The LAtrine
Tough to say how I feel about this one having not seen it unfold.
I mean, even the way the suit reads it sounds like 2 families fighting with each other. And don’t tell me gang members don’t go to games in The Latrine.
All I know is that the police didn’t seem too worried about intervening when Brian Stow was getting his brains splattered all over the sidewalk.
I wouldn’t go to a game in LA. That place is just not safe.
Loo’s guy Wilmer Flores name came up in F/G column I read about potential NL DHs. Criteria was being good with bat not so much in field; they had separate column for over 30/under 30. Listed his stats, which include .785 career OPS and minus DRS/UZR numbers going back few years. Comment was, “…isn’t much to write home about at any position but probably can’t do too much damage as a platoon 2b.” Flores is 28.
Wilmer Flores will always qualify as a WH (Whining Hitter)
Not really up on how rosters taxi squad and IL can be used but I did notice that while initially teams can begin season with 30, that will be reduced first to 28 and then later to 26. I think Giants planned to use Sac stadium for workouts to house taxi squad players which I thought would be for additional 30.
I am really starting to like Zaidi. There is a great article about him in the Athletic. This is just an excerpt about some of his plans.
Zaidi confirmed an NBC Sports Bay Area report that top prospects Marco Luciano, Hunter Bishop and Heliot Ramos would join catcher Joey Bart in the 60-player pool that the Giants plan to submit to MLB. Zaidi expects that the Giants won’t be the only team that will fill the back end of its pool with important players who otherwise would have no chance at getting meaningful development time this summer. Although there is a chance that Bart could make his major-league debut at some point this season, none of the four players will be candidates for the Opening Day roster. And it’s highly unlikely that youngsters like Luciano and Bishop, who haven’t played for a full-season affiliate yet, will do anything more than scrimmage with more advanced players.
also he had pretty strong words for that idiot AZ city planner or whatever he was. The “I can’t Breath” guy. Did you read what he said?
yeah, caught that this morning
I would never sit in the upper deck with Giants gear…
Flav, after arguing that Puig did not have a “terrible” season in Cincy last year I was going to look up the stats but got too busy.
In his 100 games with Cincy (and I did mention he started off cold in a new stadium and Cincy in April like here in DC was abnormally colder than usual), he hit 22 homers and 60 rbis. Guess what 22 homers was more than any Giant in 2019 with Yaz and Pillar each hitting 21…over an entire season!!! His 60 rbis only eclipsed by Pillar’s 89 and Longoria at 69…again over a full season.
Projected over a 162 game season, Puig’s numbers translates to 36 homers and 97 rbis. You think that is terrible??? I will take that kind of production all day and every day.
And if you look at his numbers over his last 73 games as a Red begging May 1, his 162 game projection would have been 38 homers and 101 rbis….if he can produce similar level of production for us in 60 games would translate to about 14 homers and 37 rbis. Both numbers likely would lead the team…
I just want to see the 250 yard fence YOU PAINTED AND THE 200 YARDS YOU HAVE LEFT TO PAINT.
Photos!!!!! lulz
If I knew how to post a damn pic here…lol
Puig career in SF:
AB- 174
H- 52
2B- 8
3B- 4
HR- 5
RBI- 17
AVG- .299
Perfect fit for SF . . . Shake up that moribund honky clubhouse.
Panda would love him
.838 OPS in SF too. I don’t know if Pablo would get along with Puig. Entirely different kind of child.
Send me the photos at my email blade3colorado@yahoo.com
If you can prove this, I will sing your praises. More important, I will hire you for landscaping maintenance at my mountain home.
GH if you are going to argue stats put up in that tiny bandbox are anywhere close to Statue put up an oracle Park we aren’t talking anymore about this end of discussion
I dont argue you have a point but I think I was really commenting that he actually did not have a “terrible” season as argued. I think it is not outlandish to think with some hitter friendly parks in play that he would/could put up that 14 homer 37 rbi over 60 games, which is still likely to lead the team in 2020…
Just for the wacky mini-season, Puig, why not?
this from Art Howe, 73 and back home in Houston after stay in hospital for Covid when attack of pneumonia got worse. He went to grocery store Monday and said more than 70% of customer did not have masks on: “That really concerns me, because they don’t know what they’re dealing with.” yikes
I lived in TX for 3+ years. Houston.
It is actually one of the more progressive urban areas in TX.
This is a state with creationism in public school books.
The legislature is one of the most corrupt in the US.
It doesn’t surprise me one bit what is going on there.
The governor there and in FL refusal to require mask wearing is criminal IMO…
“NBA and NBPA issue joint statement saying that 16 of 302 NBA players tested have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, a 5.2 per cent rate.”
“A total of 302 players were tested on June 23. Any player who tested positive will remain in self-isolation until he satisfies public health protocols and has been cleared by a physician.”
I also loved the Luciano/Bart/Bishop/Ramos taxi squad idea and was projecting a potential lineup for 2022 if all four were big leaguers then with Luciano…all would be playing for low prices allowing them the possibility of adding two big free agent bats…
1) Luciano/Will Wilson 2b (Luciano being ready that quickly is the bigger question)
2) Bishop – RF
3) Carlos Correa – SS
4) Bart – C
5) Kris Bryant – 1b (some 3b)
6) Heliot Ramos – LF
7) Zach Green – 3b
8) Jaylin Davis/Dubon – CF
DH) Buster would still under contract that year and other cheaper vets likely around. But I now see the greater need of Patrick Bailey. Outside of Bishop I think all these other young Giants are righties. Bailey may transition into 3b and backup catcher but his lefty bat may be the key here.
Adding Correa and Bryant (Arenado can also opt out of his deal as a possibility instead of Bryant) I think are easily financially possible. Putting Correa in the middle of that infield would be an anchor.
They can even add a front line top starter next couple years (Trevor Bauer anyone???) and Cueto if still with us could be a serviceable #2 with a rebuilt and strengthened arm. Add in the potential combo of Webb/Seth Corry/Beede could be a corps of a competitive team for 2022. Also probably reveals they need to add top tier pitching prospects top of their drafts next couple of years…
I still can’t get over these. Are Trump supporters this dense that they truly believe this bullshit?
Fuck,
Is everything OK?
President Trump asked us if you were available to meet him at an upcoming event but we told him we hadn’t heard from you yet. You’ve always been one of our BEST supporters, and NOT entering just isn’t like you.
The President is going to call us again soon for an update. Can we confirm your RSVP when he calls?
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Fuck, so don’t wait any longer
I saw that ‘meet the president’ ad this morning. A little sidebar off of one of the microsoft pages. So they are still trying. What i have read is that they already have ten’s of millions of dollars but i guess they need your money too.
Ok this Puig stuff, it will bother me to the grave. Look GH if you don’t think park factors matter at all when it comes to hitting home runs I can’t help you. Seriously, how do you not know that? Yes, Puig hit out 22 bombs in 400 PA’s in Cinn last year. Very nice. But he did that in the most bomb friendly park in MLB. He then moved to another Park (Cle) and I don’t know where that park ranks but I doubt it’s even in the top 10 and he proceeds to hit 2 in 207 PA. Damning evidence that he…..fucking…..sucks
The whole idea of adding big free agent bats I think is going to take a big reset. While yes dodgers will get 60 games out of M Betts before he becomes FA, what kind of market will there really be? He turned down $300 mil from Red Sox to test market in first place.
Dodgers will have Justin Turner and Joc Pederson off books after this season too. I’ll look it up but I think Jansen who resigned same off season Turner did and Opie aren’t far behind.
Jansen and Opie have one more season left under contract after this year.
Turner and Pederson this is it.
I’ve decided I’m actually cool with Puig signing here. This is another throw away year, it will be amusing watching him hit .240 sulking his way back to the dugout after each warning track fly out. While I can’t see in a million years why he would sign with SF in a “rebuild his value” year. Who knows, maybe he’d look at it like a “villain turn hero” type of situation. And he loves all that look at me shit. Maybe he’d do it. It would be a hilarious mistake on his part but he’s a complete and utter moron so maybe it’s the road he’d choose to travel.
Exactly:)
And I think he has a big Flodger chip on his shoulders and who does not like a good Giant-Flodger scrap??? He could take out Opie and Jensen…
This was the season the LaBumbos were all primed with a virtual all-star cast to make their march to glory and win their first World Series in 32 years. The stars seemed to be in perfect alignment. All systems go…then the virus. Meanwhile, the Giants were rated to be in the sub-basement in the NL, with a squad of aging veterans, trash-bin finds and untried rookies. Now its all up in the air in this attenuated season. With the virus making its second round in Cali’s sunny southland, folks have other things on their minds than the would-be champs. It couldn’t have happened to a better bunch of chumps.
liking Z more and more.
He says quote me and then repeats his outraged words. He’s as confident as he is smart.
Be interesting to see how this develops in AZ and then throughout the republican strata. I think it’s possible that Fuck may get an urgent request to join trump in denouncing radical left-wing anarchist socialist San Francisco’s Muslim invader.
With his given name and Pakistani/Muslim background, he’s probably met his fair share of discrimination in his life here in the US, and in baseball. I don’t doubt some of his early criticism by some Giants fans, after taking over a disastrous situation, is fueled by some of that, whether intentional or subliminal…
I had a especially hard time watching both murders (the most recent video of Floyd even harder to stomach) but Eric Garner was a big guy that I can relate to and if I was taken down the way they did him I would easily been in the same situation…all for trying to make a few bucks to feed tour your family. He was not selling illegal drugs why treat him as a dangerous criminal???
Alleykat..Good news re right hip. Posterior approach is technically easier for MD and the most often used. You will have weakness after that akes time to rebuild the muscle. Re golf I tell every TH patient. Work hard but don’t rush. Total hip is designed to take away pain so you can walk without pain. Thats it. Once that happens your life will be light years better. So if it takes 6 months vs 4 for golf / bowling etc thats ok. Push too hard and you risk the walking part, a huge bummer. Good luck. Call any time if you have questions after 714 330 6387
Thanks for your expert advice Mrsprtdude!
I basically have a real bad degenerative hip( osteoporosis with plenty of arthritis buildup, doc said I only have 5% leg strength, lifting my right leg up from his table, that ‘s after trying hard to even flatten the leg all the way down, very painful, but I believe after this hip replacement you won’t even know u had arthritis in the hip/ leg, which would be awesome 👏
I definitely will go by the doctors advice and PT to not over push things.Besides after 4-6 months it’s winter time/rainy season so no reason to go out as much and just keep doing exercises at home..
Giants have asked season tix holders to send in photos of themselves. Giants will set up the photos on cardboard cutouts in the seats. This is one PR idea I like. Kruk said this morning on radio that he’d put cutouts of Drumpf and Pelosi sitting next to each other — with Drumpf wearing Dodgers gear…
apparently you can pay $99 to submit one if you’re not a season ticket holder. If I knew my cut out would get air time I’d pay that in a second. I have some colorful ideas to be sure,…
That is pretty funny..
I knew that the Giants were in process of a couple year renovation of Scottsdale Stadium.
https://tinyurl.com/yb76yam7
BTW, in that article about 8 short paragraphs down from the top – look at which City Councilman is quoted — same azzhat that Farhan told to F off.
But, I didn’t know they are involved in a $50 million renovation of the the old Papago Park training complex the A’s left. This is just north of the Salt River and Tempe. When done, the Giants will move their entire year round training program and Spring Training to this rehabbed complex, with 6 baseball fields. The Indian School facility just in back of Scottsdale Stadium is just too small. The ST games will still be played up the road a few miles at Scottsdale Stadium. Another reason for the ZMan to be PO’d at idiot Phoenix politicians…

the ONLY real reason to sign Puig and play him regularly would have been to flip him should he hit well. For the Giants, with Dick Yaz Davis and likely Dubon and or others like Duggar Slater available to play OF, why bother? They already signed Pence and Ruf (who hit well in ST) so there’s your RH DH options, along with Posey or Flores.
Um let’s not forget—Z was in LA in Puig’s time and likely is well aware of mgmt and clubhouse evaluations of him. Don’t forget also that Puig was upset Roberts platooned him, because I’m sure Kapler is going to manage the LU in similar fashion. If Z felt he was worth a shot think this would have been done long ago..
Security at Dodger stadium is better now vs before if you can believe it. I stopped going to games for 5+ years. Saw to many people harrassed, including me. My buddy and I had a full beer bottle thrown at us. mashed my friends window. Missed my head by a foot. I’ve had my hat flipped off my head by assholes going the other way. Food thrown at me. “go back to frisco fag.. Crazy shit. that was BEFORE Stow incident.
last few times i went it was a lot better. I think the fans in general are better, realizing it’s a game.I don’t know the facts, and it could be legit complaint, but it also came to mind… perfect timing for a suit aginst stadium. Most security are off duty LAPD and Sherrifs. They won’t want the hasle. Lame
Things got pretty bad during the McCourt ownership reign. mlb took care of him. the jury in Stow’s civil case hit the dodgers but not McCourt.
I’ve seen enough of Duggar and Slater, and after this short season, whether it goes full 60 or dies after a a few weeks from too many Covid positive tests. We’ve got to upgrade outfielders; these kinds of players are just “guys” that have too many flaws to really make a difference. You can’t have an entire outfield full of guys with 5th outfielder talent…
Agree. Surprised they’re still here, but than again, not surprised, as the Giants really don’t have anyone else. Let’s put it this way, the team is so bad at both the major league level and minor league level, that guys like Duggar and Slater get multiple chances to succeed. Unfortunately, they’ve only proven they can’t play at the MLB level.
mm help does appear on the way in couple years, credit to Z. Like to see Dickerson and Davis get plenty of run right now and see if Yaz can replicate what he did with bat last season; no more old guy vets even to DH. Ramos and Bishop, plus I’ve read the Luciano kid might not be good enough IF either but the bat is definitely for real. Dubon as wild card RH to platoon in.
Well, we COULD be starting Connor Joe from Kokomo, so there’s a tiny glint of hope.
I haven’t been a big fan of Farhan Luke so far, but I gotta give him props for calling out that tool of a City Council member in Scottsdale. Major points to Zaidi for saying “Fuck that guy”.
Watching a classic W/S game…1970 Baltimore/Cincinnati 2 teams loaded with HOF players!
Shift was on even back then as Cincinnati had 3 players on the right side of infield with Boog Powell up.
Interesting a young Pete Rose was playing R/F and gunned out Brooks Robinson at the plate.Later he threw a throw to 3 rd that went in the dugout allowing a run to score.Saved a run then gave it back 😂
What really blew me away was when Curt Gowdy mentioned Sparky Anderson is the youngest manager in baseball at 36 years old! Even then he looked at least 50 and his hair was all white😳I bet his hair was all white at birth🤣
yeah that was cool. game 5 just started, Frank Robinson with 2 run HR.
Reds of 1970 won 102 games, led league in HRs and hit .270 as a team. Bench and Perez with 40+, Bench drove in 148.
combined they were 5-37 with 1 bomb in World Series. reds as a team hit .213 off Orioles pitching, lost in 5.
Great pitching stops great hitting, as you would say. 🙂
ha zum. Unfortunately for Reds they didn’t pitch too well either. O’s scored 33 runs in 5 games, 32 earned. reds team ERA was over 6.00
I think the 2010 Giants playoff pitching was the best since the 1970 Orioles WS, or something like that…
Willed, Weird that game 4 was in black&white, yet gm5 was in color?
Did not know how hot the Orioles were when Gowdy mentioned they had
won 17 straight games,regular season playoffs,1st 3 games of W/S before losing
6-5 in game 4..
I still marvel about how much talented players both teams had back then!
Growing up one of my neighbors my folks had cocktails 🍸 with on the annual
Friday night after long work weeks were originally from Baltimore and I hungout with they’re 3 sons a lot,
and of course they were huge Orioles fan.So I adopted them as my other favorite team besides of course the Giants.Man they were fun to watch with Brooks,Frank,Boog,Belanger no hit but great glove, and speaking of great glove, and solid all around player to me was Paul Blair, that guy was amazing chasing down balls.Actually 2 great ones in this series as Bobby Tolan was terrific as well.
You add a 4/20 game winning staff Palmer,McNally,Cuellar&Dobson, tough to beat.Still stunned they lost to the 69 Mets? That’s ⚾️, unpredictable, that’s why you play the games out…
Belanger’s first ML homer was hit at Yankee Stadium on Mother’s Day 1967.
In the same game, Mantle hit #500 (against the shift).
He was so broken down, even his HR trot looks painful.
500 homers was big news in 1967…
Yeah Mick looked like that moment in “The Natural “ when their was blood seeping thru his jersey and the Ump says you ok Mick? And Mick sweat pouring down his grimace face just says “Let’s play ball”
That ball is played off the RF wall at ATT, and the Mick has to stay at first because he can’t run…
Farhan Zaida you are the Man!
I respect ✊ you now more then ever
Telling in quote to that idiotic councilman Phillips
To FUCK OFF!!
I’m so proud of you I will have a flapper ( not me) take a bullet for you Mr.President of Giants Baseball!!’
Oh a for that insensitive councilman moron, after your firing, I suggest you get tied to a cactus 🌵 you prick
maybe 20 yards straight ahead of a tee box, so everyone can bring out the big dog driver and fire away!!!
Z is on Giants Chalk talk live with michael holmes and Giants 4 announcers right now.
thanks
On traveling to or through LA, how about Texas? I exchanged some 2020 baseball messages with a friend from the midwest who surprised me with the news that he and his wife are visiting a fancy Colo. resort, hanging out, in between t-storms I guess, by the pool and dining extravagantly on the patio. They flew to Dalls/Ft. Worth and then to Denver and then drove a rental car. In a few days, they’ll retrace the same route via a change of planes in Big D. Personally, I wouldn’t book a vacation like that, but even if I had, back in December, I’d gladly take the cancellation hit now. And these are well educated intelligent people.
that looked like it hurt
Couple things Z said: NL West does have tough LHP and that was reason for bringing back Pence signing Ruf and Flores. John Miller asked him, since you do now need a DH as opposed to how you went into game planning in ST, are you looking to sign anyone?
Response was Z thought initially they would have hard time finding enough ABs for everyone, but thinks they will stay in house for DH and included Pablo in that discussion.
Thanks for posting that vid of The Mick, Loo. It brought back memories of going to the Stadium as quite the young boy. And for some reason, that video triggered in my brain an image of how I viewed those players at that time; not as heroes, bigger than life, they were really just guys, and they even kind of looked like *just guys*. I see players now in the batters box, all I see is bling, gym bodies, hair products, etc. Ah, innocence.
Seeing Mickey Mantle was awsome!
Yes it was.
Side note to Chuck, I just got a friend request from you on FB, but we’re already friends there. Was that for real, or is something fishy?
Maybe he wants to renew your vows…
lulz
shit i saw that too and just accepted it, that must be hacked shit. I defriended him. CHuck, nothing personal but I think you’ve been hacked. Re-apply to be friends and i shall make it so.
I just saw a post from him and it looks like a new legit account because of problems with the old one…
Paul – it is legit. My old account is locked. Waiting for FB support to respond, so created a new account.
Fuck,
I need you now more than ever.
I asked my team to pull your donor file, and I’ll be honest, I was disappointed to see that you haven’t contributed recently. I thought it was a mistake, but take a look for yourself:
What the fuck, Fuck, what the fucking fuck is fucking wrong with you….
i’m getting like 5 of these a day now, they must be getting desperate.
Fuck,
Should I tell my father that you aren’t interested?
He asked me to review the most recent list of Patriots who have entered to win a trip to meet him at an upcoming event, and I noticed that you STILL haven’t entered.
I thought it was a mistake, but take a look at your entry file:
And are they actually sending you an “entry file”, whatever that is? Too funny.
absolutely. Keeps zeroing out at zero. It’s so confounding it’s really stressing them out.
Well, it’s nice to see that maybe they’ve finally found something for Jared to do… 🙂
Pence started the Covid-19 Task Force press conference off today by saying “We’ve all seen the encouraging news.”
Uh….really?….
Gaslight much?
my dream is that when this is over every single one of these fake fucking Christians end up smoking copious amounts of pole. Fuck every motherfucking last one of them….
If this season gets off the ground, bring Puig in. Would love to see what he could do in this crazy-assed short season that has been proposed.
