Bang Bang
Yo, I wanted me some Staffy Taffy but two 1’s and a 3 is way too much to pay. The Rams already gave away another 1 for Ramsey so I’m not sure what there plan is if Stafford gets hurt. The haul Detroit got for him effectively ends any dream of Lynch trading for an established QB. If that’s what the price is what would it be for Watson or Rodgers? Yikes.
And now for something completely different. Blade and his guns. In times like these I think owning a fire arm or two is a good idea….

On Second Thought…..
As usual, the calm words of San Dawg have steadied me.

This is like signing a premer free agent. We need to get better before making moves like this.
Feels a tad Longoria-esque to me as well. Over 30. No more Coors Field. Curious to see how this plays out.

My initial reaction to that deal was born from a Winter of shopping in the Brebbia Aisle. I’m tired of the discount stuff.
Joc to Cubs
Aren’t the Cubs ditching salary and living life on the cheap? LOL, how in the hell did we lose out on Joc Pederson to the goddamn Cubs? You KNOW he wanted to play here, he grew up the biggest Giants fan. As usual, a free agent hitter has used SF for leverage and gotten a deal somewhere else. Either that, or it’s just nonsense when we hear about rumors of our front office talking with free agent hitters. They never EVER come here.
Pederson got 1 year, 7 million.
WE COULDN’T HAVE SPENT THOSE PENNIES!!!????!?!?!?!?
Seriously, even if you are just kicking the tires on someone, if you know he’d fit into your LU and you KNOW he wants to be a part of the team he grew up rooting for, how do you not at least offer THAT?
Go Get Me Some Stafford
Steve Young called him generational. Greg Cosell said “I like Jimmy G but Stafford is just better.”
The Niners are still in a window of win time. Assuming everyone comes back healthy next year. I’d trade for Stafford in a SECOND over drafting some QB who may or may not be good in 3 years.
I don’t know what he’d cost, it would be a lot less than Watson or Rodgers. Start with a #1 and then let’s keep talking….
New Guy
Tommy La Stella pick up…..
Pros: doesn’t strike out much. High OBP.
Cons: Slow and pretty weak—- There are few things I hate more than baseball players in today’s game who are slow and weak.
Also, he’s left handed and I get the need for a platoon with some of our RH platoon guys but…..I don’t know, this one isn’t really doing it for me……
Would have preferred they sign Marcus Semien instead and move Crawford…..anywhere.
Tip Of The Cap To Mr. 43 Year Old
I’ve run out of hatred for Tom Brady. To be honest, most of it stemmed from him threatening the legacy of Joe as the greatest QB of all time. For me, if I had to pick one QB to start a game I had to win it would still be Joe 1000X. But Brady is going to his 10th damn SB. I’ve given up and he gets all my respect. And you know what? I am calling it right now, Tampa not only covers but wins the game vs Mighty Mahomes. Their D is the best KC has faced all year. And sprinkle in a little Brady magic, I see them getting it done.
Congrats to Mr. Sports Dude who rode the unusual PUNTING category to victory in the NFLBBB3. I sent him $20 this morning. All my fellow losers please do the same. mwrymer@gmail.com
Where The Elite Compete
So far, only me, Diggity, MacDog, Chi and UncaChuck are scheduled to battle in the NFLBBB3. GH, SportsDude and Loo seem to have abandoned the fun.
Entries accepted up till Noon PST.
Really excited for these games today. And let’s see it SNOW in GB, the more the better……
I’ve got 21 teams at draftkings, if any of you play there and want to go heads up for high score email me (this is mostly a call out to WilcoJoe, I don’t think any other Flappers play at DK)

Ok, I am closing the contest at 11:24am, I got shit to do later so I’m uploading the contestants now.
As usual, here is the time stamped email I sent Katie with my picks:

Saturday!
Not much of a Saturday without any football. Carson gets another adventurous trip to the vet to get another glucose sensor strapped on him. Oh how I love trips to the vet. lulz.
We have 4 or 5 entries so far in the NFLBBB3 so if you’re on the fence about playing I’d get in if I were you.
Dubs in Utah tonight….
East Coast 1 West Coast 0
Dubs laid an egg last night. Ref who tossed Green was reffing his first NBA game ever. Draymond has probably already begun planning his murder. Knicks back to back tonight now taking on Sacto a fav of many here at the blog. Question from a west coaster: what the hell is a knickerbocker?
The entries for the NFLBBB3 are trickling in.
NFLBBB Round 3
Ok, Loo and I are busy cookin’ up a non-monitary prize for the SB so this will probably be the last NFLBBB (for $$$ at least). This is the scoring system:
Pick the winner of GB (-3.5) vs TB considering the spread: 2 points
pick the winner of KC (-3.5) vs Buffalo considering the spread: 2 points
Closest to the total points scored in both games: 2 points
Correctly identify the RB with the most rushing yards on the weekend: 2 points
Correctly identify the QB with the most passing yards on the weekend: 2 points
Correctly identify the player with the most receiving yards on the weekend: 2 points
Guess the total number of successful FG’s kicked by all 4 teams: 2 points (must guess this number exactly to earn the 2 points–if no one guesses it exactly this prop bet is off the board).
Guess the total number of punts by all 4 teams: 2 points (must guess this number exactly to earn the two points–if no one guesses this number exactly this prop bet is off the board)
Ok, $20 entry, that’s 16 points total. In the event of a TIE at the top whoever got closest to the TOTAL NUMBER OF POINTS SCORED BY BOTH TEAMS will be the victor. if there is still a tie those contestants will split the prize $$$$.
And as we know very clearly by now, to the victor go the spoils……..
What Will NFLBBB3 Look Like?
There are all kinds of people in this world. People on my list. Some of those people stay on my list. I don’t like those people. And then there are those who are in the circle of trust. The honor club. That’s all you people. Your debt is paid in full. I bought more bitcoin at paypal with your money…….
I have an exciting new format for the weekend games. Will post it on Thurs or so once we get a little more clarification about Mahomes.
To The Victor Go The Spoils
With zero Giants news on the horizon I thought I would post this. I wonder if Scott Boras ever makes public 69 jokes about any of his clients?

I still wonder what this chick brings to the table (as an agent).
Speaking of “tables” it is important to note that I turned one on good ol’ MacDog this weekend. No longer reigning NFLBBB champ, I’m not sure how you’ll be spending your day. Me? I’ll be biding my time and periodically checking my paypal account, closely monitoring who pays in a timely manner and who does not. 🙂

Closed case: GH and That Fucking Clown and Unca and San Diggity Dawg and Mr. Sports Dude
Open cases: everyone else
And Now For Something Completely Different
Do you guys remember the “I feel Good” SF Giants campaign from the late 80’s? It was pretty goofy and never really made much sense. Here is a 4 minute clip of the outtakes, some of this is hilarious.
Unca redeemed himself a little with the Buffalo score. Chi is all by his lonesome at the back of that bus. Need some big scores today or Mr. Sports Dude will lock up the overall total score. Me and the Clown have a big time interest in Clev covering.
Big Big NFL Weekend!
I honestly wouldn’t bet a dime on any of this weekend’s football spreads (besides the $20 I’m throwing at the NFLBBB). I could see any of these teams covering. Please also note that the KC and NO line never moved or wavered from 10/3. I feel vindicated by not bowing to the public pressure to add a fake hook on those lines.

also, if you’re interested in what the sharpies are up to:

I know I said the deadline for entries in KO first game but I’m going to be busy then so I will be cutting the contest entry time to some time this morning (PST). You’ll know when that is when I upload all the entries into this thread. I think we have 8 playing right now.
________________________________________
Ok, just as I did last week, here is the email I sent to my daughter with the time stamp on it confirming that I was the first to get their picks in without seeing any other entries first:

here are the rest…….
Mr. Sports Dude: 193 GB, Balt, KC, TB
San Diggity Dog: 194 GB, Balt, KC, NO
Current reigning champion Mac Dog: 216 GB, Balt, KC, TB
Unca Chuck: 228 Rams, Buffalo, KC, TB
That Fucking Clown: 199 GB, Balt, Clev, NO
GiantHead: 209 GB, Balt, KC, Saints
ChiPower: 206 Rams, Balt, KC, NO
8 contestants playing for $160…..
Giants Dumpster Diving And The NFLBBB Carries Onward!
Actually this off season is going about how we all thought, right? The dream of a big FA signing (or two) was probably never in the cards. I was going to make a joke about our owner only wanting to spend real $$$$ on his idiot Q-anon politicians but then I realized I’d be violating one of my own rules so I won’t make that joke……..
The NFLBBB is coming together about how I thought. Less entries but still a good time waiting to happen. There has been some questions about the point spread and why don’t I just add or subtract a 1/2 point to either end of the KC and/or NO game. True, the risk of tie is there. But as the designated line maker at the Flap I have a great responsibility to uphold the integrity of any given line. Adding (or subtracting) the hook to 3,7,10 or 14 is one of the most powerful acts a line maker can invoke. It is not a responsiblity I take lightly. True, we have seen a couple of the lines move 1/2 point since I posted them yesterday. But we must stay with the process. Yesterday’s line is the one we’ll play from.
If there is a tie or two, so be it. This is a hill I am ready to die on…….
Net Loss + New NFLBBB Contest
I honestly don’t get the Nets trading all that for Harden. They gave up two controllable exciting good young players PLUS like what? 4 first rounders? In exchange they get a fatso who whined his way out of town and who seems to only be able to be at his best when he’s playing me-first iso ball. And now the Nets have nearly their entire salary cap soaked up by 3 players. Makes absolutely zero sense to me………
Ok, the contest. Week 2 of the NFLBBB. Against my instincts we can complicate it with more ways to earn points. I think this is going to lose some of the fringe players we had in NFLBBB Week 1. But that’s cool. Let’s bump the payout up to $20 entry fee and do it this way:
- Pick the total number of points scored. Whoever is closest gets 3 points (a tie between multiple Flappers, if there was one, is still 3 points each) You get an extra point if you nail the number cold. After that you pick the winner of each of the 4 games USING THE POINT SPREAD THAT I AM LISTING HERE TODAY. You get 4 points for each game you get right. Total points possible if you guess the total number cold AND you hit all 4 games: 20. This will allow for the chance to still win even if you lose on the total # of points scored. If you tie on the spread that game is taken off the board (KC and NO could result in a tie).
Green Bay -6.5 (total 45)
Buffalo -2.5 (total 50)
KC -10 (total 57)
New Orleans -3 (total 52)
Thoughts? We might get 6-7 people if we play this format.

Additionally, it is Bozo the Clown’s birthday. Happy birthday you fucking clown
One More Time?
Ok, as Mac continues to get paid out faster than a second governmental stimulus check, I am wondering what we should do now? Well…….how bout we fire up another NFLBBB? Round 2? Only 4 games so I might tinker with the format. But it will definitely start with the total points scored across the four games. Do not send me your picks yet (Chi). I’ll send out something tomorrow about it.
Paying MacDog
Just a quick update on MacDog’s great victory. We are in negotiations right now on how he will end up receiving the spoils. Thanks to the several of you who have checked in on how to pay him the $10. We should have a clearer picture of that in the next day or two…….
And The Winner is MacDog!
How fitting is it that the guy who took it upon himself to update the total score after every game ended up being the ultimate winner of the contest?
MacDog, victory must feel sweet. And to the victor go the spoils. Now comes the difficult part. Getting Flappers to pony up. But fear not I will publicly shame any and all who don’t pay you in a timely manner.
Email me how you would like to recieve the loot and we’ll go from there……..
And thanks to Loo for the idea for the contest and the obvious enthusiastic kudos to me for keeping the blog going all these years 🙂
NFLBBB, Day 2
Thankfully we have a math major to help us with the numbers stuff……

We’re halfway there. Total points 155, on pace for 310.

Still, anything can happen.
Unless you’re Mr. Sportsdude who, for some reason, has already thrown the damn towel!
Three more games today MSD. Pick up the towel. Don’t send Unca Chuck any money. And if you must, make sure it’s a bunch of nickels stuffed into a block of styrofoam. lqtm
NFL WEEKEND!
I don’t need the Niners in the playoffs to be excited about this. Six playoff games this weekend? Giddyup. The entries continue to trickle in for the NFLBBB. Interestingly, several lurkers playing. I will update this thread once the Buffalo game starts with everyone’s guesses.
Without further ado, the contestants. Here’s the email I sent Katie time stamped to show I submitted my guesses first.

Rebecca: 274 colts, sea, bucs, tenn, bears, browns
Chi: 273: Bills, Sea, Bucs, Balt, Saints, Browns
MudMan: 282 Bills, rams, bucs, tenn, saints, Pitt
GH: 279 bills, sea, bucs, pitt, balt, Saints
MacDog: 306 bills, sea, bucs, balt, saints, Pitt
Unca Chuck 312: bills, bucs, saints, balt, pitt, Rams
Rachel: 286 Bills, sea, bucs, tenn, saints, Pitt
SportsDude: 317 bills, sea, bucs, tenn, saints, pitt
San Diggity Dawg: 268 Bills, Sea, Wash, Balt, Saints, Browns
The great DJ Loo: 284 colts, sea, bucs, tenn, saints, Pitt
bird dog: 279 Bills, Sea, Bucs, tenn, pitt, saints
unless I missed someone, that’s it. San Dawg subverted my angle of going low and getting everything below 271 by going 268. Goddamn you! lol. Sportsdude has everything over 317
12 players all playing for $120.
GH and birdog submitted the same # and at 285 Rachel and Loo would tie. Also, 272 would tie me and Chi. I think that’s it
TSC back to Japan
Well, scratch Tommy Sugar Cane off the list. He has reviewed any and all mlb offers for his services and at the end of the day he decided to head back to Japan and cut his cane there.
I am still getting entries trickling into the NFLBBB contest. The deadline is kickoff on Sat but I would appreciate them sooner.
Off the top of my head, we have me, Rebecca, Chi, Xoot, Mac, Mudman, GH and SanDawg locked in. DJ Loo still hasn’t sent me anything. He may be protesting the low entry fee of $10 I don’t know. I’m hoping for a PaSalon entry–consult with Ervin if you need help with NFL. RACHEL texted me that she’s gonna play but so far no entry from her. Unca claims he’s in and is scooping up 1000 pennies as his entry should he lose (ps–the nickle styro payment was hilarious, I hope you still have that on your mantle somewhere. WILLIED I know your rules on gambling so….PLAY FOR FUN!
Anyone else, enter if you like!
bigflavor77@gmail.com
Send In Your Entries
I’m changing the thread but am still hyping the NFLBBB contest. I’ve only gotten a half dozen or so entries and considering the voracious appetite I saw a few days ago for the game that surprises me. The deadline is kickoff first game Sat morning but it will be easier for me to organize the entries and spit them back out to you if I have them before that. The good news is that everyone submitting so far is playing for cold……hard…..cash. If you still want to play, email me at bigflavor77@gmail.com your guess for the total number of points scored in all 6 games this weekend AND your guess of who will be winning all 6 games (no point spread just the winner) and also tell me if you are playing for fun or if you’re entering into the $10 winner take all contest……
Draftkings has 2 great contests set up, a three game tourney for Sat and a 6 gamer for both days. I’m heavily invested in both……..
Time For The First Annual NFLBBB
The *masses* were clammoring in chat for me to get the NFL Blowout Bonaza Bet (NFLBBB) set up so this is the thread to do just that. Your task is to accurately identify the TOTAL number of points scored in the 6 NFL playoff games this weekend. Without further ado….the total points as Vegas has them currently assigned:
Colts/Bills: 51.5
Rams/Sea: 42.5
Bucs/WFT: 45.5
Ravens/Tenn: 55
Bears//Saint: 47.5
Browns/Pitt: 47
What do you get if you add all that shit up? That’s a cool 289, baby. Big Flavor already doing most of the work for you. Now, you COULD guess 289 and that would probably put you in the ballpark for the win. But that’s kind of a pussy guess to make, just giving a knowing dude head nod to the Vegas odds makers. Be your own man. Pick you own number.
But since most of the numbers will be close or semi close to 289, the TIE BREAKER is going to be how many games you get right. Don’t worry about the point spread. Just send me your TOTAL NUMBER of points for all 6 games along with the six teams you think are going to win.
If there’s a tie after that so be it. The winners will split it up. To the victor go the spoils…….
Back in the day this contest winner would be awarded a COMPUTER! But we don’t roll that way anymore with Twinfan gone and probably looking down calling me a dunderhead for not continuing his grand tradition. This contest costs $10 and it’s winner take all. You want to play for $$$$ let me know that in the email. Ten Bones. That’s two fins from where I come from. If you don’t want to play for cash you can play for fun I’m cool with that. Just indicate it in the email. I won’t collect $$$ this is on the honor system. Once we identify a winner who played for cash I’ll have all the losers (who agree to play for $) to send him $10 via paypal, zelle, whatever. DO NOT SEND ME $$$
So remember, the email to me bigflavor77@gmail.com is going to look something like this:
“yo Flavor! Hey man, thanks for keeping the blog going all these years yadda yadda, the typical message I get from you guys 🙂 …..my total point # is _________ and my 6 winners are_____ _______ _______ ______ ______ _______ and I have ten bones (two fins) and I’m lettin’ that shit ride!!!! woo hoo!!!!!”
Or, you know, construct the email however you want………
You have until kickoff of the first game Sat morning (that’s the Colts game, 10:15am PST) to get me your picks. I will send an email to my daughter shortly after I post this thread with my picks so nobody thinks I’m waiting to see what everyone else picks before guessing. The integrity of the game is paramount.
Warriors Coalescing
The Dubs playing better isn’t a surprise, they were destined to start off slow without Draymond and with Steph having to play with a bunch of scrubbini’s. And one thing we knew was that Wiseman was going to get better as he got to play.
Watching Boogie get two tech’s in 3 minutes was good comedy. And his angst was directed at no less than a trusted fellow wildcat. Cousins has been the same since he got into the league: a bully who freaks out if you even breath on him defensively. I still don’t understand why WCS never became more than a journeyman fringe guy……
Free Agent Buzz
Not much baseball news except a few teams waiting on Tommy Sugar Cane. But I don’t see him making the jump from Japan. Could be wrong tho. And I’d be shocked if we were making him a legit offer. But, what else does Z have to do right now?
Steph getting 62…..wow. And they won, too!
NFL
I can’t keep track of all the things that need to happen today for playoff seed jockeying so I started this thread for you guys to kick that around.
Does Beat Hard shock the world today?
Not Cut From Same Cloth
Two Items
Ok, no new year’s rezzies, I already do everything about as awesome as I am able to. So we’ll skip those and move on to a couple items from yesterday.
Item #1: There are people who visit and lurk at the blog. There are Flap regulars. There are Flap hall of famers. And then way above all of these people, there is DJ Loo. As many of you know I consider The Grave Duggar to be one of the greatest nicknames of all time. So what does Loo do?

That is what greeted me at the mail box yesterday. Thank you my man. Now we just need to get my dawg some at bats!
Item #2:
This one makes absolutely no sense and that’s why it’s awesome. Growing up I was a Brian Sipe fan. There was no rhyme or reason for this and I wasn’t in his fan club or anything I just liked him. I probably haven’t thought about him though more than a couple of times in the last 40 years. One of those times was Wednesday when the Super70’s guy tweeted out this:

As I usually do I tweeted something back to him:

Now this next part is a little hard to follow but here’s the background: WilcoJoe tweets out shit about Texas football all the time and I like to pretend I know about it so I tweet random stuff back to him. Somewhere along the way a bet bubbled up between me and Diggity about their QB Ehlinger and how many NFL td’s he might throw in his career (he’s headed to the NFL draft next year). This was San Dawg’s tweet:

I had to read that a couple of times before it sunk in. On the same day I was tweeting about random Brian Sipe the great San Dawg was GOLFING with the dude. What are the freaking odds of that???????
There are no more items on today’s agenda. Hapy New Year!
