A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Shimmy Wednesday

Really surprised the Reds are slight favorites vs us today. Cueto going against his old team should count for something and Mahle is no man to fear.

With all the balls flying out of the yard I hope Giants brass took notice.

The article I read on moving the mound points out that catchers don’t sit right at 60 6. Just saying.

This was another excellent game, to bad Cueto got hurt. Is Mcgee winning the closer role or what. Only 12 games but still.

The batting averages of our outfielders are screaming for help.
No matter what you think of the Grave Duggar, he can’t do much worse.
    This is embarrassing…

    Dickerson .148
    Yastrzemski .154
    Ruf .188
    Dubon .143
    Slater .212

They weren’t displaying batting average on the scoreboard at Oracle today. They now show OBP. Very timely adjustment.

Hey James– I’ll scroll back to see if you covered this but what was your experience like today with 3k fans in the stadium? I was listening to most of it on the radio and they sounded loud. Also, how were concessions handeled?

I’ve never been to spring training, but the Candlestick sized crowd + weather gave the game a somewhat different feel. The fans were enthusiastic enough. Having your own row on Club Level was nice. I didn’t really miss the other 35K fans. The logistics were ok, getting into the park was smooth. Concessions were not great, with a limited selection. You order via your phone, which worked fine, but the crucial Sheboygan distribution point was understaffed and undersupplied. After waiting 30 minutes for my food pickup text notification, I went to the Doggie Diner to join the long line of other disgruntled and hungry customers. Finally got my food 20 minutes later. The Covid protocols were generally well handled, until post-game egress. They completely failed to regulate the traffic flow down the escalator, despite the small crowd. I would have been pissed about it w/o my vaccination.

That sounds too negative. We did have a great time overall, and plan to attend another game next homestand.

Kat might not make it through the night. Blade will be running for his life around 6am. The other two, they’ll get done by noon tomorrow….
