A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

That Raider Game

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on November 23, 2020

Did anyone think for a SECOND that Mahomes wasn’t going to easily march down the field and win the game in the final drive? He had, what, a little under 2 minutes? He could have done that in 20 seconds. That guy is incredible AND the Raiders deserve some shit for whatever defense they played at the end–it literally looked like there was no defense.

I’m excited to see some support for my Renfroe idea. When I tout a player I usually hear about how their OPS sucks or all they do is hit home runs or stolen bases aren’t an inefficient way to score or whatever……

So Zaidi let’s go, Renfroe Time.

Oh yeah Mahomes got it done. throws darts. Still, Carr was impressive and their line gave him all day and opened holes for Jacobs too. Very entertaining game.

Evaluating what players did in 2020 is still a crapshoot imo. Sure Renfroe didn’t do much and looked awful striking out all the time in playoffs, but maybe change of scenery and full ST routine gets him back on track. If that means no more Slater, not a big loss. Couldn’t stay on field last year even for 60 games.

Slater is arb eligible for the 1st time this year, so we’ll see how much they want him at leadoff against LHers next month when the arb deadline happens. He does tend to get injured every time the wind changes directions and Zaidi traded for Ruf when he was with LA so yeah, Slater might be packing his bags.

Don’t like the guy but Gruden had pretty good night calling plays. Just got outdone by Reid, especially red zone and short yardage. Both teams nightmare for D co ordinators.

Teams play prevent to win defense are the end of games, its not shocking anymore just predictable!
Kelce was wide open as number 20 throws his hands up like where’s the rest of my DB’S look lol with they’re ole defense. Of course then theirs the Bills pathetic defense with 3 guys draped all over Hopkins on the “Hail Murray”throw that should easily fight harder to knock it away but Hopkins had more heart& desire to win then the Bills!!
Yes I’ve always liked Renfroe, he’s played well at the O, always ripping Giants pitching, his power being Right handed a major plus,I’m just wondering if he’s just not a Z guy with his low BA,OBP, and K ratio, his Defense is no worse probably better then Dickerson. What is it about playing LF ?The Giants can never find a guy there that can flash some leather..

Mahomes just won’t let them lose, but their D, ST & pass protection better get it together or it’s gonna be very hard to repeat. Kelce being wide open at the end was unfathomable…

You should be rooting hard for the Ravens on Thanksgiving. If Pitt and KC finish tied overall and with the same conference record, the next tie-breaker is common games. Baltimore beating Pitt would give KC the top spot and the much-coveted playoff bye.

        Thanks, Mac.
As if cooking for my 30 dinner guests wasn’t enough to do…

Yeah, I almost thought the Raiders best ploy was go backwards on the goal line to try and burn clock. They did it a little bit but still scored too fast.

Flavor: Did Carson get his first injection?

    • Flavor said, on November 23, 2020 at 9:48 am

taking him into the dr. in 2 hours to get the sensor put on his back. Then he gets his first shot TONIGHT!

  7. unca_chuck said, on November 23, 2020 at 11:53 am

Dubs got Bazemore back. Always liked that guy. Decent defender and good shooter.

    • gianthead said, on November 23, 2020 at 12:14 pm

Loved Bazemore but he has not been very impactful last couple of seasons…hope he makes an impact…

  8. gianthead said, on November 23, 2020 at 12:12 pm

A cheap Renfroe dumpster dive makes a lot of sense….any thoughts about Rangers Calhoun as a left bench bat who can play 2nd and backup Solano or also play CF/LF and either Lynn, Gibson or Lyles as an extra rotation piece or James Paxton as a cheap reclamation project and a needed lefty for the rotation…

    • gianthead said, on November 23, 2020 at 12:16 pm

Renfroe forces a healthy competition with Ruff…

      • djloo27 said, on November 23, 2020 at 12:28 pm

Not exactly McCovey and Cepeda competing for 1B…

    • alleykat69 said, on November 23, 2020 at 2:04 pm

Think the Giants filled that spot with the signing of Jason Voler LH bat that can play multiple positions on the infield. Then again more cheap competition the better with what Zman thinks..
Yeah they can use a lefty in the starting pitcher role so I could be in with a flier on Paxton though..

Feel bad for the Bengals organization. They can’t seem to catch a break, losing Burrow is bad enough but he just might not make it back with this one. It sounds real serious.

    • alleykat69 said, on November 23, 2020 at 2:48 pm

      Yeah me too Winder!
It’s both a ACL &MCL injury, think Bridgewater and before him Carson Palmer.Hope Burrow can make it back but it’s a bigtime rehab for him..
What sucks is the Bengals did nothing significant to upgrade their lousy OL as Burrow was getting sacked are hit a lot like when David Carr was getting killed in Houston starting out.Rookie QB’s take a pounding sadly, hopefully Herbert holds up with the Chargers..

I know someone here was talking about this tune the other day. Just ran across this. Don’t know if it’s a good version or not. But i like it.

    • willedav said, on November 23, 2020 at 3:06 pm

Ha, yeah great tune written by latin percussionist Willie Bobo, who played with local guy Cal Tjader at time his band recorded “Viva Cepeda” in 1958 live at old Blackhawk in SF. Don’t have any of Mr. Bobo LPs but you can find his version on y/t.
This is nice though, thx for posting!

Fun time at the vet. Also, while I was there I left my ph on top of my car and drove away. So for those of you who text/call me don’t do that for a while

  12. alleykat69 said, on November 23, 2020 at 4:18 pm

Bummer BF, Sounds like the Allstate commercial with the Goldfish bowl on top of the car, are the jello mold.
On the bright side it wasn’t Carson in the cat traveling box..

    • Flavor said, on November 23, 2020 at 4:57 pm

LOL, yeah, glad it wasn’t him. 100% my fault i can’t believe I did that haven’t done anything that stupid in many many years. Maybe since Katie’s mom? lulz

Blake Snell, anybody.? Couple hours ago MLBTR noted that the Rays are sniffing around for low-cost but sweet deals. He has 3 years on contract at a total of $39M. Doable for SF. Could some combo like Solano, Canario and Hjelle tempt them more than the other offers they will receive?

    • Flavor said, on November 23, 2020 at 7:24 pm

No. Snell would command 2/3 blue chip guys. The guys you listed are shit compared to that. EVERY TEAM WANTS BLAKE SNELL.

  14. Flavor said, on November 23, 2020 at 7:23 pm

Carson has now had his first shot. Took it like a man, didn’t flinch or shit. Again, there are not enough kudos I can give to the GREAT DJLoo for walking me through all this. I could have just skipped the vet and talked to him. Would still have a phone that way, too.

    • Bozo said, on November 23, 2020 at 8:01 pm

Good news. Who knows, your phone may still turn up as well.

    Re: BFF’s phone;

In the ’80s when I was a law student at Hastings and clerked for a firm in the Pyramid, I was tasked to file an appellate brief at the Supreme Court on McAllister, then drive down to San Jose and file it there in the office of the district court of appeal. In those days, no electronic filing. Last day of the filing period, of course. I was hurrying so much that after I filed the copies with the Supreme Court, I ran out to my car, and got my keys and jumped in and fired down the street, realizing about 1/4 mile down that I’d left my briefcase with the other brief copies on the roof of the car. I screeched to stop, got out, saw that my briefcase was gone, and whipped a U to go back to look. Luckily, the briefcase had fallen off just after the parking space, and had not gotten run over. Briefs were not destroyed, not even hurt, they were in a box. Made the filing with 1/2 hour to spare, and nearly a heart attack. Phew! We won the appeal, some bullshit real estate contract thing. I actually researched and wrote about 90% of the brief, my first appellate brief, though my older lawyer mentor streamlined and focused it certainly to some degree…

I once heard that all the stuff our astronauts left behind on the moon 50 years ago is still there in the exact same place, including footprints. Can that be true?

      • zumiee said, on November 24, 2020 at 12:12 am

Yes. The moon, with no atmosphere, is just a big ball floating through the vacuum of space.
The plastic U.S. flag they put there will be bleached white by the sun by now, though.

  16. djloo27 said, on November 23, 2020 at 8:40 pm

    Excellent, Flavor. It’s a cinch, ain’t it?
If you do it right, Carson won’t feel a thing and won’t try to run away when he sees it coming.
Just measure carefully and get the bottle right back in the fridge before you get distracted…

    Great story Snarkk!!

Norm MacDonald had a sit-com for three seasons. Who knew? I watched the first episode on YouTube. It was funny. The show took advantage of MacDonald’s comic style well.
