When They Finally Play Ball
To be completely honest, I don’t care about the format mlb chooses, I could live with anything that I’ve heard so far. And if they try this, I’ll obviously watch the games. I mean, come on, everyone would. I don’t have any faith this works but if they roll out the product we would all accept it, right?
I’m giving her 2 flaps up for holding a steady hand during her first try ever at cutting my hair. And the result was pretty good, I think.
And if you’re jonesn’ for yester year, give this a listen….
Came out great ๐๐๐!
thanks that was cool segment. In the game from last year that was on couple days ago, Giants got insurance run they wound up needing when A’s LF misplayed a line shot from Pillar that hit off his glove and gave 1.0 a double and two out rbi.
Props on getting good haircut too…if shutdown goes longer than another month no idea what I do.
Let’s say baseball is actually played at some point for say half a season. what would be best 3 man OF Giants could put out there assuming everyone is healthy?
So Willie, I knew you were referring to Frank Duffy last night because Mac had figured out and texted me the answer to Kat’s question. Kat’s guy finished with 382 career bombs, tied with the 2 Howards – Frank & Ryan…
yeah I saw Duffy’s name on team roster that year, pretty funny. I was thinking the guy in question had more HRs than that but couldn’t figure out the 2 guys with same name thing.
2 infamous deals.
Duffy got traded to SF from Reds in the George Foster deal.
and then left when giants traded him and Gaylord Perry for Sam McDowell,
yikes
Looks damn good Flav—and nice job around the ears!
MLB could have actuarial algorithm analysts make a judgment on which 2020 season format would kill the least amount of people. They could call it the new WAR, Wins Against Rona. MLB could determine what is their acceptable level of deaths. Although it wouldnโt really factor in all the ramifications of having a season.
I think WAC sounds better. ๐
I actually almost guessed the answer to Kat’s question, but I was far from sure. Sheer coincidence. That was the year I returned to baseball after a year expended surfing and bumming around the W hemisphere and I devoured box scores etc. that summer. Great question, imo.
Heard a good one on the radio this morning:
What 2 players with the exact same first & last names combined for the most big league HRS?
Clue: The guy on the right below is NOT part of the answer…
Frank Thomas?
You got it!
They edged out the Ken Griffeys by about 25 or so…
Babe Ruth?? ๐
Looking good…an A plus on the cut. The one seeming absolute if they go with this one year realignment is that we are getting stuck with the DH.
I had previously speculated if they could start by June 1 then I could see them playing 30 games in Florida and AZ with no or limited fans. So if that were the case, it is possible to have a 120 game season. Maybe 45 games at home in SF and 45 on the road. Roughly 15 3 game series. No playing the Florida based teams I assume.
Well there are 15 Cactus League teams, so 14 home and series of 3 games makes more sense. Lets say they all play each other twice in AZ one home and one road game and that could be done for the month of June with 28 total games. 42 home and 42 road games makes for 112 game season.
We keep our traditional division and AL West teams just adds the Royals for their division and makes the other Cactus League division of the two Chicago teams, Brewers, Indians and Reds. Would be the most competitive and likely making three wild card teams (should allow for a 3 gane wild card series and 2 best home records getting byes)….
Conceivably having maybe the league championship and world series in a neutral warm weather site (Cactus league at Douchebags field and Citrus pennant series in Miami and maybe splitting the two sites for the World Series) for last half of October and start of November to alleviate any Covid cold weather fears.
Attendees could likely have Covid testing passes/requirements to get into the neutral warm weather sites.
Didn’t see this while I was typing my 11:38, GH…

It’s actually a damn good idea as long as they’re sure about safety.
Amazingly, 15 teams train in Florida & 15 in Arizona.
They’d make 3 divisions of 5 teams in each state based on their real geography.
If you played the 4 teams in your division 12 times each and the other 10 teams 6 times each,
it would be 108 game season – you could play it in 15 weeks. Good enough, I’d say and you
could start it sometime in July.
Sounds like that anti-body test is the key to re-starting anything right now…
โItโs actually a damn good idea as long as theyโre sure about safety.โ
Theyโre not, so it isnโt.
Zumiee, if I had to bet on it, I think the season will be canceled.
It’s just something to kick around in case things tremendously improve.
A lot can happen in 90 days – good and bad…
Agree theyโre is just too many players and coaches, trainers etc to be tested weekly, it only takes a few getting sick to wipeout the season!
Read where Dodgers President Stan Kasten said he was not hopeful for a season, saying :Its in God hands at this point! I tend to agree…
Flavor your daughter Katie did a nice job for a 1st attempt, I give her 2 flaps up as well.
Question..So overall what do you think of the cutting sheers you purchased from Amazon? The cordless idea with the charging unit and power level looks like a nice feature.Had some good ratings as well it looks like?
it’s the only clippers I’ve ever owned so i have no frame of reference. The cordless feature is great and the unit is easy to hold on to. For the price, I’m fine with it. I think I paid $60 or so inclu shipping
In this photo of a mass grave in New York City, I hadnโt noticed theyโre stacking the coffins double-decker.

You can see that if you enlarge the photo.
that type of burial has been happening for many, many years in NY. Anyone w/o a next of kin or who can’t afford a burial ends up there.
The rate of these types of burials is way up, by 100s of percent.
i know that, but the way you posted it without qualifying it made it look like this was brand new or something.
Stacking coffins double-decker is a damn good idea…
In and Out offers a 3 by 3..Oops thatโs a hamburger not stacking coffins โฐ๏ธ
OK, BF, I’m sold. What brand, #, etc. did you buy?
OSF
looks like they’re out of stock for a bit but this is what i bought

I’ve been using that tinyurl thing since Twinfan clued me in years ago.
The new season of Brockmire is a kick. It starts off by fast-forwarding to the year 2031, and whatโs happened to baseball by then. Itโs hilariously harsh. I think this is the final season of Brockmire.
I just saw the finale of Modern Family, and that was very good. All the various storylines were well done.
Giants TV network is broadcasting two retro Giants games starting at 4 Pacific Time.
Is it true that if they cancel the season, the Dodgers lose Mookie Betts and the prospects they gave up for him?
i was wondering about that, too. Let’s hope that’s what happens
It’s funny to us, but really not fair.
I don’t think they’ll sit still for that.
We’d be out of our minds it was out team getting screwed…
From what Iโve read, if the season is cancelled, it still counts as a season of service time, and Betts is a free agent this Fall.
yes they do. everyone gets prorated service time based on 2019.
It’s not fair to Betts either to have to sit out another season to wait to collect as FA.
Same thing would happen to A’s Marcus Semien. Even with a QA attached he’s very valuable player. I have a feeling the A’s are gonna be screwed in long run and their pipe dream stadium ain’t gonna happen. They’ll have the same old problem they’ve had for awhile—do you want to pay up to keep your better players or not?
for Betts to have to “wait” another year to reach FA is more accurate.
I wonder why NY just doesn’t cremate?
We’re low on matches…
๐ฅโฐ๏ธ
The prorated service time also affects Kris Bryant too.
BF, I just bought one! $51. What’s the deal with tinyurl?
OSF
nice! It’s just a website where you can go put a super long link in and it turns it in to something small–it’s a website I wish more people here would use ๐ ๐
Like for videos?
I’ll cooperate…
I used tinyurl for a long time; I also learned about it from TF. The habit got so ingrained I used it once in a work email. It triggered the firm’s security system and all hell broke loose for a half hour or so. The IT guy knew what it was, of course. Pretty funny in the end.
The first game Giants are showing right now is the Dickerson break out game at AZ from June21 last season.
I think they showed this couple weeks ago; it might have been voted in by fans. giants won 77 games last season. They could put every single one on and it would last a long time if all they wanted to show were Ws and highlights..
I love if if the Dodgers get screwed out of Betts services!
Iโm not feeling the same about Astros Hinch& Lunhow (sp) getting time served and basically sliding with no punishment attached now !Thats Major BS, itโs like Manfred is getting paid off by Astros!
Should just show all theyโre games in July, the only month they were winning ..
Maybe they should show all 18 spring training games, since nobody remembers how any of those games turned out.
i am not following this super closely but if the players want to get paid I think we’re going to see them try this.
Owners get large part of revenue from TV from what I understand.. Even without fans they can recoup some of what is lost. But it does add another layer to those in attendance.
btw, saw yahoo survey that said Mr. Johnson principal owner of Giants, is second wealthiest in all of MLB.
Just for shits & giggles, who is #1?
Second game airing right now is Poms at AZ from May 19.
Panik was at lead off Tyler Austin hit 3rd MTO and Duggar were 7/8, vs. LHP Robbie ray no less.
Kat I stopped at Johnson to read the bio. iirc he was listed at $3.3 billion; the article just showed top 5 and the others weren’t much lower than Johnson.
An “MTO” reference. Took me a few minutes to figure it out.
Still waiting for Mac to sue the Giants, or baseball, or somebody.
He will, and so will the families of the victims in the Kobe helicopter disaster.
Everything on hold for now…
main track only?
Mac The Oaf!
other sites list this differently. giants rated top 5 in all baseball by Forbes
I fully believe the 2020 season will be cancelled, but if they played the games, the players would have to wear protective masks, I would think. This one minute video is disturbing.
This was obscured by the green vapor cloud:
Just a little update from over here: of course people everywhere are gettin’ itchy for the lockdowns to ease up; even here in VN, where people have been extremely compliant with gov’t rules, there has been optimism the lockdown will end soon, and people are starting to be out a bit more now. The key to the optimism is that containment at home has worked pretty well, but the big *hope* is that opening back up won’t result in more new infections because more people now have had it already and their immunity is stronger.
Uh….. a quick look to the north, China (after opening up over the last few weeks) is experiencing a lot of new cases. This thing is not going away quietly or quickly. Personally, I’m stuck in Hanoi until restrictions lift, just waiting to move back to Saigon. I could see the lockdown easing for a couple of weeks, and then the whole thing explodes again and lockdown comes back. I’m packin’ myself a “go bag” to be ready if a window opens, because I have little confidence that window will stay open for long if they open up too soon. Big crowds at sporting events in July?…………
Yeah Great work Mac!
Ok Iโm rolling up my sleeves to get this list further completed!
A couple of utility scrubs…Andy Allanson&Craig Colbert!!
