A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

In The THICK Of The Playoff Hunt

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 1, 2020

Last night was a great sign in terms of how the players view Kap. It wouldn’t have been surprising to see them come out with a flat performance the day after Kap’s two-step blunder. But they came out focused and strong and handed it to the Rangers.

One thing I don’t get about the scheduling: with all this juggling do they have to keep to any form or rules? If it were a regular season and a game got canceled they’d make it up. But with 30 games canceled already do they just try to make those up whenever and against whoever they can make it work with? Because if that’s the case I could see MLB pulling this off still.

Signs are pointing to it not working and if they just straight give up that’s what we’ll have to accept I guess.

my emails today. Stix I promise I’ll get to that article after dinner….

Pence might as well try raising his stirrups up to his belt and wear his pants above his bellybutton…

there you go another walk. I didn’t get Rangers bringing in another LHP—Giants have Ruf and Flores sitting on bench. Man their pitching is awful.

Blues guitarist Jimmy Rogers had a great version of, “Walkin By Myself” on Chess with Walter Horton and some other Chicago legends. Great LP I lost in apt fire.

Best (or maybe just most fun) catcher I ever saw was Tony Pena in his Boston days. There were times he was practically sitting down behind the plate and could still throw lasers to 2nd base. He also perfected the art of bluffing an intentional ball 4 on a full count and ringing up a K on the unsuspecting batter. Good times.

8 pitches. Seventh inning in the books. Maybe this is the right slot for Rogers—the 7th and coming in fresh and taking a rest after a quick, efficient outing.

  11. Macdog said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:23 pm

    The ribbie machine.

  12. unca_chuck said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:23 pm

Solano is way beyond hot. Unreal.

  13. alleykat69 said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:25 pm

He’s the ultimate RBI Machine right now!!
    Up to 13 now incredible!!

This is like Game 2 of the World Series with all the walks.

  16. alleykat69 said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:31 pm

    Next time lol 😂
Atleast we were spared another embarrassing AB by O-23 Pence who was on deck…

  17. Carstie Clausen said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:33 pm

Batting (cleanup?) Belt gets him a ribbie. Hows he do it? With a walk. Natch.

  18. unca_chuck said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:35 pm

All those baseballs rolling around an empty stadium is weird.

  19. Macdog said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:35 pm

    Heiney . . . ooops, wrong one.

Agree Chuck the yard plays a lot livelier now.How come some dipshits couldn’t of figured this out before and tried it out? Though I get they liked the charm of the knothole gang from the outset, but still what a difference when the wind is stopped from getting in..

  21. Macdog said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:39 pm

    Series win! Over .500!

  22. Carstie Clausen said, on August 1, 2020 at 9:46 pm

Strange outing by Selman with that home-run sandwich among three K’s. But we’ll take it. Inning over. Game over and the surprise of the National League now has a winning record with their sweep of deRangers. Wish we couldda sent Pence back with them. Maybe even Belt to boot. If that weird stance of his helps him keep drawing walks, maybe he could take the ribbies by base on balls crown.

    Tough day for Rangers fans.

For the past few years the Giants haven’t led the majors at nothing at no time in the course of the season. As of tonight Mike Yazstremski is one of three leading in runs scored with 10. No sharing with our ribbie man. Donovan Solano tops MLB with a baker’s dozen (13).

Yaz is the real thing, so happy to be watching another Yaz. Kinda wish Solano was 22 instead of 32…

      • alleykat69 said, on August 1, 2020 at 10:14 pm

Yeah P/A Solano at 22 would just be scary if he hit like that back then.
It’s amazing how many balls he’s squares up( hence the nickname Donnie Barrels)
for clutch hits! And he was doing it last year as well,he is locked in!!

Paul, NYT stories I’ve seen about flare ups in VN say the source is still unknown. Somebody’s stifling someone. Hope things are getting better.

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on August 1, 2020 at 10:33 pm

Yeah, unfortunately it’s not just a flare-up, it’s the dreaded 2nd Wave… new strain. 1st round, no deaths in country at all. Now? The first 3 people to test positive in Danang last week are all dead already. We’re all ready for lockdown again, and yes, they haven’t identified the source yet. That’s kinda scary. And for the past 3 days, I’ve been feverish and staying home. We’ve gone from best place on earth to be during Corona to uh oh, watch what happens here because it could be indicative of what’s next.
