A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Weekend

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 31, 2020

Pretty lazy little Saturday, actually. Might fire up a late pick 4 at Del Mar. Will be fiddling around with my NFL teams at draftkings in preparation for Sunday’s action. Let’s see what good ol’ Bozo is up to…….

Hope you guys have a safer Sunday than that Clown who seems to have cornered himself into quite the pickle.

    how great is Buster.

    • Flavor said, on October 31, 2020 at 7:30 am

what a special gift it would be to have the ability to make strangers happy no matter where you go.

    • Winder said, on October 31, 2020 at 8:56 am

That was special. So many people had their lives turned around the last couple of years. Especially by the fires on the west coast.

That pic Flav shared of Stick from 1960 made me think about first game I ever went to there. I’ll try and find game, vs. Phils, on B/R which is likely different from how I remember it. We (5 of us in family) would go on Sunday usually sitting in upper boxes, in first few rows and just to left of home plate. good place to see game, be in the sun most of day, and catch vendors going by.

Good luck to Posey in upcoming season. Hopefully he has recovered sufficiently enough to be better hitter than what he has shown in recent years and can help guide pitchers (and his mgr. and staff) to develop and mature.
Pavs on nbc site had interesting answers to mailbag questions from fans, adding that he’d like to see Giants re-sign some of their FA (Gausman Smyly) pitchers and add couple others into staff too.

    • djloo27 said, on October 31, 2020 at 8:41 am

From what I’ve been reading, Gausman’s gonna have plenty of offers.
      In other words: See ya!

      • xoot said, on October 31, 2020 at 8:46 am

Yeah he sort of stood out in the FA list.

      • Carstie Clausen said, on October 31, 2020 at 9:48 am

Gausman has more than once that he likes SF and would prefer to stay. Dude seems solid. Unless the Brass goes balls to the walls for Bauer, Gausman is clearly the #2 choice. Right now the Giants are positioned well to expand their payroll. IMHO G. should be a no-brainer.

      • alleykat69 said, on October 31, 2020 at 11:18 am

Whet they say and what they do are 2 different things. Gausman might say he loves SF but eventually the money will talk.Besides the Giants are atleast 3 years away from contenders. Why waste your last big payday on the Giants when u can go to a playoff bonafide team?

  3. djloo27 said, on October 31, 2020 at 8:43 am

What is going on in that Bozo picture???

    • Bozo said, on October 31, 2020 at 8:52 am

Scouting OFers. These dudes can really catch flies.

clemson QB replacement for Mr. Lawrence is kid from St. John Bosco of Bellflower with unpronounceable name.
I saw him in HS state playoff game vs. DeLaSalle, whom they thrashed and he looked very polished.

Amazing story that some guy donated 25K baseball cards to this girl. Awesome!

It’s a sad day again with the passing of legendary actor 007 Sean Connery at the age of 90, No James Bond was ever better imo..
He was every woman’s dream and every man’s envy. He was suave, sophisticated, a man’s man that could seduce women with just his looks and eye contact are a witty line like when in Goldfinger he wakes up groggy on a jet and the lady pilot says :”My name is pussy galore and James quickly responds “I must be in Heaven”
There were 2 idols growing up in the film industry for me, Sean Connery chic magnet, and Clint Eastwood overall bad ass and his facial expression without saying a word are priceless on film..

RIP Sean Connery you were special 🙏

    • Winder said, on October 31, 2020 at 12:18 pm

Sean Connery did make a great James Bond 007. RIP

Should of read :I must be dreaming.. my bad

  7. willedav said, on October 31, 2020 at 2:24 pm

    Beam me up
Capt. Scotty had more than enough power to win 4th at DelMar ridden by Abel Cedillo.

Originals started when I was in middle school but other than those never watched any of the pickard stuff nor any movies…or wore such a related costume.

    • Flavor said, on October 31, 2020 at 2:53 pm

I love that you are watching del mar today. Are you gambling too or just watching because it’s fun to watch horse racing?

      • willedav said, on October 31, 2020 at 3:23 pm

not gambling. Beautiful place and racing is definitely fun to watch.
Those turf races where they come onto final part of the track to end race usually give outside horses real chance for wild close finish. No interview babes today.

      • Flavor said, on October 31, 2020 at 3:46 pm

If we ever get to do anything social again you should come down with us to del mar. I know San dawg would be out of his mind with a willieD sighting

      • willedav said, on October 31, 2020 at 4:32 pm

thanks. Was so fun to see everyone at yard year before. hopefully we get to have get together again, maybe by next year.

Anything with Kate Pierson is fine by me.

Or Cindy Wilson for that matter.

  12. blade3colorado said, on November 1, 2020 at 9:09 am

Unca and/or Flavor . . . What do you think about Aiyuk? Specifically, against a mediocre Seahawks secondary – I am looking for him to have a career game, especially with Samuel out. I have him in a couple of DK LUs today. Very few games I like today due to wind factor over much of NFL today.

    • Flavor said, on November 1, 2020 at 10:41 am

sure I could see him having a big game today.

  13. mrsprtdude said, on November 1, 2020 at 9:13 am

Big game for the Niners today. happy it is national game so i get to watch!
Baseball.. I am a Shandler guy in evaluating pitchers.. keona Kela was his target for Pirates closer job. he has been in MLB for 5 seasons. under the radar in Tex and Pittsburg. 216 combined innnings 266 K’s 1.12 whip. 1.01 last year. BPX over 118 every year. he should be our closer next year.
Sign him , Buaer and J Bradley and we are competing again. Not my money but I LOVE Bauer. Love his pitching and his smarts, his no hypocrisy attitude!

    • Flavor said, on November 1, 2020 at 10:41 am

you can watch every game whenever you want.

It worked great for watching some Giants games for me. Great picture, local broadcast. If the 9ers aren’t showing here I’ll be using it today.

  14. mrsprtdude said, on November 1, 2020 at 9:15 am

Aiyuk is a stud. Watched him a ot at ASU. The fact that Samuel and Kittle are talking him up in their YAC group means he has their respect already. No small thing.

    • blade3colorado said, on November 1, 2020 at 9:20 am

Kid is gifted at running too . . . Looking for him to get 2-3 touches on the ground (especially since the Niners are thin at RB).

      • Winder said, on November 1, 2020 at 12:41 pm

Aiyuk is in a few of my lineups today also. He should at least get respectable numbers.

    • willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 10:20 am

Love Coach Herm. Next Saturday night ASU at USC as Pac 12 finally opens…hopefully

  15. mrsprtdude said, on November 1, 2020 at 11:05 am

Love herm too, but wasn’t at 1st. Re game thought it is 9:00 AM not PM
Odd I know, but didn’t want you to miss the game:)

    • willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 2:26 pm

thx! just assumed it was 9 ET, customary night game. Fox puts Pac 12 on AM, very cool.

  16. alleykat69 said, on November 1, 2020 at 12:51 pm

Cody Parkey run out of Chicago now likely run out of Cleveland!
The guy just can’t make a clutch FG when needed..

  17. willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm

You can’t blow scoring ops vs. Seattle. Wilson always makes them pay, now it’s 7-0 after first Q SF had mostly dominated.

  18. willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 2:11 pm

Nice grab. Mr.Bourne better have big identity today.

  19. alleykat69 said, on November 1, 2020 at 2:16 pm

Picked up Hasty paying Dividends as my top RB is on a bye week! Has a quick 9 pts with that TD.

  20. willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 2:25 pm

Niners score and 3 minutes later Wilson has them on 1 yd line.

  21. Winder said, on November 1, 2020 at 2:45 pm

If we don’t make some adjustments in the second half i don’t think we have a chance. Jimmy is just getting hammered

  22. zumiee said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:15 pm

The 49er linebacker had the running back covered and then let him go. Bad decision.

  23. djloo27 said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:19 pm

    Tommy LaStella anyone?

    • willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:25 pm

Hell ya. A’s got him from Angels, great pickup. Has power and can play 2b and 3b, hits LH. Perfect for SF.
Still wonder who is gonna fill in as Crawford’s back up at SS…let alone after contract runs out. Pavs suggested Giants might wind up extending him.

  24. Macdog said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:21 pm

Bears-Saints is NYC area game. Bears WR Wims just got kicked out for slapping a Saints DB twice in the head, the second one pretty hard.

    • unca_chuck said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:38 pm

The WR tried to poke hm in the eye on the previous play.

    • xoot said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:45 pm

      Aw! Slaps hurt!

  25. unca_chuck said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:28 pm

There are times I really hate football. Jimmy G is atrocious. Our play calling is schitzophrenic. I know we are hurt, but with Seattle playing EVERYBODY up, we have to try going downfield. This is just like Harbaugh, Tomsula, Nolan, short passing football.

Now they are dropping their safeties.

    • xoot said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:39 pm

Jimmy G sucks, the OL does too. Can’t wait for Thurs night. The running backs are tough mofos and Kittle is great. Wasted.

  26. unca_chuck said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:37 pm

Jimmy G showed no heart on the scramble.

  27. Macdog said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:37 pm

  28. unca_chuck said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:38 pm

Wow. I guess we’ll find out if he Gasman really wants to stay.

  29. xoot said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:40 pm

    Serious move from Z.

    • willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:53 pm

As you said above, he does stand out among FA SPs. Lot of teams desperate for pitching. Either way seems like nice payoff for 2 months worth of good work by Gausman.

      • xoot said, on November 1, 2020 at 4:46 pm

Giants know him. Should know what he’s worth. He knows the Giants. Similarly. This negotiation could tell us something about Kap et al.

  30. willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:48 pm

Popular Kid wins 7th by a head bob at Del Mar in exciting stretch comeback as 13-1 choice and nice win for jockey Tyler Baze, nephew of Russell B.
Guess we’ll find out how popular Kap and Giants are to Gausman. He could take the nice one year payoff, or as Baggs said they might work out multi year deal too, hmmnn. Or of course Gausman could still see what ikind of $$ is available elsewhere.

    • Flavor said, on November 1, 2020 at 4:38 pm

that was an incredible race. Baze nailed that horse on the wire.

  31. xoot said, on November 1, 2020 at 3:48 pm

Wonderful. Kittle gets seriously hurt making a great play in a lost game.

  32. unca_chuck said, on November 1, 2020 at 4:10 pm

Get the 2 and we are in business. Nope.

  33. willedav said, on November 1, 2020 at 4:18 pm

8th at Del Mar was exciting stakes race, won by Strong Constitution with late run finding room at rail behind leaders to win hotly contested stretch run, ridden by Abel Cedillo for his 5th W on the day.

Y’all have stronger constitution than I do to watch f-ing Seachickens up there, even without any fans. took 6 point lead at half and ran away with 2 quick scores. Mullens is in there now and throws late TD? Good for him, but bottom line is wilson still owns Saleh hands down, even with his back up rook running back. Sickening.

    • unca_chuck said, on November 1, 2020 at 6:25 pm

The bigger problem was we gave Seattle 2 TDs. As beat up as the defense is, they didn’t do that bad considering. And fucking Garoppolo is worthless at this point. Both turnovers gave Seattle short fields. Hard for ANY defense to stop Seattle, but when you gain 1 yard in the 3rd quarter, what is going to happen? The play calls with Jimmy G in there are ridiculous. Shanahan has NO confidence in Jimmy to do anything but throw behind the line of scrimmage. Seattle’s defense has been averaging like 350 yards given up in the air per game, but we couldn’t attack because Garoppolo is either as gun shy as fuck, or just can’t decide fast enough to avoid sacks or get out of trouble.

Wilson is hands down the best QB in the NFL this year. Give hhim that many chances and you just can’t win a game. We almost made it close with Mullens in there. Mullens needs to be the starter the next 3 games at least. Jimmy is either hurt and can’t play, or he is just done.

  34. Flavor said, on November 1, 2020 at 4:53 pm

WillieD giving quick rundowns on random races is my new favorite thing to look forward to here at Flap

  35. Flavor said, on November 1, 2020 at 6:06 pm

LOL how did I miss this? Ten Years ago today.

  36. Flavor said, on November 1, 2020 at 6:09 pm

Huff is a disturbed moron but when he hit that pile and raised his SF cap…..man, that did it for me……..
