Still In First Place, Barely
I mocked the signings of Gausman, Wood and Disco. Any of the 3 could legimately start the all star game. And all 3 should be on the team.
The Padres and Dodgers are coming that is a known fact but at least we are keeping this season interesting. Imagine what we could look forward to if Farhan fixes this bullpen?
Exciting game tonight in LA. We don’t match up too well vs a healthy Laker team but hey it’s all entertainment, right? There’s no way Steph gets an open look tonight but he doesn’t really need one and that will just open it up for other guys anyway. LA by 5 points? Yikes I wouldn’t bet a dollar against Curry and Draymond.
Longo Bomb! 18 to fucking 1!
This is crazy
Fuck. I sure hope we hit Bauer tomorrow.
O.M.G. Longo dongo
Yikes. 17 run lead and he can’t find the zone.
Unreal even Mike Murphy is looking to hit..
The bus for Sacto is warming up for you,Camilo.
Doval nibbles like a blind shark.
Well, if Doval can get through this, he’s done something. Not all his fault.
That was a great time to throw Duval out there.
Watching those 1990 Reds highlights, I don’t remember Richmond’s own ET McGee being on the A’s.
Casali back down below the LeMaster line.
Bauer vs Wood tomorrow. They may not score 3 between them.
How many of you guys still have Direct TV old Comcast, I have read on social media that some people no longer have either of those two. They use YouTube for all Giants games. Does anyone have AT&T TV?
After Sling dropped NBC Bay Area, I was using T-Mobile, which then abruptly farmed out their service to YouTube. It’s been pretty good, even though I’ve had some issues with the stability of the app.
I have Apple TV and love it. I get over 100 normal you tube stations, along with HBO Max,Disney +,Netflix,Paramont+,Apple tv, Hulu, basically a shit load of stuff., but I won’t pay for a movie that’s new, everything will eventually be free..
I have ATT / Directv, but I turned off the premium package. I was paying $120 a month for it. We have the basic package, which completely sucks balls. I don;t even get ESPN as a basic channel.
Last night, the Warriors game was pretty much a wash on Bilasport. I listened to the 2nd half in my car.
Yeah every time I talk to a Direct TV guy, I tell them they are going to continue to loose customers if they don’t start offering ala carte, a customer picks the stations they want. I don’t need 6 Disney stations, don’t need 8 religious stations, don’t need any Spanish stations. Let me start picking the stations I want and don’t gauge me on the price.
$50/month to run YouTube TV on a device like the Fire Stick.
Everything is a computer. You keep buying more computers until you get the one that does what you need it to do.
How Sweep it IS!
If not for the pen, we’d be on a 10 game winning streak.
Damn bullpen can’t ever get a clean game. 🙂
Maybe Kap has figured out how best to use GD–start him like once every 5-6 games and otherwise only bring him in as defensive replacement. Hasn’t seem to bother the club, which wins regardless with/without him.
7 of next 9 vs. Dogs, so competition about to get tougher. Weird how so many of teams Giants have played (other than SD) are either last or next to it–Rox Texas Marlins Pirates Reds. Reds started season 6-1, since then 13-22 which if they continue on that pace would put win total about mid 60s.
Great road trip, should be fun flight home. Hopefully Belt feels better and avoids IL.
The Giants really deserved an opening schedule like that this season. It seems like the opening schedule has been brutal the last few seasons.
mm true Zum. an all NL west schedule would have included Dogs already. In btw Dodgers series Giants play at AZ next Monday/Tuesday. DBax are 18-26 and end series tonight in Latrine where they’ve lost first two. Then after Giants 4 game set at Latrine next week, they get 2 at nearby Angels and will miss Trout
This is terrible, there’s no Giants game this evening.
Hopefully the Giants can take advantage of all the Dodgers injuries coming in.
No Bellinger, Seager,Pollock,May,Grandersol, and yet they continue to win with deep depth. Same goes with Padres even with guys out with covid they keep winning..
This is really just for Zumiee’s perusal.
Think the Beatles have been debated enough here…
https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/the-20-worst-beatles-songs/ss-AAKcZ9A?ocid=msedgntp
Is it ok if I look, too?
I don’t know what that means.
It could be a trivial quip or, if you play it backwards …
Carl Perkins’s original Honey Don’t was a tour de force. Not a masterpiece, like Blue Suede Shoes, but very good. Comparable to his cameo as a cold-blooded hood in hollywood’s grossly underrated mid-80s comedy Into the Night.
I’ve added it to my Letterboxd watchlist.
Some of the list makes sense, but some of it is the list-maker just being provocative. I get that. It makes the list more juicy to put “Hey Jude” on it.
“Hey Jude” as an uncomfortable listen is not that much of a stretch:
https://humanizingthevacuum.wordpress.com/2017/12/04/worst-songs-ever-the-beatles-hey-jude/
The song was #1 on the singles chart in the U.S. for 9 weeks, and the single sold millions of copies around the world.
I like it a lot. I think the song is well-written, and the recording is very tasteful, IMO. It’s a pretty stripped down recording until the crescendoing coda at the end.
And the story of the writing of the song is poignant. Written while thinking about John’s son Julian seeing his parents’ marriage breaking apart. Paul thinking about what he could possibly say to Julian to make him feel better.
Yep, that’s the plain case in its favor “until the crescendoing coda,” which it seemed AM always allowed to finish unlike “Layla.”
One of the interesting things about the 1960s is that so much great music was also really popular. There’s never been a decade that had that much of an intersection between the two.
That worst 20 list does have my least favorite, their inexplicable cover of “Mr. Moonlight.” I think the only reason they probably recorded it is that John had a lot of fun singing it.
The Beatles Anthology box-set has an unused take of the song that is a little more rough and interesting than the take that made it on the album. Man, John’s voice. There just has never been another voice quite like that in rock music. I’m always pretty much riveted by his singing.
Like many songs, I can’t be certain whether I love the song “Hey Jude” or what it reminds me of – the magnificent NYC teacher strike that we 11 year olds spent smoking Winchesters, drinking Rheingold (that grown ups would buy for us) and the occasional spin the bottle parties in my friends garage.
I fuckin’ hate getting old…
Zumiee:
Can you name the song that replaced Hey Jude in the #1 slot?
I think I used to know the answer to that but have forgotten it over the years.
I’ll take a stab at it: In The Year 2525?
summer 68, before my senior year in HS, I had an illegal job selling candy door to door in upscale neighborhoods in Santa Clara County. We dressed well and told people that we were troubled teens, given a chance to earn money toward college. Oh, here, let me buy two boxes. No, maybe three. One kid also dealt dope, ten dollar stems and seeds lids, when he hit the right front porch. After a couple of hours peddling, we’d gather at a corner to wait for the guy driving the company van, and the dealer would roll a couple of joints. I’d just moved to California from northern Florida, from the very district that Matt Gaetz now reps. I was impressed. One night, the dealer’s dope seemed particularly good. After we piled into the van for our ride home, he convinced the grumpy driver to crank up the a.m. radio volume for Hey Jude. I still remember how half a dozen of us sang along as wildly as we could with that crescendo. That mindless crescendo.
I still like Yellow Submarine.
The growing old thing, yeah, that ain’t thrilling. But I think how cool it is to have lived through eras with so many cool things. I could make a huge list of all the cool things. Some things on my list would be different than other’s, but some things would be the same.
Was the Giants game even on TV today? There doesn’t appear to be an evening playback of the game on the Giants’ network. Was it one of those goofy Facebook-only games?
