A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

2020 Is Almost Over

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 24, 2020

Christmas eve morn. I’ve got my coffee and my laptop. Carson is sleeping next to me freshly pumped up with his morning insulin dose of 5 units. He looks so peaceful you’d hardly know anything was wrong with him.

This year…..I don’t have to tell you about this year. Most Americans are enduring this holiday season, not celebrating it. But I just looked at some travel info and the flight traffic looks about normal for this time of year. So stupid. I wish I was in Reno right now playing poker and getting ready for a great day of racing at Santa Anita on Saturday. Alas, that’s not going to happen because I’m not a selfish idiot unlike so many of my fellow countrymen.

But there are lights at the end of the tunnel, my friends. The vaccine. The promise of a new administration. Baseball, at some point…..

I couldn’t be any more thankful for getting through this year relatively unscathed. Yes, lots of bad things happened on a micro and macro level. And this is going to be a tough Winter. But we’re all still alive and my general positive and hopeful attitude remains in tact.

Hang in there. I can’t say it’s going to be all right because I have no idea what’s going to happen or what situation you’re in personally. One thing I do know is that Flappers stand together and stay together. That has been proven unequivocally over the years.

Go Giants and Merry Christmas…….

    Jesus Christ.

the end of that Kings game was incredible. Barnes has a breakaway to win the game on a dunk but Barton gets back and makes a game saving epic block! Only to have the trailing Hield tip it in for the win. Hield running off the court straight to the locker room was pretty rad, too

Hey Loo–Alec Burks with 22 off bench for Bricks last night, albeit in losing effort. Bet Kerr would love to have him back right now.

Flav, air travel is still down 70-80%; Bay Area at SFO Oaktown SJ Mineta almost empty with I heard 5 people in TSA lines. Btw I went into town where i used to work earlier this week mid afternoon—used to have to walk 15 minutes because parking was impossible and traffic was nightmare on main drag where store is located. Not now–parked 5 minutes away, lot near entirely empty where there used to be valets, and street clear of traffic for blocks. It was sunny and maybe 60 out to so it wasn’t weather, lol.

I wonder if that 8s just bat area travel? The tweet I posted above says differently

      • willedav said, on December 24, 2020 at 8:58 am

Numbers said record for Pandemic, i.e. this year since March. Pretty sure vs. last year air travel down significantly even now.

    Better days ahead.

“what (beside Injuries) can bring Dodgers back to the pack a little?”
I think you have to have strong pitching to handle the LH power guys Seager Muncy Bellinger. Betts is good hitter regardless. Turner is older and near done, Pollock Taylor Kike and the Cs not near as dangerous.

Archie Bunker would have a field day with that last line…

yeah. no way on pc to put in proper accent mark for mr. enrique hernandez.
Read Padres in on Yu darvish…they aren’t LA yet but beginning to close much ground.

And “Pollock” was a constant on AITF…

Do the Giants even have a LH SP? yikes

  8. alleykat69 said, on December 24, 2020 at 11:15 am

They have the LH relievers that’s for sure,Garcia,Peralta,Selman, and Barager.
But yeah they need a lefty are 2 to start to combat a heavy lefty dominant Dodgers team. I thought I heard they might want to still bring back Tyler Anderson, big deal, they need to do better than that..

re: air travel, found this in Chron yesterday. As to the million that went through TSA checkpoints for last 3 days of weekend, “…that represents less than half of the passenger traffic seen last year, when more than 2 million people across the country flew every day from mid to late December.”
“SF Intl. Airport…reported a 75% drop in Thanksgiving passenger traffic over the same time last year. In December passenger traffic is down 80% compared to the same time in 2019…”
which is good in lot of ways, unless you are in hospitality, tourism or any part related to travel biz.

“trailing Hield tip it in for the win. Hield running off the court straight to the locker room was pretty rad, too”

Yeah, very exciting ending, and Hield sprinting off with the team following him was very cool. Coach Walton stayed on the court a while to make sure the replay wouldn’t overturn the tip.”

    • zumiee said, on December 24, 2020 at 12:57 pm

Oops, added an unnecessary quotation mark at the end.

    • Flavor said, on December 24, 2020 at 1:04 pm

if Hield doesn’t tip that in that goes down as one of the all time blocks in Denver history.

Cup of coffee, a laptop, and cats. That’s pretty much how I start every morning. Hope everyone here has a very merry and safe Christmas.

“very popular in 90s, from Zero Halliburton. They were US made, in Utah…and years later customers used to look at you funny and say, “uh not those oil guys, right?””

Yeah, the Haliburton name just….stands out.

    • zumiee said, on December 24, 2020 at 1:00 pm

Haliburton had a nice game for the Kings. His first NBA game, and he did OK overall.

‘Twas the night before Christmas when all through the blog
Not a Flapper was stirring, not even Sandawg.

The Flappers were waiting with each passing hour
In hopes that the Giants would sign Trevor Bauer.

    Merry Christmas to all!

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on December 25, 2020 at 1:25 am

      Excellent…
