NFLBBB Round 3
Ok, Loo and I are busy cookin’ up a non-monitary prize for the SB so this will probably be the last NFLBBB (for $$$ at least). This is the scoring system:
Pick the winner of GB (-3.5) vs TB considering the spread: 2 points
pick the winner of KC (-3.5) vs Buffalo considering the spread: 2 points
Closest to the total points scored in both games: 2 points
Correctly identify the RB with the most rushing yards on the weekend: 2 points
Correctly identify the QB with the most passing yards on the weekend: 2 points
Correctly identify the player with the most receiving yards on the weekend: 2 points
Guess the total number of successful FG’s kicked by all 4 teams: 2 points (must guess this number exactly to earn the 2 points–if no one guesses it exactly this prop bet is off the board).
Guess the total number of punts by all 4 teams: 2 points (must guess this number exactly to earn the two points–if no one guesses this number exactly this prop bet is off the board)
Ok, $20 entry, that’s 16 points total. In the event of a TIE at the top whoever got closest to the TOTAL NUMBER OF POINTS SCORED BY BOTH TEAMS will be the victor. if there is still a tie those contestants will split the prize $$$$.
And as we know very clearly by now, to the victor go the spoils……..
as usual, I already emailed my picks to Katie with a time stamp before any other entries have arrived in my inbox
Chron had column from Shea discussing Giants and closer. Harris went around in circles, talking about making a trade and at same time hoping someone emerges from pack and takes over the role.
I’m suspicious any in house guy can do that and be good enough consistently, even Moronta. Obviously, blown saves in 2020 cost Giants some Ws. So I wonder how important Giants mgmt thinks closer really is, and how they plan this season—let things sort themselves out in house? Closer by committee, in other words fluid depending on who is available,. whomever they are playing yada yada. Or still looking at market?
They aren’t really serious about this season. This isn’t the 20013 Astros, but this is a 75 win team.
If there was no such thing as COVID, what do you think home attendance would look like this year?
Mm probably lot like 2019. No word from Baer yet on keeping archways closed. If fans allowed in, I bet he wants them opened back up.
It was ~14,000 in the dark days of early 2019. Before the Flap jumpstart.
Fans or seagulls?
FUKKIN WORDPRESS. It happened again. I put some thought into a commentary and then got their instructions to re-up/check-in. So once again, everything I had energized disappeared into cyberspace.
BTW: Anyone got info on an ergonomic keyboard that would work with the new iMac? The one they included is waaaaay too hair-triggered and seems to be made for the fingers of some tiny Oriental woman. Several times daily, my middle finger is a bit heavy and a “D” magically appears on the screen. There doesn’t seem to be any way to mechanically adjust the keys to not be so hypersensitive. My ca 1998 iMac did have that feature. Systems Preferences here does not seem to address that. To piss me off even more the spacer key is not synchronized with the sensitivity of the keys, so there is no rythym to the finger pressure. Arrrgh.
“tiny Oriental woman,” lol, god bless you Stix. So, I am completely off all things Mac so I can’t help you there. One piece of advice is to make sure you’re signed into WP in the comment box section before you start typing anything.
Just read a couple blurbs from the Foghornies. More dumpster-diving to deepen the rotation? They speculate that SF may be considering lowball offers to either or both Anibel Sanchez, 36, and Julio Teheran. Each of them has had okay seasons along with poor performances in 2020. Building depth might salve the dog-days of late summer, but not much to expect there.
Contrastingly, a modest ray of optimism came from our putative #5, Logan Webb, who touted the talents of LH starter, 22 Y.O. Seth Corry, who had one helluva dominant season in 2019, where he dominated Sally League hitters at Augusta, with stats reminiscent of MadBum for the same venue. Webb seems to think Corry has ace potential. He’s also high on Kyle Harrison, a Concord, Cali 18 Y.O. whom SF gave a way over the slot contract last summer.
We should keep an eye on Webb himself. He failed to pitch to his potential in last year’s trial and error season. However, if we can judge from his Mi L. records, he could become a steady #3 or possibly even a #2 by 2022. Decent uptick from #5 (in terms of juniority) to a modest #3 possible this coming season would be a not unreasonable projection,
Jeeze guys…I never realized there was another “Big Flavor” running around until noticing a Jello packet that my sister had opened up. Wishing my old 76 y.o. noodle had developed the tech-smarts to do a screen-shot of the thing. What a hoot. Seems its harder and harder to be and stay original in this fast-paced day and age.
Other than Corry, there aren’t any SPs that have been at that level as Stix mentioned. Btw Webb and Beede, that’s it for young SPs in 2022. imo Giants would have been better served to acquire more proven vet this off season rather than trying to get 2-3 next year. Gausman deSclafani and Wood all 1 year deals only right?
They will have similar issues with position guys–only Bart and Ramos have played above A ball so none of the others will be ready for MLB til 2023 at earliest. So why not grab a proven power hitting RH bat, of which they currently out of stokc on, now instead of trying to fill 2-3 starting spots a year later?
Makes sense to me. Get at least a plausible #3 on a 2-3 year contract as well as that RH bat and a viable closer. At current budget levels there would still be $$$ left over as compared w 2017 budget of $220M+.
I think u just forget this season Stix, there not going to make any splash on a bat are pitcher till the dreaded contracts of Crawford,Cueto,Belt& Posey are off the books. And u still have an extra year on Longo’s .
But whoever becomes F/A next year the Giants better have no excuses with 4 huge contracts ending, they should be BUYERS then even if Z has proven he won’t go more then 2 years on a player that might have to change to get a talented player..
Justin Case the Rockies are really hurting financially, would there be even a remote chance that they would swap Trevor Story for a fully prepaid Brandon Crawford, plus our #3 O,F. prospect Canario, plus+ say our #5 starter prospect (maybe Beede?) and perhaps our 3 or 4 reliever pipeliner? Or, if they are looking primarily for offense, how bout Solano instead of the pitchers.
Some teams have made interestingly creative trades, why not the Giants thinking outside their current box?
Not quite sure what you mean by fully prepaid Crawford, but the Giants don’t seem to be in the mix with any big names…
Loo: Maybe I was being a bit frisky with wordsmithery. Prepaid means SF would pay his full salary for 2021. So it would be a viable replacement shortstop plus prospects for the Rox. Money in the bank for Manafort.
Just can’t see it, Stix.
I was probably the foremost trade concocter around here and I got nuthin’.
Like many are saying, we’ll know where we’re going after 2021.
Maybe a little clue at the trade deadline…
I am in on the NFLBBB3, Flav. Picks in before kick-off?
Sooner the better but yeah
Yeah, this talk of signing players is not in the cards now. Doubly so during this pandemic when most teams are reluctant to throw money around when they aren’t getting any revenue from their $40.00 parking spots, $20.00 crab sandos, and $18.00 craft beers.
Bauer supposedly down to Mets & Angels – and not for one stupid year which I never believed for a second…
RIP Mike Sadek. The Sheik! Decent enough backup catcher in the dark days of the 70s. Hit very few home runs, but was the jokester of the clubhouse. His teammates did this for him after one of his home runs..
Bummer Unca! We both graduated from the Richfield, Mn. High School, as my Mom graduated with Wes Westrum in their small N. Minnesota H.S. Saddens me as he was a couple years younger, a ’46 model. Didn’t know he was the “class clown” for Los Gigantes. Maybe drinking all those aluminum beers was bad for his pineal gland…and his liver. R.I.P, Mike. Did have some of your BBCs in my Giants collection.
Recalling him as a sophomore as not being a very big guy, at the time maybe 5’7″ and 145 pounds. Usually guys with that frame hang around for a long time. Man! More than half the guys in my grade school class are no longer vertical, ditto a chunk of the girls. Too many early outs.
Dying is the new living…
that is a great picture.
How old do you have to be to know what the term “press” meant?
Yeah, Sheik was Montefusco’s catcher iirc. Press as in free press? Press man coverage? Press as in weight lifting? Laundry? Mob hit?
Easy Trivia:
What legendary basketball player was coached in college by his dad “Press”?
your trivia is not easy.
If you’re over 60, it’s a lay-up…
I’m 52 and I barely understand the question
I guess this is the latest on Mahomes…
https://nypost.com/2021/01/21/patrick-mahomes-injury-one-hurdle-left-before-full-clearance/
i ain’t no independent nuerologist but I know this: No fucking WAY the league is gonna stand for Mahomes to not play this weekend. No how no chance. If Mahomes doesn’t clear protocol I will play the NFLBBB for fun this weekend. ie, I will contribute $20 and play but I won’t be able to win.
NFL isn’t letting Chad fucking Henne or whatever his name lead the Chiefs on the field with these type of ratings at stake.
You guys should be impressed by this Quickley kid on the Knicks.
Plays like a vet and shoots about 90% from the stripe…
he’s one I’m excited to watch play tonight. Obi, too. And it’s a Burks revenge game, wonder how much he’ll play tonight?
Kentucky kid right? The guy on the Spurs, another Calipari kid Keldon Johnson #3 who started last night, was the shits.
Pete Maravich?
Yep props to Mac, Pistol’s dad. Supposedly tempestuous relationship too iirc.
I’m under 60, purely a guess.
Curry with careless turnover there. Plus he’s given up 2 3s to guys he supposed to be guarding. Fitz GS play by play questioning strategy of allowing Green to shoot 3s. we’ll see but that is low pct shot for him
This is the good Barrett so far.
He’s maddeningly erratic…
warriors guys were saying, “he doesn’t look like 22% shooter.”
Kerr runs great o/b plays, but Noel is supposed to bump Wiggins not let him roll uncontested to hoop.
Loo Curry sits for first half of 2nd quarter, with Green. Last night they were up big on Spurs, who then cut lead down to 5 points. Curry and Green came back in, GS went off on them again and never looked back, winning bu 25. So see how second unit does—they’ve been good overall with Paschall the Nova guy smaller lineup
Paschall tearing it up. Not good night for headband guys so far.
man there are times Green just needs to calm down and stfu. He threw a stupid pass and now gets himself ejected.
turns out he didn’t deserve it—yelling at Wiseman, ref thought it was at him. New guy surprised his 2 buddies didn’t square him up. Green has to sit which sucks.
Mannion in there, idea is he takes Green’s place as de facto point and Curry can run around off screens. Wanamaker plays this role too in 2nd quarter.
Don’t want to post about politics, but I must say, got a kind of warm smiley feeling watching the video from Jimmy Kimmel of animated US icons doing “hey hey hey goodbye”….
Wow rhx!
Politics or now…loved it, Paul. Thanks, Brother!
Great Video thanks P/A!
