Get Past SD For A Spot

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 25, 2020

Well, here we are. The final regular series of 2020. It certainly doesn’t feel like it should be ending so quickly but that’s what a 60 game season will do to you. We might get in if we win 2 games, we will likely get in if we win 3. San Diego’s motivation level is low so we might have a chance. Either way, if they do get in I’ll feel better about their walk of shame spot because they will have at least beaten a top team to get in……

  24. willedav said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:47 pm

Flavor, no question HRs are up and that it’s a very good thing. but look how many 3 runs bombs the Giants have hit, like tonight, because they have guys that are hitting for average and taking walks and getting on base ahead of them. Dubon had one the other day to win a game. Does not happen without taking walks and getting base hits, even dreaded singles to RF.
Last season giants were 14th for BA and OB slugging and OPS. This year they are much improved at both, top 5 in NL.

Belt is over .300 tremendous improvement, and Crawford is much improved too.

The Mets and Phils have hit more HRs, and btw them they are 7 games under .500 and not going to the expanded playoffs.

  25. Macdog said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:47 pm

    3 batters, get him out.

and Grisham walks it off. Well that’s the end of that experiment. Kapler has to have it beat into his f-ing head, just like with Gott.

  43. chipower9 said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:54 pm

Could have been up two with two to play. Bullshit!

  44. Carstie Clausen said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:54 pm

Why the HELL did Kapler replace Selman with Coonrod? As far as I’m concerned, this one’s on a manager who somehow felt a pitcher who had faced only one batter in the previous inning could not start the finale.

  45. Macdog said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:55 pm

Yep, this one’s on Dunce Kap. Just about all of us saw trouble was coming before Coondick threw his first pitch.

  46. Lurker John said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:55 pm

Please send this cocksucker to the minors. He sucks balls and so does Kapler. His body language is unbelievable. Blowing the game was a foregone conclusion. Dump his ass. He does not belong in the big leagues.

  47. alleykat69 said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:56 pm

Kotter needs some time at the insane asylum and bring Coonrod with him..

  48. mrsprtdude said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:56 pm

    Damn. That really sucks

  49. unca_chuck said, on September 25, 2020 at 9:56 pm

They just coughed up 2 wins. in 2 days. Fuck this.

    • denniszu said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:05 pm

Love to hear the reason for this , the 2nd Coonrod, screw up….2 pitches in….wild wild….the light in Kap’s head.

  52. alleykat69 said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:05 pm

Gottcooned again!! Just ridiculous losses the last few games..

    • denniszu said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:07 pm

Will be hard to sleep on this fuckup

      • chipower9 said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:09 pm

No shit, Dennis. This one will sting for a while.

  53. Charles Talbert Blanchard said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:05 pm

That was some Hunter Strickland shit right there. 1 day after blowing Gausman’s lead, the biggest game of the season is not the time to trot out a headcase. Is Bochy available for the last 2 games of the season. Will anyone take Coonrod and Kapler in a trade. Those are 2 of the worst games I’ve watched, and they tried to give away the one in between.

  54. mrsprtdude said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:06 pm

Hey i’m looking at standings..cards 2 games over in 2nd. Reds 2 games over in 3rd Giants .500 Brewers 28-40. That means SF magic number for 8th spot is 1 right? 1 win for us or 1 lose for brewers and Phils and we lock up the last spot. A win and we would have clinched already.

    • chipower9 said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:14 pm

No. Brewers and Phils own the tie break with us. If we had won tonight, yes, one more win would have done it.

      • Charles Talbert Blanchard said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:18 pm

it’s over. 2 more wins left on the table. who were the other candidates for the job? why was the person who got run out of philly the best choice. that team is still a dumpster fire. do you think the players on the field wanted to see sam coonrod come out to lock down the biggest game of the season after yesterday when he obviously can’t find the zone. awful decision. just ridiculous.

  55. mrsprtdude said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:07 pm

A win and we were in running for 7th. Now its Dodgers or bust. If we vcan’t win 1/2 home games we dont deserve it anyway

  56. snarkk said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:08 pm

    Kruk ripping Kappler, indirectly…

  57. djloo27 said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:11 pm

Why was the dumb motherfucker so fixated on the runner at second?

    • Charles Talbert Blanchard said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:15 pm

Why was he even in the game?

    • chipower9 said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:15 pm

      Because he’s a dumb motherfucker. I agree…fucking idiot.

  58. alleykat69 said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:20 pm

Selman faces 1 batter to close out the 6th inning on 5 pitches which 4 were strikes.
But he can’t go out to pitch the 7th and close it out? Bullshit!
Then Kapler says on postgame on top of that, Peralta’s never been used in a leverage situation, and it was Gott Coon all the way to finish it!!! I’m ready to blow a gasket on Kapler’s incompetence..

    • Charles Talbert Blanchard said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:23 pm

      Just gave away the postseason.

  59. Macdog said, on September 25, 2020 at 10:40 pm

Three of the worst losses this month — the blown 6-1 lead at Coors, yesterday’s loss to the Rox and now this one — all involved Coonrod.

    • chipower9 said, on September 25, 2020 at 11:14 pm

And don’t forget the two against the A’s and the one to the Angels.

  60. willedav said, on September 26, 2020 at 7:35 am

Selman was good call by Kat. Padres mgr. had taken out all the RH power, Tatis Jr. Myers and Machado. so the LH Grisham burns us, after the walk to 9 hitter Garcia. Kapler has to learn everything the hard way.

    • Charles Talbert Blanchard said, on September 26, 2020 at 7:54 am

A guy that had serious control issues the day before and could only hit the zone with 1 pitch was a huge mistake. Doesn’t matter if its bottom of the lineup. Huge Boner there. Should be clinched with 2 to play. Instead are probably going to have to hope for losses from Phillies and Brewers. Some of the worst moves I’ve seen. Bochy was much more in touch with his pitching staff.

I think it is in no small part to the huge staff the Giants currently run. Multiple pitching coaches and assistants. Too many cooks.

In only 60 games they have blown 6 as a conservative estimate. 35-23 looks a lot better than 29-29. Timely hitting from many sources. Bullpen collapses have crushed those efforts. I know you pick up your team, but you also shouldn’t kick them square in the nuts with deflating losses.

      • willedav said, on September 26, 2020 at 8:17 am

agreed. pitching is always going to be Achilles heel though and difference btw SF and better teams. Hitting HRs is fine, preventing them quite another.

  61. Winder said, on September 26, 2020 at 8:46 am

The positive out of all of this is that the Pads really are not beating us we are doing the job for them. In my mind we just have to make better decisions regarding game management. And, we definitely need some better pitching out of the pen and starting. i don’t feel comfortable with Cueto at all.
