A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

What Will NFLBBB3 Look Like?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on January 19, 2021

There are all kinds of people in this world. People on my list. Some of those people stay on my list. I don’t like those people. And then there are those who are in the circle of trust. The honor club. That’s all you people. Your debt is paid in full. I bought more bitcoin at paypal with your money…….

I have an exciting new format for the weekend games. Will post it on Thurs or so once we get a little more clarification about Mahomes.

I always liked that JFK quote, “Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names.”

  2. Flavor said, on January 19, 2021 at 7:20 am

i’ll just throw the first draft of the format at you now and you can comment:
Since it’s only 2 games we need to throw some individual prop bets in there. I was thinking something like this:
pick the winner of each game against the spread: 2 points each game
pick the total of combined points scored: 2 points
pick the winner of the super bowl (no point spread just the winner): 4 points
pick the player who has the most rushing yards: 1 point
pick the player with the most recieving yards: 1 point
pick the QB with the most passing yards: 1 point
pick the total number of successful field goals kicked by both teams: 1 point but you have to nail this number correctly to get the point
pick the total number of punts by both teams: again, 1 point, but you have to nail this number correctly to get the point.
that’s 15 total points with the possiblity of the SB being important if there are enough guys bubbled up at the top.
    $20.

      Thoughts:
You are giving yourself an awful lot of homework…

Mac is right, tremendous comeback W by golden state vs. Lakers. Kerr shuffled bench guys around a bit; at one point he had Wanamaker in there with Curry, a move I like. Great effort up and down small ball lineup. Nelson would have been proud of it.

Lakers had Wiseman off floor for much of second half, a double digit lead, and yet: let Warriors outscore them in paint by not defending the rim, and despite always having 2 tallest players in game on floor, not posting them up and instead launching bricks from outside.
Lakers backcourt sucks. Schroeder had one good quarter and then was awful at both ends. LA had ball in his hands down 2 after Curry missed floater with 10 seconds left and coach had to call time with 1.7 as they were fumbling around. Then only shot they got was fadeaway 3 from LBJ that missed. Not smart b-ball and it cost them.

And in a how does this make you feel post, Shea has column with Harris evaluations “GM bullish on SF roster additions”. As Shea put it, “the Giants set out to fill several voids this offseason, and they’re well into the process after acquiring seven players who were added to the 40 man roster.”

Harris scouting report goes over: DeSclafani, Wood, Casali, pen guys Wisler and Brebbia, utillity IF Vosler and converted reliever Dedniel Nunez from Rule 5 draft.

I’m virtually expiring outta sheer joyful excitement that baseball’s wealthiest owners have provided us with such a wonderful cast of characters. Now for a word from our sponsor…

  5. Flavor said, on January 19, 2021 at 7:41 am

and can’t believe GS won that game. When I went to bed, the last thing I did was check twitter and there were untold numbers of Bay Area scribes tweeting that the Warriors aren’t ready for this type of team, holes being exposed, etc. Oops. I guess they figured something out mid game?

    • willedav said, on January 19, 2021 at 7:53 am

at one point in 3rd they cut lead to 2 at 70-68, then Lakers pushed it back up to 11. After Wiseman’s charge into Davis for 5th foul Kerr took him out and never put him back in–GS won with small lineup Green Paschall or Looney who finished game at 4/5. Green played long time with 5 fouls and scored twice inside late, once when he obviously traveled dragging pivot foot and got away with it. Lakers totally pissed this away as GS owned last few minutes–Coach LBJ and Vogel own this one.

how bout the Mets GM sending dick pics to a REPORTER and thinking that would be no problem.

    • Macdog said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:31 am

Cohen fired the GM this morning, no fucking around. The Wilpons would’ve hemmed and hawed for weeks until finally being pressured into getting rid of the guy.

    • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:43 am

The dick identification scene from Porky’s was truly hysterical…

    • Carstie Clausen said, on January 19, 2021 at 11:16 am

No wonder the Mets were the Mutts over the past few. Of course a lot of guys do tend to think with their dicks—particularly in their teens and early 20’s. Obviously this guy was a bit older. No doubt he will find himself in P.C. hell now and no more career in baseball.

yahoo story said Mahomes is out for Browns game and does have concussion

    • Flavor said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:15 am

      whoa

    • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:35 am

I’m not seeing that anything is definite yet.
I checked yahoo and everywhere else…

    • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:38 am

You might be misreading something, Willie.
The story you’re referencing might be referring to him not returning to the Browns game the other day.
It’s not about next week vs. Bills.
Now apologize for taking 10 years off my life!

      • willedav said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:52 am

Loo you’re right he is still in concussion protocol but nothing for certain as to availability for Sunday yet. Yahoo did take down that story; only thing I can find is update from yesterday and one from ESPN today talking about steps he has to go through in order to be able to play.
Sorry I set off alarm bells! dunno why yahoo would have had that story still up this morning but I didn’t check time it was posted.

  8. alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2021 at 9:33 am

Everyone is in denial including Mahomes status for the Bills game.Hey it’s for the SB even if he has a headache on Friday he’s not going to tell anyone.Walrus is like, well did u see him sprint to the locker room for further evaluation? he looked fine. The team doctors? They would pass him in a minute in fear of losing they’re job.But finally I believe the league has taken that equation out of the picture and are more protected for a players safety..
I still say Mahomes play it will have to be extra careful out there ( if that’s even possible)and Reid better not dial up any stupid plays involving him..

    • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2021 at 11:55 am

Roseboro played 3 days after Marichal split his head open…

      • sandog said, on January 19, 2021 at 2:19 pm

        FUN FACT

  9. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2021 at 9:57 am

I am not seeing anything definitive on Mahomes, other than he is in the five-step concussion protocol process, and it is up in the air re: him playing against the Bills, or not.

  10. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2021 at 11:35 am

Flav – I know you listed a “draft” for the NFLBBB3. Whatever shakes-out, I am in.

I would prefer to keep the SB out of this weekend’s contest and have it solely on the conference championship games with weekend, so we get closure after this weekend’s games. We could then T-up an NFLBBB4 for the SB (pick against the spread with no even point spread/no ties, total points, and other prop bets to round out the SB contest). My 2.5 cents.

  11. unca_chuck said, on January 19, 2021 at 1:15 pm

Pascal played real well down the stretch. Wiggins hit some big treys late in the 3rd.

  12. sandog said, on January 19, 2021 at 2:19 pm

I think Chi makes a good point. We need a clear winner to emerge and get paid at the end of every weekend.
You can come up with something robust for this weekend and then go back into the lab and work your magic all over again for the Super Bowl.

    • chipower9 said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:50 pm

      What he said ^^^

  13. mrsprtdude said, on January 19, 2021 at 3:03 pm

And apparently my strength is picking the total so lets just go back to that:)

  14. alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2021 at 3:28 pm

HOF pitcher, longtime announcer Don Sutton dead at 75 after a long battle with cancer..
    RIP Don..🙏

  15. Flavor said, on January 19, 2021 at 4:51 pm

ok, no SB bet. I still think that would be a good one since there are 4 teams with a legit chance to win but if you guys want to leave it off the board I’ll leave it off the board…….

  16. Flavor said, on January 19, 2021 at 5:33 pm

i shared this on twitter ill share it here too. My dad took me to a day game in the late 70’s, Don Sutton was pitching. Everyone was hootin’ and hollerin’ and at one point I decided to join the fray and I screamed (as loud as I could) “KILL SUTTON!!!!” Everyone looked back at me like I was insane, my dad gave me a “you better STFU” southern stare. I’ll never forget what a piece of shit I felt like, I just slumped down in my seat and don’t think I said another thing the rest of the game.
Anyway, fast forward to today and he’s actually dead.
Weird the shit you remember from when you were a kid.

    • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2021 at 5:44 pm

      You didn’t do anything wrong!
At a baseball game, killing the pitcher means hit ’em hard – not physically murdering him.
Let yourself slide. It’s my favorite thing to do for myself…

      • Flavor said, on January 19, 2021 at 5:47 pm

in the moment I remember calling for his actual death. Kill him, wtf do I care, right? I didn’t think he was going to actually die I just thought that’s the type of shit you were supposed to yell at a baseball game. Hey, it was over the top I learned a good lesson that day.

      • chipower9 said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:54 pm

Sound advice. I’ve got to try some of that “let yourself slide” stuff.

      • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2021 at 9:02 pm

It really works, Chi. We all screw up at times. Let yourself slide!
And when I’m really down, I find holding hands with myself can be quite comforting, too…

      • chipower9 said, on January 20, 2021 at 7:46 am

Thanks, Loo. I especially like the holding hands with oneself to comfort oneself. Genius.

Post-pandemic, I need another trip to NYC to hang out with you guys.

  17. Flavor said, on January 19, 2021 at 7:24 pm

at least Sutton lived another 40+ years after I wished death upon him. So, today’s outcome doesn’t make me feel too guilty.

  18. djloo27 said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:37 pm

The word “compiler” might have been invented for Sutton.
He wasn’t close to a HOFer.
Just a very good pitcher who lasted forever….

    • willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 7:21 am

Agreed. He wasn’t dominant or ace like Koufax or Hershiser, merely good for long time.

  19. alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2021 at 8:40 pm

    Talk about a ridiculous OVERPAY…
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed OF George Springer
to a 6/150 million dollar contract! For a career .270 hitter that’s never
even drove in 90 RBI’s on a cheating Astros team lol 😂 this one will blowup in the Jays faces..

  20. mrsprtdude said, on January 19, 2021 at 10:16 pm

he is like madbum in his prime. Not gaudy stats, but one of best post season hitters ever.

  21. willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 7:25 am

One thing in Springer’s favor will be park factor of rest of division. He gets to hit in Fenway Yankee Stadium and Camden, all very good places to hit and on top of that vs. less than stellar pitching staffs. Full season that’s 27 games in hitter friendly yards, plus his home park.
Might not excel for length of contract, but wouldn’t surprise me if he has few very good seasons at plate.

    • willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 7:31 am

Also joining good lineup that was 3-4 in AL for runs hits bombs slugging OPS, and mostly young guys like Biggio Bichette Teoscar Hernandez Gurriel Jr. Tellez Vlad Jr. who could be future stars.

  22. willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 10:14 am

wow Jays signed M. Brantley too. Always liked watching him hit; used to watch when Stros came into Oaktown to play A’s. 2019 he led AL in opposite field hits and consistently beat the shift with line drive to LF. Also took one of Blake Treinen’s breaking balls out the yard down RF line. And is one of tougher guys to strike out, all too rare these days and first thing older retired guys notice about how game is played today.

  23. alleykat69 said, on January 20, 2021 at 10:32 am

I like Toronto’s aggressive approach with free agents.Lots of players in the past would never consider going north of the border but money talks, plus they have a lot of young talent like Willied mentioned to blend in well with the older vets now in Springer&Brantley..and didn’t they sign that pitcher Yates? as well?another good move.
One thing I would do if I’m the Jays is strictly use Brantley as a DH, he such a great hitter you don’t want him to risk injuries in the field anymore which he’s had his share of in the past. Keeping him healthy would be a major key for the Jays going forward..

  24. Flavor said, on January 20, 2021 at 12:43 pm

do yuo guys remember I used to tell this story and nobody remembered it and I couldn’t even find anything archived about it? THIS DUDE remembers it to!!!

    • willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 2:01 pm

Saw that story online. Yes Jenkins mentions every single Center from Wilt and Nate the Great to Chief JBC and other assorted stiffs too numerous to mention.
Great pics though, of Wilt Thurmond and one of Attles talking to Ray and George Johnson (in full ‘fro).
And no he didn’t mention Ray walking out, just that Warriors lost to Suns in playoffs

  25. djloo27 said, on January 20, 2021 at 1:22 pm

My cat and Patrick Mahomes are all I really care about…

  26. alleykat69 said, on January 20, 2021 at 1:28 pm

Your cat is probably healthier then Patrick Mahomes right now..
The good news he is practicing with the team today even under concussion protocol (can’t quite understand that?) so if that’s the case I’m sure he will be playing even if payoffs are in order..

    • chipower9 said, on January 20, 2021 at 8:55 pm

Mahomes is practicing under concussion protocol. It is all no-contact practice at this, point, Kat. And no mention as to where he is in the process, or if he will play. .

  27. Carstie Clausen said, on January 20, 2021 at 1:32 pm

With all the Hot-Stove action picking up, about all the skinflint owners of the Giants are picking up is more stock options. Disgusting. We still need a suitable #1. Gausman is a reasonable #2. No. 3 is a black-hole. #4 is cluttered with 3 so-sos and maybes and Webb might pass the mustard as a #5. Where is the closer and the versatile L.H. bat?

    • unca_chuck said, on January 20, 2021 at 1:39 pm

We aren’t spending money until Belt, Posey, Crawfish and Longo are gone.

      • djloo27 said, on January 20, 2021 at 2:17 pm

And Cueto, whose deal is done before Longoria’s…

      • sandog said, on January 20, 2021 at 2:21 pm

Currently 10th highest payroll in MLB for 2021, and that is the lowest we’ve ranked in years.
Stix–if you wanna say these owners have not spent wisely—go for it. But to say they don’t spend on players (which is a constant refrain on here) is simply not true.

      • alleykat69 said, on January 20, 2021 at 2:33 pm

        Yep that’s for sure!
So in the meantime it’s more dumpster diving looks..
And the latest they are checking out in the “assisted living players”
is Anbail Sanchez (37) and actually a guy I mentioned awhile back
Julio Teheran only 31 a bust last year are 2? But still a guy with good stuff if he gets
his shit together with a new start under new pitching coaches. He could compete for the 5th spot
while maybe they give Webb more seasoning in the minors for awhile.

      • sandog said, on January 20, 2021 at 3:07 pm

I like Anibal Sanchez. First time I ever went to Citi Field I had seats right behind the Met’s dugout and watched him outpitch DeGrom and get the win.
Z-man’s approach to this year is starting to remind me of those George Allen Redskins teams. And as long as they are all on one year deals, I am totally down with it! I’d rather watch Alex Wood or Sanchez pitch than Suarez.

      • chipower9 said, on January 20, 2021 at 9:02 pm

Longo is a year after those three. And there is still the question of how many games, fans or no fans, and subsequently revenue. So, I don’t expect a sense of normalcy and a loosening of the purse strings until 2022.

2021 will be a crap shoot, at best, IMO.

  28. unca_chuck said, on January 20, 2021 at 1:38 pm

This musta been 76-77? Don’t remember that, I remember the Suns knocking them out in the playoffs in 76. I do remember Ray saving a dolphin’s life tho, at Marine World when it was in Redwood shores.

    • sandog said, on January 20, 2021 at 2:17 pm

The dolphin/beach ball story is legendary with Yohan!!

Paul Westphal threw down a vicious dunk on Phil Smith to cap off that series. Westphal really was a helluva player. Completely ambidextrous iirc.

    • unca_chuck said, on January 20, 2021 at 4:09 pm

Saw game 1 and 5 of that series. By that point we were up 3-2. Smith and Wilkes were so bad ass out there.

      • willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 4:27 pm

wow that must have been cool. Barry was still around, plus local guy Charles Johnson from sequoia.
Suns had Ricky Sobers Alvan Adams Awtrey from Santa Clara, Keith Erickson from UCLA.
That was iirc only year Gus Williams played for GS, tremendous player.

  29. willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 2:33 pm

Huh. MLBTR said Jays refuted the story on Toronto signing Brantley, and now it appears he’s agreed on 2 yr deal to return to Stros after all.

  30. alleykat69 said, on January 20, 2021 at 2:44 pm

Heard Brantley is signing for 2/32 with the Stros.
Maybe the money wasn’t there in Toronto?
If the money was close I don’t see why he would not go
to the Jays, cause any player that hits F/A with the Stros
u would think they would want to distance themselves from this cheating organization..

  31. willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 3:18 pm

Let’s hope Alex wood stays healthy enough to pitch and SD gets his wish.

  32. willedav said, on January 20, 2021 at 3:22 pm

Over the last 2 seasons Wood has appeared in 16 games and thrown 48 innings. He did have successful 7 post season innings last year for Dogs.
so…who appears in more games for Giants this season—Wood or Duggar?

    • chipower9 said, on January 20, 2021 at 9:04 pm

Duggar will be busy digging his grave, so I go with Wood.

  33. alleykat69 said, on January 20, 2021 at 3:58 pm

    Lol 😂

  34. alleykat69 said, on January 20, 2021 at 5:41 pm

As I recall the Warriors we’re going for back to back titles when they faced the Suns as a heavy favorite. Then for some reason Barry whined&pouted over BS over the team and they blew series lead and lost 😡 in 7?
2 in a row sure would of been sweet back then..

  35. Flavor said, on January 20, 2021 at 5:44 pm

    • Flavor said, on January 20, 2021 at 6:27 pm

i know he was just a random guy during his playing days but when I was just starting to get into the game he was one of those names that stuck with me. My dad taught me how to read reading the Sporting Green. I still remember him helping me pronounce Sadek’s last name properly……..
