This is concerning if they are trading down for MORE picks.

Screenshot 2020-04-20 at 6.56.12 AM

If they get ballsy and trade up I’d be down with that. The Niners have a good core they are returning nearly everyone. They need an impact offensive player, preferably a stud wide receiver. They have drafted pretty terribly at that position over the years since Rice. Who could forget JJ Stokes. Later it was AJ Jenkins. And most recently Dante Pettis. And I’m calling bust on Pettis now unless he was dealing with some major under the radar injury. That dude was so far into Kyle’s doghouse and you know he must suck considering the WR’s Kyle ran out there last season. But we need to hit on a stud and we need to do it this year while the window is still open.

We have 2 first round picks. If I had to I’d trade both of them to the Raiders to get to Jeudy and then get back a couple of the Raiders 3rd round picks (they have 3 this year). Who’s with me on that one?

From the end of the last thread- all the Trump 2020 signs and other campaign gear didn’t just magically appear at the protests.
Trump wants to take credit if reopening the economy goes well, and he wants to blame governors and others if it doesn’t go well.

    • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:17 am

of course. He’s an idiot who wants to say he’s the king but take zero responsibility for anything. That doesn’t change the fact that there are good people out there who are desperate to start working again. Desperation will make a person do things they wouldn’t otherwise do….

      • zumiee said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:19 am

It’s not smart on their part to be out there. And I doubt there are very many non-Trump supporters out there.

      • zumiee said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:20 am

It takes people living in the Fox News bubble to be that unafraid of the virus.

      • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:21 am

who cares if they’re a trump supporter or not? Does that change the fact that some of them have lost everything and just need to get back to working to support their family?

      • zumiee said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:24 am

In their cult, Trump must be supported, no matter what. In their minds it’s all melded together. Their lives and Trump-support are one entity.

Gee, where did all the identical U.S. flags come from?

      • zumiee said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:28 am

They haven’t “lost everything.” They still have their lives. Well, they did until this dumb stunt. Hopefully they didn’t infect each other.

      • James said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:24 am

The “good people” are not the AR carrying, flag-waving dimwits on the streets. These displays aren’t about economic frustrations boiling over.

      • James said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:31 am

I guess the timestamps and order of these posts could help me make the case that I really did beat WillieD to the answer yesterday.

Some of signs in the crowd photo are machine-printed in a font to look hand-painted.

Lot of divahood at wideout; don’t think Raiders help out SF as they will take one too. Still need to find depth on D line to help replace Buckner and at corner as this might be Sherman’s last year there. If they like guys they think will be available later, fine.
Sad about Pettis–watched him a lot at UW and he tore up Pac 12 receiving and on returns. Just hasn’t found that next gear needed to compete at pro level. Yes as much as he has been in doghouse tells me it’s as much mental as physical. Dad of course is Gary Pettis.

    • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:31 am

Didn’t the Niners trade up to draft him? I think they did. That always makes a bust worse. I don’t think they traded up for AJ Jenkins but I recall people saying they drafted him multiple rounds too early.

  3. chipower9 said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:36 am

Fuck trump and his blind, zealous, dumbass supporters. If they contact the virus, they deserve it purely for their stupidity.

On the Niners, I would sit-tight at 13. They are damned near guaranteed to get one of the top receivers, there. My preference, as I have shared before, is CeeDee Lamb, but any of the three are good. Jeudy is a close second for me.

The only way I would trade-up, is if there was known interest by other teams and all three of the top WRs would be gone by 13.

Re: the 31st pick. I would look for a decent CB or OL (think Staley replacement) there, or possibly trade down for additional picks.

But, I am with you Flav…IMO they must get one of the top receivers at 13. Time to break that funk on drafting a kick-ass WR.

Yesterday, the Giants network showed a couple of the championship parades and celebrations. I watched some of it again.
3 championships in 5 years is insanely fantastic and hard to fully appreciation. We can only try. 🙂

    • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:57 am

Loo called this right after either the 3rd one: we would pay the piper for this for the rest of our lives. And he’s been spot on so far….

      • James said, on April 20, 2020 at 8:13 am

It’s also 3 championships in 60 years, which is about what you’d expect, given the number of teams competing. If most Flappers live another ~ 20 years, and there’s a more even distribution of the WS wins we’re entitled to over the next 60, there’s a good shot of witnessing 1 more. Zaidi knows this, and he will be held accountable!

        I hope I’ve brought some hope . . . .

  5. willedav said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:58 am

I’d be OK with any of the top wideouts. to me Niners already have number of impact offensive players, at QB running back and tight end and Samuel had breakout season and should be for years to come. Ability to control game on the ground will go a long ways.

I’m more concerned about being able to control game vs. mobile QBs…Russell Wilson and K Murray are going to continue to be a problem for Saleh. Watching Murray in that 2018 game vs. Texas, wow. He made a play on designed run where he took off to his left cut by a guy to sideline and outran everyone to end zone 66 yrds untouched. He’s bigger stronger smarter now. Division is gonna be tougher next year.

I thought answer yesterday thread might be Evans once Loo did the heavy work of figuring out Montanez (1b) was the guy traded away; was unsure as to when he joined Giants so I did look up Evans career on B/R first.

    • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:59 am

He’s also wearing the funniest piece of right-wing funded fake “grassroots” gear I’ve ever seen. He’s wearing a brand-new hat that says “American worker” on it. That’s pretty funny.

  9. unca_chuck said, on April 20, 2020 at 8:08 am

There’s a point to be made Ruggs is the best fit for what we need. An outside speed guy.

    • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 8:18 am

I don’t pretend to know who the best WR is. Greg Cosell says Jeudy is *by far and a away* the best of the 3.

  10. dirtnrocksnomo said, on April 20, 2020 at 8:21 am

With better pass protection the current WR corps is good enough but adding someone with speed who can catch only helps. If Pettis could get past the “look at my purple hair” “I’m a cat” nonsense maybe he’d focus on improving and be that guy. Or he just sucks. Whatever.
I’m thinking the 49ers go DL/CB with one of their 1st round picks and and trade out with the other.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 20, 2020 at 8:26 am

Ruggs is a great route runner with 4.26 speed.

i don’t really care what we do in the draft as long as we don’t give away Buckner for nothing. He’s a pro-bowler and we need to get a pro-bowler for him. Just watching Pettis in training camp he just seems to project a diva attitude, either that or he’s gay(though nothing wrong with that). IMHO. Whatever, he has the tools so I guess it’s make or break this year.

  14. willedav said, on April 20, 2020 at 8:50 am

Defending mobile QBs…scheme or players? Niners had Mahomes pretty well contained til, of course, they didn’t. Pass rush, shutting off running lanes, ability to cover for x amount of more seconds,.. Jackson is still out there plus Mahomes and more faster QBs are coming out of college every season who have years of training in spread systems starting from HS. Mahomes was getting tutored in middle school.

Freaking Wilson bothers me the most; even when you beat him he is still scary. He always seems to find an answer, a dump off or someone deep. You know the f-ing seachickens have to be pissed to have gotten so close to end zone and come up empty.

    • Winder said, on April 20, 2020 at 8:53 am

I think Wilson is the best QB in the league.

There has been an epic societal shift, where most of the people economically effected by this pandemic are minimum wage, high school diploma/non-technical workers. This will NEVER change or at least not much. In effect, you’ve displaced so much of the work force that 2 things are certain: 1. Most of these people will not find comparable employment ever again; and, 2. How do you address that, e.g., adopting an even more extreme version of Andrew Yang’s idea about providing a $1000 a month universal basic income (UBI); and/or universal health care (medicare for all)?

No way, no how, are we going back to the way things were in my opinion. There are going to be so many seismic like changes which are going to happen in society, that I feel certain we’ve said “bye bye” to the way life was prior to this pandemic. By the by, personally I have been against having a gun since my late 20s . . . Not only have I shifted regarding that view, but I am currently investigating a shot gun for home defense (Remington Defender), rifle for hunting, and a 9mm hand gun (Glock), as well as a home in the mountains again (California when I get out there in May).

    • xoot said, on April 20, 2020 at 10:02 am

I always liked the Glocks. Guy I worked with back in the 90s, now a N. Calif. Superior Court judge, brought a guncase full of arms to my office one day to show me why he liked each one. His Glock was his favorite handgun. Funny thing — I was actually more impressed with his personal gun safe, which he described in detail. He had a toddler at home. Personally, I don’t see how a gun would do me much good in Oakland without a carry permit.

Blade – I have a Glock 19. LOVE it. It is a great handgun. Very comfortable. I eventually plan to get a concealed carry license so I can have it for backpacking in the boonies. Highly recommended. I did a LOT of research before pulling the trigger (pun intended) on the Glock 19.

      • blade3colorado said, on April 20, 2020 at 11:09 am

Thanks Chi. That will probably be the 2nd weapon I buy after I buy a house, with the shot gun first. Like I said earlier, I like the Remington Defender with a pistol type grip (model 870/TAC 14 below):

I will definitely look into the Glock 19. I had a Browning Hi-Power back in my 20s, along with a “Saturday Night Special” type .22 . . . Forgot who made it. Anyway, I got rid of all my guns when I married my first wife (long story, but in a nutshell, her entire family was even more liberal then I).

      • xoot said, on April 20, 2020 at 12:04 pm

I’ll bet it’s easier to get a CCL in El Dorado County than it is around here. I shot many different guns quite a bit in Alaska, but never bought any. That was years ago. The one year I spent in Anchorage when I was married I didn’t have a gun, but I didn’t need one. Everybody owned guns; everybody assumed that I did. Same effect, essentially, at least for one year.

      • djloo27 said, on April 20, 2020 at 12:12 pm

On the NFL draft — trading two to move up is exactly what the Niners did to be able to pick Jerry Rice, correct? These days, info and data being what they are, doesn’t every team know in advance what every other team is likely to do? Are there any rules that restrict backroom deals and collusion?

  19. alleykat69 said, on April 20, 2020 at 10:10 am

This is the strongest WR class since 2015 which featured Watkins,Evans,Beckham,Cooks,Benjamin all 1st rounders..
Yeah if I’m the 49ers I need to jump on a difference maker like Juedy,Lamb, are Ruggs!
I think most of us would agree, that on TV watching a great receiver run routes, split the secondary for a big play are TD with a QB like Jimmy G capable of hitting those in stride with a offensive guru like Shanny (best in the league calling plays imo) is the move that has to be made..

  20. Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 10:37 am

At a traffic light the guy gets off of his Harley and starts walking to Larry’s car in a threatening manner, and saying threatening things, and Larry puts on the MAGA hat quickly and says “Oh sorry about that, man, I didn’t see you,” and the mean-looking biker says softly “Oh…..uh….that’s alright man. News item: “US oil prices plunged, falling below $0 Monday. At one point, oil fell to $-1.43 a barrel.”

Hey, they’ll pay us to put gas in our cars! Har dee har har! I know that’s not what that means. Actually, I have no idea what that means.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 20, 2020 at 11:57 am

Essentially, it means that storage tanks are at the brim, i.e., no one has any storage capacity. Airlines can’t take it, nor any storage facility in the USA or abroad. Consequently, there are zero buyers. This has nothing to do with gasoline prices, nor will it reflect any time soon in gasoline prices going down. For reference, remember that WTI crude oil was at around $146 per barrel in 2007 or 2008 . . . Also, you’re incorrect – oil future contracts are not -$1.43 a barrel, but far worse at negative $37.63 per barrel.

      • zumiee said, on April 20, 2020 at 12:10 pm

Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering what that meant.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 20, 2020 at 12:14 pm

If you have any cash, invest in the shippers, whom all will be off shore temporary storage facilities @ approximately $120 thousand dollars a day rates. DHT and TNP (stock symbols) will benefit enormously.

Xoot, I like them . . . they are highly rated by a number of analysts, e.g., Credit Suisse has them at $34 a share in 12 months. That being said, all U.S. and Canada based oil producers are being squeezed by OPEC “plus” and the Russians recent disagreement on oil production cutbacks. Consequently, shale producers (US and Canada) are effected, mostly because the cost of extracting their oil out of the ground is much, much more expensive vs. the Saudis, Russians, etc. I think the difference is around $20 to $25 dollars more expensive to extract. In any event, in the USA and Canada, there is only going to be the strongest that survive, with a lot of bankruptcy and MA (consolidation) going on.

    • xoot said, on April 20, 2020 at 12:59 pm

People like EPD’s dividend and as a transportation etc. provider, rather than a producer, fluctuations in oil price usually don’t much matter. The current situation is more than a fluctuation, though, as you explain.

The latest fracking boom in the Texas (and southern NM) Permian Basin does have the advantage of being based on light crude. There’s a demand for that. But other countries can pump up even better stuff without fracking. Isn’t it amazing that so much of the world’s light sweet crude is under the ground in Iran and Saudi Arabia?

btw, I’m a very unadventurous investor. No timing, no wheeling-dealing. Blue chips and dividends. Put together something for my kids so they have a chance to survive this millennium.

      • blade3colorado said, on April 20, 2020 at 1:15 pm

Day traders ALWAYS LOSE, except for maybe 6% . . . and they mostly reside on Wall Street, with their high speed servers and/or algorithm based pc programs. This is especially true for those individuals that are doing options, particularly those whom short the market (puts). I feel sorry for Gen Xers, and other youngsters that open a RobinHood trading account and think they are going to get rich. They rarely do. Go back to the very beginning of the USA stock market and the DOW and S&P have gone up just about every year. The miracle of compound interest (i.e., what you said about dividends) have made people quite wealthy. Consequently, someone like yourself will always do good.

That being said, I do like swing trades of a few days to a few weeks, especially in this pandemic environment. At one point (mid March), I was down approximately $100-$120k. I never sweat paper, unrealized losses. In my mind, these are opportunities to buy – which I did. Fast forward today, I am still down a few thousand dollars, but far better positioned to go forward and make much, much more money than before this pandemic happened.

Mike – definitely easier to get a concealed-carry permit in El Dorado county than many other counties. Still a year-plus process. I have taken a few of the basic handgun classes at our local range, and once this is over, will get back on track, eventually taking a pre-req concealed carry class. The range even helps you put your package together.

Sounds both responsible and fairly fun. I’d have trouble with the good-cause requirement. “Well, officer, I need to carry my gun because I’m getting on in years and you people at the OPD can’t seem to keep the armed thugs off the street.”

      • djloo27 said, on April 20, 2020 at 5:02 pm

I bet Zumiee remembers McCartney’s OPD patch on the cover of Sgt. Pepper and what it was rumored to stand for…

Chi what is the difference between a concealed weapon permit or a LTC( license to carry) do both situations mandate like open glovebox are just visible gun on seat?

      • chipower9 said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:41 pm

Kat – I have no idea what license to carry is, or what it allows. Would have to google it. Concealed carry means exactly that. You can carry it on person, but must be concealed. With a concealed carry, I think you would be fine to have your handgun in your center console or glovebox.

A good friend I grew-up with back in Oklahoma was driving home one night and got stopped by an OK highway patrol. Doug tells the officer, just so you know, I have a concealed carry permit, and my weapon is in my center console. The highway patrol officer ask him what he carries, and this turns into a 10 minute chat about this gun or that gun, and comparing weapons. Highway patrolman tells him to slow down and no ticket.

Everyone on the Giants knew it was coming. Don’t know if anyone said “we’ll back you up” or not.

      Maybe participation wasn’t mandatory.

      • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 2:45 pm

I mean, you back up your teammates right?

      • alleykat69 said, on April 20, 2020 at 2:59 pm

As little as I cared about Stricknine and his 10 cent mind, yes he is still your teammate and Buster acted like a pussy.I don’t know any other catcher ever that wasn’t right in the ruckus immediately!

      • djloo27 said, on April 20, 2020 at 3:53 pm

I can’t remember what led up to it.
        Anyone?

      • willedav said, on April 20, 2020 at 4:27 pm

loo wasn’t it bat flip over bomb he hit? Didn’t they mention it was how ever long it was since they’d faced each other?

  32. willedav said, on April 20, 2020 at 3:09 pm

Just my take but I still think Posey said, hey look you do what you want but you’re on your own. Don’t think lot of his other teammates cared much either.

I wonder if Stix weapon was legal…

    • xoot said, on April 20, 2020 at 3:43 pm

sure. iirc it was the type of 30-30 deer rifle every child in Minn receives as a gift for his or her sixth birthday

    • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 5:06 pm

i know that damn rake was legal. Fuck the PO-lice.

40 thou likes…”there will be more.” KC fans I don’t think you want to follow this.

    • djloo27 said, on April 20, 2020 at 4:46 pm

Much as I’d like one of those 2 elite ILBs (Murray & Queen – from what I’ve read), Chiefs would be smart to draft nothing but bodyguards for Mahomes. And his dopey GF should stop climbing on him…

I think I was 13 when just about every boy in our neighborhood took part in an NRA shooting class with 22 cal rifles. You had a standing, sitting, and prone tests that you had to pass to get your certificate. Which meant you could get your hunting license. I don’t shoot much anymore but there was a period in my life when i did and it was a sort of meditation for me. After about 5 minutes at the range i just lost all cares and stresses of that day. Like if I had a bad day at work after a couple of minutes of shooting I would just forget about it. Kinda like gardening is now, almost. Never had a Clock but i had a few automatics but my favorite was the model 19 Smith and Wesson revolver which is a 357.

    • Winder said, on April 20, 2020 at 4:14 pm

What I wanted to say was that automatics at times might jam at least it happened to me a few times. And, I was using the right ammo for it.

mm MAGA protests in Sacramento to get Newsom to loosen restrictions. According to what I read on Chron online, this was organized by the group against mandatory vaccines. wow they have zero credibility for that position. Look you don’t want your kids to be vaccinated then absolutely stay home and don’t endanger everyone else.

Loo story was on mlb.com when suspensions were announced. Harper hit one into McCovey Cove off Strick in 2014 division series. Story said it was second he’d hit off Strick; he stood and admired it at plate then barked at Strick as he rounded bases.

Kiper has Jeudy to Jags at 9 and Lamb to your 49ers…

    • Flavor said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:52 pm

well Kiper’s an idiot so my prediction is the Jags will take a defensive player with their first pick. One of the best angles to succeed in gambling is to just go the opposite of what the idiot predicts.

  39. alleykat69 said, on April 20, 2020 at 6:25 pm

I think the 49ers want Ruggs. He’s the latest version of Tyreek Hill( hopefully without the baggage)Shanahan can use it space with that 4.26 speed and maybe punt returns/Kick off as well.
He hardly drops a pass with his huge hands measuring over 10 inches, capable of breaking in play to the house..

    Mike Curtis passed away.
He was like a miniature Butkus…

  41. alleykat69 said, on April 20, 2020 at 7:01 pm

Wow that’s a bummer.Mike Curtis was a ferocious hitter even though like Loo said was undersized.
I remember a game when he was still playing for the Colts, when he even decked a stupid fan who ran out on the field delaying the game.It was awesome 👏
    RIP Mike

      • zumiee said, on April 20, 2020 at 8:53 pm

        Ah, just saw it.
I had never heard of that on the cover of Sgt. Pepper. I looked it up. It was a gift from a Canadian police force.

I remember that OPD patch. I must admit, as a youngster at that time, I followed every flippin’ clue, including playing Blackbird backwards on an old turntable…..
