NFL!

Today has got a fair amount on intrigue to it. Well, the Denver game does anyway. We thought Taysom Hill was a stretch last week. Now we got some wide receiver snatched off the practice squad starting under center for the Broncos.

It would be SO AWESOME if the Niners played a couple of games at Kezar. Right?

kezar (only there once to see Shrine Game)…one of the features old guys used to talk about was how close fans were to where players had to come onto and leave the field to get to locker rooms…and abuse they used to hear from disgruntled fanbase.

The County order barring practices and games also applies to local b-ball teams. Cards are to host 4 games, and the women too. Kicker here is that women’s coach VanDerveer is 4 Ws away from taking over top career spot from the late Pat Summit of Tennessee.

Abuse of course not limited just to verbal variety.

Posted pics on the last thread.

At some point they built a chain-link fence around the field to keep fans from rushing the field. They also built chain-link tunnels to the locker rooms to keep the flying bottles from hitting the players.

John Brodie famously said he never took his helmet off till he got into the locker room.

Jose St. football has both of final 2 league games at home too. currently tied for first at 4-0 with Boise, as Hawaii, their next opponent, beat previously unbeaten Nevada last night. Nevada is scheduled for final home game, and team with best highest winning pct. in league would also get to host title game vs. 2nd place team.

County restrictions (I believe) include mandatory 14 day quarantines for any team traveling more than 150 miles to play locally, as of Monday. Because Niners are coming back from LA tonite, they’d be exempt.

  4. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 8:53 am

Brodie was smart he even told the rookies never take your helmet off , the supposed fans hurl beer bottles at you and that’s even when we first come out of the tunnel!!!

The best thing about the Broncos starting a guy Hinton? who last threw a football at Vanderbilt 2 years ago is that I picked up New Orleans Saints Defense in Fantasy his week🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 should get a lot of interceptions & fumbles in this crazy game!

    • Winder said, on November 29, 2020 at 9:01 am

Since I don’t have any money teams. I am not going to reset my teams. Even if one or two don’t show I hope the others make up for it. Tired of dumping players for a 1 week replace.

    • Winder said, on November 29, 2020 at 9:04 am

It always amazed me how many fans had flasks at Kezar. The whole place was on some serious alcohol.
willedav- i liked going to the shriners game too. By the time they played it the field was usually a mess. Made for some fun football.

  5. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 9:21 am

Darth Vader actor David Prowse is dead at 85…

Speaking of a wiped out Kezar field I went there in 1973 to see Led Zeppelin with the Tubes first show it was one helluva great show!

    • unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 9:30 am

One of my first concerts was SNACK sunday at Kezar in 1975. Brodie showed up for that, as well as Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Graham Central Station, and a bunch of other bands. being 14 I didn’t really know the importance of that until later. Both the Dead and Dylan were on breaks from touring around that time and there was talk the Dead wouldn’t tour any more.

Interested to see what the Raiders do. Coming off an emotional loss to a hated division rival, they have a fairly easy opponent at home in the Atlanta Falcons. These are the types of games they usually blow chunks and lose.

    • willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 10:35 am

falcons D (!) all over them so far, stopped first drive on 4th an 1, strip sack of Carr on second, force punt on third. Problem is ATL has 1 first down in 3 possessions. Ryan under lot of heat, no running game either.

      • willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 10:36 am

receiver dropped sure TD had DB beat in end zone.

      • unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:00 am

Game is in Atl. My mistake.

I lived at Carl and Willard, a couple blocks up from Kezar for years (80s). Went to that final weekend before the wrecking ball took the old stadium down. I ended up with a tee shirt from that day but my buddy yanked up some of a wood bench seat. He died last year and I don’t know what happened to that old piece of wood, someone probably just tossed it out.
Wasn’t much parking back when I lived there on any given day, can’t even imagine the neighborhood parking with a Niner game going on.

  8. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 10:59 am

Lived at Cole and Waller for about 8 months in the late 80s as well. Right next to some comedy club where I saw (waaaay before this) the voice of Sponge Bob, Tom Kenny. Funny guy. His gig was all about wanting to be a cartoon character.

    • Bozo said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:19 am

The Other Cafe? I lived up at Carl and Grattan for a year or so. Did you ever go to the liquor store called Val de Cole, at Carl and Cole? Bruce there was always pretty awesome to me.

  9. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:27 am

whoa TD Falcons, as Ryan gets planted but completes pass. 13-3 ATL.

  10. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:31 am

Leave it to the Raiders to allow that freaking drive to continue after a questionable roughing the field goal kicker!
And what’s the Deal with that kicker Koo wearing hot pants?Cant believe the NFL allows that..

  11. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:37 am

Yeah, Other Cafe? That sounds right. There were a ton of comedy clubs back then. Saw Robin Williams once at the Holy City zoo when I got back from Colo around 87. The weirdest venue in SF. From what I remember, it was about 10′ wide and 175′ long.

As far as liquor stores go, probably. Don’t recall Bruce.

Tha Raiders have roughed the kicker on a missed FG. Got a dumb illegal use of hands on an interception, and have stupided their way to a 13-3 deficit.

    • Bozo said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:18 pm

Yeah, my friend Alicia used to work the door at the Other. Good times, it turned into a crepe place some years back, not sure if it still is or what it is now.

  12. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:40 am

    Carr fumbles again. Doh!

  13. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:41 am

Boom another strip sack fumble recovery by Falcons as #91 smashed Carr to ground. yaha

  14. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:43 am

Raiders have 6 yds rushing on Jacobs 4 carries so far too as first half about to end.

  15. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:48 am

roughing passer, jeez Raiders D line guy takes 2 strides into Ryan after ball is thrown. wow

  16. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:51 am

Kat is right–short pants and high socks on kicker…must be K-Pop thing.

  17. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 11:56 am

Tha Raiders are hell-bent on giving this one away.

  18. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 12:23 pm

So much for Gruden firing up the troops at halftime.Carr just sucks 2 fumbles and a pick 6 will not get this done.

  19. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:24 pm

Hah! Niners taketh away. Niners giveth back.

    Cards lost anyway.

  20. zumiee said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:29 pm

The Raiders were roadkill today, so they get the Roadkill theme music:

  21. Bozo said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:33 pm

Niners taking it in, TY Flav for the bilasport heads up.

  22. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:33 pm

Unc sure called this one at 10:06. 43-6, to ATL? wow

  23. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:34 pm

    Good to have Mostert back.

    • willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:37 pm

Sherman too! just think the experience he brings in helps, like coach out there on field for his DB buddies.
Goff is either OK or the shits when he plays SF.

  24. Bozo said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:36 pm

    Int.

  25. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 1:41 pm

And Wilson flings the ball away. Jesus.

  26. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:01 pm

Gawd, Mullens is painful to watch.

    • willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:07 pm

yes. dumb delay penalty then misses open TE that could have had first down. Too inaccurate, especially under some pressure.

  27. Flavor said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:05 pm

did you see the 5th at DM WillieD? Prat on the turf. He saved ground got thru on the rail, exploded in the stretch. That’s what good jockeys do. Prat understands the importance of saving ground AND he knows that most turf races are won in the last 1/4 of the race.

    • willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:08 pm

mm no. He’s having good day couple early Ws.

  28. Macdog said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:08 pm

Congrats to anyone with Tyreek Hill on their fantasy team.

    • alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:56 pm

Yeah no shit Mac wish I had him 41 points so far as he is just shredding the Buc’s secondary!!

  29. mrsprtdude said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:35 pm

Jimmy G isn’t perfect, but no one better out there right now. Watching the backups play is painful!

  30. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:40 pm

#6 at DM was good race, #3 Mario Gutierrez just edged #6 Abel Cedillo by nose.
#7 and #9 both stakes races to end meet. I’ll miss it.
    Flav, question:
$100 K stakes race, how is purse $$ spread out—how many horses owners get something? Plus, how much trickle down is there for trainer and rider?

  31. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:47 pm

    Kinlaw with the pick 6!!

  32. Bozo said, on November 29, 2020 at 2:48 pm

    Rumbles into the end zone.

  33. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 3:07 pm

Juan Hernandez wins on turf again in race 7, angling horse out past rail and wins with #4 Beer Can Man at 19-1.

  34. Bozo said, on November 29, 2020 at 3:24 pm

    Oh shit,

  35. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 3:24 pm

Mahomes to Hill again for another score, 27-10 KC.
Mahomes with 7 minutes to go in 3Q has 412 yds passing. Brady 169.

  36. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 3:27 pm

Meanwhile the 49ers are giving the game away

  37. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 3:34 pm

    Tyreek Hill 12 catches 261 receiving yards 3 TD’s
for 56.1 pts unbelievable but true! What a fantasy day!!
    And he’s still not done..

  38. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 3:35 pm

    49ers falling apart 😩

  39. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 3:42 pm

Jesus. They need to fix their O line in a big way. Any QB would be getting killed behind this line.

    • alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:04 pm

Hard to figure this OL Chuck. They dominant for a lot of the game running the ball , then that’s starts to leak oil, and for sure they’re not a pass blocking team which makes Mullens run for his life..

  40. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 3:57 pm

Nice drive but those last 3 call by Shanny were crap. We run up the middle on 1st down 99% of the time.

  41. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:00 pm

Rams stop running and give the ball back. Strange.

  42. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:01 pm

We of course run on 1st down. Every. Fucking. TIme.

  43. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:05 pm

That’s a big play by Deebo!!

  44. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:07 pm

Hey they passed on 1st down Chuck 😂
Just get a chance for a Gould FG now pretty please 🙏

  45. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:17 pm

    Winner Winner SOLID GOULD!!!

  46. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:17 pm

Whaddaya know. Niners win!! Ugly as fuck but a win.

    • willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:18 pm

extra 5 yds for offside didn’t hurt. what a dumb play.

      • unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:20 pm

Yup. Did the long snapper move his thumb? Buccos on the comeback trail. 27-24 Chefs. Great googly moogly.

  47. zumiee said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:20 pm

Good drive by the Niners at the end. The fullback getting the huge first down was one of the great plays of the game.

  48. Macdog said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:20 pm

Maybe the Niners should play their home games in Jersey, they’re 2-0 in the Meadowlands.

    • willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:26 pm

Another win for NYGs too. What’s up with Jones injury?

      • Macdog said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:29 pm

Hammy, not sure how severe yet.

  49. alleykat69 said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:23 pm

I don’t know Mac that Meadowlands field has been murder for them with injuries..

    • Macdog said, on November 29, 2020 at 4:25 pm

      Ooops, forgot about that.

  50. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 5:10 pm

The NFL really needs to look at those fake turf fields. Too many outdoor stadiums (like 6) have that shit, and it should be outlawed. Look at all the non-contact lower leg injuries caused by those fields this year that just don’t have any give. 2 INDOOR stadiums (AZ and LV) have grass fields for fuck’s sake.

  51. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 5:11 pm

In the raider game, someone stopped and to plant, and his knee just twisted sideways and gave way as his foot stuck on the turf. Much like Bosa’s injury that was not really doe to contact.

  52. zumiee said, on November 29, 2020 at 7:27 pm

The great quarterbacks are dominating the NFL this season. I’m sure it happens every season, but seems more extreme this season, to me.

  53. willedav said, on November 29, 2020 at 7:33 pm

Goff had worse QB rating than Mullens, 53 vs. 77. yikes

  54. unca_chuck said, on November 29, 2020 at 7:53 pm

The 2nd pick was from pressure. The 1st one was just a shit pass. Mullens had the excuse of his being tipped.
