A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Fixing The Pitching

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 17, 2020

Ok, it seems we are back on the beam and I CAN post something today…….

Zaidi saying “there’s room to add one more SP free agent.”

I should hope so. Our rotation looks significantly underwhelming.

A aged Cueto, followed by Gausman and DeSclafani? Then who? Webb? The TJ’d Beede?

Our starting pitching is terrible……..

I see potential for a Quality Start Over/Under bet regarding my boy Black Shoes Beede…..

yes, let’s fire that one up after we see if he’s healthy enough to do something other than his wife

someone on twitter started a thread about the worst ballpark food you’ve ever gotten. That gave me a chance to dust off this photo from ten years ago……..

That’s some serious indigestion if u ask me.
Similar to the carcass Turkey in Christmas Vacation..

Caleb Baragar needs to start stretching that arm out.

  5. willedav said, on December 17, 2020 at 9:19 am

How many runs pitching will allow also factors in to how many good field/can’t hit guys like Duggar SF can afford to keep.

    • Bozo said, on December 17, 2020 at 9:40 am

Perhaps the Grave Dugger will be new and improved?

  6. Flavor said, on December 17, 2020 at 9:49 am

we;re gonna need Grave Duggar out there on the daily saving runs for that wobegotten group

    • willedav said, on December 17, 2020 at 10:30 am

mm fair point. And someone has to hit 8th though that will be harder with pitcher batting 9th.

Zman saying there’s room to add another SP?
That builds little confidence in me when he keeps picking up washed up over 30 players!
I had more confidence as a kid getting the yellow/with red stripes bubblegum that looked liked Saturn for a penny but got you a large candy bar (a 10 cent value) once u turned it back in.(Clean health not back an issue back then, can u imagine today putting those same winning Saturn balls back in the machine to be used over and over in a covid world?)

  8. Winder said, on December 17, 2020 at 10:45 am

There was some pretty good penny candy but no tellin how many kids touched that stuff before you did.

    • willedav said, on December 17, 2020 at 11:04 am

In those days adults more worried about kids watching (and emulating) Moe Howard.

    Hank’s new gig. (A Giants player re-tweeted this. Otherwise, . . .) He ain’t no Terhune.

Now that I don’t have to write game stories anymore I’m thrilled the #sfgiants signed DeSclafani, and I encourage them to hire Saltalamacchia as a coach and add Rzepczynski to the bullpen. If Gwosdz is interested, too, come on down!

    • Flavor said, on December 17, 2020 at 12:44 pm

He ain’t no terhune that is good!

Straily lol…we have the pieces to get Snell and Bauer is the White Whale (THE perfect nickname!!!)

  11. sandog said, on December 17, 2020 at 2:14 pm

    Those photos are gold Bozo!
Duggar’s Dungeon out by the Kale Garden would be awesome!!!
Can our team of hitting coaches get GraveDuggar to .260?
With everything else he brings to the table, we don’t need a ton from his bat.

    • Flavor said, on December 17, 2020 at 2:56 pm

I like the alliteration but how bout we just call it “The Grave Yard”—where balls go to die (in his glove). That’s prolly too much I’ll work on tightening that up some. But it could be some mined gold pretty soon

      • sandog said, on December 17, 2020 at 3:15 pm

That’s pretty good, I gotta admit. I was just riffing off “Digger’s Dungeon,” which was another pic I could see from Bozo.
By the way, Loo sent me an amazing treasure trove of Giants gear and other memorabilia a while back, including a Gravedigger model that I have right here in my office on display. More on this later.

      • Bozo said, on December 17, 2020 at 4:29 pm

The Grave Yard makes a shit load of sense, but Kuip saying “Lock that ball up, It’s headed to the Dungeon” would sound pretty cool.
        diggers

      • Flavor said, on December 17, 2020 at 4:59 pm

what is a grave digger model?

  12. willedav said, on December 17, 2020 at 3:26 pm

maybe I’d had a glorified image of DLew as a Giant but offensive numbers not near as good on second thought.
5+ year career as a Giant slash line .249/.318/.320. couple better years than that but high was .697 OPS, low being under .600 and couple more right at .600..Couple good hitters around him OF, obviously.
Stole 138 bags but caught 50 times, borderline where it was profitable or not.

He was a fightin hydrant wasn’t he? Santangelo and Benard as well?

      I’m watching Battlebots…

      • willedav said, on December 17, 2020 at 6:03 pm

groin pull, Loo untouched as he was rolling toward end zone.
Meanwhile Mariota just threw beauty of TD pass to Waller.

      • Macdog said, on December 17, 2020 at 6:05 pm

Looked like a groin injury. Mariota comes in and throws a TD pass.

      • willedav said, on December 17, 2020 at 6:05 pm

went straight to locker room too. Would be funny if LV suddenly went off in last 3 games with Mariota who just engineered TD drive first time out there.

  16. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on December 17, 2020 at 6:27 pm

Groin ouchies are not fun. I’ve had it chronically for several years. In fact, just yesterday I finally went in for an MRI. They don’t really know what to do about it so they put me on anti-inflammatories for now. By the way, wanna know what an MRI costs here? 2.2 million VNmese dong. That’s about 100 bucks, no insurance necessary. And results in one hour. It’s one thing I love about living over here….

    • Flavor said, on December 17, 2020 at 7:11 pm

2.2 mil dong for 1 dong.

      • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on December 17, 2020 at 7:19 pm

Hmm, actually, that is about the high end of the going rate for a couple of hours of *massage*…. so….

  17. willedav said, on December 17, 2020 at 7:40 pm

Hard to believe.Raiders have guy at TE wearing 87, and a DB wearing 42.

  18. Macdog said, on December 17, 2020 at 7:46 pm

Mariota leaps into the end zone for another TD!

    • willedav said, on December 17, 2020 at 8:09 pm

Thought they had him too that was helluva play.

  19. alleykat69 said, on December 17, 2020 at 9:17 pm

And end the end the Raiders choke again on a bomb in OT and a Herbert sneak. At 7-7 it’s there usual scenario needing to win out and getting help.In otherwise they are done.

  20. sandog said, on December 17, 2020 at 9:50 pm

I don’t remember Darren Lewis that fondly. A million ground outs to second base are my main memory of him. I was never much of a fan.

  21. willedav said, on December 18, 2020 at 7:09 am

MLBTR story on Red Sox mentions them being high on KIm for their middle IF, but that strong in house option for 2b would be…Christian Arroyo. Hit .240 with 3 HRs in 50 ABs, .740 OPS for Sox, about 100 points higher than his career numbers.
#1 draft pick by Giants 2013, for whom he hit .192 with OPS under .600. yikes
