A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

0-1

A tidy loss already in the box, 10-4 at the hands of the Dodgers. Bart was the obvious POTG with his monster oppo field shot. Dubon hit well, too. The Bore Core did their typical nothing.

I might try to catch some ball today at least on the radio….

Fiers is getting extra security since he’s receiving death threats.

ST lots of faces to look at.I want to see how the backup catcher looks Heieman switch hitter, and how he works with the pitchers, cause remember he has very little experience.
Also getting a look at Flores playing 1B, that should be interesting. And Sanchez&Wong fighting for jobs..

3 errors (Davis Dubon Solano) in first inning yesterday so things can only get better for Kapler. DRod hit 93 on gun so maybe he can regain some of what he had year before last.
Pavs with cryptic column on who makes it out of ST, saying younger guys with options most vulnerable to being stashed in Sac as opposed to older vets (Sanchez Pence BHam yada yada).

Zion in house tonite, look forward to seeing him.

Mac question for you: does the MAAC still hold league tournament @Siena? iirc they are 13-0 at home this season, yikes!

yes as you posted wild night at top of mens b-ball brackets. Not surprised at BYU they can really score and Zags strained to beat not very good USF the other night. Feel bad for San Diego St. but in a way maybe blessing in disguise. Vegas gave them problems earlier and they have one super scorer.
Wild night in Pac 12 with 2 games decided by a point and home Ls for league leader Colorado and U of A.

        neutral site?

    • Macdog said, on February 23, 2020 at 12:07 pm

Yeah, looks neutral. Monmouth and Rider are the closest schools, and both are over an hour away.

Any fight aficionados catch the Fury/Wilder beat down last night? I was expecting a better showing from Wilder who apparently had his eardrum busted. Yikes. Not a lot of interest in the last installment of the trilogy.

Easy to say Giants won Melancon trade just by getting them to take him and the $$, but Braves also gave up prospect Tristan Beck. Started 2 seasons at Stanford, pitched 70 innings A+ ball for ATL and Giants (San Jose) last year. 6-4 low 90s fastball scouting report says he could add to that. Walks guys (3 a game) but doesn’t give up HRs. Did lot better in San Jose than for Braves team. Rookie ball 22 innings 4.43 ERA.
Projected to be with SF 2021…and they will need all the pitching they can get.

Ohio St. takes down projected #2 seed Maryland 79-72. they hit 21 straight FTs before finally missing one in last 5 seconds.

wow Zion is beast. 3rd Q highlights–open court dunk, score inside off lob pass from Ball, post up easy score over Paschall. Good footwork, good hands, nice finishes using glass.

Pelicans had 46 points at half and were down 10. In 18 minutes of second half they have scored 56 and are up 9 with 6 minutes to go. They don’t play much D (like Warriors who are minus Draymond tonite) but are fun to watch.
Brandon Ingram, Jrue Holiday (who is dominating) D Favors and Zion inside plus outside shooters J J Redick Nicolo Melli Josh Hart and Lonzo Ball to pass ball and keep scorers happy..
Always liked Coach Alvin Gentry too
