A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

2012 All Over Again

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 19, 2020

Belt, Fatso, Crawford………yesterday was a throwback game for the ages. Too bad they can’t do it more than once every few weeks. Fires are terrible here today, ash was falling on my car on the way to work. I didn’t check the air quality index but it has to be terrible. Wouldn’t be surprised if both baseball games in the Bay got canceled today…..

    Yaz is probably untouchable.
    Incredibly, he’ll turn 30 on Sunday…

Untouchable…like in Elliot Ness? Actually, he seems to be a very youthful nearing-thirty. His body-style tells me he does not spend a lot of time in the gym over tightening his muscles and tendons. Some of those guys tend to age pretty fast for a game like baseball–except for maybe those stereotypical D.H. sluggos.

Five baserunners in 5.2 IPs, with 8 Ks and one whole walk. Yeah, Cueto was masterful tonight. Third consecutive high quality start. There will be offers. Cueto looks to be the best available starter. He has one more start before the deadline looms. Way he’s been pitching of late, that upcoming high-salary year should not be daunting for a well-heeled organization. Unfortunately, that could well be the Yank-Me’s.

Hey! Did anyone check it out? An errorless night. At long overdue last, double figures in wins…over the hump on hump-day and game 26. Four more and the season’s half-shot. Can you imagine? Giants are on a micro-streak. Hitters gaining confidence with the first four mentioned in my last posting all sporting BAs over .300. A power-hitting catcher who can handle pitchers and does good D. would sure be a nice addition. Bullpen may finally be sorting itself out. Even some of the BC bunch are showing occasional signs of life. Could we possibly jack the record up to .500? Not highly likely, but not totally far-fetched either.

Saving the best for last. No certainty here, but the manager seems to be making a few adjustments while learning from his mistakes. Still some sorting-out to do, like is Duggar ever gonna get it together? Do we have anyone on the taxi stand who could make for an interesting outfield experiment? 34 more games to find out.
