Today I Woke Up Sad
because of this……
I stared at this trying to figure out why one game got canceled and all the rest were postponed. I spent more time wondering about this than I should have. Anyone know why?

Hey Loo. Still alive and mostly well. Now in week 9 of stay at home. If you count the 2 weeks of lunar new year prior to that (which is virtual shut-down over here anyway), it’s 11 weeks. As I prepared to end the holiday and come back to teach at my university, couldn’t have imagined how quickly it would all change. Vietnam did a great job at first. After the first cases in late January, nothing new for weeks. Then things loosened up, and BOOM. Been shut down for weeks again. For me it’s been a bit dark. In the middle of quitting my job and trying to move back to Saigon. Visa problems now, so many restrictions for foreigners. I am reminded of Lloyd Bridges in Airplane: Picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue. I sure picked the wrong time to quit a job and try to move. On we go. Good news is, Ozark Season 3 starts soon. Big shout out to Sarge. You guys in the hospital trenches, everywhere, are saints. Stay safe, Flappers…
Great to see you, Paul!
Also great to *see* you, nice pic rockin’ the Chiefs shirt… and mask… and gloves… brave new world, huh.
Another good read is Cormac McCarthy’s ‘The Road.’
Mays “Legend” show was pretty good. Talk to Gaylord, Mac, Felipe, Davenport, Fuentes, Joe Morgan, Hank Aaron, Jon miller. Lot of ’60s footage, black/white and color. One great shot at AS game of Mays standing btw Frank Robinson and Hank Aaron. He tells story of one year mgr. at AS game said he didn’t know how to make out lineup because he had 8 guys that could hit 3rd. so Mays says he’d make out the lineup, hit himself first to get things going, Clemente second and Aaron third. And said after that it don’t matter.
The next door neighbors on the other side of us, a doctor and a nurse. I have no complaints about my personal circumstances.
Sanchez no no game July 10 2009. Gamer leading off for Giants, Prez C, Bowker in LF Uribe 2b Ishi at cleanup
Pads tony gwynn Jr. hit second and couldn’t catch up to sanchez heater in first inning
And Rowand for the Giants, too. Yikes.
And a less heavy Panda. He had his best season that year.
Sanchez hitting 95 96. Padres uni top is solid dark blue with white trim on sleeve and collar Padres in gold script across the chest and friar on both sleeves. Not bad but um there is another team in blue nobody likes
I wonder how early in the game they’ll show his dad, whatsizname, looking on…
The Sanchez game I remember most fondly was the 2010 NLDS start. Probably because I didn’t see the no-hitter. Mike Kekich is listed as the player most similar to him at age 27. I’ll bet whatsizname would have vetoed any Kekich-like transaction.
I’d read there was going to be a movie about the Kekich thing, but it never happened.
Cruising through first 3 looks very focused and determined, throwing hard. guy had his moments…also got down nice sac bunt in middle of 4 run inning.
Bowker has been up twice, 2 pop ups. this was second day after call up, 0-3 first night made a couple nice grabs in LF as Ishi is at 1b.
Screw Bowker, he has no chance of sticking with this team!
Uribe had kind of a Mohawk haircut.
fun to watch him hit. I think that’s what I enjoy most about these games from past, chance to see some of your fav cool players that are long gone.
So Sandoval hits 3 run bomb. earlier had learned he wasn’t going to AS game. He had 14 bombs and was hitting .330 so they asked trivia question what Giant had highest BA that did not make AS game.
Answer really surprised me.
I forgot the answer already.
A Fransden sighting! lulz
randy Johnson too. had the grizzled vet look down cold.
Loo they didn’t show his Dad until top 8—A Gon hit one to the wall in LF. Dad had stood up and then pumped fist as ball was caught. Next batter Headley, Uribe boots it at 3b for Pads first baserunner then Sanchez throws a wild pitch past the Prez to put runner on 2b. Gets pop fly to RF (nate) and a K to end 8th.
Thanks Wille…
I miss baseball. Shit day today. My company hanging on. Business down 50%. Had to lay someoff today, 2 more to come. Fuck
