Back To Winning Time!
Ah, the comfort of playing a crappy team. Feels good doesn’t it? And I’m waiting for some apologies from many of you to the Grave Duggar. Take your pick, 2nd highest batting average on the team or the .850 OPS. I know jizz flies freely around here when it comes to OPS. He has the best glove in the outfield and he is proving to be a contributing member of the team. Also, best nickname in baseball.
What do you want? Egg in your beer? (my dad used to say that, I never knew what it meant and still don’t but it seems to be the appropriate question to ask when it comes to The Grave Duggar.
Going into the Flodger series, winning one of two would have been expected if not hopeful and we could have lived with a split in AZ going 2-3. So we can get there today. Best case for us in SmelLA is a 2-2 split and will be a relief. We probably need to win 2 of 3 against the rest of the NL and hope for splits with with Flodgers and Friars to stay in the wild card hunt….
Not going to bag on GD (Grave Duggar – not Grateful Dead). He is definitely contributing. And no, I’ll pass on the egg in my beer.
Yes, great to beat-up on these shitty teams. We must kick ass on these teams especially if we are not going to play something near .500 ball against the likes of the bums (we are over .500 against the friars).
If you don’t beat up on those shit teams, you’re just another shit team.
bums and friars both won big last night.
Rest of division is so bad SF should still be able to go .500 vs. West even if Pads and LA very tough.
Interesting thing about GD is how Kapler uses him. On previous road trip, he started 1 game out of 4 in Cincy (blowout he got slam in) and I think 1 in Pittsburgh again out of 4, and none of Dodgers games even though first 2 were started by RHP. Gets another start yesterday and has two line drive singles in 4 ABs.
If he can keep the OB up, fine. OB and walks do matter–3 of first 6 runs scored last night were on base via walks. Kap likes to go platoony ball as much as possible, though Yaz who looks to be driving ball, will play dang near every day. So that leaves 2 spots open for other 3 LHs.
I seem to recall old timers (mostly German and Polish) would crack an egg in their beer and some would even add salt. I think it was for hangovers or just a (Bud) lite lunch.
My dad was a fan of salt in his beer. I also have a group of friends and we meet a couple of times a week for beers, and one of them is a big salted beer guy. Me? Oh fuck no.
Knew an older guy who carried around a pepper grinder in a leather case.
The pepper was strictly for his Heinekens…
Pepper in beer. WTF…never heard that one…
That’s because Heinekens are intolerable.
Egg in your beer = something for nothing, per a quick Web search.
It looks like our hitters are not ready to face good pitching. The Dodgers have good pitching and I don’t think this is the year we will be able to do much against them. I am sure we will win some games but usually good pitching comes out on top.
Tomato juice and beer.
Red Eye.
Oh yeah…red beers are great in the morning after a long night of drinking…
It was nice to hear Kruk back out there after two weeks of Estes. I defended Estes a couple of weeks ago, but he wears out his welcome pretty quickly. Kind of annoying. I know Kruk gets some heat around here, but I’ll take him and Kuip any time.
Good bounce-back win last night after the disastrous weekend, and Gausman is pitching at another level right now. Amazing find by Zaidi, and hopefully the Giants are amenable to bringing him back on a longer term deal. I’m guessing he’ll be pitching against LA this weekend and they’re going to need him. You knew the Dodgers were going to get hot just prior to playing the Giants. I’d be happy with a split this weekend. That may be asking too much.
I would be ecstatic with a split against the bums…
I’m still a fan of Kruk and Kuip, but it seems to me that calling the away games while watching it on TV at Oracle Park, makes them a bit lazy.
Just hoping that Anthony D. has a bounceback performance, and that this injury bug just stops dinging this team.
It starts with Belt. They need to IR him today instead of hoping against hope that he somehow recovers. Bring up someone to play 1st. Casali ain’t gonna cut it.
Agree, Charlie.
For sure Belt has to go on the IR, they need healthy bodies out there not a once every 4-5 days player shortening your bench.Get on top of this! Boch did the same thing because he gave vets a ton of slack.Like they say :”You can’t help the club from the tub”. And in a close game and u need to make a move and u have a player on your bench that can’t play what the hell good is that?
Gausman vs Kershaw on Sunday both missed that last series. No way can the Giants ever not have Gausman not pitching against them ever again.Hold him back against the previous team that’s what Robert’s did with Bauer you can’t end up with a last minute starter against this team..
Tru dat, and they shelved some players also.
What if somehow the Padres won the division, and the Giants and Dodgers were the Wild Card teams, and had to meet in the one-game playoff. That would be an epic moment in the rivalry.
The Giants would pitch Gausman, but who would the Dodgers pitch? The Dodger choice wouldn’t be as clear cut.
I guess I’d hope for Kershaw given his track record.
In big games. not so much against us. i don;t know, They have a fairly bulletproof staff. I mean, we didn’t even fuck with their pen much. Except the last game, when it was already over.
Just got to play clean and pitch well and hope for some timely hits. the fucking game we went to, we had opportunity after opportunity that we wasted.
I’m hoping for a re-match of 2016 at Citifield…
Is that Gillaspie? A rare display of emotion from him.
Yeah that’s gamer face in his finest moment! A perfect time to let down his guard for a dramatic AB.
Gillaspie would make a helluva a card player showing no emotion at all..
Greatest live baseball moment of my life.
Nothing even close…
To me it’s still a small sample size with GD and he still strikes out way to much (1 every 3 AB’s) but compared to Tauschman who’s even worse across the board, they would be foolish not to play GD more right now over Sockless who is completely lost right now.Tauchman have any options?
McDonalds and Target are hiring…
No he doesn’t Kat. wilmet I thought was near ready if they needed a 1b.
Flores still has to spend couple more days on IL.
I doubt it. He’s been around too long.
Ooops. didn’t see your post, WD
I’ve watched Bohemian Rhapsody about 10 times this month.
Still can’t make up my mind if it’s any good.
Definitely has it’s moments, even if you can see every one of ’em coming so easily…
Another 10 should clear all of that up…;-)
Rocketman is far superior then Bohemian Rhapsody imo..
The Grave Duggar sits…
WTF???
1. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
2. Buster Posey (R) C
3. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
4. Darin Ruf (R) 1B
5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
6. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
7. Mike Tauchman (L) CF
8. Mauricio Dubon (R) 2B
9. Johnny Cueto (R) P
Guess the McDuggar Nuggets meal is the job for GD now at McDonalds..
Kotter is not giving up Socks especially when he has no options and GD does..
Vosler up, Kapler says Belt to miss 10-14 days, and Wilmet can be activated Saturday.
I think GD guys need to get in Kapler’s grille, or at least a couple of beat writers. Despite all your advocacy, Kap ain’t listening and continues to leave him out of lineup. Trust the process?.
Bauer took 37 pitches to get out of the 1st inning, Altuve leadoff homer, plus 3 walks but escapes just giving up the one run. Won’t last long if he keeps that up..
So Belt just has the same mild oblique strain they MRI’d before, just tried to rest him for 4-5 days, which didn’t work, but now with the second MRI it’s more definitive then the first one?and they’re shutting him down now when they should of just done it all along. They screwed the pooch on this one..
and many morrrrrre . . .
Starting to wonder if Belt can finish the season, or be carried out.
I like the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. The music is great and I learned some things about Mercury’s life. I like a high percentage of music movies. Rocket Man, O Brother, Hard Day’s Night, Buddy Holly Story, Spinal Tap, and many many more.
Old movies, too. The Benny Goodman Story, Rhapsody in Blue, and many more.
Not so much the Elvis movies. The music is pretty mediocre in a lot of them. And there’s too many of those movies.
All four versions of A Star Is Born have their moments.
Jersey Boys is great, and edgier than I thought it would be.
That Thing You Do is kind of a definitive movie about “one-hit wonder” bands.
Velvet Goldmine does a great job of depicting the early ‘70s glam rock scene.
The Coen Bros. movie about the folk scene in NY City in the early ‘60s is interesting.
Singin’ In The Rain is as great as ever.
The last star is born is hard to take.
Really enjoyed both Jersey Boys&That thing you Do.
Also Walk the Line and Ray both well acted strong story lines..
Yes, totally agree.
Agreeing with the Kat, not agreeing with Chuck. 🙂

One good thing about the current NBA game is that the “floater” has become a shot that many guys have gotten real good at…
Yeah. When I was trying it (Lenny Wilkens version) in late 60s my coach hated it.
But yeah it’s a shot you have to have down as smaller player if you get crowded off 3 point line to get it off before bigs can get to it.
Oh boy. Johnny settle down.
Trevor Bauer is apparently responding to tweets mid-game. You know, as geniuses do.
Drum roll 🥁
That’s something you don’t see everyday, the homeplate umpire took a shot off his mask and the D-back hitter in the on deck circle caught the ricochet on the fly..
I’m going to veer off course here and predict an overdue bomb tonight for the Sock Puppet.
Make Kotter look like a genius…
I’m going to predict long at bats with no success..
This won’t make BF&Loo happy but supposedly Kapler didn’t want to sit Socks for a 3rd straight game, and that he likes ( even if he’s unsuccessful) that he extends AB’s by taking an average of 4.75 pitches per AB’s second to Belt and even number 10 in baseball for what ever that’s worth..
Pffffffffft.
Can’t get no action from whack sock.
Sad ‘music movie’ news today:
“Kevin Clark, the actor best known for portraying Freddy in School of Rock, has died at the age of 32. Clark was riding his bike in the Avondale neighborhood of Chicago when he was struck by a 20-year-old motorist driving a Hyundai Sonata early Wednesday morning, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.”
It’s one of Jack Black’s better movies. Clark portrayed the kid playing drums.
Black was good in Enemy of the State. And in High Fidelity. There’s a movie for music lovers.
Hi Fidelity was very good. And Nacho Libre is one for the ages.
It’s actually the family movie. We try to watch it when we all get together.
Nacho Libre kind of flew under the radio. Cool movie. From the director of the Napoleon Dynamite movie.
Oh, and one tweet I saw about the child actor who died at 32 claimed that Jack Black was 32 when he appeared in SOR. “Time is a horse you never have to whip.”
It is relentless indeed.
Johnny looks to be at 90 pitches by the 3rd inning.
If he gets there. All these hits are on 2 strike counts.
Exactly, D Bax getting revenge hits tonight. Offense gonna have to pick him up tonight.
Cueto is throwing batting practice every thing is up just hit the shit out of the ball is what it is..
Even the out with the bunt was a lollipop to lay down..
Johnny is spacing out. He didn’t cover home on the runs that scored, in fact he almost ran into the runner. And didn’t cover 3rd on the ground ball to Crawfish.
I don’t have a problem with Sock puppet starting over Grave Duggar. Look, neither one of these guys are very good. I would prefer Grave Duggar for the nickname and the opportunity to shove his success in the faces of those who doubted him but it’s not like they’re sitting Bonds or some shit.
The OF is the OF. A bunch of stiffs and Yaz. If the pitching goes even a little sideways (hi Johnny) then we are gonna flounder.

Cueto is getting no luck tonight. Most of these hits have been bleeders.
i have never in my life heard a manager go into this type of detail about cheating. This is wild stuff.
I like this guy!
you don’t often see a malaprop with a vocabulary that big
Tells it like it is and he’s right.
mlb itself blew this story sky high before the season started when it announced that it was going to collect game balls to test for banned substances. They’ve been doing it, all season long; they started with Bauer, iirc. Shildt’s not adding a thing.
Now back when Frank Robinson from his Candlestick dugout mocked that dodgers reliever’s coke habit — that was good.
Wow. Stellar AB by Longo. Kelly has an era of 5.05 and is 2-5. WTF?
I watched The In-Laws tonight. Probably hadn’t seen it in decades, and had forgotten just how zany it is. Holds up pretty well, Arkin and Falk are in top form, and it’s always fun to see late-70s NYC scenes.
Best comedy ever!
Jeez, Cueto might get himself hurt
He’s a fuckin’ hit machine!
Duggar making things happen!
And a .300 hitter!
Duggar showing the wheels!
6 tools
Yeah Duggar’s so fast he can turn off a light bulb get laid in bed even before the filament turns dark..
Loved the look on the catchers face at his pitcher’s shit pitch.WTF was that you moron!
See ya after the all star break, Ruf…
For Christ’s sake, now Ruf hurts himself on the bases.
Who’s gonna play first, Buster?
No wonder the Giants’ game plan is to hit home runs and walk, they get hurt doing anything else.
Time for Wade to come back and platoon with Wilmet and Vosler at 1st.
Cant rest all the old farts everyday. Pick your poison with this injury crew..
Brenly doing game for D-Backs wasn’t happy about pinch-hitting for Kelly, let’s hope he’s right.
Ruf probably down with a hammy for a few weeks.
This is what one of the oldest rosters in MLB does for you, but when you have to fill it with these guys and not a shit ton of young talent like other orgs, well, you roll with it…
Yep no choice. Still could try and roll the dice with Ramos Fizz atleast. He’s 23 now, shit Timmy,Bum&Cain were already up that age along with Posey..
I’m down with that if he’s raking at AA and/or AAA by the AS break.
The Giants OF is a wasteland for hitting…
Would anyone support Yaz & Belt for Frazier & Voit?
Slater game-tying tater!
Now there’s a pinch hit for you.
Slater Tater huge Bomb!!!!!
460 feet!!!New ballgame
Lest we forget:
Duggar started this comeback…
Vos bomb!
This is some really strong LSD I took…
I’m on Captain Kirk’s LDS reference about Spock..
Vosler doing a Gillapsie moment!!
Place is buzzing over this quick turnaround!
Don’t sleep on the Gyrats! They keep clawing away!
Huh
7 tool Duggar steals that bag..
The In-Laws, yes! The Guacamole Act of 1955 or whatever it was. People carried off by tze-tze flies! Dad and his phone calls! Those phone calls put you through college! Serpentine!!!
I believe the dead body by the runway is Senator Jesus Brownshweiger…
Say what you will about Rogers, he never looks stressed out.
Whew! Mini sweep in the desert!
Never a doubt right boys? 🙄 Geez
Take the 2 and head on to LA for 4!!
Ballgame!!!
Rogers serpentined his way through that.

looks like Tyler Rogers in a halloween costume
