Big Comeback Win
Well how about THAT! That’s the 2nd time this season we’ve come back from 4 down and isn’t it nice to actually see it happen rather than hope for it to happen and be let down? I still have no faith in these bats and continue to be haunted by the aged POTD but games like last night’s give our knowing dude head nods a little extra vigor, aye?
Flabbergasted that they are playing this well and it looks legit (.647 record) if you look at their RS and RA w/+8 run differential.
It’s early though . . . See what’s what at the AS game. Go Giants!
Heading to Philly for the day game. Hoping just a rain delay. Joe G probably praying for a cancellation after those 5 bombs in the meltdown. Expecting no brotherly love geared up.
Nice. Flap representation is critical to their continued success.
Very cool Dennis. Have fun brother and bring us a sweep!
Cool, have a good time Dennis, wish I could join you. Looks like it’ll be a nice day.
Only bummer yesterday was Webb, who hasn’t improved and continues to lack command. Granted ump was inconsistent but too many pitches “easy takes” as krukow likes to say. Not encouraging return to rotation.
No, he’s still sucking. The kid needs to figure it out and that may be best accomplished in the bullpen.
here’s your radar for the game, DennisZ
Thanks…been watching..s/b 1-4 pm storm and then gone. Assume they will delay as it’s last Giants visit.
Stunning comeback win yesterday. That 6th inning outburst came out of nowhere and was as swift as it was decisive. Dickerson has some serious power and hopefully this will set him off. When he squares one up he can hit them as far as anyone. That was a bomb last night. I’d like to see him play more regularly, including against lefties. Going for the sweep today.
GO GIANTS!
8th inning outburst.
Hard to believe they’d be 13-4 if they hadn’t blown big leads in two different games, but 11-6 works for me and probably exceeds what most of us thought would happen.
Another sign that this team does not give up. I think the league is gonna find out the Giants are for real.
The real storm should be lighting bolts tossed around by Giradi at his players in the clubhouse.Except for Harper this team shows no spirit.Harper’s The only outfielder they have,Cutch is old and slow, his 2 replacements in centerfield are young and raw, hitting .040 and 0.55. Same with the infield lots of struggles.Hoskins&Realmuto are good players but the rest of the infielders suck too, maybe a healthy Seguera ok.
Then of course there BP blowing 2 leads doesn’t help.
Good the Giants caught this team at they’re low point right now! Let’s sweep 🧹 up the Phillies with Giants Baseball:Cause this team is resilient “ and keep battling back..
Seeming to recall that over the past couple seasons of play Buster was said to have problems with his hips. Now, having watched videos of his blasts, his overall swing has readjusted to the old Buster. His hips, back, shoulders and arms look to be in complete synch. Barring injuries and if the crick doesn’t rise, Mr. Posey could end up with 20+ taters, win the comeback player of the year—hands down, perhaps–get a few MVP votes and solidify his up to this month’s somewhat tenuous grip on a HOF career.
As a superlative game-caller, pitcher-handler, on-field virtual captain and now with his power-stroke returning, Buster’s gonna grab him some headlines and could just possibly propel this squad into heights unimaginable at the onset of the season. All-Star game? Keeping it up, how could they keep him out?
Buster has 4 HRs and 4 RBI, that’s kinda weird.
I’m crediting all of Posey’s returns to his former excellence ( before his hip injury) to his 2 new babies!
The constant extra diaper tosses( keeping that cannon arm nailing base runners it’s all in the diaper baby! Special load size and weight, close to a baseball weight is the key) and the hip rotation from that along with the year off has really been good for his body, he seems so much more relaxed and rejuvenated
One huge break the Giants avoided was not having to face Phillies Pitcher Aaron Nola who tossed a complete game 2 hit shutout over the Cardinals on 4/18 and has been pitching lights out so far this season.
Can’t believe Girardi left that guy in long enough to give up 2 separate 3 run bombs in same inning. Phils had scored off Garcia too and were hardly out of that game, til Flores unloaded. If Belt is gonna need couple days off maybe Flores can get back in groove–really liked to watch him hit last season.
LaStella I think is solid pick up, but best used part time role like Solano to keep them fresh and avoid slumps.
It’s the Kapler curse. Not even managers with WS rings can escape it.
Belt tweaked his right hammy, they will give him a couple days off for sure.Yeah I would rather see Flores over at 1st then Ruf and maybe that exclamation point Bomb will get him going, cause he is fun to watch when he’s locked in.
LaStella? Good in some situations ( played a good game at 3rd I recall) his best position is at 2nd which is crowded and he’s not as durable as a Scutaro was are hitter, but he’s valuable in a long season if injuries start to mount up.
Meanwhile Pads shut out by amazing Corbin Burnes etc Brewers 6-0 last night at home to fall to 10-9. 0 BBs/14 Ks. Chris Paddack knocked out early, victimized by costly 2 out error by Profar (make shift IF without either Machado or Tatis Jr.) from which he couldn’t pitch out of. Also lost A Morejon to TJS.
Tatis Jr was not in starting lineup but did get pinch single, raising BA to .143. He’s 5 for 35 on season, 2 bombs 3 rbis 5 BBs 13 Ks. Went 1-13 in 3 games with Dogs last weekend.
Pads go into Ravine for 4 with LA starting tomorrow, Sunday being ESPN game. Giants in Petco next weekend for 3 game series.
SF still with only 4 errors. Defense is the least interesting aspect of the game for me, but that is a sweet number.
Let’s rumble…
1. Tommy La Stella (L) 3B
2. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
3. Donovan Solano (R) 2B
4. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
5. Buster Posey (R) C
6. Wilmer Flores (R) 1B
7. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
8. Mauricio Dubon (R) CF
9. Anthony DeSclafani (R) P
Crap, he better not rest Posey tomorrow night when I’m at the game.
Posey at 1st tomorrow?
A good thought!
Buster inching his way up in the lineup.
Longoria is screwing with Kapler’s plan to get all of the IFers at least ~300 PAs this year. It bears repeating that the SF roster is built for the DH.
It bears repeating….Fuck the DH. Fuck it all day, every day, and twice on Sundays.
I was there with you once . . . .
Hope we can put together a Flapalooza later this year. I get my second jab Monday. A couple weeks later I will be ready to hit the yard. Have a great time tomorrow, Jame’s.
My pronouns are still he/him, Chi.
They have the most candidates for DH in baseball, but I’m hanging with Chi no DH even though it will probably happen under Manfred Mann unfortunately..
Disco 🕺 off his game after cruising thru the 1st on 10 pitches,he’s now laboring hard with a final 32 pitch inning and giving up a 3 run bomb.. The rally boys have plenty of time to get it together, but that weather and whipping winds could turn into a rain delay
Just on Gameday, so neither watching nor listening. Would winds and drizzle have affected Disco in that 2nd inning meltdown, or did he do so all on his own?
It was on his own.
Game is back on.
Had Dubon grabbed the bag with his hands as his body slid by he might have made it. At least he put good wood to one.
I give a 10 for the Phillies ground crew, they were excellent and fast getting that tarp down in nasty winds, in just a few minutes,
Neigh, Wilmet Neigh.
Damm Barrels tweaked a muscle on play he should of scored on is not out, hopefully nothing serious 🧐
Dickerson butchered that ball for a error as the runner ended up on 3rd..
Misplaying a bounce like that on damp LF grass is the mark of a born DH
Ruf Ruf!
Here we go Giants!
Yeah baby!! That was a RUF AB, he nailed that ball to dead center to tie the game!!
No quit in this team!!
That was a Ruf blast! My cheers got one Philly fans’ attention…….all I could say to him was THANK YOU .
Awesome.
Good reporting Dennis! There fans must be livid on how they keep screwing up!
Taking the lead.
Fucking A…whoop! Dick Dick Dick!
Hell of a play by Hoskins to rob LaStella of a hit..
Followed by a Cutch inexcusable error now a hit by Dickerson and the Giants take the lead!! 5-4 Go Giants!!
Always a great feeling when a player like Ruf comes back to his former team and STICKS IT TO THEM!!!
That’s too bad Giants had held Harper to singles though he’d been a tough out.
Doval reminds me of another hard throwing Dominican, Pedro Borbon briefly a Giant after long stint with Reds.
Similar releases, nice comparison.
I was even thinking Mario Rivera with just his smooth easy going motion.
That’s twice Dubon has taken strike 3 calls, and the first one with a runner on 3rd with one out!
If that SS they got from Yankees they feel is really to go, then Dubon could head to the alternate site soon..
Wow. Crawfish gets no one.
I knew I should have kept my mouth shut bout the D.
Damn! Living on the edge this series. Love that high fastball. The pitch McGee has been missing with.
Alvarez fought his way out of that.
Got out of that one.
Their closer is nasty. SF bench is used up, save for Casali. Dubon’s owwie cost us one of them. K. used Belt a bit early, even if the situation suggested it.
Well the good news if they get out of the 9th for the extras,Yaz will be on second ( good speed)with Longo leading off.
Start of a nightmare, the dreaded leadoff walk!
So it was Harper, but a 5-pitch walk to open the bottom of the 9th is not good.
Wandy’s pitch to Miller was in almost the identical location as his previous offering. Is he somewhat braindead at times?
Got the series anyway.
Fuck! Well, still a series win.
Wandy without the magic today. Were Rogers and Hammerstein to pooped out to do the 9th, facing the meat of their order? Two for three in their own park and battling all the way, not so bad as the final finish.
And a .500 road trip. Will take .500 on the road all day, every day, and twice on Sunday.
That didn’t take long .Dickerson was playing way to deep and should of caught that first ball that dropped imo.
Maybe they would still be playing..yeah win the series atleast split 3-3 on the road, good enough.
He was anxious to avoid letting another one skip by him.
Wish they got to extra to see Longo put one out. But not to be. Hell, enjoyed watching the comeback again. It was fun.
btw. If I closed my eyes I would have remembered my last visit to Candlestick in ’76.
Cold and windy.
Yeah, when they were showing shots of the crowd, it looked cold. Folks had their hoodies up and you could see a lot of blankets in use.
Glad you had fun brother. Sorry you didn’t get to see a W.
’75 was my first visit.
Liked the pinch hit stat 5 homers by pinch hitters in April. Gabe has a nice bench to work with, once again a team that does not have big egos on it. Go Giants
Yeah, the word is not spelled “tEGOm”.
if you missed the 10th inning of the A’s game, wow, that was uh some inning. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that before actually….
Extras are slop now, every time.
i flipped it on when it was 10-10 and then to see the A’s go on and win with two of the worst errors, back to back, you’re ever gonna see…..I guess you need luck too when you have a winning streak going like that
The a’s had great luck back in 2002, when beane helped them to a 21 game streaj and a first round exit. Pennyball.
Slusser says Solano to the IL with calf strain. Kapler pulled Crawford from SS with discomfort in his side, which is why Dubon was in there. Looks like Thairo time.
They need a SS for sure to get called up now..
Forgot about Vosler too, though he is LH iirc.
Yeah that some brutal fielding by the Twins to waste Burton’s long HR to center to make it 12-10 at the time..
11 wins in a row for the A’s as they start to mimic the moneyball run of 20 in a row?
baseball, typically, is not a funny sport. Too many uptight jocks. But this, THIS is funny…..
Since the Giants lost, I figured the Warriors would gag up a hairball and it is coming to pass.
And Wiggins misses the uncontested layup. FTL.
Steph with a vax problem? Air balls all night long. Many good dries though. Strange.
