A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Masters

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on November 14, 2020

If this isn’t capturing your attention you don’t like golf. Uh, come to think of it, that’s probably most of you. Lqtm.

But it really is shaping up to be an amazing tournament. It looks like the cut line is going to stay at even and that is huge with 11 guys sitting at even right now. There are FIVE guys tied for the lead at -9 and FIVE MORE right behind them at -8.

Bernhard Freaking Langer made the cut. He’s 63!!!! That is one of the most incredible feats in sport you will ever see.

All the big names made it through, this weekend is going to be insane.

I think Giants shopping/spending under Z says more about ownership trusting him, based on his background with Oakland and LA. The A’s obviously under Beane were notorious for not spending. LA under Friedman has done very few long term deals until Betts. Even Seager and Bellinger haven’t gotten type of deals to extend beyond arb years like SF gave Belt and Crawford. Turner and Jansen got shorter deals too when they were briefly on open market and ultimately extended.

Of the Giants albatross contracts, how many of them were “thank you” deals for the 3 titles?
Hard to say, but the Giants refuse to just shrug them off and continue spending like the Yanks.
Seems like everyone but Bum got one…

del mar had great racing yesterday–props to Loo with flav assistance for picking winner in 9th with Umberto Rispoli aboard.
Lesser known jockeys won earlier races, including Jessica Pyfer and Tyler Baze had 29-1 winner.
Flavien Pratt had 2 winners including 10-1 shot in 5th and come from behind win along rail in the 8th.
Abel Cedillo won 6th and Rispoli was barely denied in 7th, when the gal commentator Christina Blacker had the longshot 18-1 winner who won by head bob.
    Golf???? pass

    • Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 7:37 am

Christina Blacker is one of the few commentators who I’ll even listen to. Most of them don’t know shit. Simon Bray is another. CB is married to Dan Blacker a very good, underrated trainer.

    • djloo27 said, on November 14, 2020 at 8:56 am

      Major Flavor assistance on that.
I was leaning elsewhere but the toteboard and mostly Flavor’s wisdom put me on the winner.
Ignore him at your own peril…

      • Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 9:17 am

the way the SoCal jockey pool has been diluted you could probably just take Prat and Rispoli and have a decent shot to win 50% of the turf races down there. So, if you’re having trouble picking a lane either or both of them is usually a good Plan B

Who are the big golf guys here?
I know San Dog loves to play, but not sure how much he watches.
    I think I could’ve been a decent caddy…

    LMAO

  6. Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 9:22 am

obviously I prefer to play golf than to watch it. But i still watch it under the right circumstances and if I have money on it.

Yeah, there’s nothing I like about golf. The little pencils are OK. They are maybe golf’s greatest contribution to civilization.

Hell golf is great! I play in a club and theirs nothing better then getting up early traveling to your course of destination maybe have a Bloody Mary with your breakfast in the clubhouse, while you’re shootin the breeze with your buddies knowing you escaped from your wife/girlfriend for a day. Then the ultimate “The Overnighter 2 Day tournament “
where you might be going to Reno/ Napa are Monterey for golf dinner and drinking it’s the best enjoyment ever. It’s fun to go on these types of road trips until unfortunately this fuckin Virus 🦠 put an end to it for now..

That shot by Jon Rahm in the practice rd on Wednesday has to be one of the greatest hole in one’s ever. Just dicking around with Rickie Fowler he, takes out a iron and at the tee and skips in on the pond 4 times and it rolls up a slope above the green and with perfect speed it end up in the clowns mouth for an “ACE” Unreal! That’s what makes it such a great sport, anything can happen, and it can happen to you with one swing that can make your day!

To me watching golf on tv is like watching Crusader Rabbit when I was a kid.

  11. mrsprtdude said, on November 14, 2020 at 12:31 pm

Love golf. Play once a month or s, watch weekends of the majors. Too time consuming. Masters is my favorite by far. I went to it in 2005 with my dad. Wife bought it for me for my 40th! Tiger won.

Loo how prevalent are these in NY? Are they everywhere? We don’t have these out here.

    • djloo27 said, on November 14, 2020 at 1:49 pm

They went out of business in NYC almost 10 years ago. They still have them out on Long Island.
They were all over the place at their peak but the city mismanaged them
      into bankruptcy.
I could write volumes about them. A million memories.
You might as well Google NYC Off Track Betting.
I can fill in all the blanks…

finished mid pack. I missed the start of the race and she was dead last into the first turn, did she break badly?

      • willedav said, on November 14, 2020 at 1:37 pm

Yes dead last and far back but closed to 4th. Abel Cedillo horse #4 won at 15-1.

Beautiful TD off slant pattern from slot for Colorado wideout D Stanley. 55 yds last 40 on his own and untouched as he outran Stanford secondary.

  15. willedav said, on November 14, 2020 at 4:55 pm

Wazzu is now coached by local guy Nick Rolovich. Played HS ball at Marin Catholic, JC ball at CCSF where he later coached and runs fun offense to watch. In tough tonite hosting Oregon but moved ball right down field first time they had it for TD.

  16. Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 5:42 pm

Harbs has probably run out his luck right? MIchigan has to can his ass for this?

    • Macdog said, on November 14, 2020 at 5:46 pm

One more TD and they should go to a running clock.

      • Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:00 pm

Harbs is not a good coach. He has some gimmicky shit he can use to get them to play for a while, it always fizzles out. And if he can’t make it work at Michigan, man, it’s truly over for him. The game has passed him by.

  17. Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:03 pm

Man, I finally got flagged at twitter. Twitter jail. I responded to that fucking click bait whore Candace Owens and I did say some pretty egregious stuff but nothing that would even get flagged at the Flap. They made me remove it and now I only have access to certain twitter features. Whatever. Fuck her. She’s a disgusting grifting piece of shit.

    • Macdog said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:51 pm

What was the tweet? Because whatever you said to that DGPOS I’m sure it was spot-on accurate.

  18. Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:04 pm

I blocked that ho. Now who’s got the upper hand. lulz.

  19. Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:11 pm

Jim Harbaugh can eat shit and David Shaw can eat TWICE the shit Harbaugh eats. They are both terrible coaches who are completely overrated. Game has passed them both by.

Sorry for the PSA Flav, but for y’all that like New Orleans music, Tipitina’s facebook page is streaming bits from past shows. They just had a few of Fess and now it’s Dr John.

    • Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:15 pm

woo hoo! I don’t know what the fuck that means and you didn’t give a link but I support any and all BOZO comments!!!!!!

      • Bozo said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:36 pm

Thanks Flav, I was wrong, anyway the streaming is on their web page. They’re trying to raise cash but you don’t have to donate (but it is a legendary club) and they are showing some great stuff.

I walked by Tipitinas many years ago on my one brief trip to NO. Alas, not lucky enough for a Snooks Eaglin to be on the bill. I also saw Trent Reznor’s Garden District mansion. The influences of place can be subtle.

  21. Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:16 pm

I can’t post anything at twitter for another 11 hours and 23 minutes. What the fuck am I supposed to do till then?

  22. willedav said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:24 pm

Not likely to happen but if Z wanted to fire up fanbase some he’d sign Marcell Ozuna. DH is coming soon enough and if he has to play LF for a while so be it. Giants won freaking World Series titles with likes of Burrell, Morse and Ishi out there.
    And yes good pitching.

    • Flavor said, on November 14, 2020 at 6:29 pm

i sign off on any right handed bat with power. ANY RIGHT HANDED BAT WITH POWER.

    • djloo27 said, on November 14, 2020 at 9:16 pm

Why fire up fans if they’re not gonna be allowed in the park?

Golf is just alright with me. Played a lot as a kid and teen. Even played once on mushrooms. Man, the colors on the course that day….. I always loved being out there on a beautiful day. All my aunts/uncles/cousins on my Father’s side are/were true golfers, golfed all the time, they were kinda boring and took it very seriously, too seriously for me. Loved George Carlin’s bit about the silliness of the seriousness of golf, talking about the silence and utmost concentration when someone was putting, contrasted with brain surgeons who gab and laugh with each other while performing brain surgeries. Golf highlights for me I suppose would include playing at courses in China, Mexico, and Ireland… sweet little seaside course in Ireland, that was beautiful. It’s been years now, though. I still go out now and then and hit a bucket of balls at a range right on the Saigon River.

this is a great post. And it is being fast tracked to the Flap HOF. There’s no criteria for it I just know it when i read it…..

My idea of a foreign country is Connecticut…

      • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on November 14, 2020 at 7:49 pm

Haha, growing up in NJ, that’s how I always felt about Pennsylvania. Hated PA ’cause when we’d do our annual summer road trips mostly to the midwest to visit family, it took 7 f-ing hours to drive through that state….

  24. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on November 14, 2020 at 7:50 pm

Sometimes you don’t have to go far to find paradise. My favorite golf hole ever, practically right in my SF backyard: the 17th par 3 at Lincoln Park, overlooking the Golden Gate….

    Herb Pennock is a HOFer?
