A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Bang Bang

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on January 31, 2021

Yo, I wanted me some Staffy Taffy but two 1’s and a 3 is way too much to pay. The Rams already gave away another 1 for Ramsey so I’m not sure what there plan is if Stafford gets hurt. The haul Detroit got for him effectively ends any dream of Lynch trading for an established QB. If that’s what the price is what would it be for Watson or Rodgers? Yikes.

And now for something completely different. Blade and his guns. In times like these I think owning a fire arm or two is a good idea….

    is this dude for real?

    • Winder said, on January 31, 2021 at 8:28 am

blade- is that a 2 3/4″ 44 mag or a 38? I had a 44 just like it. I also loved spending time cleaning my guns after firing them, all part of the process. The guns are not violent it’s the people.

      • blade3colorado said, on January 31, 2021 at 8:55 am

Just under 2″ wheelgun Winder. Specifically a Smith and Wesson 637 Airweight with DA/SA, that fires .38 Special and +P rounds. This gun is very snappy in double action (DA) and obviously, I am a better shot when firing single action. I was surprised a bit at the recoil, but as you well know, the shorter the barrel, the more likely that will happen. I like my Beretta PX4 Storm the best, but the Glock 26 is not far behind. I shoot accurately with both at 7 to 10 yards.

I was also better with the S&W model 19 357 mag than my 45 or 9mm auto’s. I know it was the handgrip it just fit perfectly. i had an Astro 44 mag 2 3/4″ it was pretty much a little cannon but fun to shoot.

      • Winder said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:30 am

Astra. Well, this is a baseball blog after all.

      • blade3colorado said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:44 am

Sheesh, that K-frame Model 19 357 magnum is a lot of gun Winder. You will find this hilarious.

      • Winder said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:53 am

Mine never kicked like that. In fact it was one of my most steadiest firearms that I had. That was probably a very hot load to make it kick like that.

      • Winder said, on January 31, 2021 at 10:03 am

I just watched again and it was a 500 mag. I have never shot one of those i have seen em in the books. That is about as much gun as anyone should have.

I just read on rotoworld that the Texans wout take 2 1st rd picks and an established player. See ya Jimmy. I would do that in a heartbeat.

Read something encouraging from NYT about how efficiently Britain and NHS have been at vaccinating their citizens. “Britain has a clear system of those who…are most at risk of dying from the virus. ” And further, from a GP at head of a federation of doctors, “We work through these groups with absolutely no deviation.”
As story put it, it’s the one thing the country managed to get right.

Hope America can do the same, for all of us in vulnerable age group/everyone else who has loved ones in same category. Kuiper said in Chron story he hopes to be able to do ST games live, with Jon Miller, and hopes to be vaccinated by then and ready to travel.

    • xoot said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:24 am

What? A national healthcare system is efficiently vaccinating its nation? I’ll be damned. I’ll be on the phone first thing tomorrow morning to Medicare and blue cross to see what they offer.

Yeah I love that scene in Taxi Driver, a beautiful smorgasbord of guns..Loo!
Just like even what Clint said in Dirty Harry :This .44 magnum is the most powerful handgun, which will blow your head clear off! In all this confusion I can’t remember if I fired 6 shots are just 5? Do you feel lucky punk?
As the punk finally says: I’ve gots to know? A smirking Clint, puts his bad boy .44 up close and pulls the trigger, click as the criminal says Son of a Bitch!!

    • blade3colorado said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:31 am

At 1.25, basically that’s my S&W 637 Airweight, quite similar to what DeNiro is holding – all of them are based on the S&W J-frame and commonly called a .38 snub nose Model 36 or Colt Detective Special, precursors to my revolver. Ruger, Taurus, and others all make J-frame snub nose wheel guns. Very dependable, but only hold 5-6 rounds.

    • Winder said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:35 am

      That was appropriate.

  5. alleykat69 said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:15 am

49ers better up they’re game if they want to land Watson now, cause right now they have the 4th worse QB in they’re own division! Wilson,Murray &Stafford blow right by Jimmy G in talent that’s a fact Jack..
Plus all 3 are durable players as well not like fragile Jimmy..

    • Winder said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:37 am

Totally agree. We should really make a push for Watson. I still wouldn’t give up Bosa, warner, or Kittle in the deal though.

    • willedav said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:43 am

mm thx. I agree with most (not all) of that take. I’d rather see Niners hang on to valuable pieces and draft/trade for other areas of need. As to division, they beat Murray with a chump backup, and they own Rams already. Getting to f-ing seachickens is another story, but that’s more on defensive upgrades and new co-ordinator figuring out what to do with who he has.

Fanside’s Jay Buhler places the Giants 12th in his NL power rankings. LaBumbos in lead, followed by Hotlanta and then the Dagos. Personally, I’d switcheroo on the latter two. He still ranks the Reds and Cubs higher than I would have thought, but we shall see.

SA has few races back on turf today. Rosario Prat Hernandez Rispoli all rode winners yesterday, and Abel Cedillo had 3 including feature Rob Lewis with Medina Spirit.
Flav, curious to know what you thought of that race with 3 horses vying for lead at the end and the winner.

    • Flavor said, on January 31, 2021 at 2:10 pm

they went fast early and came home slow late. It appeared that Medina Spirit was extra game on the rail but when you look at the half (46.2) and the final time 1:46.1, they walked home.

  11. Flavor said, on January 31, 2021 at 1:37 pm

Nuggets just completed the first half v Utah and went 15-17 from 3-land. That has to be a record for that many attempts in a game

  12. Flavor said, on January 31, 2021 at 2:07 pm

Blade what did all the guns cost you?

  13. blade3colorado said, on January 31, 2021 at 2:40 pm

With tax – Glock 26 9mm handgun ($589.86), Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm handgun ($579.14), S&W 637 .38 Special revolver ($461.16), Winchester SXP Marine Defender 12 gauge pump shotgun ($417.99), Ruger 10/22 Takedown rifle ($514.79), and the Beretta 1301 semiauto 12 gauge shotgun ($1,199.06) . . . Each firearm doesn’t include a DROS background check – that costs $37 and change for each weapon.

    • Flavor said, on January 31, 2021 at 3:01 pm

and how about ammo? What’s a normal amount to have for all of that and what’s ammo cost?

      • blade3colorado said, on January 31, 2021 at 3:39 pm

Due to the pandemic, not only are firearms expensive, but so is ammunition. Think of both as toilet paper. Specifically, there has been a lot of panic buying or quite a few people like me – whom have said, “Fuck this shit, I am not going to be the liberal that is punked during the apocalypse.” I use to own guns in the 80s, but sold them all and obviously with the political climate, I have reconsidered that stance.

Consequently, I have tried to buy only quality guns and attempted to limit my purchases to popular calibers, e.g., 9mm, .22LR, 12 gauge shot shells, etc. I was totally lucky in buying that 637 .38 caliber Special, insofar as buying ammo for it. I searched for over 2 months before I hit Nirvana, as I scored two boxes of 300 rounds on consecutive weeks. Similarly, I just scored 250 rounds of 9mm last week.

If you buy a gun Flavor, you have to practice with it or you wont get better. So, how much did I pay? Usually, I try to pay no more than .35 cents a round for 9mm. For .22LR, no more than .10 to .20 cents. My .38 special rounds cost about .60 cents a round. Quite expensive.

In any event, I have about 1700 rds of .22LR; 250 rds of 9mm; 450 rds of .38 Special; and 50 rounds of high brass, #4 and #6 shotshells.

who is trying another comeback last I saw. Was supposed to go to G league bubble with Warriors group but this was reported quite some time ago. Fun fact–he did go to Flav’s alma mater Palo Alto HS. I coached there for few years (20 years ago before he was there) and used to talk to guy he later played for, and watch boys team practices. Liked him a lot and coach still runs boys camp at Paly in summer, though not this past year.

  16. blade3colorado said, on January 31, 2021 at 4:13 pm

Flav, from your emails and what you have posted here, it sounds like you might pull the “trigger” on a gun purchase. Due to the pandemic, I really did not want to visit a gun range, which is highly advisable by most people to determine what firearm you are interested in buying, as they rent them there. Consequently, I decided to read about the guns I was interested in. Plenty of review articles and there are voluminous YouTube videos on firearms, including reviews. For example, on each of the firearms I own, I must have watched at least 6-12 videos for each firearm, as well as read an equal amount of review articles on each. Coupled with that, I am fortunate to live 4-5 miles from at least a dozen spots in the El Dorado forest that clearly are meant for target shooting (you can tell by all the brass empties lying about . . . bad habit by shooters. I try to pick up all my garbage, targets and brass. Leave it cleaner than what I found it). Anyway, if you have any questions, just ask. Winder and Chi are great resources as well.

thanks Blade, very interesting. I’m more interested in gathering info at this point

  18. mrsprtdude said, on January 31, 2021 at 5:37 pm

No way SF gets Watson without gutting the team. Bosa, warner and a #1 pick. Too much imo

    • Flavor said, on January 31, 2021 at 5:49 pm

yeah, I want them to find someone to replace the oft injured, underwhelming Jimmy G but when I see what these QB’s cost it’s probably just a better path to go the route of the draft.

Yeah, a 30-ounce baseball bat was always my defense weapon of choice in the house. Even had one over here for awhile but lost it somewhere. Need to find again. What’s a Kanren?

      • James said, on January 31, 2021 at 9:47 pm

A Japanese Santoku kitchen knife manufactured by Zwilling. Sharper and lighter than a chef’s knife.

“What? A national healthcare system is efficiently vaccinating its nation? I’ll be damned.” Johnson bails himself out through a system antithetical to his world view. Netanyahu’s case only a little less ironic.
