The Genius of Steph Curry
Congratulations to the Warriors who have exceeded ALL expecatations this year. They’ve even given themselves a little breathing room should they lose to LA they still have a chance to get in. Disappointed we couldn’t get Portland who we regularly treat rudely.
And I also think Steph should be MVP. This is what it’s like every game:

And yet he still managed to win the scoring title AND pull his bedraggled club along with him to a chance at the post season.
And we got Minnesota’s pick in the draft.
And Klay is coming back.
Things looking up for The Dubs.
This. Is. Awesome.
Dude, that is fucking awesome. I wonder if there is a limit. At a buck a beer, you could get torn-up pretty quickly on the cheap.
What could go wrong? Those can’t be glass.
That does look like fun.
Yes, congrats to the Warriors. Another Bay Area team exceeding expectations.
Was bummed the Giants did not take the series from the Bucs, but whether you are playing good teams or bad teams, the goal is always to play .500 on the road. Got that split and got outta town.
Raining in Cincy. Looks like it may clear some later. I suspect it will be dicey as to whether or not they get today’s game in…
I think the Warriors would have a chance against Phoenix. I don’t think they have a chance v Utah. And unfortunately they don’t match up well with LA. So, I do think they’re going to get in, likely v Utah and it will get ugly, early.
He’s had to do so much just to get them in, not sure how long it can last.
Less optimistic about next season–have to draft better no matter where T-Wolves pick lands them. Roster too thin beyond 5 starters (one of whom has to be Wiseman); I’d like them a lot better if Oubre is back.
Reds have been really good at home so far with big +run differential. Series at the O with them was great–each team threw a shutout, and in btw was wild 4 bomb first inning game Giants came back to win. Winning pitcher in that one was Peralta iirc, in vulture style.
Other than Miley I think Reds SPs are all RHP, so let’s see LHs get rolling. Giants have lot OF depth, like to se Dickerson get rolling and bandbox yards like Cincy has a good opportunity for him. Imo he seems shakiest/most likely to be traded for pen help.
Brief minors notes:
Bart HR and 2b 3-4 in losing effort for Sac. Japanese guy Yamaguch got hammered again in L. 2 starts he’s given up10 runs. Bart is hitting .355 with OPS 1.100…might be putting heat on Casali, who does seem like Kap kind of guy. Promoting Bart at some point would give him chance to work with Posey.
Richmond lost 2-1. Good start for Sam Long, drafted by Tampa out of Sac St. Last 2 starts 1 run in 8 innings 10 Ks. Ramos 0-4, BA down to .262.
Warriors seem to playing better without Oubre and Damion Lee. The Warriors will pick 6th or mostly 7th or 8th with Minnesota’s pick and 17th with their own pick.
Consensus is the first three picks will be Cade Cunningham – could be a real stud, Evan Mobley – potentially a great player, and Jalen Suggs – this kid is the real deal.
Would anyone on this board trade the 6th, 17th picks and Oubre and Lee for one of the top three picks?
Wiseman, Green, Wiggins, Thompson, Curry – Looney, Cunningham (or Mobley, Suggs), Poole, Toscano-Anderson, Bazemore would be a fantastic top ten.
mm doubt it. Any team trading down would have to see value of lower pick and of course risk missing out on a legit star that would piss off fan base. Oubre will be expensive for anyone that signs him and Lee isn’t much more than role player near bottom of a roster.
I’d like to see GS be able to add size on frontline to compliment Green and Looney–most of better teams in entire league have good solid big men and it will take time for Wiseman to improve. As you noted at least one of the Mobleys will go very high to someone and more bigs are coming in all the time.
I’m also hesitant about Thompson. He’s suffered 2 serious leg injuries, and legs are everything to a shooter. Timetable for what he can do, and how many minutes he can play effectively very open question. Much rather have Oubre than Bazemore myself.
I’ve seen narrative Warriors should package various guys (including either Wiseman Wiggins Oubre) to bring in a superstar and go for all the marbles, now while Green and Curry still at top of their game. Trades are very complicated in NBA and I think Wiseman (and others) can be part of future. I’d rather see them add quality depth to starting 5, and get better players than Looney Bazemore JTA Lee Mulder Paschall Bell yada yada for Kerr to work with.
Oubre free agent…
Dubs vs. Fakers great drama and one win is doable. Never beat them in 7 and with you that Jazz tougher out than Suns so hoping we pull of the play-in game and Jazz that out the Fakers.
Congrats on your big Preakness day Flav. One of these years going to make the Preakness. .
A bunch of drunk guys with full-sized plastic bats……
That kind of has “Bill Veeck Disco-Demolition Night” written all over it.
Dubs are where they are because Wiseman got hurt. He was hugely dragging down the team.
No. You’d rather play Looney and Bell, seriously? Small ball with Paschall? Vs. NBA Centers in league now?
Have you seen what the team has done since the raw, mistake prone Wiseman has been on the shelf? The records speaks for itself
It has been wet in Cincy…hope they can get this game in…
1. Mike Tauchman (L) CF
2. Buster Posey (R) C
3. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
4. Darin Ruf (R) 1B
5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
6. Wilmer Flores (R) 3B
7. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
8. Mauricio Dubon (R) 2B
9. Logan Webb (R) P
GO GIANTS!
Man from 7th to start the year to 2nd now in the batting order,Posey is proving everybody wrong with his scorching hot start..
Curry is a once in a lifetime athlete for his sport. He’s changed the NBA game.
I stopped watching it altogether, then Curry came along.
Like I remember Joe and Steve and Ronnie and Jerry with the Niners in the 80’s- early ’90s, and Timmy and Posey with the Giants 3 in 5, enjoy this guy while it lasts. It is fleeting.
15 years ago, who would have thought that a guy could be an NBÅ jump shot threat basically as soon as he crosses the half court line?
That photo of Steph looks like how teams defend him most of the time. The continuous clutching, hitting, grabbing, bumping, holding that the guy endures as he moves without the ball is amazing. I think the refs and league have decided they won’t call fouls for this kind of defense because there would be foul called every 3 seconds while he’s on offense. It’s really a mockery of how defense should be played. If he weren’t constantly mugged while on offense, he’d score 50 per game, IMO…
Magic and Larry Bird brought the NBA from the dead,
Pujols to Dodgers?
I think they’ll DFA him before mid-late Summer…
Probably so Snarkk,
But I guess now with Seager,Bellinger out and moving Lux to SS and Muncy to 2nd base they figure if he plays 3-4 days a week and adds veteran presence in The clubhouse it’s worth a look-see.Poo-hoos can still occasionally kill LHP but defensively he will be an embarrassment..
Scumbag Bob Baffert has been suspended and none of his horses are allowed to run at all NY racetracks including The Belmont, Aquadect,Saratoga racetracks ..
Guaranteed if the horse had won the Preakness there would be no suspension.
NYRA has no business using the word “integrity” in any of their bullshit statements.
Talk about scumbags…
Yep..Especially if the horse has shot at the triple crown and the revenue/exposure it creates..
I only saw the replay, but that did not look like good baserunning from Yaz.
Yaz should of stayed at 3rd, he was deadmeat at home.It was a very strange top of the 1st inning..
Good work by Webb, since he should of been out of the inning prior cause of Flores having a brain fart on an easy play and throwing a lollipop 🍭 high throw to first..
Gray has Ruf all messed up.
Giants are so far not a smart base running team.
Also, they aren’t running much, which is quite opposite of what they did in Spring Training…
They do have an excellent SB percentage, which is more important than quantity. That’s pretty smart.
I’m not talking about SBs as much as running the bags with judgment, sending runners for H & R situations, etc…
Should a guy like Casali be allowed to even talk to teammates that can hit?
Dubomb!
Dubinatior!! Wow that HR was smoked!!
Homeruns, yawn.
Why pull Webb only 86 pitches in?…
Because when he goes south, he ends up in Tierra de Fuego.
These Pen guys just keep giving free 90 feet regularly to the oppo, and like here with the free 180 feet, it usually bites them…
The walk was on Joe West.
That’s one way to get the run back.
Now that’s baserunning!
Slater’s bad base running getting picked off is offset by Ruf’s smart base running and Cincy inexplicably letting him score. They must have forgotten about Ruf. Bad baseball all around, but we’ll take it…
Get him out.
Get him off the team.
this would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
Wow, the park is a launching pad, but the Giants Pen is just atrocious.
Now, another free baserunner.
Giants better get more runs…
McGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Can anyone around here throw a strike?
McGoo can throw strikes.
They just tend to get turned around at 105 mph at a 30% launch angle…
oh no.
Scary, I don’t even want to post the shot from CF.
OK, let’s get some more runs !…
Rogers hasn’t given up a run his last 9 appearances. He had another 9-game scoreless streak prior to giving up a couple way back when.
Oh my
Looks like he didn’t even see it coming. Reacted way late…
He walked off the field.
It’s a worrisome day in the neighborhood. . .
I don’t know how he walked off on his own?
I’d be in ICU still unconscious..
Stop calling for sliders!
Rogers will have 145 appearances and a 6 foot long right arm if this keeps up…
Jesus that ball missed Rogers head by an inch
Oh yeah that’s a Rodger made DP!!
Marvelous.
Not a time for your 1st error of the year for Crawford..
Lucky.
Win Win !
Good thing Rogers is around.
He’s the MVP so far, in my book…
Victory! Good start to the series.
Ballgame!!!
Ballgame!! The pen is a slow-moving train wreck.
No way the Pen at end June will resemble what it is now. Can’t happen…
Meanwhile, really nice start for Webb, finally.
Maybe he’s figured out something…
I’m so tired of seeing Slider boy Wishler giving up bombs along with McGoo as well.
And yes Webb pitched a gem, and Kapler pulled his ass to quick with 86 pitches.
Shoulder MRI for Webb, bummer.
MadBum vs. the Dodgers tonight. Pujols starting at firstbase.
MLB Network game.
Webb has a shoulder issue. Both he and Kap say it’s not a big deal but….come on
Disco came out early in his last start as well with tightness.Even though he’s throwing tomorrow there going to have to monitor his pitch count as well.
I hadn’t looked at his stats in a while . . . .
https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/q/quiseda01.shtml
Workload will probably not be what sinks Rogers, if he starts to falter.
Here are the baserunning stats for MLB
https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2021-baserunning-batting.shtml
The takeaway? Baserunning doesn’t separate one team from another all that much. If you look at the teams with the fewest outs made on the bases versus those with the most, you’ll see that the worst teams would have 2 more runs scored and the best, 2 fewer if they were at the league average.
Baserunning blunders may make you look stupid and incompetent, but in the grand scheme of things they are kinda irrelevant.
10 ground ball outs for Webb, and all those who did game noticed he was working faster, ala Wood. Hope he’s OK. 3 more bombs-saw a stat Giants have homered in 14 consecutive road games, first time in 70 years.
Ties longest streak for team set in 1947. Record began this year April 19.
Arizona has a grim batting lineup.
I just spent a few minutes watching highlights on MLB.com of Shohei Ohtani with the Angels. I knew he was good, but now I can say this guy is friggin’ amazing. Big dude, as big as Stretch was, but runs like a gazelle. Stronger than hell, he hit a couple of doubles off the wall with basically a one handed swing. Tonight he Tomahawk pulled a pitch way high and outside that nobody else would even swing at, and he yanked it over the right CF fence. I’m not even talking about his pitching. This dude would be the talk of the MLB if he played in NY. He’s Babe Ruth 100 years later. Seriously, I’ve never seen a player like this in all my years of watching baseball…
