Wow Moves From SoCal
Cubs salary dumb Darvish to Padres and honestly that’s probably a good move for them. It’s a fantastic move for the Padres who are really spicing up this off season with bold moves. When you look at what they are doing and then look at what we are doing (Gausman, Desclafini, and I think someone else I’m forgetting) and you see a true tale of two different paths.
Have we improved? Eh, maybe a little. When San Diego does what it’s doing it really doesn’t matter if we get a teeny tiny bit more competitive…….
Hey Flav, saw this today in NYT: “…provision deep in coronovirus stimulus package puts USADA in charge of regulating thoroughbred racing.”
“The horse racing measure, which takes effect July 2022 calls for a board overseen by the FTC to write rules and penalties to be enforced by US Anti Doping Agency.” this would be group that got Armstrong banned.
Quotes owner and breeder Arthur Hancock and details his efforts to bring this about, often at odds with Churchill Downs and Sen. McConnell, who have finally agreed to support this.
Our albatross contracts have aged to the point where they no longer look like big deals.
At least they didn’t get saddled with Stanton’s multi-year horror show.
But the Giants still operate like a small market team.
When all but Longoria are off the books after 2021, we’ll find out how serious this management group is about competing…
Well said…
Thanks, man!
Lot of talk on fangraphs and MLBTR about how Rays operate, based on revenue stadium etc. Centers on them drafting/developing well and acquiring young players they can hang onto for x amount of years until arb years or slightly beyond, then trading them off to acquire more controllable players.
They did get SF to take Longoria (one of best players at time), agreeing to send back few mil each season, which still continues. They also took on Span’s $10 mil salary and even sent some $$ back when they soon dumped him off to M’s.
But they never would have hung onto Crawford and Belt, and likely not Posey Smardz Cueto either.
SD did it perfectly. Hit on their young studs now go all in. That’s the recipe for success not do that straddle bullshit
When you draft good players it gives you the opportunity throw some big money around. The front office has to make decisions that payoff. SD looks like they have done just that.
Flavor u might of been thinking of infielder Jason Vosler from the so rich SD Padres team that they even didn’t protect him so the Giants picked up their usual table scraps from their cold stove winter signing period..
Pfffukkk. WordPress insisted that I log back in to their site before my latest could be posted. Did that and everything I typed out dropped into the memory-hole. Pfffffukkk.
I hate it when that happens.
we were just talking about this dude last week
Contrary to Chic Anderson’s call, Alydar never put a whisker in front of Affirmed in the Belmont stretch…
Man, SI used to be soooo cool. I remember that issue. Between me and my brother, we had subscriptions from 1966 to about 2001.
I heard that other than Betts, the Dodgers have no contract obligations beyond 2022.
Is this good or bad for the Giants?
Or neither?
I think Seager is closest of top players they would have to deal with.
One of that big list of FA SS…I think after 2021. looked it up arb eligible 2021, FA 2022.
Watching Rutgers game at RAC, vs .Purdue. Boilers have a C that is monster, Zach Edey listed as 7-4 285.
Wiggins Wiseman Wanamaker making it happen with Curry sitting out pushing lead to 10.
nice to see Wiggins do something tonight. Ouber sat for a long time? I didn’t see the game, did he get benched?
No he was in there. Played good defense and hit a 3 after going 0-17. he went 1-4 from 3.
Kings win! 3-1, .750. 🙂
Another solid contribution from the rookie Haliburton. Came off the bench and was productive in his minutes.
