A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

There is a LOT Going on Today

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 5, 2020

Well, this is going to be QUITE the day. Horse racing and Bumgarner. That is quite the exacta. Thankfully not competing for my time.

Funny story. I woke up, hadn’t had coffee yet, was at Draftkings and I clicked on the SF pitcher for tonight’s game. It said Cahill. I was like, “What, Bum’s pitching today I thought.” Lol. Then I remembered I needed to click on the AZ pitcher if I wanted to see Bumgarner’s name……

Anyway, I’m a pretty sentimental person when it comes to almost anything. I will hold the memories that country fuck’s given me FOREVER in my heart.

But we need this game. I hope we light his ass up.

Looks like not one guy from the 3 in 5 champs will make the HOF.
Including the greatest pitcher in WS history…

      Except for Boch.

I’m still not convinced that Posey isn’t qualified based on the stats of the other catchers who are in. Ernie Lombardi?

      • chipower9 said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:39 pm

        Agree.

  2. unca_chuck said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:09 pm

1.100 OPS? S-later has to stay on the field.

  3. willedav said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:18 pm

good for Kapler. whether Cahill is hurt or not, and no visit from trainer ever tonite, glad we don’t have to watch him any longer. Maybe next season Z will stop bringing in dumpster dives like this.

  4. willedav said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:21 pm

If Yadier Molina gets in and Posey does not, I’d cry foul.

  5. willedav said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:32 pm

Baragar looks good. Last half dozen outings (an inning or 2/3) 0 runs given up, 0 walks too.

  6. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:38 pm

Selman has been great too, along with Garcia. Really all the lefties are good except Suarez, not a fan at all.Taking up a roster spot imo..

  7. xoot said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:43 pm

MadBum’s been really good for his first game back.

    • alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:47 pm

Yeah I thought so too Xoot,
Looks to be in great shape.
He might of had some rust
But besides the back to backs
      He pitched good,

  8. unca_chuck said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:49 pm

Coonrod showing some different pitches. Including the 10′ wide fastball.

Slater looks to be not quite bacon the groove yet. Itmay well take another day or two.

  11. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 7:59 pm

See they shipped out Duggar again to make room for Slater..
Get use to it Dug’s, it’s you are possibly Suarez every time to the compound site.

    Double triples…

  17. Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:25 pm

Don’t see back to back triples very often.

  18. xoot said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:26 pm

Flaco! he’s not fooling around. He means to make amends.

  19. Carstie Clausen said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:27 pm

Double triples back to back. How often do you see that in MLB? Bart blisters one and Scoobie Doobie Do atones for last night’s base running gaffes. Glad that he manned up afterwords and did the “mea culpa.” Maybe that served as a much needed wakeup call for the kid.

  20. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:28 pm

Back to Back triples has to be rare, especially from your 8-9 hitters..

    Artie Lewesky?
Should be a bowler on “The Dude’s Great Lebowski team”

  21. Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:30 pm

Good on Dubon atoning for last night, which is what you want to see. He scalded that ball the other way. Makes Kapler look good, too, for throwing him right back out there.

  22. chipower9 said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:33 pm

You have Gott to be shitting me…

  23. chipower9 said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:35 pm

    Fuck Gott…

  24. Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:36 pm

He serves up a lot of gopher balls.

  25. willedav said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:37 pm

huh gary varsho’s son didn’t realize that. He’s on the splash board.

  26. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:40 pm

If nothing else this should convince Kappy never to use Gott in the 9th anymore!

  27. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:49 pm

If I’m that kayaker I’m holding out as well for some good freebies.

  29. Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 8:59 pm

What the fuck is Kapler doing? He has an absolute hard on for this fucking guy.

    • alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:03 pm

Hmmm Mr.Rogers and Mr.Kotter with a smile on their faces coming out of the closet..

  30. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:00 pm

Kapler’s an idiot when Selman is ready to face the Lefty Escobar!! Stupid is as Stupid does!’

    • Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:01 pm

      No shit.

  31. chipower9 said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:04 pm

Who pitches the 9th for the Gigantes?

    • Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:06 pm

      Watson?

      • chipower9 said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:17 pm

        Good call…

  32. Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:04 pm

I don’t think Kapler has a clue when it comes to handling a pitching staff. And what his love affair with Rogers is about, I have no clue. The guy is mediocre on his best days and it seems like he’s in every game.

  33. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:06 pm

Of course Selman blows away the lefty he could of faced the batter before and it would be 4-2 instead of 4-3..
Now watch Kapler pull Selman for the 9th inning cause he was to effective..

  34. Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:08 pm

    Time for Bart’s first dinger.

  35. James said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:09 pm

    Escobar is a switch hitter.

    • Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:11 pm

And Selman is a better pitcher than Rogers.

  36. Lurker John said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:12 pm

    Shit, thought that was down.

  37. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:17 pm

Yep it’s going to be Watson..
And I’m totally against this move.
Selman deserves this shot and Kapler wouldn’t allow him to do that!

  45. alleykat69 said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:25 pm

Nothing like almost a wall scraper to end it!
    But like u all have said:A win’s a win!!

  46. Carstie Clausen said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:47 pm

Major takeaway. Selman replaces Rogers in the 9th. That ought to be permanent. Watson’s walk year, so he’s going all out and has become an effective closer.

I wonder if any team in MLB history has scored all their runs on a pair of back to back dingers and then a couple of back to back triples. Could just possibly be a first. Noted earlier in this thread that Slater should be okay in another game or too. Needs to do the rustoleum treatment. Kapler ought to have had the sense and savvy not to bat him leadoff when he should have known it was probable he’d be a bit rusty. Hope he’s learning from those hard-won lessons.

Winning run driven in by Scoobie Doobie Do. Dubon taketh away and the next night he giveth right back. Give him some time to settle into his role/s. I like his enthusiasm and the fact that he manned-up and said it was on him for the loss. That takes guts and character. For a young dude, playing in an alien land, he’s doing okay so far.

Bullpen blowups and blowoffs are not all on Kapler. He inherited near total chaos when the Z & H corporation decided to dismantle the pen last season. Dubon was one of the products of the trades and the yet to get the call this year, the long-hoped for former Twins farmhand, Davis was another. I will grant K a nice bronze star if he makes Selman his 8th inning man. It’s always a good idea to promote success.

Bud Light Seltzer is every bit as awful as White Claw.
If I drown it in ice, I can get it down, but the after taste is nauseating…

  48. djloo27 said, on September 5, 2020 at 9:57 pm

    Glad Bum did okay.
We were lucky to have him and Timmy at their best.
We’ll never see anything like that again…

      Well said.

    • chipower9 said, on September 5, 2020 at 10:26 pm

Agree. I was recounting With friends yesterday that for me, the most electricity around the yard on game day was when Timmy was slate to start, and I have been in California and following the Giants since ‘77. Tops anything I ever saw with Bonds, and I was there for most of Barry’s memorable HRs.

      • zumiee said, on September 5, 2020 at 10:56 pm

The closest I ever sat for a Giants game was a Timmy game. 6th row behind the visitors dugout. My wife had gotten us tickets for my birthday.
It was Timmy in his prime. The opposing batters were just up there guessing. He had them completely off-balance. His stuff was so great in those days. An electric fastball, and his change-up which dropped straight down.

  49. zumiee said, on September 5, 2020 at 10:30 pm

According to the timer on my DVR, the bottom of the third inning in last night’s game started at 7:37.
A look at the sky tonight at 7:37 showed twilight, a gray sky.
    But I’m just sayin.’

    • zumiee said, on September 5, 2020 at 10:41 pm

      Last night’s game:
      1st inning started at 6:45
      2nd inning started at 7:12
      3rd inning started at 7:28

      • unca_chuck said, on September 6, 2020 at 9:59 am
