Tough Start

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 2, 2021

If you had told me that Buster Freaking Posey and Evan Longoria would both hit bombs AND Gausman would be rock damn solid into the 7th inning after pitching a total of 8 spring training frames I’d say “goddamn right we started off with a win.”

Brandon Crawford was horrible. I watched him try to catch that ball Belt threw him 10 times. Each time I become more incensed that he couldn’t catch it. He looked like a little leaguer overwhelmed with the speed of the throw as it bounced off his glove.

Whatever, Crawford isn’t the reason they lost. There were many goats, even more walks and, frankly, many balls that just didn’t bounce our way.

That happens in baseball. I’m just so thankful we have some normal looking baseball back. Win or lose. So grateful.

Donniedoubles. Perfect timing on toppa Steckenrider getting the yips. 5-3 sure looks better than 3-1. Turnaround from last night? Keep those fingers crossed.

Will you be singing the same tune when Rogers takes the mound?

    Not spears

Quick, conclusive inning by the Magic Wandy. Fastball seems effective.

Ty to Ty matchup, Rogers’ curveball simply was not working. Walking the first batter is unsmart.

    Oh joy

Rogers bailed out by the ump and Solano.

Everybody needs a little help from their friends. He didn’t get it from Belt last night. Even up.

      • Macdog said, on April 2, 2021 at 10:17 pm

Ok, makes up for a few of the squeezed ones last night.

Rogers got us through the 8th with no big foofaraw. Three outs to go. Who gets the ball in the 9th?

    • Macdog said, on April 2, 2021 at 10:18 pm

      McGee.

Are you at the homestead yet,Stix? Or minnieminnie?

    • Carstie Clausen said, on April 2, 2021 at 10:35 pm

Still in the Twinzone. Babe sis had a major back operation some 12 days ago and I’m kinda home sitting as she is mostly bed-ridden here, slowly recovering though. Anxious to get back to the homestead for good, but still gotta pass that nasty-assed Mn. written driver’s exam. Failed it twice already. Only 49% pass it the first go-round. Sneaky multiple-choice questions and big changes since passing it in ’62.

Right on the same page as the “handbook” there’s a commercial ad for some outfit who will virtually guarantee a pass via their online “course” at only nine-ninety-nine-ninety-nine-ninety-nine—-or something like that. Looks like collusion to me. Though Mn is a pretty squeaky clean state compared with some, who knows what goes on at the golf-course/country-club or at the vacation condo.

Jake I like. He put on a clinic. 4 seamer at 93+, slider at around 80 and sloooow curve barely topping 70. Painted the plate like an old master. Looking like a true closer, even if facing the bottom half of their lineup. Well deserved.

Just so you’re not disappointed, SportsDude, please remember that the beloved door closing dummy only appears when our pitcher “slams the door” to end the game – usually in save situations.
      There are occasional exceptions…
