2010 Memories
Texas is in town. That is a little random. Hmmmm the last time I remember then was…..I think this?
They still have Joey Gallo getting on base and making James jizz harder than our starting pitching staff when Casali starts flicking those handsome fingers. They have a new guy named Adolis Garcia who rakes who the Cardinals just freaking sold them. Cold hard cash, no prospect in return. I wonder how Daniel feels about that?
Anyway, they can hit ok but their pitching is nothing to fear. They best SP is Gibby and he’s going tonight.
“pom poms look way gayer…”
I’m surprised I said that. I probably meant “lamer”. Even so, what we are allowed to say, even in jest, has changed dramatically in just 11 years.
Have not been paying much attention since the Derby and now hearing of this Baffert scandal. What is the Flap Pony Take???
terrible for the sport. I am so sick of Baffert and I hope they NAIL his ass for this.
Betcha Bode did it…
His excuse sounds lame–neither he nor his trainers put the drug into the horse and they can’t understand how it got there. Blamed a previous fail on something in horse’s feed. Wonder how TVG crew following Preakness all week, who tend to fawn over him when he’s in California, will approach Medina Spirit.
Great read in Athletic on Giants prospects and minors teams after first week. Thairo is raking, Bart and Ramos have couple bombs, pitching a little more suspect on first outings from Hjelle Corry and Beck though Santos doing OK with River Cats. High A guys raking but Low A not so much. And oh, Luciano 3-22 with bunch of Ks.
Vosler got sent back down to clear spot for Cueto. Doesn’t seem likely to ever make an impact.
Btw, spent yesterday afternoon enjoying outdoor BBQ at friend’s house, longtime Godfather fan who shows the movie (all 3) at Holiday gatherings, as ‘tradition.” Watched some youtube TV on Sammy the Bull Gravano former made guy from NYC in different families, telling stories from his favorite leather chair at home dressed nicely always with shades on and stylish old guy hat. Reminds viewers to give him likes and subscribe if they enjoy the content after each talk.
Baffert’s dumb as is now blaming this on “cancel culture”. LOL goddamn motherfucker you got caught. There are conseqences for getting caught. Got nothing to do with “cancel culture”
You’re too young to remember the Dancer’s Image/Forward Pass Derby scandal of 1968,
but back then when horse racing still mattered it was HUGE stuff.
Worth googling if you have some time on your hooves…
Great story…read the SI report from soon after. What do you think, Loo? Could horse have been “got at” and received another dose to blow urine test by someone outside with malice?
Which is dirtier — horse racing or pro cycling?
I offer horse racing — because at least in the Tour de France, the athletes consent to using PEDs…
Nothing is impossible in horse racing…

That is crazy shit.
BTW Chuck, the jacket is progressing…
No hurry. Do what you got to do. Thanks again.

GD becoming a regular fixture in the line-up….
Sorry to hear today of passing of trombonist Curtis Fuller. Recorded often as leader, and was member of great sextet led by Art Blakey 1961-64. Blakey’s best lp ever might be Mosaic, recorded 1961 with Mr. Fuller, Freddie Hubbard Wayne Shorter and Jymie Merritt. Loved his big sound.
“Blues-ette” is a favorite go to LP.
Oh thanks James. Looks like Bluesette #2 has extra cuts including Along Came Betty, great tune. And same personnel, with Benny Golson and Tommy Flanagan.
Noticed Lindsey Gottlieb, former head coach of Cal women who joined NBA Cavaliers as assistant, was just signed to coach USC women. Just a coincidence she left program once her All American Center Kristine Anigwe and her starting backcourt graduated and left? I get taking a chance to go NBA to further your career, but now she bails on them to go back to college. Cal women’s program hasn’t recovered, albeit in one of top leagues in country.
I hate when coaches do shit like that –um I’m losing my best players/going off to greener pastures. Funny enough same thing happened to Cal men. Cuonzo Martin led the program for couple years and then once his best players Jabari Bird Jaelyn Brown (of Celts fame) and post Ivan Rabb were leaving, so did he to take job at Missouri to coach incoming freshman star Michael Porter Jr. His frosh point at Cal went with Martin to Tigers.
Cal’s incoming coach Wyking Jones was not quite prepared, talent cupboard was bare, then his best player Justice Sueing left for Ohio State after a year, and Cal has been bottom feeder ever since.
Good review, willieD.
I’ll admit I haven’t been to a Cal sports event in a couple of years. I used to go to at least one Cal football game, maybe two, per season. And at least one Cal men’s basketball game, and one Cal girls baseketball game when my Snarkkettes were younger.
Men’s basketball has been an afterthought the last half decade or so.
Football has been somewhat on the upswing with Wilcox coming onto the HC job. He’ll probably leave in the next couple of years for greener pastures.
I love Cal, and loved my time there.
It is a world class university.
It just so happens that intercollegiate athletics in the major men’s sports is not a huge priority, and we Cal people can live with that, and the occasional surprising success…
I used to enjoy watching Cal baseball also.
Totally bogus stat they just put up about highest catcher BA’s.
Without looking I know Torre played 3rd for the Cards in 1971.
Maybe he filled in at catcher here or there, but I doubt very much…
Torre didn’t catch one single fuckin’ game for the ’71 Cards!
What a piss poor job by whoever put that up…
Miller should know better too just reading it.
Yeah that bullshit journalism! This person needs to be tar& feathered behind Woody Rueter’s man cave shed.,
Or not at all: Torre played all this games at 3B in ’71.
The Grave Duggar, leading off the inning should get something decent to hit.
He needs to take advantage of this opportunity…
That wasn’t one of them..
And to tell the truth if he laid out on the pop up that went for a hit,he could of caught it.But maybe he didn’t want to blow out both shoulders again.,
Nick-Lowe first two Rangers batters this inning.
Yaz grounds out to second,
Krukow: “Good at bat”
So fuckin’ stupid…
Belted to LF!
Going with the pitch and it was Belted.
Belt says, I’ve got your no hit right here.
Belt needs to keeep going with outside pitches. They may stop shifting him.
They don’t shift him in the OF.
Time to shovel in a run or two…
Dubon gets thrown out at 2nd on that play.
I suppose that per Kruk was a good AB from Duggar.
Shoveling shit for Duggar.
Possible career ender…
Sacramento is lovely this time of year.
Dee Eff AAA
Don’t you have to have a career first?
It was a very good pitch, FWIW.
Yaz on, now bring him in.
Tauchman since the HR is 5 for his last 26.
When Solano and La Stella return, things will get interesting. Maybe they’ll just trim the bullpen down to Rogers.
Pitchers best friend The DP ball!!
Duggar knows all about that one ☝️
As they say here in the South, it weren’t purdy but it got her dun.
They’ve had chances every inning. Time to cash in.
Awesome throw there.
A thing of beauty.
wow wasn’t sure that was good idea to PH for Tauchman, but Kapler’s guy Dubon gets it done.
Doobie! Finally!!
Really great AB for Doobie!!
Dubey!
He had Dubon nailed between 3rd&SS if he just looked. But all good, take that bonus run!
Dubon stopped so he couldn’t be tagged out, forcing the throw to first. At least that’s what I saw.
Kapler’s PHs this inning—walk to Slater, single by Ruf, rbi hit by Dubon. Batting 1.000
Now comes the hard part.
Culberson finally helps the Giants.
“Nick-Lowe first two Rangers batters this inning.”
What’s so funny ‘bout…..
I saw Culberson play a game for the San Jose Giants when Posey and Craw were on that team, if I remember correctly.
Modesto still have team in that Low A league? If so Jose Giants with Luciano etc. will be there. Heard they sold out Saturday night, cool even if it is small yard.
Rogers makes 8th look easy.
8 pitches. Do they bring himback?
No barrels there.
Geez 7 pitch inning for unstoppable Rogers!
But guess who will get the call in the 9th? Kappy’s bromance boy Mr.McGoo book it!!
warriors giving up a 23-7 run.
man, Texas defense…Davis throw from LF, error by Culbs, now SS prolongs inning.
3 [point lead,5 seconds left. Foul.
McGiggles?
Jeeebus. Don’t throw high fastballs to righties.
What does he expect to happen leaving those pitches up like that?
That’ll do it.
Fuck yeah! Nice scrappy win!
Doobie Doo with the key knock!
Yikes. Charlie to the rescue.
W for Wood!
4-0 leading the staff in wins..
McGoo only has one pitch the hittable FB!
Man they luck out bringing McGee instead of letting Rodgers clean it up.
Kapler says it’s still situations bringing in Rodgers over McGoo that’s BS!!
Giants sure killing it at home.
So glad the NFL has found a place for Tim Tebow to play.
The Bore Core has not been boring this season so far. That has been a pleasant surprise.
YES!!!
Wonder what Daniel thinks of cards G-men tied for best record in NL
Oh, I miss Daniel,
Oh, I miss him so much…
