Can’t Hit
Giants have scored 3 runs against the Nats and they’ve won 2 of 3. That’s pretty astounding. And it’s also pretty irritating. Washington is throwing slop pitchers at us and we can’t touch them.
Joe Ross is terrible. We should light him up.
Will we?
Hey all, I’m in DC and will be going to today’s game. Pulled into town last night during semi-game 2 and stayed with a friend from HS who lives in DC. We ate at a Mexican place and got back in time to see Robles’ incredibly dumb baserunning gaffe that bailed out Baragar. Four straight games now with little offense from the Giants, so maybe they break out today. Looks like it’s gonna be a hot one.
the ongoing Flap representation on this road trip is the best part of this road trip
What’s your email? I’ll try and send you some pix.

Where did you eat Dog?
I’ll find out later, on 14th St near Randolph.
So way up in the Hood???
At least pitching has held up. Nats got 4 hits and 1 run off combined efforts of 7 different pen guys in second game. Hold other team down it won’t take much to beat them.
However…through first 7 SF was routinely awful. Other than Yaz PH double, rest of team 0-20 and that was without any ABs by pitchers. Beside Kapler, no one wants to see more of Casali.
Yes rule sucks, but SF was able to take advantage of it with hits from Wade and Wilmet while Nats ran themselves out of it.
Cueto goes today, right? He’s from San Pedro de Macoris in DR, so wouldn’t think mid 80s heat/humidity would bother him. Bum iirc used to say same thing, it loosened him up.
Stanford swept 2 game first round series vs. Texas Tech in Lubbock, where it was sure much hotter than Cali.
Posey is southern guy, so is GD (um 4-23 lately) and Wade Jr. is from nearby Balt.
Over great btw game lunch courtesy of Xoot yesterday we did talk about weather in SF, the O and the Stick. Always wondered if guys who grew up in warm weather climes (Caribbean etc.) freaked out about rude awakening of playing night games here, where fanbase is bundled up in summer.
I think talking about winter weather in upstate Minnesota led us to the stick and the O. Excellent afternoon yesterday.
True fact: Joe Ross helped coach one of my son’s LL teams ten years ago. Seemed like a great HS kid.
“Beside Kapler, no one wants to see more of Casali.”
I don’t blame Kap. The team brass is telling him this is his back-up catcher.
And Kap is going to say all the right things because he likes the job he has.
well, hard to believe they aren’t listening to him for feedback when it comes to roster amid all the call ups that have been employed. Maybe as former mostly fringe player himself he’s sensitive to DFA ing vets.
Speaking of Kap, if the Giants make the playoffs, he has to be front runner for NL Manager of the Year.
During June 14-July 4, the Giants have 8 games vs. Arizona. A great chance to rack up some wins.
We should of lit up Feede as well.but on any given day even Todd Wellenbuttface can find a magical twilight moment.Giants are a mystifying bunch that is shocking the baseball world. They can win with outstanding SP, Old Farts,Young Farts,a BP yes they can reload with a couple fresh arms and a more confident closer, but there still getting it done.Yesterday’s 2 games was the worst I’ve seen all year, and yet they still gained ground on the Bums&Pads with their 40th victory, Should Kapler and who would of ever thought this with this guy, start clearing a space on his mantle as he’s clearly the front runner for NL Manager of the Year right now..
For the last 14-15 years whenever the Giants come into town during the summer months they are usually awful. For those that have not experience the literal DC swamp besides the figurative one, it is oppressive and think has always affected what Giants team was coming into town. Coming off a game in Texas that was blown, flying in and then a rain out and then a DH yday, must really wear on a team.
Of course where I am it is pouring with massive tstorm but I am about 50 miles from Nats field and storm should stay south of DC. But there goes my directv for the start of the game. Reminds me of fond childhood memories though on turning on KTVU when the Giants would play a Sunday day gane in Montreal and game was on 10 am there. Those were awesome moments as a kid..
My directv signal of course comes in as Schwarber is crossing home plate…fucker!
I was speaking to one of the bullpen coaches and said how the hell are we playing this well and he said they’re good…I almost did a spit take. I would not put this team in my Top 10 Giants team in my lifetime but will take all the unexpected wins in happiness.
And did I tell the Flap I had to ask Baragar who he was, thought it was the new guy Sam Long and he then informed me he was Caleb. So I was good from there. He tossed us a ball…
doesn’t look to good for Cueto. Once he starts to give up the long ball he is usually toast
Nice, got out of that one
Well, I’ve never seen a player hit 3 HRS, so there’s a chance of that.
Four is not out of the question.
Fuck that Schwarber guy.
So thinking of 10 best Giants teams since I was a kid, I would have to go:
1) 2002 Giants – if we win that WS or Dusty does not blow it, I think it would be arguably considered one be one of the best baseball teams of all time.
2) 2010 Giants – first WS winners and absolutely unhittable bullpen and maybe one of the most dominant pens in playoff history.
3) 2012 Giants – Tiger Sweep!!!
4) 2014 Giants – The Year of the Bum!
5) 1989 Giants – my personal favorite team and got to see the pennant win over the Cubs at the Stick!!
6) 1993 Giants – 103 wins and the summer I moved to DC.
7) 1987 Giants – I am going with this playoff team that featured the Hacman and the Flap!!
8) 2003 Giants – The one Felipe and Jose Cruz Jr. blew in Miami!
9) 2010 Giants – Another blown Dusty and Livan series and Benny frickin Agbayani and 16 innings at Shea!!
10) 1997 Giants – the series mlb stole forcing us as division winners to begin on the road in Miami.
Honorable mention the 2011 Giants who set the franchise home run record but it was the Douchebags year!!! These Giants could not win a series against any of these Giants teams!!
Great list. I would have to have the ‘71 team on there because of my age bracket.
Your #9 is 2000 Giants?
Your honorable mention is 2001 Giants?
Yes excuse the dyslexia. #9 the 2000 Giants and honorable mention the 2001 Giants…
Schwarber’s a lot of fun to watch, huh? Kinda like goldy vs Lincecum in the olden days.
Ouch
Ahhh Gabe why are you not putting the softball player at first with one out so there is a potential double play in play to get out of the inning??? Schwarber hit one three four inches above the zone…tip your cap to that ridiculous outcome.
looks like another pen game, Cueto due up second this inning…
Wow. Their bats woke up. Criminy. All these injuries have to catch up at some point.
Test. Test. DLed the WordPress all
Can they just callup Ramos now, I’m sick and tired of all these shit filled at bats by Tauchman,GraveDuggar,Slater etc..
Good call…needs to happen!!!
I noted my surprise yday about such little BP from the Giants starters and then bench guys as well before Game 1. If I am a bench guy and starters are not taking hacks I am going to get in there…
I’d have pulled Cueto myself, but to his and Kap’s credit 2 shutout innings since 2nd.
I’m all in for a 7 inning game today.
9 innings of this crap probably activates Alzheimers…
Looks like a good call on your part Gianthead:(
Why I turned down some tickets for this game…
Shit!!
Trevor The Swordsman is getting a lot of publicity these days. Wonder if the new regimen affects Cueto?
Josh Harrison would not be a bad bat to get while our IF is struggling while Longoria is likely out till end of July. Harrison can play 2b, 1b and 3b while Flores does not seem to be doing much and Belt is having one of his swoons.
Didnt the Giants pursue Harrison before???
5 zip and Kapler let’s Cueto bat to leadoff the 6th inning?? Wtf 😳
Talk about throwing in the white flag!
Giants outfield has been offensively pathetic for quite a while now.
Tauchmann finally with a hit.
At some point, you’ve got to get an OFer or two that are consistently productive at the plate.
Bring up Ramos to shake some stuff up…
This just is not our day.
Radio broadcast says rain heading towards the ballpark.
Might be best just to have this rained out fast, get outta town ASAP with the split…
Little sense having Cueto hit in the 6th…heat may also be getting to Kapler’s brain…
This spider tack controversy is only going to escalate even more in weeks ahead. The inventors Michael Caruso and Jeff Dinnebaugh (sp) have said we’re just bodybuilders looking for an edge to pickup huge stones without having are hands slip. There sales were just so so and then they were getting orders from MLB teams and sales have skyrocketed, and having the baseball orders shipped right to the team’s stadium,so u have to believe it’s not just the pitchers wanting it to get an edge but management as well.( they have declined to say which teams have ordered it but it seems like most have I would think..
“Spider Tack is like Pine Tar on Steroids “
It’s like late 70s early 80s stickum in the nfl, only illegal and microscopic.
Cueto was left in to eat innings and save some bullpen.
Onward to the 4 games vs. Arizona.
Lester Hayes was the spokesperson for Stickem back then ..
Just win baby
Lol Javy is so dumb sometimes, he just said Sherfy coming in to a critical situation? Critical Situation there down 5-0 and he’s leading off pitching the inning?Doesnt matter much he will be optioned out tomorrow..
Some time back I mentioned that this team was reminding me of the 2010 team, now I’m wondering if they’re more like the 2016 team.
Hey, 87 wins wouldn’t be a bad thing, that’s for sure.
Blehhhhh. They kick ass while I’m on vaycay not paying attention and when I come back they suck turds through a hose. Oh well. On to AZ.
The hologram outfield is getting more translucent by the minute.
Fucking putrid.
The offense went bleh after Longoria went out, which might just be a coincidence.
Longo has proven to be much more fragile than I thought.
Ghead, Mexican place was DC Corazon. Yeah, there’s a bunch of mexi eateries around here.
got a couple good pics from Mac and GH, will post tomorrow
I still can’t get over Fedde and Ross doing us dirty like that. They suck. All of a sudden we can’t hit 🎯
Mildly interesting:
“Eight years later, the former Giants infielders both now play in the AL East, with Panik on the Toronto Blue Jays and Arroyo on the Boston Red Sox.
Normally that wouldn’t be noteworthy, except Arroyo was called on to pitch Sunday in Boston’s blowout 18-4 loss to Toronto at Fenway Park and he got the chance to face Panik.
After Red Sox utility man Marwin Gonzalez pitched a scoreless eighth inning, manager Alex Cora turned to Arroyo in the ninth. Arroyo walked Jonathan Davis to lead off the final frame, but got Panik to ground into a double play.”
Lol I did not expect Barry would be into this
I have no doubt he could still go 25/85 today.
I can only imagine the millions of dog steroid jokes circulating on SM…
don’t miss Lakers or Golden St. at all. NBA West winner will be brand new and all are fun to watch. Devin Booker Kawhi Leonard Donovan Mitchell and Jokic MVP.
Not much to say about this stinker. The highlight for me was chatting on the metro with a nice-looking girl wearing a Posey jersey on the way to the game. Lots of Giants fans there. Something that’s even more painfully obvious seeing the Giants in person is how slow they are, any grounder in the hole that a decent runner might beat out instead is an easy out. And poor Duggar, he sorta puts a ball in play but a foul gets dropped and gives him another chance to K. I liked the ballpark, though I didn’t get Bozo’s chili bowl, maybe next time.
Tell me this wouldn’t have gotten you back to Jersey in record time.

Grave Duggar since the Cub series:
5-30 (17 K’s)
Is it all over for him?
He looks awful – 10 K’s in last 12 AB…
