A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Bring On LA

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 21, 2021

I don’t care what anyone says, this goes a long long way….

Can you win without chemistry? Documented, yes.

But it stands to reason that your team is also better with it.

We have the best record in baseball, a candidate to start the All Star game going for us tonight and a team that strokes itself collectively to itself.

So, fuck the Dodgers, fuck ’em straight to hell.

Speaking of L.A….one of the ways LeBron loses people: he posted a video on social media of his winning shot against the Warriors. Posting his own video is just weak. Can’t respect that dude sometimes.

It was “Love Child” by The Supremes.
      A very worthy successor…

good to see guys (Unc, Xoot’s son) are going. think crowd limit is 10 thou–would be cool to hear if fans can fill yard that much. No more pumped in noise/cardboard.

  4. willedav said, on May 21, 2021 at 7:30 am

Nice story from Maria Guardado on mlb.com site on SF signing OF Braden Bishop, older brother of Hunter, and putting him on 40 man to play at Sac. Hunter is out with shoulder injury and not currently playing for AA Eugene.
Sac lost 3-2. Thairo hit HR #4, Beede went 2 2/3 0 runs 2 hits 4 BBs. Santos got blown save and L, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs in 1 inning. Obviously still working through some issues.

Is it possible that the Grave Duggar has taken on some version of a leadership role?

    Fuck the Bums! BEAT LA!

In fairness, Chi, the Roooster did not appear here last year to gloat about the title.
      Unless I missed it…

Good point. I don’t recall seeing him then, either Loo.

Ahhhhh. I love that word ‘chemistry’. It has been the theme of this team in ’10, ’12 and ’14 while the rest of baseball scratched their heads asking themselves ‘what happened’ . It is now 7 years later and the root of Giants success is about to bloom again tied to the chemistry of a team with April laughable odds to make it to the big top. So, as LA thinks they have their ‘mojo again’, they visit the leaders of the West and surely must be asking themselves if they are heading into something they can’t understand and whether there is something missing in their framework for true success.
Maybe half of these thoughts are coming out of my ass; but the rest is out of my heart for a team that is showing me what they are made of.
The only thing that saddens me is that the pandemic cut off the life of Finnerty’s in NYC and I could only imagine the fun of being in that environment if they were still functioning. I envy all you who are in the world of SF at this very moment.

    • Winder said, on May 21, 2021 at 9:03 am

Great post, team attitude and heart can take a team very far. Go Giants

    • chipower9 said, on May 21, 2021 at 10:15 am

Awesome post. Agree on the chemistry thing.

And I am bummed about Finnerty’s, too. I hope they are able to re-open at some point, and believe the owners left the door open to such a possibility.

      • djloo27 said, on May 21, 2021 at 11:39 am

Commercial real estate in NYC must be awful cheap these days.
Seems like people are dying to get out and have some fun.
        It could happen…

  8. willedav said, on May 21, 2021 at 8:43 am

Ms. Guardado mentioned in column on Bishop bros Giants now have 11 OFs on 40 man, including recently acquired Tauchman (without options) and Braden apparently is capable of playing CF.

  9. alleykat69 said, on May 21, 2021 at 9:30 am

So fuck LA,Fuck them all the way to Hell!!!
That’s so damm true, they will always be the most hated team in Giants history!!
Giants have 3 top 10 pitchers in National League, who the hell could of predicted that?
Wood and Gausman have to be front runners for CyYoung, such a great story especially Wood who you know wants to go out and kick his former team asses tonight.
Great article about Gausman having 2 pitches his Fastball and Splitter rated in top 10 value among all pitchers in baseball. They’re going to have to open up the wallet to sign this ACE, but he’s worth it with the stuff he has..
Disco another great story, he reminds me of Voglesong, just a hard ass fierce competitor that gives u everything he’s got! Go Giants send a statement to this Candy Ass Dogpile team starting tonight!!

      • unca_chuck said, on May 21, 2021 at 2:27 pm

Oh, I’ll find him. What’s his name? We are in View box 326 or some shit. Prices are craay, but hey, haven’t been to a game since the Flap overdrive game. Bleachers were $100.00 on some sites. And the fucking nets on the 1st level were bad, now they are ridiculous.

Joey Bart was pulled after 5 innings yesterday for Sacramento.
Casali drilled twice yesterday the second flush on the elbow. Wonder if he gets the callup today?

  13. zumiee said, on May 21, 2021 at 12:10 pm

Well, the Giants are now a team that hits HRs, strikes out a lot, and has pitchers that strike out the other team a lot. It had to be done to compete in today’s version of baseball.
One of the keys this weekend will be for the Giants pitchers to not walk a lot of guys. They need to be aggressive and let the chips fall where they may. If they nibble all weekend, the Dodgers will walk a lot, and it will be hard for the Giants to win. Even with the changed dimensions and characteristics, the ballpark can still used by pitchers to advantage.

    • zumiee said, on May 21, 2021 at 12:12 pm

On a radio broadcast recently, Miller mentioned that the Giants have the 3rd highest percentage of runs scored by HR in either the NL or MLB, I can’t remember which. The number was 51% at that time.

    • Winder said, on May 21, 2021 at 12:17 pm

Yeah, they hit some big time homers yesterday but they also scattered a bunch hits all over the field and took quite a few walks, that has to piss pitchers off to no end. Nickel and dime em till they crack

  14. djloo27 said, on May 21, 2021 at 12:30 pm

Gotta believe the Grave Duggar starts over the Sock Man tonight and will join Dick & Yaz in the OF.
    Doesn’t that make sense?

    • willedav said, on May 21, 2021 at 1:15 pm

Tauchman at leadoff hasn’t worked too well, maybe he gets a shot. so far, what has happened with him is he has a nice game and gets OPS up to .800, then goes back into a 2-11 slump and K’s a lot then it’s back under .700. At some point at least one of the current 7 OFs (or someone in minors) will become expendable for pitching help.

  15. unca_chuck said, on May 21, 2021 at 12:31 pm

Tongiht may be a quick affari with Bauer and Wood going. Neither walk many and both are pitching extremely well right now.

Yeah, zum, I saw the US version of the Office twice, I think, Just by accident.
Like you and Del, I missed the comedy somehow. Never saw it again.
Maybe the original UK version was better. Ricky Gervais is pretty out there, but he’s funnier than Steve Carrel, IMO, and has some pretty spot on social commentary sometimes in his jokes. I saw Carrel in The 40 year old Virgin movie. Meh…

    • willedav said, on May 21, 2021 at 1:19 pm

thanks, love these. Remember Crandall from all those years with Braves. In these type of games there are always some guys who have awful nights–notice Mays 1-10, Mets Cannizzaro 1-9 Mateo 0-6 etc.

I listened to this whole game and tried to keep score, just went on forever.

Perry with 10 innings of shutout relief, 7 for Mets Larry Bearnarth. 3 different Mets went 2 – 10, including couple good hitters Jim Hickman and Frank thomas. Giants struck out 14 times in 23 innings over 7 hours…didn’t they strike out 17 couple days ago vs. Reds? ah different era

6th wound up a DH between horses ridden by Flavien Prat (1/5 fav) and apprentice Emily Ellingwood (2-1).

    • willedav said, on May 21, 2021 at 4:09 pm

Uribe hit 23 HRs here in 2010–could Crawford do that? Don’t think any IF since has hit that many.

      • alleykat69 said, on May 21, 2021 at 4:58 pm

I was trying to decide which Dodger, past or present, is my least favorite. I get a sense of utter disdain as I go through this exercise. Is it Joc? That Palo Alto fuck, is it Justin Turner aka Justin McTurner, is it Puig wagging that obnoxious tongue, Kershaw with his ridiculous windup and satisfying tendency to choke? Kirk Gibson, who I had to watch to my idiot college roommate jizz all over creation in 1988 when he hit that homer?

I really loath all of them. I look forward to this game tonight with our good guys playing inexplicably well. Let’s see Wood shove some up their ass. Go Giants!!!!!!

    • Flavor said, on May 21, 2021 at 4:55 pm

Somewhere in the early 2000s it may have been the first year the ballpark opened I went to a game and was really giving it to Jose oquendo (one of the Cardinal coaches at the time) behind their dugout before the game started. His head shot up and he pussily pulled the cops over and started pointing to me and I just threw my hands out and said “what what???” The cops did nothing and oquendo walked meekly into the dugout.

Couldn’t stand Don Drysdale the head hunter.
Still to this day that goes back to 1968,I remember when he was going after the streak of shutout innings which was in the 50’s plus. The game was at Dodger stadium and the Bums had a 1-0 lead going to the ninth.Giants load the bases with no outs,Drysdale hits catcher Dick Dietz with a pitch and the shutout streak is over. But nooooo freaking I’m on the take/payroll Harry Windlestead (sp but who care he’s an a- hole) declares Dietz didn’t try and get out of the way of the pitch. That shit was never called back in those day, but this time it is?? The Giants never scored losing 1-0, Teflon Don ends up with consecutive shutout streak intact, and I cursed as any 12 year old would of and to this day I will curse all Dodgers till the day I die!
