Nice W against a team we should beat. Day game today. Gallo moment?
This Wood/GasMan stuff is still blowing my mind. As is the fact that we’re still in first place.

13-4 at home, plus 24 run differential–scored 75 only given up 51. So different from days players and us were moaning about lack of offense and watching out of town players go yard all the time. Yes you can make a case about opposition which includes 6 games vs. Rockies, 4 with Marlins, 3 with Reds and now Texas, but still–beating teams at home and playing even on road was old way to be successful.
Pavs said something about Gausman becoming rich man this offseason and Brisbee brings him up again on Athletic— what do you guys think: should Giants try and extend him/wait and see/trade him for prospects?
As long as they are in Division/WC race, can they afford to trade any starting pitching? Or would it be best time to do so?
Hope Stix has somehow managed to keep up with how well Giants have been playing. Relentlessly polly for most part, hope he can enjoy little basking during this sunny period of being Giants fan.
Man, how good has Wood been? And Belt, at the plate and in the field? Zaidi seems to have that magic touch, so far at least.
What’s going on with Stix? Is he okay?
He’s off the grid working on his house. Which was partially destroyed due to his being locked up for 4 years.
Thanks Chuck. Glad it’s nothing too serious.
It’s more of a cabin I think. Man, we got to get a road trip together and visit.
Both Wood and GasMan are setting themselves up for big pay days. Doubt Farhan ponies up for either of them. One Max.
I’ve been trying to keep up with what’s been going on in the minors so far, and there’s some exciting young kids on their way up. Up and down the list of affiliates, there’s guys playing well, hitting and pitching. Ramos is already making a strong case for Sacramento. I’d guess it won’t be long before he’s right down the road from Oracle.
It’s great to have MiLB back! I’m going to have to get out soon and catch some Rainiers’ games. It’s finally starting to warm up around here.
Z looking a helluva lot smarter than I thought.
How much credit does Kap get for the surprising start?
Agree on Z and Id say plenty of credit due Kap. Wasn’t in on platoon ball but seems to be working and he’s shuffled OF around without Yaz, they’ve been fine without Solano, and his pen has been shuffled around too.
Sweet ass scrappy win last night. And not only in first place, but tied for best record in the NL, and half a game off best in MLB.
If Giants are in the hunt later in the season, I would not be dealing any SPs. Long term, like Flav, not sure I see them inking Both Gausman and Wood. But I am going to enjoy the ride for now. No fucking way I expected this…
I agree, Loo, I’m finding myself grudgingly coming around to Kapler as a manager. I still think his bull pen usage leaves something to be desired, but it seems to have gotten better, which is encouraging moving forward. I still find him kind of annoying sometimes, but the team is playing well so it’s hard to argue with that.
Part of it may come down to comparing him to Bochy. After years of Boch’s salt-of-the-earth approach and laid back demeanor, Kapler can come off as something of a salesman, but for now I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
As for Zaidi, I think the dude just has it. If some of the youngsters pan out, hopefully most, this team is going to be pretty damn good over the next few years. He just seems to have a knack for assembling a team that works. Lot to look forward to with the Giants.
Stix called to chat about a week or week and a half back. Early on he shouted, “What?” “They’re in first place,” I repeated. He was staying in an ice fishing shack, working hard on his home every day and enjoying it.
Ah cool thanks!
Anyone else think Stix has a book in him?
Or a movie?
Or a sit-com?
Sixtlandia?
He has plans for a book on a alphabet he created. I think he has shared some of the details here before. Dude probably has a few books in him.
Stix appearing at a Flapalooza would break the internet…
Ulfilas invented the Gothic alphabet in order to translate the Bible for recently converted Germanic savages.
Like I didn’t already know that…
I find Kapler’s corporatism amusing. He is kinda like the reps I’d meet at conferences, but he’s clearly got the chops to be a couple levels above. He understands the business, the politics, and how the software works. The end users are a bit of a problem, but they can’t be helped anyway.
WillieD, I threw on “Blues-ette” this morning in remembrance of C. Fuller. Just really solid, as always.
yeah thanks for posting that listened to Five Spot After Dark, Golson tune from #2. Solid all around, great rhythm section with Al Harewood on drums Jimmy Garrison and Tommy Flanagan.
Do the Twins ever play the Giants? It would be EPIC to head to the homestead, pick up Stix, and hit a game in the Twin Cities.
Agree.
It would be the Flap version of visiting Dealey Plaza…
Don’t drive there with a busted tail light…
Hoping Webb can spin a web today…GD hanging tough in the 8 hole…
1. Mike Tauchman (L) LF
2. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
3. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
4. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
5. Wilmer Flores (R) 2B
6. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
7. Curt Casali (R) C
8. Steven Duggar (L) CF
9. Logan Webb (R) P
Giant broadcasters unanimously praise the Grave Duggar for his hard work at improving his offense.
Unfortunately, the results thus far are not going to keep him around much longer.
He needs a loud game or two – and quick…
See what happens after Solano gets back and there’s less need for Dubon, who did have clutch AB unlike the GIDP from GD, in the OF. Kap likes full LH/RH options out there but only so many spots, unless someone gets hurt again.
as noted by James at 10:57.
Mr. 3 inning man today.
Flavor’s Gallo call awaits one of those tailing fastballs just above the knees.
Not only are Solano and La Stella going to return at some point, but there’s also Dickerson. With 6 starting pitchers, the auditions for a continued spot on the roster are in full swing. Or maybe injuries will be making the decisions.
So what should Stix name his book?
Chopper down in the compound?
Blackhawk down?
Cartsie in the woods, the untold story?
I Shot the Sheriff’s Bird.
Unca, I don’t think Giants play AL Central teams again until 2023. At least that was the 3-year cycle before Covid.
If anyone wants the phone number Stix called from, shoot me an email. xootsuit yahoo
Quadophenia double album 💿 one of my 1st albums and one of my best! Doctor Jimmy,5:15 awesome stuff!
Nice Chuck pulling in Zoot suits close enough for Xoot lol..
Looking forward the Giants really did get a great setup in inter league games.
They had the 3 in Seattle, 2against Texas here, 2 there,Angels 2 here, 2 there,Astros 3 here, but don’t play them there, 6 against the A’s 3 here, 3 there that will be the toughest of the bunch but overall very encouraging inter league schedule in a weak division besides the A’s..
Yep. That was the first album I ever bought.
Never heard this before, but I pretty much ignored the who. The tale behind that dog says a lot.
https://www.thewho.com/music/zoot-suit/
Ignore the Who? I mean, fuck the Beatles, but these guys rock pretty hard.
I was eleven, twelve, living in England. By the time the who came around the Stones and Dylan had distracted me. Things happen.
Although now that I think of it, a woman I liked talked me into driving up to see Tommy performed at a small theater on Ocean Beach, next to Playland (and the Family Dog). Just ok, until the show stopper–the slim young Tommy, nude with long blonde hair, dancing opposite an empty frame in front of a slim young woman, nude with long blonde hair, who mirrored his every move as the music rocked. That was pretty good.
Wow nice play by Crawford getting the DP by himself!Oops he safe at 1st first, the right call unfortunately.
Gawd I would rather have root canal then watching Webb pitch it’s less painful..
The Giants lead all teams in baseball by a wide margin in taking pitches and running frustrated pitchers to high pitch counts early. Then they make a mistake and they take, great approach by their hitting coaches and a major reason they are winning imo..
Wilmer didn’t even consider trying to keep the tag on the runner. He and Doobie are in some sort of contest.
Duggar’s playing himself off the roster with his limp noodle bat..
lol. His batting average is better than 6 other guys in the LU right now. And his glove is better than all of them
Uh now it’s only 3 batters. But keep trying to convince yourself he’s a ball player..
O.M.G. Webb in the 6th? Get the pen going.
Waste a GD pitch!
whoa Culbs strikes again.
More free runs! Thanks Texas!
That BA of GD is down to .226. glove is solid, but being worst hitting OF on team isn’t something to write home about. Been a few games since he last got a hit…not good.
4 hits in Colorado . since then, 2-11 at sea level where real baseball is played.
Yeah when your trying now to bunt for a hit and you can’t even do that popping up to the pitcher,GD has hit rock bottom. No way to sugar coat it he stinks..
Ooooh. Good time Charlie having a day.
Tatis and Profar and Mateo on the covid IL. I thought the pods were at 85% vax? Guess not.
The wrong 85% apparently.
We getting Mr. Rogers?
Oh shit. I think this is going to the well once too often for Mr. Kotter.
To borrow a term (with slight modification) from Jackie Gleason….
How SWEEP it is! 🧹🧹🧹
who was the guy on Gong show they used to have dancing at the end?
Gene Gene the dancing machine!

Gene Gene the Dancing Machine
I think he was called Gene Gene the dancing machine?
Giants get the 2 game sweep!
Great homestand with extra momentum starting the road trip against a shitty Pirates team..
Gotta beat the patsies as my old dumbbell neighbor always use to say…
Wow. McGee does it again.
Scouting report on McGee:
When he doesn’t suck, he’s terrific!
https://sports.yahoo.com/bob-baffert-admits-he-treated-medina-spirit-with-ointment-that-contained-betamethasone-164337062.html
yeah saw that earlier–as they say, total walk back from what he said earlier. It’s like how can you tell he’s lying—his lips are moving. Saw MS is going to be allowed to run in Preakness, and gets 3rd position.
When Baffert’s nose grows that’s a sure tail sign he lying!
Hmmm if Medina Spirit wins by a nose do they test his nostrils for a growth spurt?
so what’s that mean? He used an approved treatment at an approved level and the test results either don’t accurately reflect the level of the chemical in the horse’s blood or the ointment was doctored without his knowledge? Guy’s got some cunning lawyers in his stable.
Local kid Tyler Bosetti from Vacaville playing for UNR in Nevada just set an NCAA record with his 9th HR in 9 straight games..
The next Jermaine Dye. They didn’t have players like that in my day.
Guy in SF system who attempted suicide hit a homer today for the cats in sactown. Truly amazing story. Giants brass never told anyone till he did. Playing baseball blind in one eye. A feel good story
