A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Grave Duggar

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on February 23, 2021

That was a hellavu short video clip of the Gave Duggar and his new revamped swing. Notice Giants scribes didn’t release any footage of fringe guys like Jaylin Davis. Tells me Grave Duggar has the inside track to making the opening day roster. From there, he dominates..

to add to end of thread discussion:
    Belt in 2020:
    30 walks 36 Ks 149 ABs
    13 doubles 1 triple 9 HRs= 23 XBHs 1 per 6.5 ABs, fantastic slugging
    slash line .309/.425/.591 for 1.015 OPS 178 OPS+

Resolved to ignore mindless Duggar posts til Opening Day, and we’ll see who he winds up playing for, and how often.

      Doggar = RiverDog

    • Carstie Clausen said, on February 23, 2021 at 9:49 am

Could be the new hitting coaches had something to do with letting Belt do his thing, that and no managerial push to remodel him into a typically slugging first-baseman.

Recalling that I hollered on this site over and again about that issue. He’s a very selective line-drive hitter. If it comes about that he posts yet another stellar season, it should then become evident to those who have closely followed his career trajectory that he was mis-handled for many years running,

That close-call loss to the Cubs in ’16 playoffs may not have happened had BB9 been enabled to do it his way. Giants regular season victories might have been upped by a few, had Belt been on his beam.

Non-believers ignore the Grave Duggar at their own peril.
That clip yesterday was not created or solicited by any of his disciples here.
It was visual proof that the Grave Duggar has upped his game and will be heard from in a very big way…

exactly. And again, they weren’t videotaping Jaylin, right? That’s the dead giveaway.

RIP Gene Taylor, piano player who as a kid played with T Bone Walker and Big Joe Turner, and then with Lee Allen helped The Blasters explode the LA punk scene into new horizons. Great career afterward. Apparently, he froze to death at his home in Austin this past weekend.

    • willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 10:19 am

Unfamiliar with him, but what an awful story…sure there are more to come.

      • xoot said, on February 23, 2021 at 10:56 am

Check out Hollywood Bed from the Blasters second album, 81 I think. Gene T and Lee Allen showing the rockers how it’s done.

Damn. Saw him with the Fabulous T-Birds a long time ago.

    More Belt #s to crunch
    2020: home (archways closed) .383/,505./741 8 doubles 7 HRs in 81 ABs
    2020: road 5 doubles 2 HRs .221/.321/.412 68 ABs

    2019: home 13 doubles 3 triples 5 HRs in 246 ABs .228/.344/.366
    2019 road 19 doubles 12 HRs in 280 ABs .239/.375/.436

so…small sample size aided by closed archways or Kapler’s new coaches or ?
Haven’t heard anything about fans being allowed at the O but if they aren’t wouldn’t Baer keep arches closed?

    • willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 10:24 am

Power numbers—2019 Belt had XBH once every 11-12 ABs at home, once every 9 on road.
2020, once every 5-6 ABs at home, once every 10 on road.

    • alleykat69 said, on February 23, 2021 at 10:43 am

Only when the Giants are at bat, have a crew stand by to open them up for the visitors AB..

        tap an iphone.

If dome teams can decide which games to close up, why can’t the Giants?

Curry supposed to ready to go tonight in Apple. iirc he’s had some big games back there.

My friend dragged me to the Garden to see the Splash Brothers about 5 years ago and they did almost nothing.
      Dray had a big game, I think…

        Wrong again.
Texted my friend who said Klay and Dray both had huge games.

    Scott Kazmir???
Giants are scratching the paint off the inside of the dumpster now..
He hasn’t pitched since 2016? And he was done then!
Why do they continue throwing money away like that?

Jeeze Kat, why such a Doomer? Percentages are that with all those clumps of mud cast at the brick wall, one or two of them might somehow stick.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti died yesterday. Jeezus. I used to see him around City Lights Bookstore all the time. A giant who was also a Giants fan.

City Lights. Up there on North Beach and around the corner from Chinatown. Been by there many a time back in ’69 but never met the man. He was a living legend back in the Beatnik days, hanging around with the likes of Ginsburg, Kerouac, poets, philosophers, musicians and even a few down n’ outs. Didn’t. even know he was still around as he was a total Alt-lit Honcho shortly after the dinosaurs disappeared. He was one of those who defined Baghdad By the Bay, as Herb Caen used to call it.

    • Carstie Clausen said, on February 23, 2021 at 4:16 pm

Xoot: Thanks for sharing “Baseball-canto”. He had a way of blending baseball, protest, champions and chatter all into one cavalcade of calling it like he saw it. Ferlinghetti certainly was a universal soul.

Just goes to show poetry is good for the soul. Ferlinghetti had a long life and may he RIP. He was a SF treat.

  16. willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 5:15 pm

Green with 7 points already. Averages 5 a game. At other end Elfrid Payton has 10.
W’s announcer praised Q’s offensive game.
    Dunk for toppin cool.

  17. willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 5:17 pm

Hope Wiseman gets more minutes like 30 a game, 5:45 in first quarter. Looney is cool player, but no comp for talent at offensive end.

  18. willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 5:28 pm

D Rose and Noel look revived, playing well at both ends.
W’s ran highlights of Curry getting 54 here Feb 27 2013…in losing effort as Knicks won 109-105.

    • Flavor said, on February 23, 2021 at 5:46 pm

would like to see Steph shooting more tonight. Also only 16 minutes? I don’t understand why Kerr keeps treating him like a China Doll. Fucking play him

      • willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 6:09 pm

Agree. Less rest in second and fourth quarters. Having good 3rd though.

  19. willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 6:08 pm

    23-8 in 3rd Q. surprised Thibs didn’t call a timeout or two.

    • willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 6:16 pm

takes one now, 31-15 in quarter Knicks down 12.
      Love to hear Clyde feed.

  20. willedav said, on February 23, 2021 at 6:43 pm

Knicks have made this a game. Hard to figure who their top 7-8 guys are, especially at guard.

    Wiggins as well.

  26. unca_chuck said, on February 23, 2021 at 7:05 pm

I saw him in the audience a couple of times when Tom Russell performed at the cool venue, the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley.. Russell asked him to stand each time, and the crowd applauded heartily. Lots of mutual respect between the two men.

  29. mrsprtdude said, on February 23, 2021 at 10:58 pm

Kerr resting Curry for next year. Seriously. Tiger mad comminuted fractures of upper and lower tibia, crush injuries to his ankle, and surgical release of soft tissues to relieve pressure. This is wore than Alex Smith. Not to mention the trauma to his fusion, and recent discectomy. very sad. I hope he wasn’t drinking or on pain meds, a distinct possibility 6 weeks after discectomy. he spent a lot of time on his feet this weekend at the genesis open. be weird if his back didn’t hurt.

  30. mrsprtdude said, on February 23, 2021 at 10:59 pm

Tiger had.. Comminuted means fractured in more than 2 places at the top and bottom ends:(

If he was a horse, they would have put him down on the spot…

His surgeons say the Derby is definitely out, but the Travers in August is a possibility…

  31. willedav said, on February 24, 2021 at 6:55 am

Loo Warriors very inconsistent too. Curry averages 34 and they have 1 or 2 more wins than Knicks. As Flav said, Kerr sits him and Green start of 4th quarter–you saw how that worked out, GS didn’t make a basket for 5 minutes and blew 12 point lead.

  32. unca_chuck said, on February 24, 2021 at 9:31 am

Getting Looney and Wiseman back will help down the stretch.
