A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

He’s 69 (heh heh) Years Old

Luckily WilcoJoe fired up another pic of his dad and this one makes more sense to me.

This is extreme disrespectful bullshit from ESPN’s headline writers

Great picture of Wiloc’s pops and his son. Hope you drop in more frequently Wilco.

Rainouts suck as it translates into one of those asinine 7-inning twin bills. Fuck that. Looks like the DH will be Saturday.

Disco tonight (if they get it in), and Gausman in game one Saturday. Cueto slated to make a start on Saturday, but no word if he will take a turn in the nightcap.

Great pics from WilcoJoe the past two days, looks like he had a great time with his son and father, and it’s great to see that he raised his son the right way. AS A GIANTS FAN! ROFL!

    Great pics, thanks Wilco.
“A’s hand D Backs 19th straight road loss.” Man, wtf has happened to these guys? Late June 2019 was Flap game with them in town. Giants are better than ever even without Pillar Wil Smith etc., and AZ is worse than Rockies, which is hard to believe.

  4. Lurker John said, on June 11, 2021 at 7:07 am

Speaking of the heat, if any team needed a covered park it’s the Rangers. As nice as the “old” park was from an aesthetic standpoint, and it really is sweet, not to mention the Giants clinched their first WS in 54 years there, temps are routinely over 100 degrees in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during the summer and that has to take its toll over the course of a season.

  5. Bozo said, on June 11, 2021 at 7:24 am

If they get rained out today, I vote they do a triple header. Since the DH games are only 7 innings, a triple header would be like a regular double header plus 3 innings. A triple header, all day baseball. now that would make the Manford softball league rules a little easier to take.

  6. alleykat69 said, on June 11, 2021 at 7:46 am

I’m with ya Bozo, And at the mixed cocktail lounge I would make that a triple as well🍸🍸🍸especially if I was a D-back fan trying to get thru 3 sorry ass games in one day..

Hey man, check this out. Your boy Jaylin D back in action for Sac, and in first game goes 3-5 scores 2 drives in 2 doubles and Homers. Sac wins over Tacoma 15-7.
Tis quite a hitters league…McCarthy is batting .316 with OPS over .900.

  7. alleykat69 said, on June 11, 2021 at 9:03 am

Well they still could use a versatile RH hitting outfielder who can do it all, and my boy JD is that guy..Maybe they call him up eventually while giving Ramos more AB’s in minors which isn’t a bad idea.

seriously how did Z talk anyone into taking this guy AND giving us something in return?

  9. gianthead said, on June 11, 2021 at 10:09 am

The worst thing about DC is not just the oppressive sweltering summers is the randomness of the downpours. Was supposed to be at the game last night and as late as 5:30 pm heading to a bar near the stadium, the forecast indicated irlt would stop raining around 7 pm. So we planned on waiting it out at the bar until the tarp came off and then before it was even 7 the forecast changed and rain was supposed to keep going. By the time we left around 8:30 there was no rain. Ugh.

But at least I can now bring the boys to the early game Sat as the make-up. Steady rain all day today and our electricity just flickered off and not even a storm yet.

Thanks for the updated Flap report GH!
Doesn’t look good at all for today’s game, but clearing out and heating up for the weekend.2 doubleheader’s for the weekend in order?Going to be burning thru BP and players this weekend..

I lived in DC area (MD suburbs out on the Red metro line) for 3 years back in the ’90s. Yeah, summers are fairly brutal with the humidity, followed by pm showers, which creates even more humidity when rain is done. I also lived in Houston for 3+ years right after. I can tell you that Houston is major league humidity and rain for about 10 months outta the year. Respite essentially Dec-Feb. July-September is relentless nastiness. That’s why they have an underground system of walkways and shops in downtown Houston — you can walk between buildings downtown and do some basic shopping and grab some food without going outside at noon and get dripping sweat wet in 30 seconds. DC is AAA humidity compared to Houston, and it doesn’t last as long in DC, it has seasons. Fall there is actually really nice, you can drive out to the Western MD mountains or VA mountains in the west and see great fall foliage, Halloween weather is great. I really enjoyed seeing multiple Civil War battlefield sites back there, lots of history. There was a fairly important battlefield about 7-8 miles from where we lived. Visited Gettsyburg several times, Antietam, Bull Run/ Manassas. I would live in the DC metro hands down compared to Houston, or anywhere in TX for that matter. If Austin weren’t in TX, I’d put it in the top 5 places to live in the US about which I have some personal knowledge…

    • Winder said, on June 11, 2021 at 10:49 am

Yeah, I live in Charleston SC for awhile and the humidity there kicked Hawaii’s ass all day.
Another great pict. This one makes me feel old though.

      • Bozo said, on June 11, 2021 at 11:17 am

I live in the Outer Banks of NC, I know what you mean about the humidity.

There used to be that old saying, it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity. In New Orleans I remember tee shirts that read, It’s not the humidity, it’s the stupidity, which I thought was a good take on it.

      • Winder said, on June 11, 2021 at 11:53 am

Will Clark not pulling punches . . . Gee, just about every Flapper on planet Earth has said the same thing.

“I’ve had this talk to Brandon Belt until I’m blue in the face. I’m like, ‘why don’t you back off the plate, get the ball out over the plate for you instead of being in on you all the time, why don’t you back off the plate, get the ball out over the plate and go the other way?’ But he always stands in the same spot in the batter’s box and pulls everything and hits it right into the shift,’ Clark said on the ‘Morning Roast.”

    https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/giants/will-clark-calls-mlb-hitters-who-cant-adjust-shift-idiots?fbclid=IwAR3gKQiVCUUZDTb1a41_3nG-IkWTDxVzrc1PXJtRQjeI2EjGfuYOIIk0A0Q

    • xoot said, on June 11, 2021 at 2:39 pm

Belt gets frozen by heat on the black more than enough now. If he moves off the plate, he’ll strike out more and the shift arrayed against him will simply adjust. Will Clark . . . ok, ok . . . I won’t say it. But I’d love to see him in his prime trying to outsmart the AI. This ain’t no glove over the face kind of dodge going on these days.

Silicon Valley residents: I’ve spent this week in SV (cleaning a garden among other things: ever plant a flower and then ten minutes later see a bee alight on the petals and walk in for a long cunnilingus slurp? ah, the wildlife of SV) and I’m somewhat annoyed by the private Google jets that continually fly in to that sweetheart-deal runway at NASA’s Moffat Field. Is this normal? Is this a selling point? So close to Google’s HQ you’re in their flight path?

      • willedav said, on June 11, 2021 at 3:08 pm

mm have to catch up to my old coaching buddy. He’s over by Fremont Rd and Bernardo, close to Hwy 85, and has nice garden going himself. We hit couple HS games recently to see girls games of kids who came through Asian youth group programs we coached in middle school days who are now graduating seniors.
One of these was over at Blade’s old alma mater the former SV HS, also where my friend went early 60s. Since I went to hated rivals and played there later in 60s, to me it’s still a dump.
Other one at newly remodeled again lynbrook where they are redoing tons of stuff to front of campus. Entire girls varsity all Asian players, with Japanese lady coaching them.

      • xoot said, on June 11, 2021 at 3:23 pm

I’m close to your alma mater Fremont. Be around tomorrow. If you know a decent place where we can catch one of the games, I’ll gladly buy you a meal. (Jake’s and the Longhorn aren’t real appealing to me; anything else.)

      Not necessarily.

    • snarkk said, on June 11, 2021 at 5:26 pm

Could be a blood cancer, or prostate or something not necessarily requiring surgery.
My father had a rare form of blood cancer start in his late ’70s. Treated at Stanford with an experimental type drug that “marked” the bad cells in his blood, which was cycled through a machine that directed intense UV light into the circulating blood to kill only the “marked”, specially-sensitive cells. Sort of like kidney dialysis, but not. That procedure kind of knocked him off his feet for a few days every time. But, he went into remission after about a year, with decreasing cycles of the treatment over the next half decade or so until the disease was kept at very low levels on a kind of maintenance basis. Died not of that, but of heart failure about a decade after diagnosis. He also had, at around 75, an abdominal aorta rupture that got caught just in time, and had a dacron graft put in that extended his life about 15 years. Surgeon said another 6 hours or so and it would have blown and adios muchachos. Within a month, he was not only up, but was hiking with me and my brother up and down the hills of the Klamath River in far north NorCal bank fishing for steelhead. Nothing was going to stop him from that annual pilgrimage in the Fall. He was a tough SOB, in a good way…

Yeah, that was nice. I was happy to see Vosler and not Dubon in there at third. He looks pretty good there. Made that nice pickup and throw to nail Turner too. That dude can fly.

If we’re all correct about Dubious D, and we are, you can sure Kap and his staff know.

I really hope deGrom is okay. He’s fun to watch.

Can’t believe I missed a complete game shutout. What a great win.

There’s a lot of super-talented players in today’s NBA, but any sport still needs high name-recognition stars, and with Curry, LeBron, and Doncic already out of the playoffs, that’s not ideal for the NBA.

Snarkk, thanks for sharing about your dad earlier in the thread. That’s amazing and inspiring things.

Ramos homered again for Richmond, #5. Batting .280 with .836 OPS in pitchers league, 120 ABs. At some point, he’s moving someone off ML roster.
J Davis homered too for second consecutive day for Sac. Frisbee got hammered giving up 6 runs in 5 innings.
Funny, Snarkk’s post about 2010–saw on another site how this game compared to one in Sept with Cain Ramirez Romo and Wilson combining to give up only couple hits in 1-0 W.

found it on B/R. Sept 21 2010 at Wrigley, Posey homers #15 for only run of game. Cain gave up 2 hits in 6, other 3 each with 0 run 0 hit inning. Ramirez got W saved by Wilson.

Sooner would be better with Ramos who’s killing it in a a tougher AA league then AAA. Their also to LH dominant in the Outfield with only a less effective Slater who’s averaging basically a K every 3 AB’s..
