I was going to just have yesterday be the Merry Christmas Flap Nation post but goddamn it it’s Christmas MORNING and I can’t just leave it hanging. We did our Christmas last night. Katie came over with her boyfriend and we ate a wonderful meal of Filet Mignon, mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus in between 2 high powered heating lamps. It actually worked, it felt like camping which I typical loath but last night was fun.

I don’t know about you guys but I might have a wee too many NBA draftkings line ups going today.

But what the hell right? I get basketball and a football game, all day. Who knows this could be the greatest day ever. (I tell myself this every day and maybe one day it will come true).

MERRY CHRISTMAS FLAP MOTHERFUCKING NATION!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Merry Christmas to you. too!
The Flap is truly a gift that keeps giving, to use that old cliche. But it’s really true.
Thank you for this place over the years.

Awesome Flav. Yes best wishes to all for good Holiday and a much Happier New Year 2021.

wow my boys from Jose St. are in middle of shitstorm from Santa Clara County.

they played for league title last Saturday Dec. 19 and beat Boise St. in Vegas. Scheduled to play Bowl Game in Tucson AZ Dec. 31. They came home (um crux of the biscuit as it were) and plan to leave for AZ to meet bowl event protocol and to practice, which they can’t do here, Sunday 27th.
Which runs afoul of County 10 day quarantine rules demanded of all who arrive here from farther than150 miles away. “With a few exceptions (none of which are applicable to college sports).”

Team says players were tested upon arrival and will be tested Saturday before plane leaves.
County “strongly discourages all non essential travel’ and “would use all legal remedies to prevent violations and punish offenders.” hmmnn

Merry Christmas everyone. I am so thrilled for San Jose St. Being a life long Stanford fan I can still remember the battles between Stanford(Elway) and San Jose St.(Elway’s dad). I was not an Elway fan, I always thought he was more of a hotdog than a team player. Stanford never won anything with him.

cool pic. Always liked this dude for some unknown reason.

The A’s were a great team in the early 70’s and Rudi was a big part of it.

Nice find Loo! Really dug Joe Rudi and the whole A’s team during their 70’s dynasty run.If it wasn’t for pocket change Charles Finley breaking them up along with dumping Duck Williams as well this team could of easily won more World Series titles…

great pic/great player. Notice extreme closed stance too. Watched a game or two of all 3 WS wins by A’s as televised during time of no baseball this year. Others had closed stances too and today you see so little of that today. Hitters start more open and then dive front foot in toward plate.

Merry Christmas everybody-I hope you all can spend time with at least some of those you care about and are as well as can be.
    Also, happy birthday to Rickey.

    • djloo27 said, on December 25, 2020 at 8:58 am

He was built like a great RB…

      • dirtnrocksnomo said, on December 25, 2020 at 9:09 am

Rickey was an All American RB in high school. In one of those NBC Sports retrospectives Dave Stewart talks about Rickey being an awesome high school athlete. There was so much talent coming out of the Bay Area back then.

Still, really. Marshawn played at Oakland Tech, too. Many others recently emerging here.

Gotta admit, watching couple hours last night of Simpsons marathon “Moe the Merrier” was great. show and the graphics are hilarious…and it’s right at start of all sports networks on FXX as I’m scrolling around.

Merry Christmas one and all!! Low key Xmas to the hilt this year. Gonna have a big zoom meeting with as many family members as I can figure out their emails. Daughter #1 came over last night, son will come over later today after she leaves due to her health issues.

Slow cooking and smoking a brisket today. Mashed potatoes and all kinds of good stuff. Just a matter of deciding when to start drinking.

Great couple of threads, Flav! This has been a very tough year but my immediate family has gotten through this unscathed, thankfully.

Much to be happy about despite the insanity. Stay safe, Flap Nation!!!

Merry xmas, everyone. I’m less bah humbug this year than usual. Seems to be going around. (Nice stanza from MacD last night.) Older son came by yesterday with some high-end bourbon; younger is slaving away in grad school — he had a big project due TODAY. Three-meat chili for dinner tonight: pound and half cubed of dorper lamb and sirloin steak, seared and seasoned; niman ranch pork sausage, too. Of course, the chili sauce is the most important part. Stay warm.

This guy’s twitter feed took a nosedive earlier in the year after some buzzkillers gave him copyright trouble, but he’s offered a few good, if trivial, gifts for the holidays. Here’s one:

Merry Christmas to all the Flapperonis. Thanks to Flav for keeping this site as a comfy living-room for Giants fans everywhere.

Big fete here at the sister’s place last evening, featuring prime-rib and a mass of sides and fixings. A bit of brandy before dinner. Presents presented afterwards. Niece and hubby have two young-uns and they were the toast of the evening. At 2.5 yrs. Tove is a total whirlwind, a mile-a-minute entertainer, a definite Alpha personality and with a vocabulary somewhere between 700 and a thousand words. Henrik, at a bit over 7 months is Mr. Chubbins. Built like a lineman, with hints of a sumo wrestler, he’s the jolliest infant I’ve ever seen. He was totally fascinated with the ceiling fan.

So will he become a total fan like his uncle Niclaus? Time will tell. Nic (aka Scoreboard Junior after his namesake grandfather Claus) can tell you anything you wanna know about some five or six sports, games, players, strategies, everything.

Nine degrees Fahrenheit at 12:25 CDT. Bright and sunny, with about 2″ of brightener on the ground. Just a few miles to the north, the 12-22-23 snowfall was much, much heavier. Prior to that we had about nine inches around the 19th of October and then a nice Indian summer for most of November and a mild, though usually grey December. So it took till the official second day of winter to give Manysnowta a traditional White Christmas.

M Chris’s playing better pleasant surprise. Tough game today but Chicago easier match up.

    • willedav said, on December 25, 2020 at 12:14 pm

As he airballs a 3 lol. GS will have to make more 3s to hang, from someone. Minutes are there if one of them can hit them.

  13. unca_chuck said, on December 25, 2020 at 12:36 pm

Waiting for my son to come over to watch the Dubs, so radio silence for me.

  14. willedav said, on December 25, 2020 at 12:42 pm

Holy shit. Wiseman dunking and knocking down 3s. Paschanll is awful at both ends. Doesn’t look like he can guard a telephone pole.

SF legend K C Jones dead at 88. He and Bill Russell dominated at USF, Olympics, then for Celts as player and later coach.

    • Macdog said, on December 25, 2020 at 1:11 pm

Bullets coach when they got swept by the Warriors in ’75.

      • willedav said, on December 25, 2020 at 1:33 pm

Yes. 2 rings as Celts coach, one each as assistant for Celts and Lakers, plus 8 more be as player for Boston.

    • zumiee said, on December 25, 2020 at 2:32 pm

As a team, the Warriors made 10 out of 45 3-point attempts. But, by all means, keep shooting those 3s.

      • willedav said, on December 25, 2020 at 3:00 pm

I hear you Zum. Oubre and others could easily take us some of the slack and reset the feet from little closer, but that’s apparently a bad analytic look. Why a missed 3 is better than a [potential made 2 that has lot better chance of going in if shooter is closer is beyond me. If a player is missing shots at high pct from a particular spot on the floor then hello–find another spot, eh?

      • djloo27 said, on December 25, 2020 at 3:24 pm

There’s a theory that a missed 3 yields a longer rebound and the offensive team has a better crack at it.
Is there a stat on that?
Mathematically, you get the same amount of points shooting .333 from 3 as shooting .500 from 2.
That’s assuming the same number of shots from each (like 2 for 6 vs. 3 for 6)…

    • willedav said, on December 25, 2020 at 2:38 pm

well one of them at least got 6 hoops, and it wasn’t Oubre. I can see how he (Wiggins) can be a fit and help score when Kerr decides Curry has to sit for 5 plus minutes in second quarter of every game. Because other than Wiseman no one else in Warrior was doing much scoring in that situation.

Steph 2-10 from 3–that happens they ain’t beating anyone. Nico sighting? I mean they lost by 35, when else might he see the floor outside of Santa Cruz?

  18. mrsprtdude said, on December 25, 2020 at 4:05 pm

Steph really off. Some of his looks were open and missed badly.

LOVE him but can you not jog backwards like you made the shot when the rebound comes right back to where you were because shot was badly short? That shocked me more than his stats because as an elite shooter he seemed to be right about when his shots were going in or not, and now it doesn’t seem like he knows at all:(

    Merry Christmas Flappers!!!
