Dubs Rise Again?
Couldn’t think of another thread for the Grave Duggar except that he’s my main man and he should be all of yours as well. Not sure what to make of the Dubs last night. Against a decent team they probably would have been trampled with the way they started out the 4th quarter. Can the Knicks not shoot 3’s? It seems like all they do is drive to the hoop.
Bank the W, pray you can hold on to the 8 seed……
wiseman played 15, really good, minutes. that has to change. And I’d disagree, you don’t want the 8 spot to get #1 seed first round. As you asked, Kerr brought Curry in earlier than normal, which worked just fine. I don’t see any reason at all to rest him if games are close. Last night was microcosm of their season–game of runs where they play well (3rd quarter), then awful like start of 4th. Kerr has full complement beside G League players–up to him to figure out who can do what, and with whom.
the 8 spot is about the best this team has in them, in my opinion. I wouldn’t even sweat playing Utah, they have almost no playoff experience. They might be able to steal a game or two or the series from them
Sometimes the Knicks forget that the ball has a much better chance of going in
when you get your shot above the rim.
Quickley is struggling some lately.
Knox needs to start over somewhere…
that play in the 4q where Quickly passed up the 3 then dribbled the ball off his knee as he tumbled to the ground….that was…..not good
Saw Chron column about Doug Greenwald, Fresno broadcaster whose team just got demoted from Triple A to Low A. In the article it said Triple A will open April 6 across the country with MLB, rest of minor leagues lower divisions a month later on May 4.
Keeping track of Giants minor leaguers will be big deal this season. In years past McCoveyChron site (under Minor Lines heading) used to do great job of that, with game commentary and box scores of all Giants teams. Hope some site can do that again
Shea has Chron column today Solving the OF puzzle, with some interesting quotes.
First, Kapler: “We have a strong belief between Slater Dubon Yaz and LaMonte Wade that we have somebody who can take down regular reps in CF.”
Shea then writes, “Though Kapler provided a laundry list of CFs–let’s not forget Steven Duggar Heliot Ramos and Hunter Bishop who are all in camp–he hinted Dubon’s overall value which might be better suited for a super utility role.”
Kapler said he had spoken to Wade’s former coaches Baldelli from Twins and their AAA coach Skinner and said, “We’re going to get a good long look and try to figure out if he’s best positioned to play right and left exclusively or a little center as well.”
What’s this love affair with Slater?
He’s got a little power and can’t eat lunch without pulling a muscle…
In Slusser column on CFs hitting as a group Monday, she said, “Jaylin Davis…was hitting line drives to all fields.”
Kapler said of him, “He came in swinging the bat really well in the cage. We’ve challenged him and all of our player with high intensity drills in the cage and he’s been able to carry it over onto the field and really drive the baseball…”
Hope it’s not just lip service from Kotter!
He gets the least respect of any outfielder I just don’t get why? when he has as much are more talent then most of they’re outfielders. Play him!
Davis totes a pretty good tool kit, so if that driving the ball is for real, maybe he gets the chance. Young blood!! Every vampire in sight will hover and drool. How long’s it been?
hey, when the local scribes start videotaping Davis at bats and posting them on their social media then I’ll give that dude the lowest level of respect. As of right now, I snub him him.
Unable to come up with much exciting ST stuff to share, the Foghorn site is hyping Yama, Yama ha ha Gucci, noting SF Is stretching out his Arizona innings for a possible starting role. He has an opt-out clause in case he doesn’t make the 25-man, so one can assume they’re kicking those tires pretty hard. Pitchers galore, so we wonder what’s in store.
Im pretty sure the roster size now is 26. I remember because that’s one less than the number of coaches the Giants are carrying. Not counting the manager.
Thanx: My 76 Y.O. mind seems to wanna run in familiar channels.
Slater gets some rope because he’s a good Stanford alum. This weirdo affection for Lame-onte over Duggar though, that is seriously pissing me off.
mm more likely it’s OB. Last season small sample size he had OB of .408. Career vs. LHP it’s .446 about 100 points higher than vs. RHP. Just me but I think Z has definite preference in pattern here—LaStella, Wade—he values high OB guys, just like Slater, over bombs. Even Ruf had high OB last year, .370 iirc though Shea thought Ruf would be odd man out of OF mix.
Jaylin will force GraveDuggar to dig his own grave.
Yep I’ll supply the shovel Chuck if GD needs one, even the nails for his wooden coffin ⚰️
Agree Willied, Zman is totally into guys with the potential to get on base with good OBP and some power potential.
That’s not going to bode well for GD who has no power potential and has a laughable .282 OB average.
Nobody wants him,
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance,
That he will soon unfurl…
lol
california racing is dying and it’s a damn shame
Gave DVD a big high five a few years ago after we both scored on Include Betty in the Mother Goose.
He looked about 12 years old…
Once they closed Bay Meadows I lost what little ties I had to racing.
“He was kinda lighting it up, throwing strikes all over the place.” – Gabe Kapler
Gotta love them strikes all over the place.
total waste of time. Just give Grave Duggar, Yaz and Slater/Dick platoon and be done with this pretend competition
Slater? Dig/Dug? Jesus. We HAVE to have someone better than that limp noodle brigade. I’d take Ruf/Dick over them two in a New York minute.
I’m flexibile on the Slater inclusion but can’t for the life of me why anyone would consider a Giants OF this year sans Grave Duggar.
Wow. We aren’t THAT bad.
Dick Witcher passed away. Back in the Brodie days he was a clutch Dwight Clark type WR. Caught the game-winning pass against the Vikings in the 1971 playoffs when an injured John Brodie came in for a (shocking) ineffective Steve DeBer, uh, Spurrier and threw two 4th quarter TDs to win the game. We were sitting in the south end zone right where it happened. Ecstasy followed by agony the next weekend.
That of course was the Preston Riley / Roger Staubach game.
When we got home from that game, we found a bunch of Christmas presents in the bushes around our house. We interrupted the robbery, but there was a lot of shit gone so we called the cops. We were outside looking for stuff when the cops got there, and my brother who was in the bushes, and has 60% hearing loss, had a cop draw on him and say “freeze”. My bro, who didn’t see or hear him, kept walking. He shouted FREEZE!” and I distinctly heard the hammer click, and I shouted “Whoa whoa whoa!!! He can’t hear you!!!! He lives here!”
The rest of the family was in Sun Valley, ID, but me, my bro, and bro-in-law stuck around to go to the game. The thieves turned out to be the brother of one of my sister’s friends. Who of course knew we were going on vacation, but didn[t know we had stuck around. Got most of the stuff back, including my mom’s wedding ring, and some other jewelry and a mink coat. Never got my train set back though. They had some 10 year old kids as lookouts for where the shit was stashed and one of them got it.
Bummer, sorry about your train set. Wasn’t the Witcher game-winning TD vs. the Vikings in the ’72 regular-season finale? I remember watching that game and that play back here in the east. And then came the collapse vs. the Cowboys in the playoffs.
Yeah, ’72. We did beat the Vikings in the playoffs in ’71 too iirc.
Would electric trains still work if they haven’t been used in over 50 years?
Dubs being 8 seed or higher will matter little. They will be out quickly. Would be fun to have a go at the Fakers to give it some tv entertainment…team that I find potentially fascinating in the playoffs are the Suns. Could give the Fakers a really hard time…
49ers had a TE back then named Bob Windsor who was a pretty good player and I use to get him confused with Dick Witcher a lot when a ball was caught, was that Witcher are Windsor who made that play?
Is MLB going to televise spring training games, I think it would be a good idea to do, since last year was worthless, and if they do open up the gates to a limited # of fans, what better way to get fans interested than by showing pre season games.
Good idea. I hope MLB reads the Flap.
Utah 9 point favs over the Lakers tonight? I don’t care if AD isn’t playing, LeBron doesn’t get blown out too often. I’m glad betting isn’t legal in Ca or I’d be all over the Lakers and the points, maybe a few bucks on the $ line too
The one thing the Dubs have finally started doing and I was yelling about was the lack of Oubre and Wiggins going inside and now Draymond and Curry realize they can get some easy baskets by feeding them near the basket..
Having Looney and Wiseman back does help with that….
That was on wiggins and oubre. They were both used to sitting around on the wing waiting for a pass. When you play with green and curry that shit isn’t going to fly. They’re FINALLY moving around and cutting to the basket
Yeah nothing like a few players with 7ft wingspans..
I’d still take Alec Burks over anyone on Warriors bench. Looney starting I still don’t get.
I take it they want to ease Weisman back after the wrist injury and think Kerr has been trying to figure out what players work best as a second team and they have been trying to have Wiggins as a starter playing with the second team to start the 2nd and 4th with Pascall and Wanamaker as the other two games consistent pieces. Looks like they are seeing how Wiseman plays with this group.
and he’s in foul trouble but Looney can’t guard Sabonis. At least Wiseman can score on other end. I like Pascall but he has same problem–bigger guys are too tall and strong. Warriors get killed on boards too often.
Dubs do it again on back to back games!
To me they’re really playing great basketball.
Except for the Brooklyn Blowout, this could of been 6 wins in a row for not with some crazy shit down the stretch against Magic&Hornets imo..
Dubs haven’t won or lost 3 in a row all year. Craig bet the farm they lose next time:)
PS Anyone recommend a betting site I can use to get started on a few wagers??
If you life in Ca that’s illegal.
More pickups than at an Iowa farm-auction. Signed this evening: Jeremy Walker, another RHP. Braves released him on 2-12 after 2020 season shoulder injury no games. Decent in a brief outing in ’19. He was a 2016 5th rounder for Atlanta. As a starter in AA and AAA in the Braves pipeline he posted a composite 2.88 ERA while inducing a mass of grounders. Low-cost and minor league options galore. If he is not injury-prone this one could prove to be a sleeper.
Problem is, where they gonna park all these pitchers? Not enough bench space in SacTown, so maybe Richmond also gets a flood. Pitching is their #1 need and now they have it in quality. If even two or three of the mud balls stick to the wall, the Z&H Batman and Robin team will have done it again
Make that quantity. Had meant to say quantity if not necessarily quality.
