Aww, and a tough day for L.A. fans.

  2. Winder said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:22 pm

i think McGee’s ERA is around 4.50 that is not closer material.

Where’s that jackass Dogshit fan who predicted LA domination a few days ago? Those fuckers become mighty scarce when the Giants win.

Seems like a big glove for a pitcher.

      • djloo27 said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:38 pm

        It’s a big glove for an antelope…

      • Lurker John said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:49 pm

        Nice pull! LOL

  4. Lurker John said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:26 pm

33-20 one game shy of the 1/3 point of the season. Hard to complain about that, and handing the Dodgers their asses at Chavez Latrine makes it all the sweeter.

  5. Winder said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:31 pm

That plane ride home is gonna be sweet.

  6. zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:36 pm

It was a good weekend for Kap. He stuck to the load management plan and it worked out well.

    • djloo27 said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:37 pm

They know more than us, but we’re smarter than them.
      Or the other way around…

      • Lurker John said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:56 pm

Definitely the other way around…there’s a method to Zaidi’s madness.

  7. xoot said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:40 pm

It’s more fun to dump on bums fans when they brag foolishly and fail. Let the guy rant.

Few days ago, Greg Papa, as context for a question, said to Zaidi: “You clearly were overmatched by L.A. last weekend.” Zaidi amiably, and, of course, intelligently answered the question and added: “I don’t think we were overmatched.” He then went on to outline the Giants strengths, along with the injury problems. He essentially predicted success this weekend.

So, this team is exciting, from the top of the front office to the bottom of the bench players waiting in the wings in Sacramento. Uncertainty is part of the excitement, I guess. Right now, neither Rogers nor McGee is a legit closer; Gausman may be hurt. Curt Casali may be hurt, too. hmm.

But the w/l record is a beautiful sight.

    • djloo27 said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:43 pm

      Home: 14-7
      Road: 19-13

  8. Lurker John said, on May 30, 2021 at 4:53 pm

Any latest word on Gausman? And I hadn’t heard about Casali. He can be frustrating, but there’s no real better option at backup catcher. 33-20 is even more impressive given guys going down seemingly every game. They cannot afford to lose KG. He’s one bad mofo right now.

    • xoot said, on May 30, 2021 at 5:16 pm

post-game Kapler said Gausman’s been nursing a sore left hip for a while and they took him out because he started to feel it. Kapler and his staff are all about vigilance, it seems. (Remember Cueto’s no mas last month?) Curt don’t you dare call me Sally motherfucker Casali twisted his wrist receiving a pitch toward the end of one inning. The tv people replayed it in slow motion. He was wincing afterward. May be minor.

      • djloo27 said, on May 30, 2021 at 5:27 pm

I’d put Casali on the 60 day DL just as a precautionary measure…

      • zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 5:30 pm

Remember Zito’s 2 or 3 month sprained ankle? The Giants were all “No need to rush it, man. Take care of yourself.”

      • Lurker John said, on May 30, 2021 at 5:51 pm

LOL, no shit. 60 days ought to do it.

  9. Lurker John said, on May 30, 2021 at 5:02 pm

Helio Castroneves wins his record-tying fourth Indy 500 at the ripe old age of 46. Pretty impressive. Helio is one of the good guys in the sport of auto racing, genuinely accessible to the fans.

  10. zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 5:20 pm

    Terrible news:
“LOS ANGELES — The 19-year-old daughter of “Moneyball” writer Michael Lewis and former MTV correspondent Tabitha Soren died in a Northern California highway crash.
Dixie Lewis was a passenger in a car driven by her friend and former Berkeley High School classmate, Ross Schultz, 20, who also died in the Tuesday afternoon accident, according to her family and authorities.”

    • zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 5:26 pm

Not to sound trite, but I very much try to avoid being a passenger in a car driven by anyone under about the age of 30. I don’t have any kids, so I’ve rarely had to do it in the last 30 years.

    • Lurker John said, on May 30, 2021 at 5:53 pm

That sucks. I really like that movie. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it’s really well done. Tabitha Soren used to be all over MTV back when they were, you know, relevant and about actual music. I don’t know if it even exists anymore.

    • xoot said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:06 pm

the kids were on vacation, on highway 89 near Truckee/Tahoe. They wandered over the centerline and hit a truck so large its driver wasn’t badly injured. Terrible accident, but I don’t think it says anything about young drivers generally.

      • zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:24 pm

True. I was just making a somewhat related point.
“According to the CDC, the age range of the riskiest drivers is 16 to 19 years old. This group is three times likelier to get into a fatal crash than drivers aged 20 or older. The CDC also says male teens are twice as likely as female teenagers to be involved in a vehicle-related death.May 1, 2021”

      • xoot said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:36 pm

well, the driver of that doomed car was 20. i have to admit I was pleased that both my sons were in no terrible hurry to drive. They were much more responsible than I was at that age. I was cutting high school and speeding hellbent to the beach, etc., as soon as I turned 16.

      • Winder said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:59 pm

I was a better driver at 19 than I am now.

      • xoot said, on May 30, 2021 at 7:17 pm

        lulz. I thought I was.

Snarkk sorry to hear about your dog, dogs are such social animals, and all they give you is love ❤️ I will never forget the day I had to put my Shepard mix, 17 years old down.

    Great win for the Giants

  13. Macdog said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:45 pm

Five runs was enough, barely, to beat the Dodgers with an automatic out as a position player. Maybe the Giants can regularly get away with it vs. the likes of the Reds, Pirates and D-Backs, but that won’t happen again vs. the Dodgers and the Pads, and certainly not when it’s combined with a bullpen as combustible as this one. Free Buster!

    • xoot said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:52 pm

These guys have plans and they’re gonna stick to em long as they work. Was it Kat recently who said that 7 of Buster’s 10 HRs have come in games after he took a day (or two) off? Is that right? If so, QED. Or something like that. Close enough for me, in any event. I’m not sure I can welcome Joey in place of Curt, but I got no gripe with the plan the team and Buster are pursuing.

  14. Macdog said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:51 pm

The Giants play four later this week vs. the Cubs, the team that’s closest to S.F. and L.A. for the wild card spots, so these are big games coming up. Kap better find a way to make damn sure Buster plays in three of them.

    • zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:52 pm

On KNBR before the game Kap made it clear they are going to stick with the load management for quite a while with several players.

    • xoot said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:53 pm

      uh uh

  15. zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 6:57 pm

I know Kap can obfuscate in interviews sometimes, but I was impressed with the interview before the game. He really really does want to win as much as possible. He and the brass have decided this is the best way. As Xoot said, they’ll do it as long as it works. Plans could change later.

He speaks with clarity. The code is dirt simple.

my daughter is 18 and taking her drivers test next month (she spend 2 years in school in Costa Rica, it kinda messed up her driving timeline). Anyway, I white knuckled all of the training I gave her. People that don’t know how to drive, man, you take for granted how easy driving is until you get in a car with someone who doesn’t know what the fuck they’re doing. Merging? Easy right? Felt like Pearl Harbor all over again for me with her at the wheel……

    • xoot said, on May 30, 2021 at 7:17 pm

have you paid for professional lessons? Made all the difference for me. Well worth the cost.

    • James said, on May 30, 2021 at 7:46 pm

Several years ago, my then 17-year old daughter drove from Berkeley up the 1 up to Sea Ranch with her younger brother to join us for a weekend. I’ve never understood why I allowed it happen.

      • zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 8:38 pm

I drove part of that when I was 35 and I was terrified.

  17. Macdog said, on May 30, 2021 at 8:13 pm

Vogt is wasting away in the desert with the awful D-Backs and he’s a free agent after this season, I wonder if there’s any way the Giants can get him back.

    • djloo27 said, on May 30, 2021 at 8:26 pm

      Yeah, let’s get older!

So Dubon did Bauer’s sword thing and Bauer doesn’t like it. I’m sure Bauer will get over it.

    • zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 10:36 pm

“People out here covering an eye after hitting with two eyes open and swording the wrong pitcher y’all fools”

He made a verb “swording.” Awesome.

      • zumiee said, on May 30, 2021 at 10:38 pm

I’m pretty sure Dubon can “sword” whichever Dodger pitcher he wants to.
