A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Golf

Following the Outlaw golf tourney online today. Caleb Gorbahn is the *eagle man* on the Outlaw tour. Eric Lilleboe pretty consistently hits the top 10. Two different set of brothers, the Paul’s and the Longmire’s are playing. Good God, what is happening to me?

Didn’t realize this until last night watching the unguardable Kevin Durant drive right past LB and torch Cavs.
JaVale McGee’s mom is Pam McGee from USC and Flint Michigan. She is quite a decorated player, winning HS state titles and back to back NCAA titles alongside Cheryl Miller and Cynthia Cooper couple legends of women’s b-ball. Plus her daughter Imani is in the WNBA.

LMAO. I must lead a sheltered life…I have never heard of the Outlaw golf tourney. But then, I only watch golf maybe for the major tourneys, and then only if I have nothing else going on. Hell, a motorcycle ride will usually take priority over watching golf.

BF, have you tried “International Bowling”? That’s about the most boring sport ever televised.

I think Twin would have been into politics 100% about now.

Well, well, well, look at BF’s SI article. Can’t wait to lay it on those clueless people in Tampa.

You want boring? Try following the World Championship of Tiddlywinks..

  7. dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 14, 2020 at 9:27 am

Anyone else been following the Baseball 100 series over at the A? While I disagreed with some of the rankings; Rickey Henderson at #24 seems off the mark and Jeff Bagwell in the discussion of the top 100 is such a joke I almost stopped following the series but still it has been pretty good list with a decent sprinkling of historic Giants players.

The final 3 were released over the last week going #3 Bonds, #2 Ruth & #1 Sey Hey. Hard to argue with that.

    • Winder said, on April 14, 2020 at 9:43 am

When you add all the talents that Henderson brought to the table I would want Rickey to be my starting LF. Next to Wills and maybe even more so than wills he disrupted pitchers and won games by his sheer presence. He wasn’t the power hitter many LF’s are but he was a total game changer. Those lists are pretty subjective anyway.

      • dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 14, 2020 at 9:59 am

I agree that it’s highly subjective but Bagwell?? For me personally Henderson is top 10 easily and arguably in the top 5 and I would take him starting in LF for sure.

      • Winder said, on April 14, 2020 at 10:39 am

        I feel he’s a top 5 also.

sent a text to coaching buddy of mine wondering if any of the fund raising events for local Buddhist churches known as bazaars will happen this summer. Youth group where I coach uses their facilities on occasion; really hoping schools and gyms will be open by fall so our weekend programs that use middle and HS facilities can continue to do that. And that kids teachers and families will be able to get back some sense of normal by then.

NASCAR driver Kyle Larson fired from his racing crew and sponsors for saying the N-word with a live mic on in a virtual race…
I don’t know maybe they should ban live mics in all sports, to easy to slip up in a heat of the moment situation..

  11. unca_chuck said, on April 14, 2020 at 12:58 pm

Slip up? Heat of the moment in a virtual race? That’s more of a true feelings moment.

we can lock-up hundreds of children, treat em like criminals but we must remember to be PC when we open our mouths. There is a double standard.

  13. unca_chuck said, on April 14, 2020 at 1:35 pm

These things have nothing to do with each other. “We” aren’t locking up children.

Every thing is related. Hatred is hatred in all forms.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 14, 2020 at 2:58 pm

It seems to me your point is you think it’s acceptable to use the ‘n’ word in certain situations. My point is that it isn’t.

      • Winder said, on April 14, 2020 at 3:21 pm

chuck- I don’t think it’s ok to say anything hurtful or derogatory about people. My point was that one word can destroy a person’s career, livelihood, and family is some cases. When the real serious problems are sitting right in front of our faces. Such as the mass child abuse going on daily on our borders.

  14. xoot said, on April 14, 2020 at 2:01 pm

Excellent point, well stated. I’ve been involved a bit on a pro bono basis in a class action lawsuit involving hundreds of caged teenage asylum applicants the trump admin separated from parents and then force-fed psychotropic drugs–to stun the kids into quiescence and silence. Some reacted by committing suicide. I’ve also learned a lot about the larger, general problem of caged kids, too. Many are being slaughtered in slow motion. The lives of most of those who survive will be ruined. I’m sure as shit not doing any of that.

For some reason replays of the Warriors great games aren’t nearly as interesting to me as the Giants replays. Well, it’s a sunny day. Time to don the mask and take a walk through the empty country club golf course next door.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 14, 2020 at 3:12 pm

What Trump is doing to children in the name of border security will be felt for decades in this country. This is how other power hungry charlatans in the middle east breed terrorists.

  15. Winder said, on April 14, 2020 at 2:48 pm

I guess I should have said Americans.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 14, 2020 at 3:15 pm

It isn’t even Americans. It is a specific person doing this. Someone who enacted a draconian policy that will hurt this country for years and years and years.

      • Winder said, on April 14, 2020 at 3:23 pm

Tru dat- but he has a very large following that are going to vote once again for him. They are just as guilty.

      • Winder said, on April 14, 2020 at 3:28 pm

chuck- Trump couldn’t do this all by himself he has lots of support. This is basically what got him elected in the first place.

  16. djloo27 said, on April 14, 2020 at 4:29 pm

Trump could probably be beaten easily by someone who could rally people and inspire some confidence.
Biden is just not the guy…

    • Flavor said, on April 14, 2020 at 4:40 pm

you’re right, he’s not. And fucking Trump is going to hand him his ass in debates. I have fully braced myself for another 4 years of this psychopath.

      • Winder said, on April 14, 2020 at 4:52 pm

Kinda like 2016. No one really liked clinton. i think a lot of people were fooled by how Trump has run the country since then and hopefully will vote their conscience. Maybe if Biden picks a strong woman to be VP it will bring in more votes.

Joel Youngblood is a very forgotten Giant.
I don’t think I’ve seen his name 5 times in all the years here and on the Splash.
I thought he always played hard…

      • Winder said, on April 14, 2020 at 5:26 pm

He did play hard. I saw him hit a couple of nice shots over the LF fence too. He was a great back-up. Always liked Champ Summers also.

      • willedav said, on April 14, 2020 at 5:44 pm

just had some issues on IF. Decent utility guy who could fill in at multiple positions type hitter…sometimes overall numbers make a guy look less valuable than he is to a team.

Biden is better than some of y’all might think. Check out his debate performance vs. Paul Ryan in 2012. He routed Ryan. Plus, by November, the hatred by the American people toward Trump is going to be epic. On a Herbert Hoover level.

    • Flavor said, on April 14, 2020 at 7:19 pm

that was 8 years ago and it seems he’s taken a hit, mentally. He’s clearly a lot slower than he used to be.

      • chipower9 said, on April 15, 2020 at 8:07 am

I think little if any of this has to do with mental capacity, and is most related to his speech impediment. He is 100 times better than trump on trump’s best day. Period.

The pivotal state of Wisconsin just elected a progressive judge over a conservative judge, in an election where people had to stand in line and risk their lives to vote.

    • xoot said, on April 14, 2020 at 6:59 pm

The judicial race was for a seat on the state supreme court. trump campaigned hard for the conservative crank, who was an incumbent. The republican party did everything it could to suppress voter turn out. The liberal judge kicked the crank’s ass–in a swing state that went for trump by only 23,000 votes in 2016.

wille, did you hear all the helicopter action earlier?
Helicopter was circling downtown due to someone on the trail near Campbell park.
According to the announcement and other neighbors, this helicopter was circling over the Campbell area with a muffled announcement. It went along the lines of: “Ladies and gentlemen, please stay away from a man that cops are in pursuit in. He has been tested positive for COVID-19.” Minutes later announcement: “The man has been secured. (apprehended), Thank you for your cooperation”.

    • willedav said, on April 14, 2020 at 7:55 pm

wow no I didn’t man. I’m not on nextdoor or anything like that. Obviously big event in the hood.
You know once they do start testing people on ramped up basis, what will happen if someone at say a pharmacy does test positive? Immediate forced self quarantine? When/where would they test them again?

      • dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 14, 2020 at 8:10 pm

Yup – who knows. The helicopter kept circling for about 5-10 mins so we went outside because we couldn’t quite make out the message and a neighbor told us what they heard. I’m told a patrol car drove up the trail in pursuit. My guess is someone who tested positive left their self quarantine and someone called the cops. Not sure how else they’d know. 🤷‍♂️

I have no idea how this turns out election wise. I just wish Franken was running but the Dem circular firing squad got him.

I just can’t figure out how people see any redeeming qualities in Trump. His daily ass-kiss-fests are the rantings of a 5 year old.

Biden? Christ. He’s trustworthy, a sensible guy, certain;y much better than Orange Julius Caesar, blah blah blah, but he isn’t on his game anymore. The best the Dems can come up with is another old white guy? I don’t get it. Then again, none of the cast of thousands were very compelling.

Franken was the only guy I really liked. He would blow Trump out of the water 100 fucking ways. Gah. If Trump wins, his family will follow. Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, Barron. I feel bad for my children.

Hard to believe this is the best they could do with 4 years to groom a few candidates…

      • chipower9 said, on April 15, 2020 at 8:10 am

But the worst they can come up with/groom over four years (yep, even a fucking old white guy) is better than trump, any day, all day, and twice on Sunday.

Biden’s blandness or whatever is appealing to a lot of people after 3 1/2 years of the Trump circus hell-show. Biden is seen by a lot of people as a chance to return to some kind of normalcy. Biden as comfort food, basically. Sanders’ call for a revolution was off-key for this election.

    • djloo27 said, on April 14, 2020 at 8:06 pm

Biden’s appeal is that he’s not Trump.
Much like Trump’s appeal was that he wasn’t Hilary…

  28. zumiee said, on April 14, 2020 at 8:17 pm

“I just can’t figure out how people see any redeeming qualities in Trump”

He gave them two conservative Supreme Court picks. That was worth it to them. They don’t care that he’s a criminal sociopath who’s done a lot of damage to the nation.

  29. Flavor said, on April 14, 2020 at 8:37 pm

it’s probably pretty impossible to find an electable candidate—in either party. Think about it, first you have to find someone who wants the job–man, fuck that job, I wouldn’t take it if it was given to me today. You have to have some pretty major control issues to be that driven to chase it. Then, you gotta have a clean past. How many people can say they have a clean past? Then, you have to appeal to a majority, a lot of that is personality which most people don’t have. THEN, you gotta have a platform that has some real legs to it that can also be bi-partisan enough for both sides to at least tolerate—that’s the main thing that was gonna kill Bernie.
In the end, the pool to choose from is tiny and grim. That’s how the dems got HRC and now Biden.

    • willedav said, on April 14, 2020 at 9:11 pm

kinda funny that medicare for all doesn’t seem like such a bad idea anymore, especially for those out of work or older with funky health care or none at all. Bernie though just doesn’t want to work with people, including the party he doesn’t even belong to.
Like HRC he brings out immediate dislike. What I want to see how much effort he brings to push his constituency to VOTE for biden. Many Dems especially women could not bring themselves to do that for Hillary.

  30. zumiee said, on April 14, 2020 at 10:18 pm

Clearly Trump is worried enough about Biden to have gotten himself impeached trying to get a foreign nation to help Trump commit election fraud versus Biden.

  31. zumiee said, on April 14, 2020 at 10:37 pm

If Hillary had been president, she wouldn’t have wasted 2 months downplaying the virus and calling it a hoax. She has respect for science.
