A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

NBA Action

Some big time scoring games in the NBA last night. And my call on Whiteside at 6:46pm was not quite prescient. Harden and Irving went off let’s see if they can do it on a back2back against the surprisingly good Suns. I wonder if one or both will rest……

Steph Curry is once again MVP of the league again. There, I said it…..

NYT weather story featured a pic of cars after sliding in snow from…Waco Tribune-Herald.
    Isn’t Waco home to wilcojoe?
Reminds me of walking to San Jose st. with snow on ground, briefly, in ’70s. Once and only.

Wilco give updates on the weather there like every.15 min. He’s locked in to that shit.

Been able to watch a lot of the Dubs on this trip and gladly missed the blowout against the Nets but why is this team not going out and getting a cheap vet center like Boogie to add to the mix???

Loo, I have drafted my KY boy Julius Randle the last two years in fantasy and I said it last year that IMO he is the most under-rated player in the NBA…

Looney almost back and Wiseman should be OK in a week. They have complications with roster and $$ too though I did see D Dedmon’s name mentioned by one of local writers. If they do add a guy one of the guards would eventually have to go and supposedly they are still high on Mulder Poole and Mannion. Jeremy Lin plays for their G League team in that bubble. Watched some yesterday offense was pretty good/D not so much.

funny gambling scene in Treme Season 1 story from HBO; great series. one of main characters Antoine is a trombone player trying to support no nonsense wife and baby girl. His friend Trombone Shorty has double booked himself so he gives Antoine the opportunity to play with Allen Toussaint’s band. They show them rehearsing, mostly bunch of older guys, and card games happen routinely. Mr. Antoine asks to buy in with iou for after gig, and sits in.
However, he doesn’t have much luck amid all the shit talking and laughing from others including female vocalist. When everyone is paid at the end, there are 3-4 with their hands out including the lady singer to collect their part of Antoine’s salary. Then he hears it from wife at home expecting lot more than what he brought from playing with someone as famous as Mr. Toussaint, to which he can only reply, “Toussaint is a hard man.”

THIS is bullshit. Lumping the Great Grave Duggar in with the likes of Lame-onte Wade and Lame-lin Davis

The more Dubon gets moved around would open up possibility of CF for your boy maybe. Still has to hit. Hasn’t shown any power outside Coast League and career OB of .281 ain’t gonna impress Z much.
As joke posts go, these are funny. but I’m with Blade–he’s got a great nickname but what he ain’t got is game.

The real tragedy is that the Giants still think GraveDuggar has “Obvious Upside” ???

    • Flavor said, on February 16, 2021 at 11:31 am

You’ll notice jaylin davis was listed AFTER the grave duggar in that article. That shit wasn’t by accident.

kinda only one way for GD to go Kat.
He gets any lower we’re talking DFA. Which he might get before another regular season AB with Giants.

      • alleykat69 said, on February 16, 2021 at 12:07 pm

I would think that would be the case for GD,Willied..
If anything else GD can end up down BF’s hillside as additional bone 🦴 collection remnant for his cat Carson..

Kat- The Athletic has a real good story on J. Davis this morning. I can’t copy and paste it though. it explains some things that went down last year. it doesn’t sound like the org is giving up on him.

    • alleykat69 said, on February 16, 2021 at 12:00 pm

Thanks Winder, I don’t pay for the Athletic so it only teases u for a few lines unfortunately..

      • sandog said, on February 16, 2021 at 1:33 pm

Meant to mention that as well. The article makes it sound like he is still in their plans, but I’m skeptical after the way they handled him last year.
Also, Jim Bowden did an article on the The Athletic that listed every team’s breakout prospect and he chose your boy Davis of all people for the Giants, which surprised the hell out of me.

Pirates just signed ex-Giant LH pitcher Tyler Anderson who was so-so fair with the team last go-round. So maybe SF has competition in the dumpster-diving sweepstakes.

  8. Carstie Clausen said, on February 16, 2021 at 9:24 pm

Giants news for today’s quiet blog. RH,30 Y.O. reliever Nick Tropeano signed for $1.1M with incentives added if he meets some goals. Though rather mediocre early in his career, likely what drew the notice of SF was his record last season which included a 1.15 ERA and a 28.8-6.1 K-BB ratio. Pen is loaded now, but crowded, while Rotation still shaky. Will it be the death of a thousand cuts, with starters going only. a few and then a host of arms from every which direction? Or is the strategy to begin for three frames by a reliever and then to the Rotation piece? Both AAA and AA teams will be swarming with guys ready to jump in if the bell rings.

Who? Oh the guy who missed all of 2020 and has struggled the last 3 seasons? Low risk, possible reward. Yet another swirler at the bottom of the bowl.

Slusser did say on twitter that Sanchez isn’t on 40 man yet, but within a day Giants can put roster players on 60 day disabled list (or whatever it’s called now) . Tropeano is a non roster invitee, she believed.
The way Gausman and others turned out last season, Giants could still find another diamond amidst all the rubble.
