A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

One More Time?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on January 13, 2021

Ok, as Mac continues to get paid out faster than a second governmental stimulus check, I am wondering what we should do now? Well…….how bout we fire up another NFLBBB? Round 2? Only 4 games so I might tinker with the format. But it will definitely start with the total points scored across the four games. Do not send me your picks yet (Chi). I’ll send out something tomorrow about it.

Fewer games might necessitate a second tiebreaker.
How about total combined passing yards of Rodgers & Mahomes?

Scott Harris sighting in chron, reported by Shea. Giants still not sure what level to start their top prospects like luciano who were at alt site last year instead of in organized ball. So it may be low A San Jose, though mention was made he might already be too advanced for that, or high A in Eugene. This would of course apply to most of top hitting prospects(Wilson Bishop yada yada) who haven’t played any level above rook ball not named Ramos.

Here’s direct quote from Harris: “I think if the opportunity presents itself, we may start them with conservative placement but be totally open-minded to promoting them quickly…” Shea notes, “Luciano was destined for Giants low A affiliate (Augusta) before the game was shut down in March. ” San Jose would be new equivalent of low A.
“So if the Giants send their young players to affiliates for which they had been targeted last year, which has been discussed, it’s possible Luciano could open the 2021 season in San Jose…”

I’d go check out some of those games if so.

Yeah, I am definitely gonna hit some Eugene games.

    • willedav said, on January 13, 2021 at 9:29 am

Hell yeah. Plus traffic down 101 to 7th Street exit wouldn’t be near as bad as normal.

280 not 101. By late afternoon it used to be parking lot going south.

How about if the contest combines a point total with picking winners against the spread? Maybe even using confidence points to differentiate the picks a bit. I think picking the winners should be more than just the tiebreaker.

I am down with whatever you guys come up with for the next NFL round.

I like making game picks against the spread.

And, no, never saw Leslie West or Mountain.

It was a model airplane, an M-80, and some glue . . .

That was big fun back then…

Somewhere in a friend of mine’s attic is an 8mm video we made of a car crash replete with explosions and fire.

Would love to see those again.

I used to make model ships and blow em up.

I use to have a Cox Indy car from the 60’s blue&silver like the Mario Andretti type used at the 500.It was bad ass, u would use a small battery pack that had a clip that attached to to the cylinder head to charge, u add fuel , then when your ready for shit kickin fun you spun the back wheels clockwise till the engine fired up( usually one are 2 try’s)and let it rip.And the smell and the exhaust fumes felt like you were in the pits at Indy lol 😂
I would take it down to a school yard using those slick corridors which is better then rough concrete which makes the race flip to much.It also had a roll bar above the drivers seat that you could put a heavy twine through it and setup a straight line run! Man those were the days!A buddy of mine also got one and we would setup side by side racing in the corridors, just a blast 💥

Deadline for teams to make offer to arb eligible players is Friday 15th. Giants only have 2, Moronta and Solano.
    Moronta only makes $565K
Solano, who in 2 seasons here has slash line of .328/.362/,459 for .821 OPS, made $1.375 mil last year (full season salary, not what was actually pro rated I think).
Giants payroll estimated at $142 mil from what I’ve seen, with $75 mil to come off books alone from Craw Belt Cueto and Posey, plus the $18 mil on one year deal to Gausman.

  13. willedav said, on January 13, 2021 at 1:13 pm

Solano turned 33 in December. Belt will be 33 on 4/20. Crawford will be 34 next Thursday. Both of these 2 have 10 years in with Giants, from 2011 to present.

    Holy shit!
    Harden’s coming to Brooklyn!

    • willedav said, on January 13, 2021 at 3:38 pm

yeah. I liked Allen and Levert that’s too bad they had to be part of the deal. any idea wtf is up with Irving? Did he fall off the part of the earth that’s flat?

      • Flavor said, on January 13, 2021 at 4:30 pm

agreed. And how many first round picks did they give up for *ball hog* Fatso Harden? The Nets could win it all this year, they could. But they paid a STEEP price IMO

  15. unca_chuck said, on January 13, 2021 at 7:57 pm

4 players and 4 first round picks? Damn.

  16. unca_chuck said, on January 13, 2021 at 8:02 pm

I think this will be a spectacular explosion. KD couldn’t take the love Curry, Thompson, and Green got. How will he deal with harden and Irving getting props?

    • willedav said, on January 13, 2021 at 8:35 pm

I don’t think writers (or fanbase) treated Durant fairly here. That beef with Green was BS on both parts, but Durant got 100% all the blame. Complicated guy, but tremendous player, and unguardable. Last few nights we’ve seen what other defenses can do to Curry—they are in his head and he’s even missing FTs.

You could certainly be right about how Nets implode. My first reaction was, not enough basketballs to go around.

  17. djloo27 said, on January 13, 2021 at 8:41 pm

Sure is a lotta Saleh to the Jets talk here.
Would you believe my auto correct tried to change Saleh to Walsh?
    What are the odds?

This woman may be a right wing nut, but she’s hilarious.
