Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on November 6, 2020

Apologies to my Niner brethren but I had to make some free money on that game last night. GB -6.5 was a gift.

Totally bummed I’m missing the BC today but tomorrow has got my eyeballs popping out of my head in anticipation.

BB’s will be posted for sure……..

Noticed leading SoCal jockeys Flavien Pratt and Umberto Rispoli have mounts today at BC, though long odds on both their horses.

    • Flavor said, on November 6, 2020 at 8:50 am

both are great jockeys (Rispoli is especially good on the turf). However it should be noted that many of the best jockeys have left SoCal in the last couple of years due to dwindling opportunities with shorter fields and absurd new rules that are not in place in other states. California racing is dying a fairly slow death and it is a terrible thing. One day soon Ca racing will no longer exist.

IDK, Flavor. The sport’s been dying slowly for 40+ years.
I think we’ll see continued consolidation (like banks) but it’ll never die altogether.
How the hell harness racing survives is the real baffler to me.
I don’t think anyone under 50 even knows what it is…

racing is still thriving in other parts of the country, there are full fields everywhere–except California. On track attendance wil be dead forever but that doesn’t mean the sport needs to die.

I remember seeing harness race highlights on tv sports segments. 50s era iirc.

I always liked watching the buggy races.

      • djloo27 said, on November 6, 2020 at 12:25 pm

Roosevelt Raceway might have been my favorite place on Earth.
Even for dates (with actual girls)…

Btw Tigers hiring Hinch and BoSox hiring back Cora, appears baseball establishment and owners not near as concerned over past indiscretions as lot of fans are. hmmnn an acknowledgment they weren’t only guilty ones?

Willied, I think you just hammered that nail head.

  3. willedav said, on November 6, 2020 at 12:57 pm

Watching that Juvenile fillies BC race, it took 5 guys to shove the #6 into the starting gate. Looks like rough gig if horse isn’t quite ready.

We lived for a couple of years on an Air Force base in England. A guy from the nearest village who called himself a green grocer used to come around the neighborhood selling vegetables etc. and taking bets on horse races. We were twelve thirteen years old but he gladly took our shillings. We’d run to a tv to watch the b/w track coverage. I don’t remember any of us ever winning a fucking thing. I guess that experience made me cynical about the sport, amazing as the horses and jockeys and training staff and races are.

    Justin Turner off the hook…

    • alleykat69 said, on November 6, 2020 at 4:31 pm

Of course Turner is off the hook, because Manfred is a spineless, gutless, little twerp of a commissioner that has no balls and needs to step down for the good of the game!

    • Flavor said, on November 6, 2020 at 4:47 pm

      that really surprises me

    • djloo27 said, on November 6, 2020 at 6:34 pm

Yeah, c’mon WillieD, come on over to the dark side!

      • Flavor said, on November 6, 2020 at 6:42 pm

i have invited Denny to join in the fun. He’s probably too much of a pussy to come back. But if he does we shall welcome him back with open arms and turn this blog into a horse racing blog the way we did the Splash low those twelve years ago……..

      • willedav said, on November 6, 2020 at 7:36 pm

lulz y’all are funny. If I open anything tomorrow it probably comes out the fridge.

No punishment for Turner, and Hinch and Cora are back after missing the mini-season. The Commissioner continues to be a bad joke.

    • Flavor said, on November 6, 2020 at 5:32 pm

that is just astounding. He needs to be removed he’s worthless.

I missed the Politics allowed day so here goes. I am the self appointed hypocracy police:) I am a moderate for sure and have voted across the board for all sorts of candidates. A registered democrat who is sick of both sides…

For democrates to believe the only reason people vote for Trump is either racism, stupidity, or greed is so simplistic it is annoying. Maybe they vote republican because the Democrats have gone off the rails. In Ca the democratic state gov considering reparations? crazy. In this years vote a bill was put up to allow affermative action. Luckily it was crushed, as people think it’s a great idea until it sinks in that merrit isn’t the only factor to getting a job or a contact. They vote because they like a system where the wealthy already pay a lot in taxes, and the tenent of every democratic platform is “the wealthy don’t pay their fair share”. Where their is no thought to every wealthy person got that way because they had a great idea, risked everyhting for it, and the world loves it so much they got rich. A world where police are evil and it’s horrible to “play to your base” if a republican, but wearing african scarves at the capitol to pander for votes was ok when evil trump is pres, but not a peep out of any democrate when they controlled the house and senate with an african american president when Trevon martin killed. Apparently racism only became an issue for them recently…

The internet wold have exploded with coverage if a computer showing a Trump kid doing the things or showing the emails on the Biden computer. Of course everyone would have said it was hoax right? Imagine the stories if Trump jr got a board seat on an eastern block country’s top energy company for $ 500,000 a year. Of course it would be because he is qualified and no way it was to buy any influence:) Of course the upstanding dad knew nothing about it. lastly this….

I borrowed this from Kirstie to prove a point…..but imagine the explosion in the US on real and social media if the republicans had an “uptike” in votes like this in 2 states at the same time and blamed it on a clerical error. NO I AM not a conspiracy guy, but makes me laugh at how one sided coverage is….Will Miracles never cease? There were miracles, I tell you. Between 2 and 3:30 a.m., EST, Wisconsin election officials revealed that there was a sudden eruption of wise Wisconsinners—125,000 of them who cast their ballots UNANIMOUSLY for the Harris-Biden ticket. ABC News and Nate Silver’s 5:38 initially posted the information.
The same amazing acts of grace occurred a few hours later in Michigan, just after 6 a.m., when an even more majestic miracle occurred. More than 138,000 marvelous Michiganders and Michigeese majestically voted for the Democrat ticket, while Trump was skunked.

Trump is an idiot, but if you think the dems will change things because they are “good people” vs just trying to stay invpower thats nuts.. Go Giants:)
    Sorry craig..I hope i get a pass:)

    • zumiee said, on November 6, 2020 at 9:26 pm

I followed the train of thought in your post for a while until it went off the rails into conspiracy theory wreckage.

  11. mrsprtdude said, on November 6, 2020 at 11:35 pm

My bad. I not that guy and shouldn’t have put that in. My point was if Trumps numbers jumped like that people would go crazy. Bidens do and its a clerical error:) No question Trump should concede.

    • unca_chuck said, on November 7, 2020 at 8:12 am

When Brian Kemp ran for the GA senate against Stacey Abrams, and as the current secretary of state oversaw the election, there was little outcry as rejected ballots in Gwinnett County, as being a huge conflict of interest.

  12. unca_chuck said, on November 7, 2020 at 8:07 am

My concern is how does an openly psychotic wingnut like Donald Trump get 70 million votes when you do such a shitty job of doing anything? Acting like a petulant 5 year old whining about the press, destroying decades-long alliances while cozying up to dictators and openly lining his pockets at the cost of the people simply baffles me no end.
