The King
Thirteen years ago. Man where are the days going? Feels like 13 years was right about when the pandemic started, eh?
I will always love Barry Bonds but the 3 beauties we got after he left make what Barry did almost appear small. To me anyway.
LA tonight. The great thing about a series with these losers is that you just never really know how it’s going to play out. Always a surprise…….
Since we last saw them and left town with couple feel good Ws, they’ve gone 7-2 on road trip that included Padres and Astros (plus AZ).
I was at the games where Barry hit number 72 (single season record), and 756. Agree…I would take even ONE of the three WS titles we won in exchange for Bond’s records.
So, the bums have gone 7-2 on a roadie that included the Friars and Stros…does not take away from the fact that over the past several years, Giants have played the bums to about a .500 clip.
Bring it on…let’s see what happens, As Flav attests, you just never know how things will play out against smell-a. It is interesting more often than not.
BEAT LA!
As far as rebuilding and trying to contend simultaneously, it’s one of those things that will be judged by results, not intentions. This is how the real world is too with most things.
If Uncle Chuck goes to the Derby, which is the plan right now, shouldn’t we have some kind of virtual Flap viewing party? If there was a horse named DJ Loo running, I would be sleeping in his stall…
Hah!!!
I’ve judged enough over .034 Pence to realize he’s reached Aaron Rowand’s stage of Suckage!! This is not counterproductive keeping his sorry ass on this team.Sadly no one has the balls to dump him including Pence himself who’s to proud but also is locked in denial to quit..
Did anyone really enjoy the best ball player of alltime imo watch Willie Mays out there past his prime stumbling around the outfield for the Mets?
LMAO…now I would pay good money for that picture, Loo!
Early in the season but the Padres had a chance to prove to LA that they could be a legit contender.Yeah right, LA has owned their asses over the last 7 straight division titles to the embarrassing domination over the Maxi Pads of like 85-45, meantime the Giants have played them legit 70-68 Bums is all..Padres are pretenders again until they find success against the dogpile..Go Giants with your TBD starters!!
Mr. Kotter: “Right now, we’re in a playoff race and we’re in August. We’re treating it as such. We can manage development and winning simultaneously.”
I’m calling bullshit on this. If they were devoted to winning, Pence and Panda would be gone. He would have a better bullpen plan rather than throwing darts at the roster.
it’s utter nonsense to say anything about development in a year like this. What they’re doing down below is not development. It’s soaking up time and hanging out.
I think they are doing the best they can given the agreed-upon circumstances. Not ideal, certainly not getting what hey would during a normal minor league year of playing real games, but still trying to develop those guys given what they have.
It will be interesting to see where winning/development coincide should Giants continue to hover few games or so under .500 and legit playoff teams come calling about Cueto or Gausman or Watson yada yada.
Agree. I would hope that the priority is for the long-term rebuild of the club, and that if the trade made sense, and brought back decent prospects, they would pull the trigger.
early lineup has Smrdz starting vs. LHP Urias
Slater Yaz Pence OF Ruf DH
Belt’s in there Solano at SS for Craw Flores Longo Tromp
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” theme music is just the right touch.
Zum and everyone:
My friend’s daughter is a doctor at a very prominent NY hospital in Manhattan. She says that the test is inaccurate 30% of the time and to live your life under the assumption that 100% of the people have it and follow the precautions. They define prolonged exposure as 15 minutes within 6 feet. I don’t know if any of that is inside info or public knowledge. She also says that anyone with symptoms likely has it because they are not seeing any flu or even common colds out there.
Giant/Dodger games have always meant a lot to me and I am glad they mean something with the standings still yet. If the pandemic didn’t arrive I doubt anyone in the organization would have had realistic hopes to make the playoffs this year. We just have to many holes and uncertainties. I think the only way we make the playoffs is if we score 6/8 runs a game.
Great line on MLB Network…
What’s the worse part of youth sports?
The Parents
Lol 😂 That is so true!!!
Having coached both my son (baseball) and daugter (softball), for many years, I would have to agree.
My little league coach was the nicest guy in the world. His son was on the team and was our worst player. The coach played no favorites and his boy generally batted ninth or sat on the bench. He literally did not make contact with the ball for most of the season. Then on the last day of the year the kid somehow hit a screaming line drive that the LF made a spectacular grab on. Coach/dad took it in stride – just congratulated the kid on the nice shot. A very good man. The things we remember.
On the other hand at least one umpire was a drunken child molester…
One of my LL coaches had his son on the team also. He was a pitcher and wasn’t very good but he played him most games. That year we made it to .500 but it was a struggle.
Smardzxxx pitching against the LA homer guys is not a good matchup. Can only hope the air is cool at the Latrine tonight to tamp down the gopher ball possibilities…
yeah that was my first thought too. Hope he can keep bombs down to at least solo shots only.
Poor Daniel, he just cannot see his beloved Cardinals play ball!!
Game tonight between Cards/Cubs has been canceled due to more testing needed from The Covaid19 outbreak 😷
Molina&DeYoung are 2 Cards still in lockdown among others…
@Loo–that is good info–thank you.
They were testing in the parking lot at my school on Wednesday, so I went ahead and had a test done for the first time. They said 5-7 days for results, so in a few days I will know if I was COVID positive a week ago—which is somewhat helpful I guess.
My nephew in Orange County is positive, but it doesn’t seem to be hitting him too hard at this point, so hopefully he will be fine. He is the first in my circle of friends and family to get it. I have been a lousy uncle and haven’t been around him since COVID came on the scene. His dad is my oldest brother, who is a doctor himself and fears we are all going to get it eventually.
Good one. When they played game 3 in the 89 WS, I really wanted them to play Lucille when Stewart took the mound.
My favorite goes back 50 some years to when the big bad Bruins would regularly beat up on my pussy Rangers. One night (playoff game 1969?) the Bruins took the ice for the pre-game skate and MSG organist Eddie Layton played Dr. Doolittle’s “Talk To The Animals”.
Was awesome…
that is fucking hilarious. Earlier in the week TMZ released the cop footage of the bust and it was hilarious listening to him try to make it all go away.
Uncle Chuck news and background to get you up to speed:

Since mid March I’ve gotten some food to go from some restaurants on occasion but today was the first time that I sat down for a meal. Same people working there, I had what I’ve ordered many times in the past, yet it felt very odd being there.
You seem like your usual self…
Now that’s a happy meal.
I have gone out a number of times since this whole thing broke. For a while in our county (El Dorado) inside seating was OK (tables were distanced and all staff wore masks, etc.). Now with no indoors dining allowed, almost every restaurant in town has outside/sidewalk tables with pop-up shades and umbrellas.
I met a friend for lunch last Saturday and we both had the same thought that it had the feel of a European sidewalk cafe. I am digging the outdoor dining, and hope they keep it around, at lease in the non-winter/rainy months. It does seem a little odd, but as long as the restaurant looks to be on top of everything regarding spacing and cleanliness, I’ll continue to go out.
This was inside, but seating was every other table.
I think restaurants are going to have a really tough time coming back
Hunter Pence selfie:
That’s hilarious 😆 Loo!
Yeah Loo your 10:48 post reminded me of this drunk umpire behind the plate calling one of my softball games, the jerk was calling pitches strikes when they were a foot from the plate are high and way outside.Everyone was getting on his case and when I came up I called him out saying if you weren’t so drunk maybe you could call a decent game! He was pissed off and tossed me from the game! We were up big so it wasn’t that big a deal getting my point across. Usually it’s the players that have a beer are 2 before a game, not the freakin umpire that had a reputation of showing up drunk 🥴
Fuck,
Yesterday, I asked my staff to send me the donor records of my most loyal supporters – the true leaders of our movement who will help carry us to VICTORY in November.
I thought YOU would definitely be on there as one of my TOP supporters, but when they pulled your record, Fuck, it showed that you were in the bottom 1% of all Trump Donors.
I thought this was a mistake, but take a look for yourself:
SUPPORTER RECORD
Supporter: Fuck You
Donor Since: NOT AVAILABLE
2020 Campaign Cycle Gifts: 0
Lifetime Total: $0
I’m depending on your support, Fuck, and I need you to step up. Where have you been?
The fools that actually respond to this crap and send money might as well send it directly to Drumpf Inc. at Drumpf Tower. Many reports out there that millions in “campaign” spending is going to Drumpf controlled enterprises. A better approach would be just to burn your money. Grifters gonna grift…
Kinberley Ho-Foyle is now sending out emails and the last one tried to scare me with radical socialist speak. So I sent her back this:
Flavor
1:23 PM (1 hour ago)
to Kimberly
you were married to a “radical socialist” you ho. And I’m positive he gave you ten times the dick your current boyfriend can give.
I got the requisite “if you have a claim submit it here” email. If that is there automated email response to everything can you imagine how many people give these fuckers money, don’t get what they think they’re going to get, and then threaten to sue them? Lol, it is HILARIOUS to consider the irony there
i don’t want to hear any bullshit tonight about Smarge’s owwie finger. If he gets blasted and they blame it on that, fuck them. Fucking liars. You can’t trot him out there unless he’s good to go.
Tough break for longtime Shark Patrick Marleau. Club de Hockey 12 seed upsets Penguins. Mrs. M has been in store few times, real nice lady. One of the boys has trademark Dad’s eyebrows.
remember years back, when Belt hurt his pinky finger? Bochy cut loose on his secret twitter feed.
Some old school stuff…
For much the same reason Keane maintains a deep respect for Bob Shaw, the San Francisco pitcher. “A few years ago,” Keane says, “Shaw drilled one of my players. Bob Gibson was pitching for us, and he just waited for Shaw to come to bat. Boy, Gibson really drilled him! He bored a hole right below Shaw’s ribs; it must have gone in three inches. Shaw knew it was coming, and he knew why it was coming. He didn’t look at Gibson, he just went right down to first base. That’s my idea of a real pro.”
1. Austin Slater (R) RF
2. Mike Yastrzemski (L) CF
3. Donovan Solano (R) 2B
4. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
5. Wilmer Flores (R) DH
6. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
7. Darin Ruf (R) LF
8. Chadwick Tromp (R) C
9. Mauricio Dubon (R) SS
Alright Kapler’s beginning to get it putting Ruf in LF,
Keeps for now Loo’s roulette number intact at 34!!
Some guys can’t hit their own weight.
Pence can’t hit his own age (37).
To his credit he is hitting Ruf’s age (34)…
mm I think Opie goes tomorrow so I guess Kapler figured he couldn’t sit Belt tonite.
Hope the D can help Smrdz out tonite…at least on the ones that stay in the yard.
A’s bench coach Ryan Christenson under fire 🔥 for being an idiot as the A’s players were coming off the field after their victory and instead of arm bumps are whatever he has his arm straight out and his palm down and it resembles a “Heil Hitler motion. And yes after the obligatory apology he’s still with the team, when many want his ass fired..
that’s absurd, if you watch the video he obviously did it by mistake, he CLEARLY wasn’t doing that on purpose.
completely agree with Oswalt. Nothing to see here, guy just did something stupid by accident.
Oakland a’s cut many corners but cultural respect ain’t one of them. They’ll deal with this coach fairly. (He had no intent to make a political gesture when he celebrated.) Almost exactly a year ago, two out of town friends took me to an a’s/rangers game. (T blowout; Pence singled off of Petit.) It was Muslim Heritage Night. My friends were somewhat stunned. Hey, I said, Oakland is a great place. (The ballpak sucks, but. . . .) My guess: the coach keeps his job.
as he should. I wish people would use their brains and assess a situation and look at the facts before just blindly reacting like a lemming.
Slater’s been around longer than I thought.
His career basically totals one mediocre season.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/slateau01.shtml
Anyway, let’s see bombs from him and Wilmet tonight…
I like Slater leading off maybe a platoon (RH/LH with Yaz.He makes the pitcher work, (5-6 pitches are more) can get a early walk steal a bag and then get stranded..
Smarja digs more holes than a hyperactive gopher…
Caddy shack Shark 🐿
wouldn’t have bet on that outcome as smrdz gets out of it vs .heart of lineup.
Can’t believe he got out of that mess 2nd and 3rd no outs and gets 3 weak ass pop ups..
Hou-dopi…
This ump’s got a high strike zone
I like Tromp’s bat, he hits the ball hard, batting average up to .316 now..
Interesting Dubon in there at SS tonite; hope he can do something with bat. Craw sat yesterday vs. LHP with Solano starting there. and Opie goes tomorrow. those stats Mac found iirc said Craw was like 6-48 against him. would Kapler sit him 3 days in a row?
Maybe Loo’s trade for Crawdaddy gets some fuel again..
Seager can’t stay healthy with his old mans back at 26…
Yaz and Donnie Barrels were both early low-level Z man nabs.
LA announcers point out Longo has 8th-worst OPS in NL during his two years with Giants, and the only players below him are “light-hitting shortstops.” And then comes the DP.
Well, there’s one dinger off Smardzxxx….
Now that was a Ruf play in LF!! 18 errors now leads all of baseball
Leading the league in errors and double plays is not a good combo.
fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son
I swear it seems like every error ( 18 now)the Giants have made the opposing team has scored off of it..
Well, there’s two dingers off Smardzxxx….
Ruf time in the outfield as the madcap Giants extend their Major League lead in errors. Has it reached the comedy stage yet? Team leads baseball in another dubious category or two. Only good one is Donovan Solano who tops baseball in his well over .400 BA.
Second Shark Bomb!
Atleast their 1 run blasts I guess?
Well, there’s dinger #2 off Samardzxxx.
Guess the air isn’t cool enough to slow down those blasts.
I’m hoping it stops at 2, but no guarantee of that.
The guy is a gopher ball machine…
is he rubbin’ that finger yet? I only have the game on the radio….
the last one by Smith barely got out, but it did.
Kapler’s just rubbing his dick, has no intention of pulling Shark..
Classic Kat!
smrdz ERA up over 8.00 now.
Oh F another one and it’s 5-1.
72 pitches 10 outs 3 bombs.
Cue snarkk post . . .
serious. He called it early today.
Juiceball cheapie…
so who is in charge of hiding all the juiced balls when Giants are up and saving them for LA?
he has all his pitches tonight and the FB has gained velo every inning and SamaHRdzija sucks
How can Krukow say we’ll all tall infielders will suffer back issues throughout their career?
I recall this SS who was 6’4 named Cal Ripken who played in 2,632 consecutive games..
Fuck Kapler pull your head out of your ass and get Shark outta there!!!
Could LA challenge the HBP?
they did and lost and that’s by far the least of our problems
I can’t blame Hernandez even I want to hit off Shark right now!!
Kapler should change the name on his jersey to COVID.
Selman – another member of our kiddie corps.
Turns 30 in November…
I remember Dick Selma, Phillies pitcher in early 70s.
Remember Leroy Selmon–the linebacker at Oklahoma? Brother Dewey too.
A Met, too Dog…
If any team out there needs a good DH, we’ve got about 7 of ’em…..
I’ve become obsessed with baseball gloves.
Santana’s “44” is magnificent…
I was out in my back yard doing weeds listening to a physicist on radio KQED Science Friday about how the universe will die.
So, I missed Samardzxxx gopher ball #3 into the next galaxy. May his contract end before the universe does.
He doesn’t disappoint…
Neither does Kapler leaving him for extended punishment..
Wilmer is gonna be a good trade chip once Zaidi realizes this team is going nowhere.
I don’t buy the whole “wood fired” pizza thing. What a ridiculous gimmick. Heat is heat. Is the wood supposed to impart some special flavor to a freaking pizza? Give me a break.
Where do you stand on brick ovens?
Another bullshit gimmick. I like my pizza cooked in electric ovens with one of those slow conveyor belt deals moving through it.
My great uncle, who was in the restaurant biz once explained to me that a pizza oven must be super hot. Something about ensuring that the crust is done before the cheese burns, I think…
Muncy’s shiny grey bat is real nice…
You’re really rubbing it in to us radio guys tonite, aren’t you my friend?
Johnny Bench is a fat little turd…
Hey any of you guys have an air fryer?
I just recently bought one figuring it would be easy on me during my hip recovery.!
And boy was I right. This 6 quart heating basket cooks anything I throw in it perfectly!
First I preheat for 5 min at 400, then I’m ready to go, so far chicken wings, chicken thighs, shrimp, steak, grilled cheese sandwiches, potatoes/French fries, veggies etc
Once you warm it up( maybe not always necessary) it has 11 preset buttons for the steak, chicken, shrimp etc
even a defrost button, you hit the chicken button and it automatically says like 380 for 25 min are hit the steak 400 at 6 minutes every thing comes out crispy and moist on the inside!!
Real easy to cleanup as well! Are add parchment paper with the holes for a bottle liner for less cleanup..
Sounds great, but I don’t think I have the counter space…
Nice! I was thinking about getting one of those Instapots, but maybe I need to consider an air fryer.
My air fryer is called Cosori just loaded with functions even comes with a 100 recipe book!!
Got it on Amazon $119 worth every penny so far!
I remember Irving Fryar.
Whoa, name blast from the past, Pats receiver… other team too, I think but don’t remember
Yeah Paul, he bounced around a bit at the end, I know Philly was one of his stops.
Dawg, I remember back in the ’80s in Boston, wood grilling went thru a bit of a trendy phase at some very fine restaurants. There was one place that in addition to choosing the kind of meats you wanted grilled, you could choose the wood they used for grilling… mesquite, maple, who knows what else, I can’t remember now, but there were 3 or 4 different kinds. And yes, actually, it did affect the flavor, although not really all that much. It was just kind of fun.
Love the input Paul! I can buy the flavoring argument on a piece of meat. A pizza? Not so much.
And hell yes, counter space is precious and is a major factor in a purchase like this.
Yes, waiter, I’d like my pizza cooked with a pressure-treated Douglas Fir 2 x 6, make the crust extra crispy…
LOL!
Wilmet’s got a real good eye and seems to adjust his swing in a millisecond…
Short swing too. Horner-esque.
Hey Kat—have you tried putting ribs in that sob? If it makes ribs that are crispy on the outside yet fall off the bone–without a ton of mess, then I might be sold.
That was sure buggy-whipped…
Dolphins too for Irving Fryar.
Yep, forgot about Miami
Doghairs have guys I never heard of cranking out jacks off of Giants hurlers I’ve barely heard of…
Buehler and Kershaw coming up over the weekend!
Old brick or stone kilns are pretty cool. There’s an old ghost-town settlement in Death Valley from some hundred years ago with a bunch of big-ass kilns. All throughout Cambodia too, hundreds of years old and they stil make new kilns there, for pottery, cooking, maybe glass. There’s a big old iron works kiln in Oxford, New Jersey from revolutionary war times. You can still smell the smoke just walking up to the thing.
That is some mighty impressive kiln knowledge!
Don’t you live in Brookiln? ….
