I Heard The News Baby ….
Still struggling mightily with the EVH news…..The Dodgers finished off an in tact 4 team parlay for me and after I hit it I actually felt worse. Weirdly, I haven’t seen a second of the NBA playoffs this year. I think there was just too much time off and without the Dubs in it I just never gained any interest or traction.
Four more baseball games today. Who cares, nothing matters.
Last night, the Padres had the bases loaded and one out, and Profar is up there swinging with a big upper-cut for the fences, and strikes out. That’s just not good baseball. I get it about how the game is played now, but it’s not good.
Same with the NBA. 5 offensive players on the perimeter is not good basketball. It’s not fun to watch. The 3-point line finally ended up messing up NBA basketball.
The Bucks have their super talented big guy on the parimeter. What did that accomplish for them? Didn’t even make it to the finals. Not all coaching staffs need to be sheep copying each other.
The Padres had to try to bullpen their way through that game, and it was a valiant effort, but all it takes is one of the bullpen guys to be a dud that night.
Feeling you, Flavor. My older brother and I bonded over VH as kids. “Jump“ in those early MTV video days is still etched in my memory. Slate is a leftist rag but here’s an article I came across about an invention of Eddie’s that might cheer you up at least.
https://tinyurl.com/y2kg3uxy
when me and my friends first heard Jump we were disgusted thinking Eddie had sold out to the synthesizer movement. By like the 4th time hearing it we were like “this is fucking rad”
3 outcome ABs increasingly boring. Yanks K’d 18 times last night, Rays only 6. Pads K’d 14 times with 4 walks and 3 hits, scoring only once. 10 walks for LA. Tedious baseball.
This drum intro will be bad ass until the end of time. If I am not mistaken this song was played on the floor of Congress.
Have not watched a lick of the nba finals and with flav that only thing I am rooting for in baseball besides Flodgers losing is for Dusty…always had a soft spot for our old skipper…
Wish I took this pic but this was the Day on the Green in ’78. The 2 bands apparently gained a huge amount of respect for each other as they were both taking off.
Eddie said it was Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page who influenced him the most growing up.Nice role models to look up too..
The Bands that really got his mojo going for they’re powerful riffs were
Cream,Led Zeppelin,Black Sabbath,The Who,Deep Purple,AC/DC
There is no such thing as a metal band that didn’t worship Zep and Sabbath…
He had a great life and had to be suffering terribly at the end.
It could’ve been worse.
Look at Lennon and my beloved Pantera…
:”Jump” never really worked for me, but I still love the 1984 album. I think “I’ll Wait” is a great synthesizer based tune.
My son Matt and I saw Van Halen in 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl. Great show and they mixed in some cool deep tracks with the big hits. It was the last night of the tour and I suspected it would be the last time Eddie and David Lee played together on stage.
Turns out it was the last VH concert ever.
Almost every major grunge dude from the 90’s is dead…
Pearl Jam is still out there.
And actually, Alice in Chains has some good recent stuff.
No Layne Staley…
this story came out earlier this year, one of my favorite EVH stories. He had no time for shitty musicians lol
https://ultimateclassicrock.com/eddie-van-halen-fred-durst/
That is a great story! I heard an interview with Sammy once talking about the reunion tour he did with them in 2004. It was total chaos. He said every night he worried Eddie would not even make it on stage and be able to play.
Matt Olsen just crushed a Homerun to right up in the pavilion walkway..
Melonhead closes out Game 2, Braves take 2-0 lead.
Figures Melonface goes somewhere else and pitches good.
Because he pitched like a smelly diaper for the Giants!!
Hey, they took his whole contract. He can win the Cy Young for all I care. We ain’t paying him.
Marcus Seiman HR dead center field..
A’s have hit 4HR’s all solo shots LaStella,Cahna,Olsen &Seiman
4-2 A’s bet they wish a couple of those were with runners on.
Just turned on the game, A’s down 5-4. Musta missed something.
Didn’t know Chris Speier was the1st base coach for Dusty. My first favorite rookie Giant. 6-4 Astros.
yeah saw that in Chron today. Also fwiw, Shea mentioned Springer is an FA after this season.
Yeah Speier was awesome coming up as a Rook and playing like a veteran right out of the gate.
Sucks he ends up with this cheating bunch though, but there are only so many coaching opportunities..
Tucker beats shift with single up the middle off Diekman, A’s third pitcher of 5th. Stros bat around and score 5, lead 7-4. Ball flying out of Latrine again today–Astros have 2 HRs and 4 for A’s as Kat said.
Weird stat from yesterday game—A’s hit 2 solo bombs in 5-2 L, but never had runner in scoring position. 0 baserunners from 5th through 8th.
3 run bomb and A’s tie it up 7-7 in 6th. Wild back and forth game.
top of A’s order Semien LaStella and Pinder so far: 7 for 11 scored 5 driven in 5 runs.
wow Melvin brings in closer Hendriks to pitch 8th vs. Astros Altuve Brantly Bregman. Gets them 1-2-3. Wonder how long he’ll go.
Hendriks btw is one of number of A’s to be an FA–Fiers LaStella Grossman and Semien. lot of hmmnn there
sorry that was bottom 7th Diekman came in–teams flip at neutral sites and Astros are home today.
Crazy game at the Latrine as the A’s retake the lead 8-7 on a sac fly.
A’s rally off Raley.
9-7 on another sac fly
Huh. Never seen this before. A simpler time. Sex drugs and rock & roll.
Yeah sure is nice that I can still do all 3..🤣🤣🤣
I had that red shirt…
As Ian Anderson might have told Dusty, Nothing is Easy.
Hendriks never makes things easy but he somehow gets out and he just came thru again!
No doubt he pitches the 9th inning he’ll he threw 49 pitches to retire 10 Whitesox’s hitters, he’s only at 25 right now…Should be interesting 🤔 in the bottom of the 9th, maybe A’s can get another run to help him out
Hmm Stros are going with a Scubb?
Too old to rock and roll, too young to die.
How hard would it be to come up through a farm system with the name Andre Scrubb?
Whitesox’s had a pitcher in the A’s series named Aaron Bummer, that can’t be easy as well,
Hmmm 🤔 what if they played on the same team and the manager needs a reliever and he’s thinking man, do I go with the Scrubb are bring in the other guy which could be a real Bummer?
A’s win!
Hella save for Hendriks, 3 full innings
Hendrix’s must have a rubber arm cause Melvin works his ass off! Nice comeback win!
Oh btw another reason to hate the Astros, How come they turn the stadium lights on for them and not in the top of the inning for A’s?Thats BS and Melvin let The homeplate ump know about it.Along with maybe getting another 2 cents in about that catcher interference call that stood up and replays showed probably not..
same thing with last year’s World Series. Team that homered most often won each individual game all 7 times.
Funny thing is, total bombs btw Nats and Houston were dead even 11-11 and so were team ERAs.
Yanks gotta change the scouting report on Arozarena. wow is he going off
he is so much fun to watch.
Have some fun, Flavor.
You deserve it!
speaking of going off, no homers yet but Dodgers are 5-14 off Davies. 2 of the outs last inning, the line drive to 3b by Betts and the last rocket to deep CF by Smith that Grisham ran down, were both smoked.
Bellinger changes that. 4-1 LA. Pads don’t get to Opie soon they’re doomed.
davies got through 5 innings for Tingler but gave up 9 hits to 23 batters he faced.
LHs Seager Muncy Bellinger 4-8, 2 doubles HR and all 4 rbis.
Freakin Bellinger with a great catch to rob Tatis jr of a homer!
Cody’s dad (lifetime .193 hitter) has 2 WS rings…
The hopeless Pads just went 1-2-3 in the 8th in about two minutes, I didn’t think that was possible anymore, especially in a playoff game.
About to ruin Passan call too if they don’t rally
Told ya Jansen is a bum! They lit him up and now the Padres still have a pulse..
Roberts finally seen enough.
Pads right there great 9th
Goddamn Hosmer. Two great ABs by Tatis and Machado to load the bases, and this douche flails away at a 1-1 ball and eventually grounds out to end it.
Well crap u couldn’t ask for more drama in the 9th.
Kelly got the best of Hosmer now it’s 2-0’dogpile..
