiee said, on February 17, 2020 at 1:11 pm

Would a baseball player get a tattoo on their chest during the season? Wouldn’t that cause discomfort to play baseball?

      • unca_chuck said, on February 17, 2020 at 2:26 pm

        Of course not.

  8. zumiee said, on February 17, 2020 at 1:14 pm

I saw online someone joking about Correa this week trying to convince Altuve to go and get a terrible tattoo on his chest in a hurry.

  9. unca_chuck said, on February 17, 2020 at 2:26 pm

You are right, AK. I’ll bet that Houston road games get some kind of attendance bump for the home teams.

Remember after the strike year, fans threw fake cash all over the fields? There’s gonna be all kinds of stuff like that going on at Boston and Houston games.

    • alleykat69 said, on February 17, 2020 at 3:21 pm

Yeah Chuck for sure, it’s going to get crazy for Houston&Boston on the road.Just looked at the schedule and dammit the Giants don’t play either team this year, which sucks for pure harassment purposes..

  10. zumiee said, on February 17, 2020 at 5:19 pm

Correa is quoted saying Bellinger “needs to shut the f##k up.”
The Astros are so clueless. Their owner is clueless. The Commisioner is clueless.

  11. alleykat69 said, on February 17, 2020 at 5:36 pm

Doesn’t that nose on that tiger tattoo look like a penis?

    • djloo27 said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:40 pm

      Well, I’m your penis
      I’m your fire
      At your desire

  12. Bozo said, on February 17, 2020 at 5:45 pm

And Sunday the Commissioner said “The idea of an asterisk or asking for a piece of metal back seems like a futile act..” Most people call the WS trophy, the Commissioner’s Trophy but Manfred thinks of it as just a hunk of junk.
    Well played, Rob. Well played.

    • Macdog said, on February 17, 2020 at 5:53 pm

Justin Turner wasn’t too pleased with the Commish:

“I don’t know if the commissioner has ever won anything in his life,” Turner told reporters Monday, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Maybe he hasn’t. But the reason every guy’s in this room, the reason every guy is working out all offseason, and showing up to camp early and putting in all the time and effort is specifically for that trophy, which, by the way, is called the commissioner’s trophy.

“So for him to devalue it the way he did yesterday just tells me how out of touch he is with the players in this game. At this point the only thing devaluing that trophy is that it says ‘commissioner’ on it.”

      • Bozo said, on February 17, 2020 at 6:15 pm

Tim Flannery went off on Manfred as well over the statement. He ended by saying “I’ve buried friends along the way that tried desperately and gave it all to be the best and win it all , maybe it’s time to change who’s representing the Commissioners office? Many players on many teams feel the same way. If it ain’t sacred to you, then you gotta go.”

lol, WOW. I was wondering what they were gonna do about this. My initial take is “good. Fuck this guy.” But, he is such a part of 2010. How do you tell the story of 2010 without Huff?

    • Flavor said, on February 17, 2020 at 7:00 pm

      • djloo27 said, on February 17, 2020 at 7:53 pm

His teammates should stand up for him…

      • unca_chuck said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:14 pm

        So should OJ’s, amirite?

      • djloo27 said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:25 pm

The Bills never won anything with him…

      • unca_chuck said, on February 17, 2020 at 9:16 pm

That doesn’t matter. I’m sure Buffalo would be doing all kinds of 1973 team reunions had oj not been the wonderful guy he is.

  14. zumiee said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:01 pm

It’s a great move by the Giants not inviting Huff, IMO.
We’ll always appreciate his big contribution to the ‘10 team, but he’s descended into a pit of bigotry and hatred.

  15. unca_chuck said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:15 pm

Huh. Fuck. TEN years ago? Goddamn. Sometimes, your actions have consequences. Well, except if yer prezidunt.

  16. Flavor said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:36 pm

Huff didn’t get invited because of his gun post and then a crazy one about Muslim women. Personally, I think both were jokes, however terrible they were.
You can’t *appreciate his contributions* and then also not invite him pretending he doesn’t exist.
I think Huff is a buffoon but I think the Giants are wrong to not invite him (he came to the Bruce Bochy tribute remember)

    • djloo27 said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:43 pm

I thought they took pride in being a “Band of Misfits”…

      • Flavor said, on February 17, 2020 at 8:46 pm

this guy is irritating, he’s probably racist and other things, too. But the tweets the Giants cited as reasons to not invite him don’t qualify, in my opinion, as reasons to ostracize him from this great, historic event.

  17. zumiee said, on February 17, 2020 at 9:07 pm

He tweeted about kidnapping and raping Iranian women.

    • Flavor said, on February 18, 2020 at 6:09 am

I know what he tweeted. I followed him on twitter back then,. It wasn’t serious it was a dumb joke made by an imbecile.

  18. alleykat69 said, on February 17, 2020 at 9:55 pm

Huff doesn’t like woman period, I’m sure his ex to him to the cleaners on his divorce, and now he’s bitter as fuck. Then Giants management I’m sure didn’t care about him ripping their hire of Alyssa Nakken..” Good luck taking instructions from a college softball player fellas”
He needs to get back on his meds,he’s one fucked up individual..

    • Flavor said, on February 18, 2020 at 7:26 pm

hey, sorry I just approved this one. You went into spam because of a word you used–a word I’ve used to catch a couple other trolls who regularly go harmlessly into my spam filter—it has to have them doing a slow burn and I fucking love it
