A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

More Football

Another NFL Sunday, another team without a core group of players. This week it’s Cleveland without all their WR’s. Hooper absolutely can play like a wide receiver and they’ll probably use Hunt out there, too. And they’re playing the Jets so a Flapper could suit up in the slot and probably snare a few catches from Baker.

I haven’t checked the news yet. These days I always open it up with at least one eye covered…..

Great day of racing Flav, as the Cal jockeys took every single race. Smith had 2 along with juan hernandez and R. Gonzalez who won LaBrea with 20-1 longshot. Also Prat and Rispoli Mario Gutierrez D. Van dyke on first race winner you called and apprentice Alexis Centeno.
Ms. Eurton was stunning and Christina Blacker(who also looked great in red sweater) was near dirt and got couple shout outs and responses from jockeys going by on pre race post parade. Very cool

    • Flavor said, on December 27, 2020 at 7:56 am

great summary! After I gave out the winner to the first race at 6-1 and got no response I figured nobody cared so I stopped posting

      • willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 8:40 am

you were on that one, that was great. I was flipping back n forth to catch post parade and each of the races, then back to football. Schrupp is kind of cheerleader promo guy but Simon Bray and Ms. Blacker quite insightful and accurate and great to listen to, as you’ve pointed out before.
Rosario has bunch more mounts today maybe has better luck.

Love your commentary WillieD, but if you don’t own ’em or bet ’em the “sport” doesn’t want you…

gotta believe that was Great Karmatic Equalizer smiling upon form of Fins and paying chucky back from that W they stole from Jets. There’s just no one quite like the Raiders, who will miss playoffs again, lol.

    • Winder said, on December 27, 2020 at 8:20 am

Vegas is the perfect place for the Raiders. The circus never stops.

      • willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 8:42 am

Wasn’t anything wrong with Oakland, from tailgating to legendary Black Hole either, feel bad they left over f-up M. Davis greed.

      • Winder said, on December 27, 2020 at 9:01 am

It was all about the money.

There was about 20 something years when it seemed to me like almost everything went right for the “Commitment to Excellence” Raiders and “America’s Team” Cowboys. Amazing that they never collided in a Super Bowl. Must feel like another lifetime for their fans. That’s how it goes. Was there a bigger garbage dump in football than New England way back?

    • Macdog said, on December 27, 2020 at 9:41 am

A lot of fans my age around here jumped on their bandwagons in the 70s, so it would be great to see them go decades more without a title, especially the Cowjerks,

    • unca_chuck said, on December 27, 2020 at 12:39 pm

The Raiders were snakebit till 1977.

        Exhibit A:

Raiders were such an exciting team to watch football with their certain swagger during the Mad Bomber Daryl Lamonica and Kenny Stabler days and castoff players other organizations would not keep like a Ted Hendricks Otis Sistrunk,John Matusak ,Phil Villiapiano, they had opponents psyched out before games( except maybe the Chiefs always epic battles) it’s just not the case anymore for once a proud “Just win Baby” organization..

Yeah the New England Patriots were the joke of the NFL for years back in the 60’s-70’s always getting they’re asses kicked with that QB with the longest neck ever Steve Grogan..
The only great thing the Patriots had going early on was they’re Jerseys were cool and they’re football helmet with the minuteman snapping the football, best ever imo.. they should of kept using it.

Loo thx for 8:52, but honest, aren’t all sports that way? besides Giants game with Brethren 2019, I haven’t spent a dime on any team oriented gear or live event pro or college in ages (probably 15 years +). Funny Chron had story on one of few sports biz that has seen uptick in participation locally—golf.

    • djloo27 said, on December 27, 2020 at 10:20 am

And so completes the HOF rotation of Gibson, Seaver, Ford & Niekro…

RIP Phil Niekro. He was fun to watch. People seem to be dropping like flies.

  8. zumiee said, on December 27, 2020 at 10:52 am

Before the season started, the NBA adjusted their game schedule to lessen the amount of plane flights for teams. Tonight, the Kings host the Suns for the second night in a row.

  9. willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 12:41 pm

whoa Rosario’s horse Ebeko in 3rd turmbled and they both went to turf far behind leaders as they made turn for home. yikes

    • willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 12:57 pm

Rosario reported OK taken off mount for Race 4, no update on horse

  10. willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 12:58 pm

wow I was thinking about that Dr. Pepper Fansville commercial where the guy jinxing him that gets brought to trial says, “He’s automatic. No way he misses” before Falcons K blew tying FG.

  11. willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 2:13 pm

Joel Rosaro sufficiently recovered to win 6th at SA with favorite Octopus.

    • Flavor said, on December 27, 2020 at 2:36 pm

He went shoulders down into the turf. That is one tough SOB to come back and keep riding today

    • djloo27 said, on December 27, 2020 at 3:26 pm

      The horse was put down…

      • Flavor said, on December 27, 2020 at 3:56 pm

PETA gonna have a field day with that

      • willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 4:02 pm

ah that’s too bad. Awful spill. Horse hadn’t been a factor and was way out of race at back of pack.

  12. xoot said, on December 27, 2020 at 3:25 pm

Horse racing makes a good subject for fiction. Many titles. Good noir too. The Killing, eg (early Kubrick). Toughest jockey character has to be the African American guy in C E Morgan’s masterpiece The Sport of Kings. In one race, he takes a thrown shoe to the face and still rides ahead for a win.

    • James said, on December 27, 2020 at 4:31 pm

This definitely ain’t no Kubrick, but anything with Marie Windsor is at least a show wager:

      • xoot said, on December 27, 2020 at 5:44 pm

Haven’t watched it. On YouTube, I see. I’ll check it out. I’ve seen every perry mason rerun at least twice during the pandemic. Marie Windsor appears several times, and steals the show even when she gets bumped off in the first fifteen minutes.

Urban Meyer is reported to be interested in the Jacksonville Jaguars job. Why not when you’re guaranteed the number draft pick in Trevor Lawrence and you have a reputation as a QB guru..

  14. willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 4:09 pm

Hey Mac: If NYGs win next week, could they still win division if Was loses today?

    • Macdog said, on December 27, 2020 at 4:26 pm

Yes, if Washington also loses next week. Giants, though, have shown the last three weeks that they’re still fucking awful, non-competitive vs. three borderline contenders.

      • willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 4:50 pm

yeah if they beat Dallas and there’s 3 way tie at 6-10, who gets in? Nobody wants to see Dallas.

    • Macdog said, on December 27, 2020 at 4:59 pm

Giants would win the three-way 6-10 logjam, likely based on best head-to-head record between the three teams.

  15. djloo27 said, on December 27, 2020 at 4:54 pm

    Remember the Giants’ Niekro?

    • Flavor said, on December 27, 2020 at 5:14 pm

hell yeah. He crushed it in the minors (I think, didn’t look)

  16. alleykat69 said, on December 27, 2020 at 6:07 pm

Niekro was the start of the Bowker gang along with Damon Minor.Brett Pill
But no worries the GraveDuggar will carry the Bowker torch for now..

  17. willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 6:31 pm

Nice dunk from Wiseman, but it’s 2 points. You’re getting outscored 12-2 this quarter.

  18. xoot said, on December 27, 2020 at 7:19 pm

Re this game in Green Bay, I miss the old days when snow covered up the yard lines. No more frozen tundra games.

  19. willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 7:22 pm

Why isn’t Wiseman in there last 3 minutes?

    • willedav said, on December 27, 2020 at 7:33 pm

      Got em. On the board.

  20. djloo27 said, on December 27, 2020 at 7:38 pm

NFL gotta be rooting for Chief-Packer SB…

  21. djloo27 said, on December 27, 2020 at 8:02 pm

Could go either way on Mahomes vs. Rodgers for MVP, but Kelce should be in top five…

  22. zumiee said, on December 27, 2020 at 8:17 pm

Sad game for the Kings. But still above .500 at 2-1. 🙂

    • djloo27 said, on December 27, 2020 at 8:24 pm

      Above .600…😃

      • zumiee said, on December 27, 2020 at 8:46 pm
