Trying Not To Say His Name
Ok, 3 threads in a row highlight the great Grave Duggar is probably too many, even for me, President of his swelling fan club.
Did I read that correctly? The Giants are the only team to not homer this spring? That’s shocking considering the fire power they’ve been sending out there so far.
Where is Brandon Belt? Is anyone talking about this?
All I’ve seen is Belt has some kind of illness they won’t disclose–it’s not covid and his foot has healed, but he is too ill to play.
1b is ably covered by Wilmet and also Ruf played there one of the first couple games along with a scrubini prospect I never heard of.
just an fwiw, but Pav’s column on nbcsportsbayarea had Kapler saying they want Slater for all 3 OF spots. hmmnn
Here’s Kap quote: “Now, as an OF we want him to have versatility and to play all 3 spots. And we want to focus some attention on him in CF during this camp.”
The obvious goal is to triple his chances of hitting the DL…
Ah, fair question. So how many appearances for your boy on same? Has he ever finished a season actually playing on ML roster?
Grave Duggar had some shoulder issues probably related to digging too many graves for those who doubted him.
That is correct, Flav, about the Giants being the only bomb-less team this spring. Going into yesterday’s games, Giants were one of five teams not to hit a HR, but the other four teams went deep — all in their 3rd game. Red Sox are top of the list with 9 in four games.
T J McConnell was quite a pest in Warrior game vs. Indy last week. Got triple double last night with 10 steals including 9 in first half alone. Just missed tying NBA record for single game of 11, done by Kendall Gill of Nets in 99 and the great Dr. K, Larry Kenon of Spurs in 1976, his first season in NBA after being drafted out of Memphis and playing in ABA for 3 years.
i saw he had 9 steals at half and I was waiting for them to take 1-3 away because that will often happen when they certify the official stats–but no he kept them all. Insane trip doub, reminded me of Robinson’s quad doub you posted the other day
We are also dead last with our 4 RBIs.
Cursory investigation of the one who’s name not be said looks like this:
2020 first appearance Jul 30. Week later Aug 5 he is in then nothing til Aug 17. Sept he is out from Sept 4 to Sept 23. total of 8 ABs for month.
2019 he is out from June 18 to Aug 2. Then season ends Aug 7.
2018 he is out from July 8 to Aug 28 50 days missed.
Sounds more like Glass Duggar to me.
“Glass Duggar”? Someone just shot to the front of the line of his list.
Glass Duggar has more broken bones then Samuel Jackson did in “Unbreakable”
Slater, Duggar, bore core, etc. They all stink. Anyone not named Yaz and perhaps, Dubon, would be flotsam on another team.
This is going to be a great year to show how much we love this team through thick and thin!
In a bit of a unique way, this is the teardown you always wanted Blade. It’s just that we have so few MLB ready prospects, that we have to backfill with cheap vet dumpster dives for a year or two.
I think we are going to be one hell of an interesting 76 win team this year!
Thin and thinner. This is all we can do. Everyone at one time or another has wanted this. Not sure why there is resistance. We don’t want to hit the FA market for hi fliers. We aren’t 1-2 players away. We are 6+ away.
Have not seen much home run fire power from this team with a lot of weak groundouts, but is there also any weather factors with some cooler night air in AZ vs. FL? Looks like will be warming up in AZ this weekend but then 60 degree highs next week…
They’re pacing themselves…
So far, there have been 28 plate appearances this spring among players who will be on the ML roster. I love how the team is taking its walks, even without Belt! Just awesome work by the coaching staff and the entire organization.
They would not be the only team without a homer if they play the “Firepower of Jaylin Davis”.
Versatile yes,Power yes, Speed yes,Throwing yes, can play all 3 outfield positions, yes,
Along with Yaz the 2 best outfielders on team..
Does he see the field? Only from a tv from the clubhouse as I’ve yet to see utmost talent on the field!
Every freakin Giant outfielder in camp has played except him? It’s beyond stupidity how they’re treating him!
They go out of their way to protect him, putting him on the 40 man roster, then there 25 man opening day roster last year, you would think they would of been showcasing this stud.If he’s good enough to earn a opening day starting spot ,you have to play him consistently. But no they give him a measly 12 freaking AB’s with a HR against the Dodgers and they ship him out and never to hear from him again?
I’m sure there’s a good reason why he’s been BURIED…
Could be he’s refusing to play. Grave Duggar may have given silent orders to stand down or face the wrath of his list……
it’s entirely possible Grave Duggar has dug several shallow graves all over the outfield and put tiny gravestones next to each that say “here lies JD if he attempts to play a game in ST”
Lotta Lefties Lineup today.
main one is in there again, good. Vosler bomb today too sounds about right.
Agree San Dog and Unca. I have zero animus towards what Z and his GM are doing. Yes, he has to satisfy his “masters” (ownership) first. After that, we get to see his mastery at work and it is genius in my opinion!
Essentially, ownership has put an anchor around his neck by saying, “No, we are not going to get rid of the Bore Core, Longoria, and/or Cueto . . . Here’s your budget (Z looks at the “Dollar Store” figure). Now go make miracles Mr. Z.”
. . . and Z will. He just needs time.
Obey your master (master)
Your life burns faster (faster)
Obey your
Master!
Master!
Blinded by me you can’t see a thing.
Just call my name and I’ll hear you scream.
First bomb of the spring hit by . . . Joe McCarthy!
And another one by Ruf!
After all them Ks, I knew the Senator had to get a hold of one.
Maybe he’s our Joey Gallo.
Whats the deal with Giants pitchers only getting 1 inning of work?
GraveDuggar..Called out on Strikes,Walk then gets picked off, Strikeout swinging… start digging your own grave⚰️
He may be pressing…
Gravely, Duggar toils long hours working in laundry. Pressing. Pressing. Pressing. Get walk. Told to take a hike.
The Grave Duggar’s existence is complex and mysterious…
Hadn’t heard about this on Davis. This was in a Pav tweet today: Jaylin Davis (knee soreness) is close to being game-ready.
Replacing YaZmaTaz in RF, Helios Ramos quietly snaps a couple hits. Good start. Still thinking he’ll be on the roster at some point between the Break and cup of coffee time. Just possible he could become a fixture before season’s end.
Games 2, 3, 4 and the pizza menu of Giants pitchers give up a run per seven inning game. Maybe it will set a pattern where the hurlers are brought in on a “death of a thousand cuts” strategy.
Some of these are quite awesome if you have the patience to scroll through them…

Another major nail in Cuomo’s coffin today…
Cuomo? This is Biden’s fantasy: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3oesSyvh76g
I must confess to being a bit bamboozled by this team this year. Just haven’t felt … anything… about them. Of course my love for the Giants will remain strong always; just not sure how much I’ll *invest* in this year’s bunch. I’ve already said 100 losses wouldn’t surprise me. That tear-down that Steve and Snarkk and some others were often talking about feels to me that it should’ve started more earnestly a couple years ago instead of leading to this waste of a year. And as an indication of my bamboozlement, I’m struggling to even be able to tell when Flappers’ comments are serious or sarcastic:
“The Giants are the only team to not homer this spring? That’s shocking considering the fire power they’ve been sending out there so far.”
“I think we are going to be one hell of an interesting 76 win team this year!”
“I love how the team is taking its walks, even without Belt! Just awesome work by the coaching staff and the entire organization.”
Those are pretty funny. Oh wait…. maybe they’re serious. I just can’t tell anymore. This is the only comment I’m pretty sure I agree with:
“Slater, Duggar, bore core, etc. They all stink.”
They didn’t really stink last year, and based on that, this year’s team shouldn’t either. There’s a lot more talent on this roster than any number of piece of shit SF teams we endured in our youth. But I get the disconnect.
Short season doesn’t tell the whole story.
It might be interesting to do a little position by position comparisons to some of our worst teams…
Sure, but in general the league’s teams played to expectations over 60 games. That was not a 100 loss SF team last year.
Those goddamn 3 titles ruined us forever…
Teams like Detroit Texas KC (who did get one of their own) and Philly are still trying to bet back into things too.
In Philly’s case they’ spent ton on money just to get to .500. Kind of funny girardi , even with Harper and Realmuto, didn’t do any better than Kapler, the guy they fired
You can manage very differently in a 60 game season – especially the way you use your pitchers…
Loo, what are you getting at here?
Just wanted to get the comment total up to 50, James…
Well James, if you define “mediocre” as .500 ball and anything below that as “stink,” then give me a shout if you want to put any amount of money (ANY AMOUNT) that they will play .501 ball, okay?
The run differential’s a somewhat better measure of overall talent than W/L. The pitching looks a little stronger (they were middle of the pack last year), but the offense won’t be 5th again. It looks like a wash to me.
While the Giants were winning the 3-in-5 it was easy to ignore how horribly Sabean/Evans were drafting in the 2010s. The farm system had to be rebuilt from scratch.
Chris Shaw is trying to keep the dream alive in the Orioles organization now. It’s easy to forget the Giants picked him in the first round.
Great point, Zum…
