And Now For Something Completely Different

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on January 17, 2021

Do you guys remember the “I feel Good” SF Giants campaign from the late 80’s? It was pretty goofy and never really made much sense. Here is a 4 minute clip of the outtakes, some of this is hilarious.

Unca redeemed himself a little with the Buffalo score. Chi is all by his lonesome at the back of that bus. Need some big scores today or Mr. Sports Dude will lock up the overall total score. Me and the Clown have a big time interest in Clev covering.

That’s cool but nothing touches this.

    • Winder said, on January 17, 2021 at 8:54 am

      That was fun to watch.

Too bad they didn’t have James Brown tune playing behind it, great bass line, Maceo Parker yada yada.
In MLBTR story about Dave Stewart making offer on A’s stadium are lot of comments about where A’s should move. Seems inevitable unless ownership sells; their new yard will never happen and they aren’t into redoing present digs as economically viable option.
Used to be totally against it, but San Jose would actually be perfect for them. Weather is better, fanbase is intact, plenty of $$$, depending on where new yard would be transit likely an easy way to get there.

Anywhere else seems like a reach.

it’s fun to see a young Kruk, Bake, etc…

    • Winder said, on January 17, 2021 at 8:55 am

That was great a era in Giants baseball.

I think I saw Donnell Nixon near the end.
Perfect candidate for San Dawg’s favorite Giant.
The old hat logo was so much better with the nice straight lines instead of all that pointy shit…

younger brother to Otis, who used to hit leadoff with Braves in early 90s. Also got suspended. Bay area radio guys Lamont and Tonelli used to do skits talking to “Otis Nixon’s grandmother.” Stole 620 bags in career, high of 72 with Braves. That was high pitched rivalry.
Do remember Craig calling back to back pitchouts once and nailing him trying to steal 2b.
Good to see Craig in that first vid, thanks. Sure was a force here, and who always claimed if thrown properly split will not cause injury at any higher rate than other pitches.

i always get Ernie Riles mixed up with one or both of the Nixon bros

      • djloo27 said, on January 17, 2021 at 9:51 am

        I might have, too…

      • willedav said, on January 17, 2021 at 9:55 am

Otis was much taller, like 6-3, and skinnier than Donnell, or Riles I think.

Robby and Matt look like they are 16. Will as well. From darkness to light. Only thing that ruins it is Brett Butler…

  7. willedav said, on January 17, 2021 at 10:02 am

He never hit much but always liked Jose Uribe in that group. 89 was like his worst season ever, hitting .221 with OPS under .600. Post season totals for 87 and 89 he actually hit for .250 average.

Mitchell and Maldonado look like naturals.

  9. Macdog said, on January 17, 2021 at 10:26 am

Ha, fun video. I remember the I Feel Good slogan mainly from the radio, they would play a brief clip from the song after every game — and probably before — ad nauseum.

Chi needs to make a bold stand and statement with Rosa Parks and say”We’re not sitting in the back of the bus!”

Famed music producer Phil Spector dead at 81

  12. alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 10:57 am

Sure glad they didn’t come out with that, “I feel good” Giants clip in 85,when poor old Jimmy Davenport managed that team to 100 losses( well technically less before Roger Craig finished the year out) nobody was feeling good that year…

    • Winder said, on January 17, 2021 at 11:04 am

Over the years I think I ended up with more Jimmy Davenport baseball cards than anyone else.

      • alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 12:13 pm

Had my share as well Winder.I knew the whole Davenport family growing up.They lived in San Carlos, went to high school with Jim’s sons Randy,Gary, and Don, played little league all the way thru high school baseball then on to many years of playing Softball and beers together lol 😂 Great family , I felt so bad for Jim’s awful season of managing and the razzing the son’s took for awhile. He might have been a better manager if that whole team did not have such shitty down years all together. Then the next year Clark&Thompson came up and everything changed for the better, timing is everything..

      • Winder said, on January 17, 2021 at 1:26 pm

Yeah, I went to a lot of games in 85 and I felt sorry for him too. It was a team effort

    • willedav said, on January 17, 2021 at 11:06 am

mm dark days for sure. My cousin was die hard Giants fan, his roommate used to make fun of them all the time for how bad they were. More often than not, I had to agree with him in Johnny Rabb Guy Sularz era.
Btw, Kat did you know paul Noce? Guys i played softball with at Hawes in 84 (iirc) talked about him.

      • alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 12:26 pm

Small world Willied, I did know Paul only from playing against him at Hawes,Bechet,Griffin softball fields ( I also played a majority of my softball in San Carlos at Burton park)I believe he went to Sequoia High? I was at San Carlos High, and he was a few years behind me maybe 3 years?Great ball player though!

    • Macdog said, on January 17, 2021 at 1:22 pm

Fumbling away a sure TD ain’t gonna help.

  18. alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 2:01 pm

I would of went for 2 points there if I’m the Browns to try and make it a possible one score scenario instead of 2 possessions..

  19. Macdog said, on January 17, 2021 at 2:11 pm

    We’re over 100!

  20. alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 2:20 pm

Damm I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a player that groggy needing help up like Mahomes! For sure he needs to be ruled out with a concussion 🤕! Loo’s gotta being shitting bricks 🧱

  21. Flavor said, on January 17, 2021 at 2:29 pm

This is a really entertaining game

  22. willedav said, on January 17, 2021 at 2:41 pm

Just got in and Henne (!) hits Hill and then Kelco for big gains.

    • willedav said, on January 17, 2021 at 2:43 pm

I hexed him as he throws wildly and it’s picked off in end zone

  23. alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 2:46 pm

What the hell did Hennie see there? It was just a no go throw with no chance!

  24. alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 3:07 pm

Gutsy call paid off for KC..

    • willedav said, on January 17, 2021 at 3:18 pm

Henne scramblng and diving to get that close was helluva play too.
You’re right though Kat, nice play call by Walrus fooled everyone including Romo.

      • alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 3:24 pm

Yeah Walrus is truly the leader of being the utmost River boat gambler!

    “HENNETHINGISPOSSIBLE”

  27. Flavor said, on January 17, 2021 at 3:32 pm

Am i reading this right? I might not be I’m on my pH. I think I win if TB covers unless MSD nails the total cold then we tie. Clown wins if NO wins unless NO wins and MSD hits the total cold? Correct me if I’m wrong before I get home or I’ll take a closer look at it then

  28. unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 3:46 pm

Fucked. Mahomes covers if he don’t get his bell rung.

And NO gets a huge return.

Love the Chuck Berry song in the whatever fucking ad. Basically the Johnny B Goode riff. Saw him at the venerable Circle Star Theater in San Carlos. Speaking of San Carlos.

And yeah, Don Davenport coached my oldest daughter in fast pitch softball years ago. We lived a block away from Burton Park.

    • unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 3:53 pm

And Geico finally got one right with Tag Team.

  29. unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 3:51 pm

These fucking penalties are so stupid. Not a huge call there but say that was 3rd and 12. . .

A lot of skepticism about this remark…

      • alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 4:29 pm

I’ll say, it didn’t look like he knew if he was playing in Kansas City are Cleveland..
But either way there is no way he doesn’t play against Buffalo no matter how much he has to pay off the doctors..

      • djloo27 said, on January 17, 2021 at 5:00 pm

I was amazed that he ran into the locker room.
Maybe he didn’t realize the play was over…

    This is incredible..
7,785 days ago April 4th 1999 Tom Brady at Michigan faces Drew Brees from Purdue! Michigan won big..
Now the 2 fossils are playing in a wildcard game to advance to the championship round at 43 Brady 42 Brees

    • unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 4:08 pm

Neither of them look very good so far

    • unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 4:09 pm

  33. unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 5:17 pm

Need more GD touchdowns. Just need to combine for 119 points for the win. Or not. I got fucked by the Mahomes injury.

  34. alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 5:39 pm

Don’t see 93 more points in this one Skippy.

  35. unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 5:56 pm

Aikman is full of shit. If Sanders takes the route higher, it’s a shittier throw than it already was.

    Come on TB!

  36. unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:00 pm

Just waiting for the Saints to Saint this one away. I guess I’m out of the running unless both sides score 28 in the 4th.

    At 149 right now.

Fuck this. Saints getting a shitload of candy-ass calls.

    • Flavor said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:12 pm

you don’t have a chance. Only me and/or Clown have a chance of going 3-1. And the total only gets you 3 points unless you nail it cold then you get 4

      • Flavor said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:13 pm

the winner is going to be me or Clown

  37. Flavor said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:11 pm

  38. alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:14 pm

Makeup by the Refs when they got rear ended by the Rams on that ridiculous non call PI play..

  39. Flavor said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:24 pm

actually the winner is me or Clown if there isn’t a tie, I think it still works out that way but I’m not sweating that yet. I just need TB to cover

  40. unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:31 pm

    And there it is.

  41. Bozo said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:32 pm

  43. Flavor said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:36 pm

again, we can sort this out if there’s a tie thus negating this game, but if I go 3-1 nobody beats me right? Even if someone else has the total?

    • alleykat69 said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:44 pm

      I’m confused don’t u have 2 losses Flav Baltimore &Cleveland?

Cleveland covered the 10 point spread.

  44. unca_chuck said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:37 pm

The Saints are the Atlanta Braves of foootball.

    • Flavor said, on January 17, 2021 at 7:01 pm

Are they? They had a good defense this year and a QB who was clearly on his last legs (arm). The Saints weren’t a legitimate threat this year, not like those STACKED Braves teams from back in the day. Bad comparison.

  45. gianthead said, on January 17, 2021 at 6:39 pm

Flav, I had Browns +10….not likely making a difference now with this last Brees int…
