A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Tears Not Flowing, Belt Still Sucking, Brady Coming?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on March 4, 2020

Loved the Wilmer bomb yesterday. We need more 3 run home runs. Hey, if he can keep the tears at bay I’m all for this guy on the team to start the season.

Am I imagining this, or didn’t Belt used to do most of his damage in spring training? He’s hitting .214 so far. This is his time to shine, what gives?

Tom Brady. Look man, I don’t give a shit about the next 5 years if we win the Super Bowl next season. I still feel like shit from the loss to KC and it’s just been too long since the last one. I’m not pining for the Niners to get him but trading Jimmy G away wouldn’t bother me one bit. Or keep him, who cares? He’s not terrible. I just don’t think he’s gonna be able to lead us to a SB. He could be there for the ride as long as everyone else did the heavy lifting. But that egg he laid in the SB was enough for me to at least lean elsewhere…..

Maybe the greatest video ever and certainly the greatest nickname ever!!!

laid an egg…um G wasn’t on the field when Mahomes lit up Saleh’s D for all those 4th Q points. At this point in his career last season was his first full one under Shanahan and I think he can only get better. Lynch and Shanahan had his back and I can’t see them pivoting away from him to Brady who is finally just about done.
Division is going to be tougher and Niners have needs as is and will likely lose some pieces off D they need to replace.
Listening to Game 95.7, one guy tweeted in–how would Shanahan look if G went to Patriots and won next 2 SBs? Dumping all the blame on G is huge overreaction and unwarranted imo.

it wasn’t all on Jimmy G. My point was that when it was his time to stand up and lead the team to a SB win he wasn’t ready for the moment. Joe was always ready for the moment. And since Brady’s done it so many times before I would have trusted him in that moment more than Jimmy G. Like I said, I’m not pulling for this but if it happened it would be interesting as hell and if he won us a SB all the naysayers would be dancing in the streets

mm still think G is fully capable of leading Niners to a SB win. Just my take–there is only one Montana and no one will adequately compare to him; to say someone is no Montana is just not fair. To me they have issues on other side of the ball that need to be addressed (D line and secondary), especially vs. mobile QBs, no matter who is QB. Brady is just too big a gamble at his age–he flops Niners are screwed and searching for QB again. And Belichick would be laughing all the way to the bank.

Earl Weaver special from Flores, yes very nice. It does take getting guys on base to do that obviously and off the guys added to roster Z/Harris seem to care about OB. Let’s see if Duggar and BHam can take some walks and provide value at plate with better OB. Posey 2-2 with rbi.
Other side of coin, Gott gave up 3 run bomb in relief. Still think pitching is going to doom Giants this season, unless kids in pen are lights out.

not to mention Watson is not doing much right now and iffy for opening day. Kapler got undone by how awful Phils pitching was last season. He has new blood as pitching coach who has never been more than pen assistant, so who does he go to for advice or how to fix problems? Seems like big learning curve for 2020.

The Giants have a pitcher in camp named Yapson Gomez who has a bizarre human-rain-delay wind-up. I don’t know if there are any online video clips of it out there. You just want to say “Come on, man, seriously?”

The Niners were full of milestones last year beating Seattle in their house was just one of them. They seem to be a pretty complete team and by all rights should be better this coming year. Brady is just about done, I don’t think he is worth the shot.

No way in hell I want Brady…especially if it entails trading Garoppolo. I DO think JG can lead the team to the super bowl, and win. The Niners just need to stay the course with a few tweaks here and there…no major changes are needed, IMO.

If you think Brady leads the Niners to the Super Bowl next year, you are way off. The NFC West is about 15x tougher than the cream puff AFC East, and Brady wouldn’t make it through the season, let alone the playoffs.

Be pissed about the Super Bowl, but to lay this at Garoppolo’ s feet is wrong.

Did they pass a law in the DR that you have to name your kid something ridiculous that starts with the letter “Y”?

Its still early in Spring Training but I’m cautiously optimistic about the offense being better than expected this year. Maybe Belt sucking in Arizona means a better regular season but I caught some highlights over the weekend and he’s moving like a guy who’s knee is ground to dust which is no bueno.

Shanahan & Lynch have spent 3 years changing the culture and they should blow it up for a washed up Brady who had better protection last year and posted worse numbers than Garoppolo? Whatever, it strikes me as Harbaughesq douchbagery that will similarly divide the locker-room and send the franchise back into the wilderness.

Belt looked heavier to me, but maybe I was imagining it. He did look really slow.

    • dirtnrocksnomo said, on March 4, 2020 at 12:14 pm

Hi, James. I’ve seen this mailbag article too but watching Belt it’s obvious to me he’s not moving well. Maybe its his weight as zum mentioned or maybe that’s just the state of his knee going forward. I’m still hoping he puts together a solid year.

      • James said, on March 4, 2020 at 12:57 pm

Haven’t been watching myself, I trust you on this. He’s basically been damaged goods a large part of his career, and that knee is pretty unlikely to get better after two off seasons that didn’t do the trick. Too bad there isn’t an incentive for him to retire. $30+ million has a slight edge over keeping your career OPS over .800.

Anyway, if you happen to be at a game when Gomez is pitching it will probably only cost you an extra beer.

Is Harris on secret super probation? Haven’t heard anything from that guy. Saw Zaidi getting interviewed by Miller and Estes the other night. I’m still not a fan, but Farhan gets a few cred points because it looked like he didn’t get along with Estes. Just sit on the bag Shawn that’s all you had to do, just sit on the bag.

Agree with you Clown 🤡 Harris is quieter then a church fart.Atleast get on the radio are tv during ST and say I’ve got nothing to say in hand signals..

Wouldn’t Brees be the safer bet???? Would like be better if Pats want to trade for Jimmy G but looks like would only be a $4 mill salary cap hit if we cut him…

“Just sit on the bag Shawn that’s all you had to do, just sit on the bag.”

Yeah, I remember it well. It felt, to me, like the turning point in that playoff series. I’d have to go back and see in which game of the series it happened.

I think it was Game 2 vs. the Mets, the J.T. Snow game.

Has it been mentioned on here that BSB (Black Shoes Beede) now has a bad arm? Doesn’t look good.
One of the few guys on the team I was excited about watching this year.

    • djloo27 said, on March 4, 2020 at 4:33 pm

      T.J. DeBerry?

  16. Macdog said, on March 4, 2020 at 6:33 pm

Giants can’t even hit Kershaw in spring training.

  17. Flavor said, on March 4, 2020 at 7:07 pm

Hey I’m rooting for Jimmy G if he comes back. I just don’t have much faith in him. If Brady was our QB next season I’d root for him, too. And if he had the ball on the final drive of the SB needing a TD to win, I’d rather have him QB that drive than Jimmy. I don’t think this any of this is going to happen. It’s just something to kick around in March

lol, feels so much like the old days. It’s like I’m 11 years old all over again

  19. willedav said, on March 4, 2020 at 8:09 pm

Air Force beats Fresno St. in opening round of Mtn. West conference tournament and will face top seeded San Diego St. tomorrow in Vegas.
Sucks about Beede, who apparently will miss some time even if no TJ required…options are Webb who will be on innings limit of 130-ish this season, DRod Suarez. Unfortunate.
