Niners/Cowboys SHOWDOWN!
That was a heck of a game last night and anytime I get to watch Cleveland lose at something it’s good times. Does anyone know who the Niners are starting at QB this week? Are we going to see Beat Hard bravely stand like a statue in the pocket until someone decapitates him? Or is it going to be the lazy gaze of Mully who stares hypnotically into coverage only to throw it to someone not wearing a Niners jersey?
Meanwhile, over at fangraphs they have the D Szymborski Zips projections for Giants. Duggar who is listed among top 5 OFs btw (no Ruf) slash line .234/.296/.358 for .654 OPS.
But, the comp player is Cesar Geronimo from Red Machine! iirc he did have at least one breakout year when he hit really well for average.
where’s Jaylin Davis ranked? lqtm….
worse, slightly. .221/.279/.370. Giants need to find a team interested in him, take who they can get and give him a chance somewhere else.
Geronimo, from the DR, came to Reds in the Joe Morgan/Jack Billingham deal with Stros as a throw in for Lee May and Tommy Helms in 1971 winter.
74 and 76 he had .739 and .795 OPS seasons but mostly known for superior D. 10 seasons with Reds he hit .261 with .701 OPS and then got dealt away in 81.
Warriors and kIngs on tonite, interested to get look at Kings, who I hope can stay healthy and improve for Walton. See how GS guards not named Curry fare. Saw Mannion went 0-5 in previous game–G league bound.
Did see Utah-Phoenix last night, and Utah is loaded with backcourt shooters plus Gobert and D Favors.
Suns will be better too with C Paul at point and Ayton will prosper with Paul around to feed him on pick and roll.
Lotta people on twitter were touting the mannion pick. But I stood tall and said the great willieD said “nay!* To that pick. Interested to see how this one plays out
As far as SF OFers go, the Giants have been moving Ramos up the ladder quickly. I imagine he’ll get an invite this year and if he does well in ST, he may be in the mix for CF early on in 2021.
Is Ramos a centerfielder? For some reason, I have it in my head that he is a corner guy.
Cesar Geronimo is a great comp for Duggar. Those Reds teams were so loaded with bats they could afford a light hitting glove guy in CF. Us? Not so much. Totally forgot about Dubon yesterday in my post. I mostly listened last year, so really didn’t catch much of his act. How optimistic are we that he can be a decent player?
NBA? No thanks.
and PLEASE, no posts about the massive Chelsea/Wolves tilt going down right now. I’m recording. I know that will be hard for you guys, but I appreciate the restraint.
Twain Harte sounds like a great little spot. I’ve never been, but you guys paint a pretty picture.
Yeah Dog, Ramos is projected as a corner guy, I believe his body frame is too thick to be a centerfielder.
I still think and I believe (even if I’m losing Flap support) that Jaylin Davis could be special giving the proper chance and a full year under these new young hitting instructors/coaches who really did a fantastic job getting the old core to buy in and produce.I just can’t see why with the great numbers Davis put up in AAA that it can transcend up in the bigs.He has all the exciting tools you need, speed, arm, defense, just need the power tool to kick in.Covid year sure didn’t help his cause along with every other prospect as well, just making it a wasted year for all minor leaguers.Davis has to be in the mix on an aging outfield. And I just bet if they dump him he becomes a star for another organization..
Don’t know where they had him play at the alt site last year but in 2019 he played center field for both Richmond and San Jose.
Ramos has played predominantly at CF for most of his career.
Dubon = Darren Lewis?
Maybe?
high end of over/under. Missed cutoff men and took some funky routes, still learning position though.
I thought Dubon improved over the season. Toward the end, there was one memorable play where Dick (I think) came thundering, like a locomotive out of control, toward a deep drive to LCF that should’ve been his, but that he clearly wasn’t going to be able to handle. Dubon sped smoothly to the ball, yelled at Dick to take a side track, and made the play look easy. It really wasn’t. IIRC.
Oh the fun and innocent days of growing up and doing family treks to places like Twain Harte!! Yeah Flavor those were exciting times for me and looks like for you as well..The lake hasn’t changed a whole lot, I remember still seeing that swim platform/sunbathing it might be positioned different now but still people swim up to it.You must of remembered the snack bar area for food and drinks and candy,no kid would pass that up?
absolutely! And the big assed white rock everyone sunbathed on. Is that still there?
Oh yeah that big ass white rock 🪨 will always be there! Fits in perfectly with the surroundings..
Twain Harte and Pinecrest lake campgrounds will always be the “Jewels of the Central Sierras a truly Four Season Resort Community!”
Also in the middle 60’s on Friday and Saturday nights they used to pull out a jukebox in back of the little stores parking lot. True dance party style. That was where the girls were.
Good renews and bad via Zips. Bad first: Longoria. Most Flappers could have told them that. If some team has an up and coming 3B prospect and looks to replace their still viable vet, maybe SF could do a vet for vet switch and kick in half his 2 year salary into a deal. Some orgs are so hurting financially, yet cannot project a major run for the roses, that they might just bite on such a deal.
Stix it’s just like fishing, you can setup 2 poles now from shore with a full buffet of goodies, night crawlers, salmon eggs, powerbait, assortment of cheeses/stink gels, piece of marshmallow and eggs, but if the fish aren’t biting it does no good.Like Longo’s contract, no other orq is stupid enough to bite on it..
Oops. Forgot the good news. Checking in on all the stats, Zips projects Logan Webb to do a good uptick this season to maybe even become a viable middle of the rotation starter…More bad news, though, MLBTR, quoting an AL figure, does not expect the season to begin until May as the shots might not be available till after February for MLB players.
Stix how bout an update on the trip to your house?
The Niners are starting The Waterboy at QB this week…
Jeez for an elite bball player this dude got FAT. This is the equivalent of The Panda….
Boy that’s for sure. He’s really Hardening his arteries..
lulz…
Kings game was fun. Extended garbage time 4th quarter, buzzer beating 3 Kyle guy wins it. Kings have some added depth, hope it works out for them.
