Just a quick update on MacDog’s great victory. We are in negotiations right now on how he will end up receiving the spoils. Thanks to the several of you who have checked in on how to pay him the $10. We should have a clearer picture of that in the next day or two…….

The Commish, Rob Manfred, says a 162 game season is on. Good news, I think. He also stated, as noted on MLBTR, that the regular ST startup will take off in February. With that, we can expect the logjam to begin breaking up on the free-agents, trades, etc. Will SF be a player (being short a starter and more) or will they stand pat?

What does Manfred Man say about minor league camps?
He’s said shit along with still not confirming what’s up with the DH
per MLBTR story dated Jan 6, Manfred says minor league seasons to be delayed, which is headline under which story can be found.
“AA and A ball players will wait until major league players as well as AAA players have departed their facilities.”
In other words, everyone stays together til end of ST. One of reasons given was that minor leagues not nearly as well set up for social distancing etc.
Also said minor league season will run til October, unlike olden days when it ended by September and all call ups came. No more minor league playoffs…but it does look like plan is for full season.

So when the AAA season gets going, SacTown will feature the ultimate fill-in. An amazing garbage-dump pickup? Probably. Some previously unknown quality discovered by a discerning scout? Maybe. The Z&H team taking turns flipping darts at a board? Almost looks that way.
When will the ops staff get serious about nailing down a starter with a career ERA under 4.00? Will the Giants pick up a strong RH bat? Can we even dream of a quality closer or has Moronta already been anointed? With S.T. only a scant month from now, will us fans get tossed a couple of bones which have not already been gnawed to shreds?
flavor is dead right though about lack of news on DH in NL from Manfred. Sucks for FA like M Brantley and others, who can still hit but as defensive liability wouldn’t be good fit for NL teams.
Without DH, wouldn’t Ruf have lot harder time making Giants roster?

You have Solano,Flores,Ruf,Dickerson,Posey, Longo,Belt,Crawdaddy thats 8 players you could mix&match with some defensive liability while others too old and need a day off from the field for 9 innings and just take 4 hacks instead..

I wandered into a pub in Galway, near Eyre Sq, devoted to baseball. And hurling. mlb games on the screens all hours. The owner was a big Mets fan. They pulled a fine pint.

Oh, post that pic, that would be fun to see. I guess I got lucky when I was at the cliffs, during the week and hardly anyone there, but I can imagine. Yeah, Galway city was great. And heading west out of the city out to the Connemara peninsula, stunning countryside. Hadn’t thought of that trip in awhile, truly one of the best.
My younger son is pursuing a masters in engineering at university of limerick. The lockdowns lifted this past summer and he and his friends went wild up the west coast. He sent me curated photos and told me curated tales every week. They’re back to lockdown now. He Skyped earlier than usual this week. Just wanted to talk. But they’re safe over there.

Shit I would give them Jimmy G, this years 1st and 2 nd pick, next year’s 1st pick to start with,still might not be enough. But Hell Watson is a STUD who’s coming off a fantastic season completing over 70% of his passes,very durable ( only has missed 1 game in 3 years) and at 25 years old just hitting his prime years. 49ers could win multiple SB’s with Watson&Shanahan I believe in my pipe dream that will probably never happen..
’90 to ’92 late in my Boston years, had a girlfriend from Ireland (not Irish-American from Southie, etc., she was the real deal born and raised in Dublin, in the US on a several-year green card). She had to move back to Dublin at some point early ’92, so we kinda broke up. Long distance dating and all that. Decided on one last attempt to save the relationship and headed over to Ireland for a few weeks Fall of ’92. I rented a car and we did a 2-week road trip around the country; her brother and his girlfriend came along. Patrick was pretty cool, and we both agreed that the road trip was dedicated to finding the perfect pint of Guinness. Sprinkled among some golfing and turf races, we probably visited nearly 50 pubs all over the country and it definitely took the full 2 weeks to find that perfect pint, which ended up being poured at Gus O’Connor’s pub in the small town of Doolin. We cheers’ed and took the first sip and the looks on our faces revealed we’d found it. So smooth it was like breathing. Yeah, it’s all in the pour. Had another friend in Boston from Ireland who worked for Guinness whose job was to go around to all the bars in Boston that served G. on tap and inspect the hosing, refridgeration, and training of the pourers to ensure the ultimate Guiness experience. Now that’s a job. Ah, Geraldine of black hair, green eyes, and fair skin, she’ll always be the love of my life. Along with that perfect pint in Doolin…..

Well Blarney PA that is one cool pub I would love to go too! Pints 🍺 of Ireland’s favorite beers, breakfast,lunch&dinner and the atmosphere is so original and inviting to have one hell of a good time!
Looking at the pics on their website, it looks so clean and bright. My memory is it was a bit dark and dank and smoky as hell, but still, good food and drink all around. Good craik, as they say, good fun. I remember my gf Geraldine’s boss overhearing her one day talking about a party she’d been to over the weekend and she said it was good craik. He thought she was talking about doing crack. Good times.
On the DH in the NL, I did recall reading this article. This is as close as it gets to confirming no DH in the NL for 2021…
